Rick. I am in the market for a used mavic 2 pro but only for photograpy and I wonder if you can compare this mavic 3 vs the mavic 2 pro in the photo department. I don"t care about video but dinamic range is a must for me
Wow, I was mesmerized by the sky in the clip over the fields just after the river footage and before machinery. The contrast, colours and range in the footage looks amazing.
Rick, I know some of the major features are coming by January, can you at least confirm if it already has the most common intelligent flights modes like POI, Tap to Fly, waypoints? is there any of the traditional flight mode available? I would expect POI at least. -thank you!
Well done Rick! As usual a great video! Darn I was going to buy the a Autel Evo Pro 2 V2 6K or even the Enterprise V2 but now with the Maverick 3 what would you buy? Pls help....
OcuSync 2.0 vs. 03+. For the Mavic 3 controller, is 03+ only available if using the RC-Pro controller vs. the RC-N1 controller? On page 40 of the Mavic 3 manual, it states that "the remote controller uses OcuSync 2.0". Thus, if using the RC-N1 controller with the Mavic 3, will this reduce the maximum video transmission range (under perfect conditions)?
Roger, your timing is perfect and I'll have a clip posted very soon that covers the Zoom function on the drone. It's absolutely amazing and I wanted to do a complete clip on the feature to fully explain it. Stay tuned for that. Rick
Tom, thanks for the post and you can use the camera in both photos and videos and it really helps pull in tight on a subject. I'll have a few more Mavic 3 clips this week so be sure to stop back soon. Rick
I purchased a Mavic 3 in 10 days ago and encountered an unusual fault. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of something similar. [I've received a replacement Mavic 3 from the store today btw.] The front/rear/side sensors didn't operate for obstacle avoidance at all, but Focus Track worked perfectly with these sensors. The Fly App reported vision sensors as 'Normal' at all times. The two downwards sensors operated as expected (and I couldn't check the two upwards sensors for safety reasons). The front/rear/side sensors never produced alerts/cautions on the Fly App screen, never produced beeping from the RC-N1 remote and never showed the faintest sign of either braking or bypassing (even only 1 meter away from test obstacles). All environmental conditions were suitable, all firmware was updated successfully, etc., etc. While the software for Focus Track and obstacle avoidance may not be the same, surely if the sensors work for one, then they should work for the other?
So I have an Air 2s, which I have a lot of fun with but I will use it until the Mavic 3 comes down in price in about 2 years...Okay, I will probably not wait that long:) I know you and me are the same with a new drone, like a kid in a new candy store:)
Very impressive so far? I just love how quiet it is? That video is extremely beautiful? I can't believe how great that video looks? I would definitely like to get that drone, but it's price is definitely above my rate. I'm sure everyone who is going to get it, I'm sure they are not going to be disappointed. Thanks for sharing Rick. 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the post and I haven't been able to pair it with my Smart Controller yet but I'm still running Beta firmware. That might be tripping me up. The challenge is that they have to add the Mavic 3 profile to the Aircraft Management screen in the DJIFly app and the software base for the standard controller and Smart Controller are handled by different teams at DJI so we'll see if that happens. Stay tuned to the channel because if I get it working, I'll post a clip showing you how. Rick

From what I can see, the Air2s is still the king of the Market. Unless you shoot in prores for a living, the M3 is no different in camera quality than the Air2s. Obstacle avoidance is for beginners, most shoot in sport mode. Same 20mp picture res. Air2s is considerably smaller and only 5mph slower. Flight time is the only real upgrade imo.
Love watching your videos Rick - think part of the magic is that this can make a 50 year old guy like me feel 9 again ;) Awesome - keep em vids comin! Thanks for an awesome channel!
Amazing video. I’m looking forward to more footage. How is the saturation and color balance compared the actual scene. Is it close to actual, or has dji amped up the color a bit?
Hi Rick. Jeff Voigt here in Annapolis. I love your content. I fly a M2P and Inspire 2. I just bought the M3 (Fly More Kit). I’d like you opinion about the flying qualities of the M3. I’ve got my M2P dialed in. It’s a smooth flyer. Same with the Inspire 2. They both turn and bank gracefully. In my view, the M3 flys very erratically. I went into the EXP functions and tuned the sticks and that helped some. But we don’t have access to the sensitivity or gain functions (like we do with the Go4 app for the M2P and I2). What is your view of the flying qualities of the Mavic 3 and do you think DJI will allow access to the sensitivity and gain function in the Fly app? Thanks.
Jeff, thanks for the kind words on the channel and I fly all of the quads you mentioned as well. The interesting thing about DJI drones (and drones in general) is that you can normally "tune" them to suit your flying style. Unlike my car that comes from the factory set the way they think I'll drive, DJI offers some control over the way the drone reacts to the joysticks. In the DJIGo4 app there was a lot more control adjustments provided than in the newer DJIFly app. I think they may initially open up more tunable parameters in the app but the challenge is that they will have to do this for each drone specifically. You'd want to play with these settings for the Air 2 and the Mavic 3 but wouldn't want to give fliers access to tuning the Mini series of drones so it's a technical challenge for them. Stay tuned and if anything changes, I'll update it on the channel. Rick
@@Dronevalley Rick, thanks very much for your well thought out reply. I’ll stay tuned in to your channel. Thanks for all you do for our hobby and profession. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Jeff Voigt/Annapolis
All the footage in the clip was shot at 4K 60fps and looks amazing. I have some footage at 120fps and will be posting it this week for comparison. The files are larger and it's a bear to edit but it's noticeably cleaner. For me 4k @60fps is perfect.
Stupid question Rick, if I film in 5.1 and export a 4K video from that footage would I lose quality? I know I can crop but I’m just wondering if I don’t crop what happens when I go from 5.1 to 4. Thanks for the video! What a beast!
Joe, you will lose a little quality when rendering down to 4K but it will be hard to notice. I still shoot a lot of my content in 1080 and it looks great. The other thing to remember is that even if you shoot in 4K, you'll need a 4K monitor to appreciate the difference. For me, the larger files sizes and difficulty working with the larger files isn't worth the headache right now to shoot in 5.1K unless it;s a commercial project and I'll need to display the results on a larger, high resolution monitor. I hope that helps, Rick
Everything on the quad is upgraded and they just became the drone to beat in the market. I'm sure that Autel and Hubsan will be launching something soon but it'll be hard to keep up with the new Mavic 3. Stay tuned for more content and comparisons.
Jeff, the DJI Mavic 3 uses a new O3+ transmission technology so the original Smart Controller isn't compatible. They do have a Gen 2 version of the Smart Controller that I haven't had a chance to test yet and I'm curious if that will also work with older models of quads like the Mavic 2 and the Mavic Pro. Stay tuned and I'll try and get some answers.
@@Dronevalley I would imagine that the 03+ is predominantly if not completely software changes. With the cost of the original Smart Screen being what it was it would be great if you could fly the the DJI 3 even if some features would be limited. Thanks for the reply.
Hi Rick, Great video as usual. Two questions here: Did you perform any color correction or grading on the footage? and did you use any of the nd filters for any of it? Waiting for more content on the Mavic 3
Thanks for the post and I didn't lay a finger on that footage in post production. No color correction or other adjustments were made and what you're seeing came right off of the MicroSD card. I also purposely shot some of it on less than ideal days (overcast and darker) to show you just how well the basic Auto settings were able to handle the challenge. I will have more content posting soon so please stop back and be sure to sub the channel. Rick
I'm still working through the testing but that's a great question. Now that you have me thinking, I'll have to try that out tomorrow. I'm skeptical that it's work because the Mavic 3 uses a new O3+ transmission tech but I'll test it for sure. Thanks for the post!
Thanks for the post and I did see the stutter in the original footage so it might be an artifact of the rendering or the compression RUclips adds to the video when uploaded. I can vouch for the footage being smooth as molasses.
Rick, I hate to be critical but I think your videos could use the injection of a little enthusiasm. You know, show a little excitement! Actually I see where your giddiness comes from in this case. And that was some beautiful scenery. I didn't know NJ had pretty spots, just traffic jams and toll roads. I used to fly in and out of Millville on kind of a regular basis (there was a jet engine rework facility there on what I'm guessing was an old military airfield) - I guess y'all call that the "Pine Barrens"? Nothing near as pretty as what you showed us today. Thanks, I've sure learned a lot from watching you.
Kyle, thanks for the post and I'm a fan of folks flying whatever makes them smile but that's an oversimplification. They are different "tools" designed for different jobs. The Mavic 3 flies farther, longer, more stably with better protections than any drone on the market. It also has the most sophisticated camera package available on a drone as well. It's designed for professional fliers that need to capture the best quality imaging from the skies for commercial purposes. Having said that, the Mavic 3 can't fly as fast or as nimble as even the most basic FPV quad so if you want that experience, you'd use your 7". Both are great for different reasons.
@@Dronevalley I know, not having a dig at all, just a bit of banter, I'm hooked on my Mavic air 2.. ain't changing that for shit, and iv flown a lot of other stuff..😁
@@k1ortia Kyle, no worries and I have a foot in both camps too. There are days I fly my camera drones for clients and other days I fly (and crash) FPV for fun. Stay tuned for more technical nonsense here on the channel. Rick
Nick, I agree that it's an expensive drone but everything in it is new and upgraded. Honestly, the Air 2S is amazing as well and can shoot incredible 4K footage for about half the price. That's a great alternative to the Mavic 3 and one I'm still flying every day. Thanks for the post and stay tuned for more content this week. Rick
DJI really screwed the pooch on pricing, all their promo vids are also a bit misleading as they all show the pro controller being used like that’s what it comes with, when in reality the controller included is basically what’s been on the air2/air2s.
Thanks for the post and you have to remember that they are upping their game with all of the new releases. The Air 2S is essentially the new Mavic 2 and the mavic 3 looks to be the replacement for the Inspire series. As I mentioned in the clip, this one is really more of a professional level quad and the price reflects that. I agree about the controller and am hoping they either offer that as part of a Fly-More combo or at least an accessory. Time will tell and I'll have more clips posting this week so be sure to stay tuned. Rick
Great review. Another overprice drone to empty your wallet. Not worth it at all for normal consumers with this insane price. I'm happy with my air 2s. I'm more hyped for dji mini 3 to see how much dji can put their technology in this small up coming drone
Love your channel and your enthusiasm. However, I feel like you are afraid to say anything negative about the DJI products... for example, the optical zoom on the M3 is terrible. The optical zoom is only @ 7X. It is my understanding that 2X, 3X... 6X, and everything after 7X are all digital (not optical). I think this is a HUGE negative for those wanting to do cinematic work like dolly zoom.
Thanks for the post and I am always honest with the reviews I post and am not afraid to point out when things don't measure up. I actually like the zoom on the Mavic 3 and have been testing it for the past week pretty heavily. I have a clip posting tonight to show you how it works. The top camera is a fixed 7X telephoto lens and you can apply 2X and 4X digital zoom to both. The overall magnification works out to be 2X, 4X, 7X (top camera), 14X and 28X. All of them look good unless your trying to stretch the zoom too far on a smaller object. Give me an hour or so and I'll have the Zoom clip posted and you can take a look at the examples from the quad.
I was really happy to get this one early and have loved flying it for a few weeks. It's an amazing product and hands-down the best drone I've flown. And that includes the Inspire 2. Stay tuned for more content this week. Rick

Love watching your videos Rick - think part of the magic is that this can make a 50 year old guy like me feel 9 again ;) Awesome - keep em vids comin! Thanks for an awesome channel!
Nice video, with just a little taste. I'm really interested in the SC 2. Enjoyed the first look, thanks Rick.
Amazing video. I’m looking forward to more footage. How is the saturation and color balance compared the actual scene. Is it close to actual, or has dji amped up the color a bit?
Hi Rick.
Great video as usual!
How fast can it fly?
Does it fly faster than the M2p?
Rick

Rick, thanks very much for your well thought out reply. I’ll stay tuned in to your channel. Thanks for all you do for our hobby and profession. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Jeff Voigt/Annapolis
I'd love to see some extensive testing of APAS 5.0 It's claimed to be at a new level... Let's see it in action.
What was it like at 4k 120fps?
Im here just for his pre flight excitement 😄
Bigger sensors, longer battery life, wider FOV, higher resolution and frame rates! Talk about massive upgrades!
Everything on the quad is upgraded and they just became the drone to beat in the market. I'm sure that Autel and Hubsan will be launching something soon but it'll be hard to keep up with the new Mavic 3. Stay tuned for more content and comparisons.
Is it Smart Screen compatible?
Hi Rick,
Great video as usual.
Rick
@@Dronevalley Well; that's really good to say the least. Been subscribed for a while now, waiting for more great content. Thank you.
Great review Rick as always. I love flying my Mavic Pro FPV. Do you know if I can FPV with the Mavic3? Happy flying!!
I'm still working through the testing but that's a great question. Now that you have me thinking, I'll have to try that out tomorrow. I'm skeptical that it's work because the Mavic 3 uses a new O3+ transmission tech but I'll test it for sure. Thanks for the post!
Nice
Cool 👍👍✌️
Hi from London 🇬🇧
Good morning family. Thank you for sharing. Very beautiful. The drone is to expensive for me. ENJOY 🙏💯❤✌
Hi there , what's with all that stutter. not very smooth.
Thanks for the post and I did see the stutter in the original footage so it might be an artifact of the rendering or the compression RUclips adds to the video when uploaded. I can vouch for the footage being smooth as molasses.
Wish I could afford it but $2200 is a little to rich for my budget. If you go with the fly more option it's $3000. Thanks for sharing she looks great.
Wow, looks so darn good, speechless 😶
Anyone have kidneys left to sell ?
thanks god, i have 8 kidneys
Flys just like my 7" cruiser with go pro 9..and half the price..😉
Rick
@@Dronevalley I will brother definitely, I look forward to your new content..👍🏽
First Mavic I will NOT be buying, the price for fly more and the CINE is INSANE!!!! bye Mavic!!
Rick
4/3", 5K, 360 obstacle avoidance, 48 hrs flight time.. what is supremacy?
Hi
Hahahaha. The Excitement
I was really happy to get this one early and have loved flying it for a few weeks. It's an amazing product and hands-down the best drone I've flown. And that includes the Inspire 2. Stay tuned for more content this week. Rick
They just keep getting more expensive. Average guy is going to be out of the drone business very soon.
