    LAlt+C gets rid of the cockpit clicker and lets you use the mouse for looking around. Then LAlt+C will enable it again.
    Also if you have DCS on standalone you can trial different aircraft and maps for 2 weeks then again after 6 months for each one you try. And you can trial more than one thing at a time.

      VR isn't for DCS imo, unless you're willing to spend 20k on a setup. really bad advice for a new player lmao.
      unless your pc or vr headset is a monster and you have enough buttons/control surfaces VR isn't good at all for dcs as you have to dump the graphics into the gutter to be able to run it on a quest 2. not worth the money. better off buying a good hotas and headtracking of any kind. once you're certain, then start upgrading and investing in VR.
      (Full fidelity is a must imo even if its overwhelming at first, fc3 is perfect for vr but fc3 is meh)
      get a cheap webcam, set up trackIR, buy a cheap throttle and pedals. see how you like it. then upgrade.

    IMO, the best "starter plane" for DCS is the F-86. Simple controls, benign handling (as compared to P-51), but enough detail to pique your interest -- and, it's a blast to fly.
    The polar opposite is the F-4E -- not only do you have two of everything, but there are some ops that can only be done from the front or rear cockpit, and it flies like a brick.
    VR is a double-edged sword: it's more immersive and easier to fly in VR, but you have to have full HOTAS (and then some) because you can't just look at the keyboard.
    I fly VR and use VoiceAttack to talk to ground crew / GIB, works surprisingly well, but it's a lot of work to get controls mapped.

    If WT would make it harder to takeoff and land (like actually having to do 3 point touchdowns with close to stall speed) - It would help WT players with DCS alot. In DCS the Modules on Realistic Settings are all having their own tactic to take off and land. And that is also not simulated in WT. Not to mention Engine Management etc. It is like going from driving a Tesla to racing in a Dodge Viper. And you need a lot of time to train this in every WW-2 Module because they are all very different. And then comes realistic settings in multiplayer without autoheadtracking a enemy. Then you need to buy a HOTAS and at least Track-IR and get used to it. So many hurdles that it is almost a shame when people like that try something like DCS. Mostly a waste of their time and the same count's for people trying to help them getting into it! You need to be hardcore to get over this, and most WT players are Shooter People with no patience. I don't want to blame Shooter Fans, just that they have to understand that they enter a totally different enviroment with DCS. It is like climbing a mountain of pain to reach satisfaction. And for the most of them - This is not worth it!

And if you don't want to fly, that's fine too: You can jsut take the Apache, or Phantom, or Strike Eagle and we can drop some bombs or fire some hellfires onto targets: I'd fly you around then^^

    It isn't easy, is it? I got over a thousand kills in a day in WT, before I stopped playing any and all Russian games. Just recently got the F/A-18 airborne, still am a ways from shooting anything, even AI, down. It's a real learning curve, but i like to learn, and bonus, Putin doesn't get a single kopek. Watch the cockpit tutorials over and over, then fly the mishes where you start in the air, and go around the cockpit, clicking everything, until you get the hang of it. It's Okay to crash, until you learn it, durn it.

    • @WanderfalkeAT
      @WanderfalkeAT Месяц назад

      You actually have 2000 Hours in actual WW-2 Planes for real? Remember those aren't Cessna's or Pub's but high powered Racehorses with way too much power and way too small wings. Quite a difference from GA planes. Not to mention that the Me-109 killed more Piots in Training than in Combat should give you a hint how hard it was. And if you talk about the IL-2 Series then go back to your room, your classroom is down the stairs with the smaller chairs. Just saying - "Trimonaslider" should shut you up then.

    Another tip: You can bind your individual brakes to axis, if you had rudder pedals with toe brakes. If you don't, you could use a controller with it's triggers so your brakes aren't either 0% or 100%. It'll make braking a lot easier on landing so you don't smash your prop on the ground.

    You may be able to rebind your mouse with a modifier key to look around. Example: You press a side mouse button and move your mouse to look around. If you're willing to spend the money, better options are either to get a head tracker just to look around, or fly in VR.
