On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Игры

If you'd like to join this server you will need to be on DCS Open Beta and Own the Channel Map, WW2 Assets Pack and at Least 1 World War 2 aircraft with the exception of the I-16, search for "growling sidewinder" and select the "World At War" server. Also Please note this is not 1 long record, this is several flights spliced together to make an interesting video. Thanks for watching and I'll see you guys in the next one.
I gotta finally ask, are you the dude in the shirts at the beginning of your vids?
eurofighter vs rafale BVR
I love that in the WW2 videos you are typically filming the server instead if 1v1. It seems so organic.
"These Spitfires are becoming a problem" Pretty much every single Luftwaffe pilot and commander in WWII.
As much as the fast jet vids are awesome, there’s something so visceral and satisfying about these historical guns-only dogfights 😁 great content dude!
Please keep up a steady diet of WW2 content, GS.
Love these vids.
this
Bulldog 71ss Looks like you’re a Cardinals fan!
I am amazed on how you can spot those tiny things in almost camouflaged sea.
Like I have to reallllly focus hard on the screen even when you zoomed in 🤣
It would be EPIC if these WW2 planes all had their WEP(War Emergency Power) performance programmed into this game. The Germans had water/methanol injection to go with their superchargers. And some also had straight up nitrous oxide. The WEP for the P51’s bumped them up from like 1400/1500hp to like 2200hp! That’s a MONSTROUS gain in performance. In hairy situations this would be so fun in the game. Just like in real life you’d have to use it sparingly or you’d blow the engine. The P51’s were given like 5 minute increments to stay safe for example.
Underated comment considering I didn't know what exactly WEP was and had always wondered though never looked into it.
Nice to know we don't know when to quit when it comes to speed lol
Gotta go fast!
The Fw 190 has Methanol water switch in DCS
The p51s wep only boosted performance to 1600hp were did 2200hp come from lol😂😂😂😂
Only corsair can produce 2200hp
But it's not ingame !
WEP is modelled, not sure what you're taking about. The 109 can go to 1.85 ATA with MW50 injection. The Spit can go to 18+ psi.
I love the sound of that engine! Amazing hearing how it roars and when it goes quiet. It adds to the flying experience. Yes, those kills were real close.
I love the WW2 type vids man
Bunch of people that forgot to "beware the Hun in the sun."
Talking about WW2 warbirds: Some FW 190 videos would be highly appreciated :)
could watch this for hours. Would be cool to have a high-numbers session, right? Would make for some great watching.
109 = like :D
WW1 and WW2 was when REAL dogfighting took place. No radars, no missiles, no aim assist. Pilots just had to "feel" it out
What do you mean "aim assist"??
Optics that calculated lead were widely used during WW2. Also, what do you mean by " real " Dogfight? If an F 16 and a Mig 29 engage in a dogfight I can tell you that the pilots play as big a role as the specs of the aircraft itself, radars, missiles and all. It's like saying that today's cooks don't "do the real thing" Because they use recipes and theory.
@@panagiotispotamitis9872 I think he meant the dogfighting is so raw even with the technology of that time, you don't have that feel in modern jets
@@panagiotispotamitis9872 today technology is without a doubt best and 💯 is as hard as it can get, in dogfights.
But fighting with ww2 planes, without great technology like we have today, no HUD in helmet, etc etc make ww2 dogfights more interesting and skill demanding. Handling those piston aircraft is different task itself, as the orientation of plane affects working 4 stroke engines, I don't know whether pilot felt such problems, but in sims ww2 dogfights are harder than modern jet dogfights.
But for comfort reasona like when patrolling or doing tasks other than dogfights, modern aircraft are wayyy better than ww2 planes imo, due to modern avionics.
@@panagiotispotamitis9872 Optics that calculated lead were widely used during WW2? Those were exclusively used for bombers, and are useless for dogfighting. Modern air combat has almost nothing to do with dogfighting and way more to do with tactical, situational, and technological advantages. Dogfighting is extinct.
@@mysimpletoon spitfire ratios drastically increased following the introduction of new sights so yes it was both common in late war and really useful
“This is why he didn’t bail out” is hilarious to me for some reason
I was already enjoying this, then the Battlefield music kicked in and it became perfect
The spitfire what a plane ✈🇬🇧
Most of my created missions recently have been over the Channel.. either morning, daytime, or nighttime.. i love it. I love how you really have to fly the aircraft - your thumb constantly on the trim to compensate for torque etc.. great stick and rudder stuff..
Love the WWII stuff. Always fun to watch. Especially the energy fighter stuff. It's somehow more exciting to me with a longer, more tactical setup than the frantic turning and spotting you have to do with a rate fighter.
I’m so glad you’re doing ww2 again. Love the bf109
Much like those Spitfire pilots, I feel I've died and gone to heaven - thanks to these WW II vids. Much improved effects over past couple years. Thanks GS!
Love the videos. My Grandson and I watch them. I have not be receiving notifications lately. A little frustrating. But I’m still here.
The many short comings of RUclips, thanks for checking in though.
3:32 - "This is why he didn't bail out." LOL!!
Yep - A 30mm round sent vertically down into the cockpit area would definitely preclude any bail out maneuver. ; p
Please do a bomber intercept mission with the FW-190D 👌🏽
Saying a mw50 k4 and dcs mustang is a dog fight is a stretch, more like a slaughter
As far as excuses for not bailing out go, a 20mm cannon round to the cranium is a solid one
@3:39 “This is why he didn’t bail out” Had me laughing😂Poor digital pilot
When that Battlefield Theme kicks in! ;D
To know that these moves were made in real life is incredible. Watch some old footage of WWII fighters and it's amazing what they were able to do with the the engineering of that time.
The WWII pilots were the OG
Well the British RAF is really happy with Growling Sidewinder... for being born well after WW2 has ended. Just think of how the war would have gone if he was a fighter pilot for the German Luftwaffe.
Those 88s owe you a case of beer, GS
Fun video to watch! You're really good at energy management and knowing your DACM parameters.
You fly the 109K4 really well. I think I would struggle to keep track of my opponent while we were maneuvering with all the structural metal at the front of it. You seem to know what the opponent is going to do even when you lose sight of them temporarily.
"K4 is an absolute animal" ... and you, our friend, you are the Boba riding the Rancor !! 😉
Loving the ww2 content, side note, the Spitfire pilots had to have been some of the most oblivious that I’ve seen to date.
Painting the cowling yellow illustrates how much chunkier the nose is compared to Bf-109Fs-13mms, streamlined post-bulges cowling etc
Any plans on taking the FW-190 for a spin? I've always found that plane a bit harder to get the hang of than the Bf-109. It would be interesting to see what it can do in the hands of a more capable pilot.
I agree it would be interesting to see what it can do in the hands of a capable pilot, I’ll let you know when I find one 😂
@@GrowlingSidewinder You should ask Emperor. He seems to be very deep in the ww2 stuff
Love the content man! Keep it coming! Always look forward to seeing a new one!
Nice flying as always! love the K-4
Love how the Messerschmitt just looks like a menacing fast German murder hornet
Loving the WWII patrols! Great stuff!
i love how in videos it only takes a few shots to down an enemy but when im flying it takes all my damn ammo just to make something smoke
OMG .What a huge amount of damage a 30 mm cannon can deliver...!
These are a joy to watch, still getting used to a 109 K as a 'Yellow Nosed Bastard' though.
All your videos are great but really enjoy these WWII ones.
Digging the WW2! Just bought the 109 this week. Lots of fun.
Me personally I've always been a fan of the OG E-4 and the G-6 with the gun pods, I just love the lines of both and the extra dakka.
That was awesome to watch. Thanks for the warbird content.
Keep the World War 2 stuff coming!
I really love this one. Love the WWII B1RDs.
Many thanks. You are amazing. I do not even know to fly. I like also your unagitated style of commenting.
Exactly what was missing last episode
More WWII, I agree! Would love to see you in a P51 going against the 109/K4
the p 51 pilot bailed out
Kinda hard to bail out when your brains are all over the canopy.
Thinking I might download this!!!! Looks like hella fun!!!!
Love that old school action.
These k4 vids give me life
"Smile for the camera, look right here, and wait for the flash ..." 😆
Also, I get why people take exception to you saying "eject" for WW2 fighters, but I'm not sure "bail oat" is a significant improvement 😉😁 (sorry, I'm listening with an outrageous Australian accent, and that's how it sounds to me).
love the battlefield soundtrack!
I love this content, its definitely my favorite. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the jets too, but this so much easier to understand.
Awesome stuff man. Love the ww2 combat. Would be awesome to see you and Longshot attack an enemy harbor or fleet!
Love the Bf 109 content!
Love the WWII Sim.
I’d love to see a video where you are the one getting bounced and having to defend against whatever it is.
Target fixation much GS? LOL You get SO close to hitting them, makes me pucker - and I'm not flying! LOL
I gotta wonder how those gunners on the ground batteries can even tell which planes to shoot at.
The shapes and silhouettes of the aircraft and Identification marking like the Balkenkreu and US white star
The 109 is a beautiful plane.
Any chance we gonna get some more WW1 stuff? I've been fixin' for them for awhile now.
Super awesome 👏 chasin the Ace two more.
As usual, awesome dogfighting! Do you have unlimited ammo on or is it because of editing different dogfights together?
Thank you, and yes as you mentioned its several flights spliced together. I just record everything and extract the good stuff for a video.
I though you were going to eat Spitfire on the last kill!
that 30mm...
please bring back the ww2 videos! either IL-2 or DCS i just want more ww2 content :D especially the me262
love these ww2 type vids man!
Hey man I just got the F-18C and was curious if you have any tips to learning the aircraft a bit quicker, hope this won’t get buried
Still waiting for that Corsair
Hey GS! love the new video and was just wondering if you could maybe make a video showing your set up and controls. i’m trying to get into the game myself and it’s pretty difficult on mouse and keyboard lmao💀.
What's your budget and do you own a xbox controller? BTW, gs already made videos about his setup
I say you need an "I'm a Dog person" shirt with an F86D Saber Dog :D
wait they have a ww2 in this and it has the geographical maps? This DCS is insanely good!
Yes really nice video
GS, please don't tell people not to turn fight spitfires. It ruins my fun
Haha sorry boss I’ll keep it quiet next time.
Everyone loves the falcon right? Ya know, the F-16 FALCON????
I can't bail out.. been saw'd in half!
Love the WWII videos.
This K4 is pretty popular. I vote for a PtP large engagement too. WWII much more entertaining
WW2 planes had Holo' sights? I didnt even know they had that tech.
That was a big military secret on the outbreak of ww2. All nations hid data about their gunsight tech. By 1944, Spitfire and Mustang even had lead computing gunsight.
it's a big reflex sight, it was first introduced in late 1918, but it was too bulky and power hungry it could only be used in stationary positions like anti-tank guns and whatnot, later in ww2 they were made smaller being able to mount them on aircraft powering off of the battery, but still not small enough to mount them on a rifle like bfv and cod vanguard would want you to believe
@@nepi7847 badass post!
I miss the WW1 pistol kills.
I wonder how the MG 151 cannon, in either the 15mm or 20mm form, would fare as the hub cannon as compared to the 30mm cannon you have. It would seem that the higher muzzle velocity and rate of fire of the MG 151 would be ideal for combat against other fighters. The 30mm MG 103 seems that it would be better against bombers or other large lumbering aircraft.
You have great videos! The 109 K4 is truly awesome. I do have one request….please put the swastika on the tail of the German planes to make them historically correct! I detest the political correctness of the times now…the swastika, like the Confederate flag, are part of history and should not be trivialized, just because of the past. It’s time folks grow up, and realize that symbols can’t hurt you now. It may be a small thing to mention, but, in the interest of history, they should be included, IMHO.
I didn’t think P51’s ever had rockets mounted. I was guessing a Typhoon or Jug.
They did have up to 6 rockets
This continues to be awesome. I love the WWII stuff. I think it would be cool if we had a Mustang vs Spitfire showdown or Spit vs a Hurricane.
LOL, the Hurricane was outdated as a front line day fighter by 1940. There's a reason they were deployed against the slower bombers when possible in the BoB.
Do you make muted color patches? I’d like to put your logo on my plate carrier, it’s sick.
He failed to jump out? Well, it's very hard to jump out when you get 5 pounds of lead in your back from that vicinity, I guess ... 😅🤣
you really are a master in these duels, I really envy you, but what: positively I envy, I'm not jealous! Congratulations
Are you still pleased with the tobi eye tracker or have you gone back to track ir?
Technically its an egress instead of an eject.
"There has been trouble with Spitfires in this area" Not being rude but you are over the English Channel! This is the air space of the Spitfire
"english channel"
Any chance there will be some WW2 merch coming out?
The Spitfire LF 9 is really hard to deal with, strongest plane among all WWII planes in DCS
Imagine if they added mk XIV....
109 baby! - lol!
Hey GS,
I’m not sure if this has been asked or not previously and if it has I do apologize, but with the upcoming launch of F4U from Magnitude 3. Will you be allowing it on your World War II server?
The RN did operate a squadron or two in the ETO so there is historical precedent even in limited numbers and nation locked. Figured I’d at least ask, and again if it’s been previously touched on I do apologize for completely missing it. Take care and see you in the skies o7
hello, yes I will find a way to incorporate the f4u into the server. I understand its new and people will want to use the new module they paid money for, so one way or another we will make it work.
