On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Just a quick little video to show the spitfire some love, especially during Market Garden (this is a quick mission I made myself it's not made by IL2 so don't expect it to be 100% historically accurate) As always keep in mind that his video was filmed with an Oculus Rift S and All my PC specs are in the video description.
Keep up the nice IL-2 content!
just curious here: what VR headset are you using?
need more please
I hope you reject Nazisme and neo wanna be's
@@rostyloco1 he said oculus rift s
Dude your precision while doing pop shots is AMAZING and the thing is you do it on such difficult angles at high speeds during super close merges quite often. Lettting it rip and running your tracers down your enemy's path is one thing, but leading for less than a second and have that super short burst hitting home just makes my jaw drop every time.Super quality content and Im glad your are uploading multiple videos a day. Keep it coming!
Thank you man very kind of you, I can’t take all the credit tho sometimes I get lucky 😆
@@GrowlingSidewinder dcs vs il2 ? what do you prefer ? I prefer il2 since I am a ww2 guy and I know that dcs has ww2 aircraft but they dont get alot attention compared to the modern stuff so its il2 for me since il2 is focused on ww2 it has all of its attention on ww2 stuff.
@@omerashraf9357 why not both?
@@evensen007 because I am a ww2 guy
@@omerashraf9357 there is plenty to like in DCS for WW2. Custom campaigns are fun.
That fiendish laugh, "That's a nice warm fire." Mr. Sidewinder, you are cold blooded!
Sidewinder = snek
Snek = coolbluded
More Spitfire content? Good enough for me! I like how surprised you were when the first 110 burst into flames on you.
I found your channel last week, I think I have watched almost all if not all the WW1/WW2 content related items. Plus bought IL-2 and Joystick/tracking setup... How dare you be this entertaining.
Prepare to die, a lot.
Welcome to the flight sim community! 😊
@@flyinggoat2581 how inspiring.
Should've gone VR, believe me ! Good luck, fly safe and especially have lots of fun !!! Welcome to the community man 💪
@@AceCmbatguy25 normally, I would say "nah," about VR..
But they've done something that makes this game run really well on VR now. It runs pretty smooth for the most part, MUCH better than DCS. It's the perfect game for VR and a HOTAS
My great grandfather flew the spitfire and was awarded the Victoria cross for saving someone’s life, such an awesome plane 🇬🇧
Was your Great Grandfather James Nicholson..?
@@JBils41 have you got his story?
Spitfire turn rate + 109 energy capabilities = One OP aircraft. Love it.
you better make 2 morons in a apache once it comes out
No doubt my dude
Love the IL-2 content. I no longer fly online but I still enjoy watching. I played back in the beginning days of Janes WWII Fighters and wow, how far things have progressed.
You should open up a small gas can and leave it nearby when you play in VR for a truly immersive experience.
Pshh, go a step further and find a riding lawnmower as your gaming seat
7:17 That is a spectacular long distance shot pulling lead, just first class gunnery on that shot.
Loving the IL- 2 series...I fly in VR too with a G2 and it is so much more "real" than with Trac IR ...and I feel a lot of love for the Spit...
Great VID! I ended up jumping on IL-2 + Virtual Reality with my Vive Pro and it looks FAAAANTASTIC !!
The adrenaline to feel literally inside the planes is PRICELESS. Cheers !
I am now getting in to the IL-2 and VR, can you let me know which IL2 battles are compatible with VR?
Who actually down votes these vids? This is as good as it gets. Your skill is amazing and your commentary is always on point. I’ve learned a ton watching these.
Finally in an allied aircraft. Thank you.
Love the Mk XIV, good show! For added context, could you mention the type of mission within the campaign for each sortie (i.e. railway station attack, troops cover, etc.)?
love the recent il-2 content, keep it up !!!
Roasting chestnuts by the nice warm 🔥...another great flight...you Erich Hartmann,d those guys...lucky you survived the debris zipping past your super m spit. Can't get enough of that sugar crisp... Keep em coming GS ...I love flying on my phone...
Yeah, go the Spit! That thing can just turn all day!
GS at the right side of the History this time.
Every time I hear your intro, I also hear the other part lol. The: "I cant! I dont got a fucking tone!"
I love taking the Tempest out because of the quick work you can make with those 4x20mm cannons.
Totally addicted. If a day goes by without one of these I start to freak.
I just never get tired of this!
I love your WW1/WW2 content! Much more entertaining than modern aircraft, IMO.
For anyone who thinks his constant mentioning of VR maybe paid plug for Oculus, let me confirm what he is saying. I only have PlayStation VR, which is pretty basic compared to Oculus, and I can tell you from playing Star Wars squadrons, the VR headset is only beaten by really flying; I'm a former pilot.
I wish oculus was paying me lol
@@GrowlingSidewinder Any chance we're going to see you give the Varjo Aero a try? I guess you could score a loaner from them quite easily, considering your subscriber base.
Had 8 Family members In WWII 2 infantry that came off the Higgins 1 in 101st Airborne. The other five I’ll have to check they all lived unwounded👍🏻
When it comes to WW2 air combat, Growling Sidewinder becomes an ace in a day
Making it look easy - again. Skills showing, loving WWII. And to think I just bought TRackIR... !
Man's good with any aircraft
As much as I like the Spitfire (XIV or other) I actually prefer seeing a variety of planes being flown. What's more, I actually prefer the less top tier planes because you can't rely on the advantages that your aircraft gives you and you need superior pilot skills to compensate, which leads to more interesting videos (and gameplay). Squashing bugs who can't really touch you, while satisfying, has less appeal than a win you really had to fight for.
In case you're looking for planes to fly: I'd love to see some P-38 and some FW 190 (any). For an interesting challenge, I'd particularly like to see a FW 190 A3 encountering some Yak-1b's.
Is this why you started releasing longer videos? It's very good
What was it that Adolf Galland said about the Spitfire Mk. XIV? Something like, "The best thing about the Spitfire Mk. XIV was that there were not very many of them."
I don't know if the PZL P-11 is in any of the simulators but I think you would love flying it against a BF-109
I knew of this sim for PC, on the Q2 it's gonna be awesome!
GS - better to have cannon
Gun - Hold my shell !!
I just wanted to say thank you so much for this awesome content and especially the ww1 and ww2 related videos. Keep it up you are amazing: ur videos are entertaining, you upload every day, you even created your own server for the community.... Just thank you and keep going! The instance i get to buy a new setup when gpu prices are at least reasonable ill get vr and or head tracking and join u guys there
2x Me-110s, 2xFw190s (A-9s?) and one Bf109.... ACE IN A DAY!!! (Again... ;) )
Great job and thanks for giving me a reason to deplete my bank account even more... as if I needed another expensive hobby!
How does this compare to DCS? Are there lots of servers to play on? What vr are you using? Looks awesome!
Love the WW2 content brother, though I would love to see more DCS ;) Keep up the good work! Quick question, which VR headset are you using? Thinking of picking one up for myself.
Question Growling: I have BP so i got the IX, do you feel the mk14 is very meta-ish? is necesary? or the mk9 can deal prety with the germans?
I want to purchase the teardrop when it comes out but dunno if its a "lot of difference" (yes I know Griffons where beast at high alt, but i ment at low, where normaly u will fight with a mk9)
cheers.
PD: nice video and awesome pilotage!
Show us the strength and weaknesses of the FW-190
That landing was mint!
Amazing stuff, we need more!
I kinda wanna see GS do a raid in the PO-2.
It would be great if you carried out the battle in which Mexico participated with squad 201
Any chance of taking a Boulton Paul Defiant for a spin? Could prove entertaining.
Great videos. Subbed. 🇬🇧👍🇬🇧🇨🇦
Quick question: in each video intro, the electronic sound (the 'growl' ) is that an electronic warfare alarm? As would hear in (80s?) planes? Am sure i have heard it in 80s NY style hip hop. Would be interested to know the origin. The world is an interesting place!
@@Surv1ve_Thrive I believe the intro is a cockpit recording from an US F-14 shooting sown a Libyan MIG over Tobruk. The affects sound, not sure....maybe from DCS when you get pwnd by a missile lol
I would like to see you fly the bf-110 g-2 as a heavy fighter with the 2 30mm and the 2 20mm if that one is in il-2.
there is a 110 g2 but it has 2x 20mm and some mgs.
What about some FW 190 ? You haven't done anything on that yet
I am guessing he doesn't want to try it as they can't turn at all..on one video he was lighting them up with a Mosquito. GS likes the turning fight quite often, and that sure isn't the FWs strength.
That one Me 110 crewman wonders why the sun is shining and still he is sitting in the wet...
Love the VR stuff!
Sidewinder, on your dynamic WW2 server could you announce a date & time & have a big naval confrontation happening ?
Love that grilled Swiss cheese of a 110!
How could I do this mission?
Did the cannon on your starboard wing jam? I couldn't see a muzzle flash from it on that last kill.
I don’t think it jammed I think it was out of ammo
So the Spit can kill too / nice work.
Any chance of GS in spitfire fighting Sunde in 109?
i would like to see some P 38 stuff TANKS
True legend
You seem to like the heavy hitters, you should give the P-39 a try. That 37mm gun makes big boom.
Blood pumping yes
Any chance of getting you in a varjo aero VR headset to hear your thoughts?
IL-2 ?! Have there been upgrades or updates? I thought that was old school and evolved into 'War Thunder'.
Keep it up!
Can you do a night intruder mission with the Mosquito? Mosquitoes would hang around German airfields at night and attack enemy aircraft taking off or landing, either through radar or the German planes leaving their wing lights on.
Luv it!
On paper the Fw 190D and Bf 109K are comparable to the Spit XIV, but is it me, or is the Spit better at fighting multiple enemies at once? You can throw it around more, while the German planes require more setting up to fight effectively, I think.
The Mk XIV was superior. In actual aerial combat, it had no peers.
Maybe I missed it, but can you do a video showing your VR and computer setup? Just bought IL2 and would love to run a similar VR setup as you.
How is the VR performance compared to DCS?
what do you use to gererate these big missions?
You should dogfight with Wolfpack345! I think that’d be an interesting fight
Can you do a spitfire vs P-51 dog fight??
nice.liking the il-2 content
I'm really curious what you set your convergence at in something like the Spitfire? You do a lot of great mid range deflection shooting, yet still place excellent shots up close!
thanks man, I have it set at 250
Are the keyboard controls for this game any good?
ok daft question time and maybe a little off topic ............did the spitfire mk 22/24 ever achieve an air to air victory like maybe the suez crisis or even korea ?
I'm not sure to be honest, but I think if anyone scored any kills with it after world war 2 it would be the israelis in the early days of their conflict. They were even using bf109s I believe.
Repping the D day invasion colour.
You appear to be the best Fighter Pilot I have found so far online.
Far too kind of an assessment
WWII fighter tactics ignorant, but when you talk about the plane's "energy state", is that simply a function of its speed? Or more to it than that? Just curious - I enjoy how you describe the tactics you are seeing in your opponent and implementing yourself. Part two if you'd grant me it - does IL-2 penalize a player for a death, versus bailing out?
Energy = kinetic and potential energy (speed and altitude). You need the "energy" to manuver. Every manuver will cost you speed and or altitude and a high energy state means that you can do more things. (like going into the vertical or doing a barrel roll). If you are slow (low energy), you cant do much and you are a easy fixed target in the sky.
@@Mike_Romeo Appreciated Mike!
Can we see the LA5 or LA9? From the soviet union?
Can there be a Me262 vedio please :)
He did one not too long ago ruclips.net/video/9LQX3dYIBEY/видео.html
poor 110's, it pains me to see me109's and me110's being shewed up
Can you make a video of Ki-61 😁
I wana see a Lancaster mission. Can’t you do the dam buster attack or the game don’t have Lancaster’s?
No Lancasters in game
"nevermind" :D
Trying to decide if its worth getting this game, your videos will help with that, but how much repeatability do you think this game has ?
Well if I thought it was very repeatable I wouldn’t use it for content, maybe that helps to answer your question?
@@GrowlingSidewinder Haha meant to say replayable, but yes a very fair point. thank you ^^
Macchi v Hurricane or visa versa 👍😎
Thinking about getting into the game. How hard is it to play when you have no experience with flight sims and no HOTAS setup?
set up is half the fight. if you are just on mouse ans keyboard you will struggle
just joystick should be enough. expect several days to fiddle with your controls as u try out what works for u.
The IL-2 games tend to have a lot of assist options you can turn on. I definitely used a lot of stuff like turning the cockpit off and just displaying airspeed and altitude directly, time acceleration/deceleration, and all the spotting stuff the game had in the old forgotten battles game from the franchise.
i would love to see another video on the p-38 maybe some later variants like the p-38-L
Try playing the mk24 spitfire
How do you fly the mk XiV? its locked in mine and i cant find it in the steam dlc. I can only fly the mk iX.
try getting it off their site
Can you make a video on indian HAL Tejas
He cant because there is no Tejas for any simulator.
What is your VR device?
He is using a Oculus Rift S
Je cherche un gamer français qui puisse m'expliquer si il existe des versions récentes de IL2 qu'on peut faire tourner sur Windows 10 ou 11 ?
Hi
How is The Spit XIV compared to TempestV?
Thankyou
Superior at medium to high altitudes. A bit slower at low altitude though it climbs better across the board.
Hi. I found your channel the other day and subscribed.
I love watching your RUclips content which’s very entertaining.
I bought Ace Combat 7 a few months ago. I must admit that I struggled using my controller so I decided to save for the right equipment before I proceed any more.
So in the meantime I was looking for reviews on flight sticks and throttles etc, l’ve decided to go for the Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog.
After watching your RUclips content I’ve also bought IL-2 Sturmovik as it was on offer.
I will probably get the thrustmaster TFRP T-Flight rudder pedals, what are your thoughts on these pedals.
I’m on pc, we’ll laptop really.
Any pointers as I don’t know anyone else to ask will be appreciated.
In the meantime I will just keep on watching, cheers.
Hi phil, I had the TM TFRP pedals I didn't mind them, theyre ok and they get the job done I recommend TRP pedals by thrustmaster if you can afford the extra cost they are a much much better pedal. if not, there is nothing wrong with the TFRP pedals for the price range theyre at.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Hi, and thank you for your prompt reply.
I’ve just been google searching your recommendation in regards to the TRP pedals, but I couldn’t find anything.
Would it be the Thrustmaster Pendular Rudders. I’ve read up reviews on these pedals and they’re exceptional.
@@Phill16s yes, thats right sorry I said TRP I mean TPR. I have those ones now, and they are indeed exceptional, so if you can swing it I would get these ones. I got the TFRP ones before and in hindsight I wish I had just saved that money and used it to get the TPR right from the start but thats just me.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Hi again. I always like to research items that I’m going to part with my money for.
Do you think that I would manage ok without rudder pedals until I can afford the better ones.
I would be a complete novice to flight simulators, but I’m looking forward to getting started.
Thanks again.
well, if you've chosen the Thrustmaster Warthog you might want to consider some pedals, some sticks like the T-16000M a bit of a cheaper stick but it comes with a twist functionality that can used as rudders. This isn't available on the Thrustmaster Warthog so you will need some sort of pedal to compensate for that.
Foke wulf 190 pls
Cool
why do i want him to play Warthunder simulator mode
He wont. He said it several times that WT (even in "sim" mode) is to arcade for him.
