- Need a quick and easy meal to make for your crowd? Frito pie is the answer! Watch us make this classic cowboy favorite LIVE on our RUclips channel.
If you're cooking LIVE with us- grab these ingredients:
2 lbs. ground beef
1 yellow onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 cup diced tomatoes
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 15 oz can enchilada sauce
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2-3 cups Frito corn chips
Cheers Kent, I'm 64 years old and I was raised on Frito Pie. We always had two choices at dinner time. Take it or leave it.
Yep!
And if there wasn't any left by the time you got to it.... "Well, it was there for ya!" Too bad so sad 😢😅
Love that! ❤ “take it or leave it” 😂
lol, I'm the same age, and us kids had take it or leave it dinners too. Mom or Dad weren't short order cooks. Now on fish Friday's I don't recall what my brother ate, he hated fish of any kind. Maybe he had grilled cheese or PB&J lol.
My mom said if you want seçoñds you better get them them the 1st time. Miss you mom and your wisdom.
Bless him for his patience. I think it would have been really difficult for me to remain patient being interrupted so many times while attempting to present a recipe.
I was about to say the same thing this is my first time watching and was thinking I want to see this recipe if she would just let him do it.
Agree!
They're PARTNERS!!!
This lady should stop interrupting it's very annoying. This is his show not her's.
This was a live stream. She was mainly relaying the messages from the viewers that were watching at the time. You get that with live streams. Shannon is an asset to these videos imo.
We never had frito pie growing up in the 50's. My mother wasn't much of a cook. She thought burnt was a spice. In our house we prayed after we ate.
OH NOO. Never??? I grew up in the '50s and '60s too. When I was in grade school in Oklahoma. Lunchtime was when all the kids ran to the place across the street where we could get hot dogs, Fritos, and yes... soda pop and candy. We would get a hot dog, Fritos with mustard, and a soda. We always went back to class with yellow fingers 🤣😂. Then it was Fritos with mustard and a little bit of chili...in the bag if we couldn't afford the hot dog too. Gosh, those were the days. I am so sorry so many of you missed those times 😭 😭
My Mother could burn water on both sides
My granddad would cook big racks of beef ribs by throwing them on the grill and cooking them like a steak....
@@lmcdon11 still laff'n... Thank U
@allenferry9632😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
My wife and I got married so young that Frito Pie was one of our favs Made with canned chili,Fritos, and onion. We learned recipes together.
Sonic used to have Frito Chili Pie on their menu. I haven't seen it lately. But they were good.
My Cajun great granny ..put a tablespoon of bacon grease in everything she cooked../she also chewed snuff ,until she was 80…..she lived to 96…told her daughter (she outlived 11 of 13 kids) that she was going to the Lord tonight…bathed and went to sleep ,forever…R.I.P. Laura Casprie
Amazing story. My mom cooked with bacon grease too. I'm sure they're talking about it, up there right now.
I honestly believe that bacon will be on the menu at the Lord's table during the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. A never ending plate of the best and thickest bacon cooked perfectly. 👍
The Frito Bandito was *the very reason* I started eating Fritos! I loved him💖
I used to collect the Frito bandito erasers. Remember them?
Oh, I figured that was a nickname for the Beag, since Beagles are prone to be food thieves.
Me too
Hi Kent, and shannon, I am from Oklahoma. I am also totally blind and your descriptions and details of your recipes makes it pretty easy for me to follow along. God bless you and shannon and of course your four-legged babies.🥰
God bless you
just wanted to let you know that he probably looks just like you are imagining
Bless you
Had my first Frito Pie as an 18-year old kid in 1967 at Shepard Air Force Base in Texas. It was a lot simpler than Cowboy Kent's recipe here - it was simply a paper boat (like they used to serve french fries in) with about 3/4 cup of Fritos, 3/4 cup of spicy chili con carne, and a half cup of cheddar cheese, with that combination baked together until the cheese was melted and chili hot and starting to blend with the Fritos. Served with a generous handful of those diced onions like Kent's sprinkled on top. I'll never forget it!
Every Texas High School football game right there. Fritos in the boat, dump chili over them, diced raw onions, cheddar cheese, and top it off with jalapenos. I can hear the sounds and smell the smells of the concessions, and brats and meat grilling for the FFA stand.
Yeah, buddy!!!@@FH-cn3mg
Went there for 43131 training 40 miles from civilization 4 ft from hell was sayin in 80
I had something similar at my elementary school in the 80’s lol, but it was the big Frito scoops with chili and nacho cheese. I’d order it often at the cafeteria and it made me chubby.🤣🤦🏻♀️
@@heathereagleson1098 What do you call cheese that doesn't belong to you? Nacho cheese!

Hey Kent,
Frito Chili Pie with Cheese and Sour Cream
I'm 58 and I've been eating this since I was
a kid in the 70's, Thank You and God Bless You.
🤠🐶🐴
Yes Sir!! I'm 50 and have eaten this for as long as I can remember. If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure it is a food group of it's own here in Texas. 🤠😎
In 55 and have been eating Frito pie since I was a kid in the 70's also.
Yeah, you know, not sure the kids these days have any clue how tasty it truly is. Although, anything that can be used as a fire starter with just one chip always makes you think. So yummy though!
I am 74 meat and cheese only.
@@markknister6272 Well, You Sir have EARNED the right to eat whatever the hell you want to. In my humble opinion. I've got nothing but respect for you Sir.
I don't see myself making it to that age unfortunately. I'm falling apart way to fast.🤕
I've been making these for decades, but I've never seen the Fritos put on top before. I've always put the Fritos in bowl, then cheese, chili (or taco) mix, and cheese on top. I will try this method next time.
I grew up in the 50s and 60s, there was only one Frito corn chip. The A&W Root Beer Stand made the best Frito Pie for $0.25
My most fond memories of Frito pie. Was there an A&W root beer in Durango Colorado, thank you for confirming this was not a false memory. Because it’s been 50 years.
I also grew up in the 50s and 60s, I remember the A&W Root Beer, IIRC the burgers came in sizes, Mama Bear Papa Bear. Don't recall the Frito Pie though. Going there was a special treat, for us it was a fine dining event😁😁😁
Yup. Growing up in the 60s, in rural Duncan Oklahoma with 5 brothers and sisters and dad a welder for Haliburton, A&W was a rare treat.
I remember 15 cents for a bottle of Pepsi.
@@sharonwalberg5438
I remember .10 cents.
Hey cowboy Kent, love your dancing moves. I can smell that through the TV. I watch you for ideas for our Sunday suppers. I don't think many people have Sundays dinners anymore. Good food, good company around the supper table , all the grandkids, tell us the events of the day. We live on a big farm,so my hubby bought me a huge bell, the grands kids could be out of hollering distance, I just ring that bell, they all come running. Grandma, up in Trinity county,ca..
Yep, old enough to remember the Frito Bandito! Great vid!
Me too ❤
I had a Cajun grandma and grandpa. It was always good stories, good times, good memories and some sure good food. Grand Pap was a good cook but MiMi was the champion.
Thanks Shannon for introducing that old cowboy to youtube and the rest of the world. I sure do enjoy your channel, stories, and recipes. God bless you both and the pups.
When I was in high school there was a drive inn across the road and they made their Frito pies in the bag and they were so yummy. I still love them at 74.
This guy is a national treasure...
If you were born and raised in Texas, then you know about Fritos. Cowboy Kent's cooking looks plum good
Don't hate me, but in my 74 years here in Chicago I'd never heard of Frito pie. Sounds mighty tasty and I'll definitely be giving it a try soon.
Yes sir! Give 'er a try at least once before you go home. Hopefully you can find some place that doesn't use canned chili.
The frito bag makes a good disposable container, so a perfect for outdoor activities. Also makes a good topping or base for chili.
@@gotdangedcommiesitellyahwa6298 can chili is for fund raising.
We made this with the Rotel with Hatch Chile and it was spectacular!!! We really enjoy watching you, Shan and your babies!!
Omg when Kent says what wine pars well with Frito Pie, I immediately thought a Dr Pepper, and then Shan said Dr Pepper. I actually cheered!
This is a good American family that makes me very happy watching them preform . Love you all Kent Rollins and family .
Yes, all here for the chili cheese Fritos. Those are the default variety to me. Love that extra bit of flavor.
I have to limit the size of the bag of the chili cheese flavor because I find them incredibly addictive.
They challenge my motto of “everything in moderation.”
I've recently found jalapeno Fritos and, for me, they add that extra flavor and touch of heat. Good luck and God bless.
You honestly bring light to our often dark world!
I love that Baseball Frito Pie!
Small bag of Fritos, pour some chili over it & top off with Cheddar cheese! Oh my!
I gotta make some of this but I don't do wine.
In Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Woolworth store on the Plaza started the Frito pie- bag of Fritos, chile red and beans with some cheese on top. They believe they were first. Been there and had some. Awesome quick meal.
Still open and still available!
Grew up eating Frito Pie out of a bag at the ball games in Texas. Takes me back to my childhood. I think I’ll celebrate my next birthday with that for everybody. Thank you from my heart. ♥️
I absolutely love your & Shans channel, I'm addicted to it! Also, I love how you remember the service men & women, & the Veterans! I had 4 uncles in WWII, 1 brother in Vietnam, & 1 brother in Korea!

What a lovely “cowboy kitchen”! I subscribed so fast just for the kitchen cabinets lol. I really love country food and learning new recipes on RUclips.
I love these videos. The food always looks great, and Kent seems like such a pleasant person to be around 😊

I’m from Alberta Canada and have never heard of Frito pie, looks interesting though. I’m pretty new here but I’ve really enjoyed watching your videos, and I’ve learned a lot, thank you. God bless you both.
Thanks so much for all you do, Kent. You're a great teacher. God bless you and yours!
You and Shan are more than soul mates! You are so good together!! Keep up the excellent videos!! ♥️🙏🏼🐾🙏🏼♥️
I’ve followed you for the last 4 or 5 years and have never been disappointed in any show you’ve put on. Your recent one with the hatch green chile company was great. I’m in Las Cruces and use young guns chiles in numerous recipes and enjoy them. Today is a butternut squash casserole with cheese croutons and sausage…it will get the green chile treatment. Keep on cooking my friend and keep em coming!;)
Wow...the Frito Chili Pie has come a long way since the '50s. And so has mine. I still like mine with chili, homemade of course. Lettuce, tomatoes and lots of cheese. Don't forget the Tabasco sauce..mmm...mmm. Makin' me hungry. I admit I want to try yours now. Thanks for sharing.
Haven't had this in forever, thanks for the reminder and the help with additional flavor ideas.
Back in the 50s and 60s my mother made her version of Frito pie. On a cold day she would open a can of Wolf brand chili, layer with onions and cheese bake 'til bubbly, and top with Fritos. My dad and I loved it! I am going to try your home made chili for sure for my next Frito pie. And I top with sour cream...yummy!
I'm so glad I came upon your channel. I was in a better mood after watching you. God bless you and your amazing wife ❤ I'm going to try this recipe 😋
Watching with my 10 year old son. He says he’s impressed that “someone his ages knows how to livestream” 😅
Going to try this one on Saturday night.
Thanks Kent & Shan. God bless you and your family.
From the UK, you've put some love into our food, absolutely love this guy and food. The first time I experienced nachos and melted cheese was at a pittsburg steelers game when visiting my then girlfriend. Nothing I'd ever experienced over here. Stay well all and keep cooking. 🙏 ❤️
The kids love Fritos with chilli. This is a cool creative set.🐸🍺🔪🔥
I love making this with the kids around after a game or at a cookout. It's a fun tasty simple treat.
This is a great change up, and a great option for the days Mother Nature keeps you indoors. As a veteran and a would be cook, I really look forward to meeting both you and Shannon in Lebanon.
this is the best food ever cooked. I love Frito Pie. And yes, I know the Frito Bandito. I miss him. Aye, yi yi!
@Koni Billings YES we miss the Frito Bandito too!
Kent and Shannon, you guys are the best! My two girls and i just love your channel. The pie looks awesome! Brings back memories of the local fair! Going to have to make this! God Bless you both!
On my way to get a bag of Fritos, then back home to listen to Bob Wills, ET and watch Mr. Kent.
I could be wrong, but I believe they used Wolf Brand chili in the Frito pies where I went to high school. The Frito pie and an ice-cold Coke or Dr. Pepper to wash it down were perfect with the Friday Night Lights.
AND IN TEXAS!!!
I love, love Wolf mild brand chili without beans. My goodness it’s good!
Wolf brand chili and that nacho cheese … that’s a frito pie!
🇺🇲 Kent and Shannon, just love your videos, looking forward to getting your cookbooks very soon and can't wait to try your recipes, GOD BLESS YOU ALL, and being a veteran I always appreciate when you give honor to the military and our veterans, keep up the great work.🇺🇲🦝

Thanks for keeping the Frito Pie alive! 👍👍
Looks good! I mix Fritos in the meat mix then add more on the top before I bake it. Plus I’ve got to have diced chilis in mine and it definitely has to have beans in it.😋❤
To thicken that meat sauce you could sprinkle instant potatoes , my mom could make an awesome frito pie !!! I’m a displaced okie from Stilwell wishing I could go back, but I don’t travel much any more I’m almost
83 but I still love frito pie
In 1967 I lived in Lancaster California and my Dad was a Little League coach for my little brother. I worked in the concession stand and we would have a little bag of Fritos and would put Chili, cheese and onion oh so good 💯

I had my first Frito pie at my elementary school Halloween carnival in the early 60’s. I just make chili and pour over Fritos top with chopped onions and cheese and some chopped jalapeños. Love Cowboy Kent 👍🙏❤️

Hey Kent, Shannon, and the four-legged man's best friend. Hi from a very wet and cold winters day in South Africa. Just seen this "Frito Pie". Please excuse me, never heard of it or seen it before until now and man oh man, that looks delicious. Can't wait to try it out with my family at home. I'm almost certain we going to love it. I've seen some of your views about variations. However, since it will be my first time making this dish, I will stick to what I've seen on the video. Here in SA, we have 3 variations on Frito's, Tomato, Barbecue, and Sweet Chilli flavour. You and Shannon compliment each other and make an amazing couple. I wish that "rubs" off to all couples around the world.......man the world will be a better place to live in 😂. May the Lord keep you. God bless and take care 🙏
I've had Frito pie since childhood. They were made very differently than you are making them. Fritos (one medium pkg, slit down the side); add hamburger meat made with salt, pepper and chili powder; Hot red Hatch chile sauce, (to taste), cheese, a little onion, lettuce, tomatoes. That was it. Delish. The Hatch chile made this dish.
Love your fur babies and God Bless y'all thank you for sharing this video and God Bless y'all 🙏 Prayers for all of us !!!

Been through there many times on my way to the Gila
Woolworth’s in Santa Fe was the birthplace of the Frito pie. Woolworths is no longer on the plaza but they still sell the original at the 5 and dime in the old Woolworth’s building.
I ate it there last summer!
