The sticker location is important for accurate club speed. The toe of the club travels faster than the center of the clubhead during the swing due to the closure of the clubhead. If the GC3 expects the sticker is in the center, but in fact it is on the toe, it should report a higher than accurate club speed number. This likely explains some or all of the differences in club speed reported. Ball speeds, on the other hand, should be the same (including with trackman), so that is concerning.
This is a great comment! That makes complete sense to me now. I'm going to pin this comment to the top. And that's my thoughts exactly!! Ball speed is a standard metric MPH it's not like they are using their own proprietary methods of measuring speed. Cheers
I definitely agree with the stickers portion of this comment. A sticker closer to the camera could appear to travel faster, but logically I have a hard time agreeing with the “ball speed should be the same” part. If you think about a radar unit measuring speed, it has much more time to determine the speed of the ball when compared to a photometric unit trying to measure speed. during the acceleration, part of the ball flight. So a 1-2ish mile an hour difference actually sounds quite remarkable to me and I would call it splitting hairs.
Again, great stuff Joe. I know these tests take a lot of time to set up the units so they’re aligned properly and to get accurate data so I really appreciate the test. Great stuff.
Thanks mate! I really appreciate that comment. I tried to get it out as quickly as I could especially after I had the results and I knew people were as interested as me!! Cheers
Just for anyone considering this launch monitor… I think the vast majority of us are not single digit handicappers. I bought the EM about a month ago and I am delighted with it. It is a quality unit, is a major upgrade from my Garman or 10, and I have been very pleased with the support I have received from Uneekor. As a high handicapper I can no way appreciate a couple of yards or a 5% discrepancy on a spin or MPH. As with other launch monitors on the market, they do get updated and I do believe any wrinkles will be ironed out. I just wanted to throw this out there as a vote for the EM even though through the eyes of excellent golfers it apparently has not been completely fine tuned.
I’m a terrible golfer who wants to get better though, and I didn’t spend almost $4k for a device that is sometimes completely wrong. I bought it for feedback on shots and so I could confidently (data wise) use driver indoors (with the R10 I’ve given up on driver inside). On the flip side, “you get what you pay for” and I would either need to get a Bushnell, pay $3500 to get ball and club, AND pay for an expensive annual sub, or pay almost double to get a sub less GC3. At this point I kind of wish I had just kept saving for a GC3, and stuck with the industry leader.
Watched some more of the video and it was reassuring data wise, so while the unit isn’t perfect, maybe it’s “good enough”. I just hope they resolve some of the bugginess.
Yes I think it will get better and improve I just hope it happens quickly. You high handicappers need to stop selling yourself short! You deserve the accuracy as much as a single digit handicapper. Paying this much for a launch monitor we should all have extremely accurate data especially when you can get an MLM2PRO that right now arguably has more accurate data.. and at least has a lot less crazy mis reads than the Mini. But I do think it will get better with updates like all these launch monitors will. I'd definitely love some correspondence from Uneekor though or at least a statement to put our minds at ease. I had a subscriber say he's been having these mis read issues since June when he bought his unit which is a bit of a concern. Hopefully my little channel can help in some way to get the word back to Uneekor. Or at least let potential buyers know it's not a GC3 right now... You can't take it out the box and expect perfect data... It will take time unfortunately. That's another thing that annoyed me all the reviews I saw and based my buying decision on had this thing basically being a perfect unit.. I should have known better but that's another reason I like to put my experience out there. It's the same with the MLM2PRO I was the only one saying and reporting the issues 😂. I did take a bit of heat for that but then was validated when Rapsodo came out with statements saying what I had said in my videos 😅.
I found this level of detail to be very interesting as I did the same sort of tests against my brother's GC3 right after getting my Eye Mini in July. Strangely, I found the opposite though, my Eye Mini ball speeds were very consistently 1-2mph FASTER than the GC3 across all clubs and with 100+ shots. There have been firmware updates since I did those tests, so re-testing now may yield different results. The erratic club speeds and occasional wild lateral spin/spin axis are certainly things that I have noticed as well and I really hope they can fully iron those out because those can be real round-killers! Thanks for this content - subbed.
Thanks for taking the time to write this comment! I'd absolutely love to hear how the testing goes if you do another.. I will hopefully be testing against a GC Quad soon head to head so I'll definitely put those results out there. It makes me wonder about the tolerance between all the eye mini units and also foresight stuff.. I'd actually love to test the eye mini out vs another eye mini! The real thing like you said they NEED to sort out is the wild erratic misreads... Drives me absolutely crazy 🤣
Hey Joe, thanks a lot for all the hard work performed in order to evaluate the recently "launched" Eye Mini. Hopefully Uneekor is going to cooperate with you and others + improve the Eye Mini before they lose our trust. Cheers!
Thanks mate I really appreciate the message! I wish my channel was bigger but unfortunately I don't think this will ever be on Uneekor's radar... Maybe if my channel had more reach like say Mr shortgames or even Jay from GSV but unfortunately they look like they had the units given to them so of course..... Glowing reviews and no issues 🤣🤣 I might reach out to Jay he seems like a good guy and probably hasn't experienced any issues just because he doesn't really use it much.
Super useful, thanks. I play GSPro and I had considered swapping my trusty GC2 for an Eye Mini, but until or unless they fine tune it, I wont bother. One thing I would like to have seen included is a test of high lob shots, e.g. short, 60 degree lob shots. In my experience, these are the hardest for non-radar launch monitors to detect accurately, with frequent misreads. Perhaps one for a follow-up video?
Thanks mate! Yes that's a good thought. I didn't notice anything odd while playing the 18 holes but if I get the chance to compare it again I'll definitely be more conscious about testing that. DO NOT Upgrade right now. The GC2 is solid! It just absolutely works the only concern I have with my GC2 is the slightly inflated ball speed with drivers but honestly I trust that thing and the ball flight way more than the Mini. I never had crazy misreads with my GC2 it just worked and was super consistent. I'd definitely hold out until they get everything sorted before purchasing. Cheers
Thanks again for getting this video out! Definitely helps with my decision. Here’s praying Foresight does a deal similar to Father’s Day on Black Friday now!
Thanks mate I wish there were some honest reviews out before I bought mine 😂😭😭. I think it will definitely get better with time or that's me praying.. but right now they have a bit of work to do and this test with ball and club speeds is the least of my concerns to be honest. The thing that scared me is the complete mis reads I'm getting at least one every 18 holes in GS Pro.. it just kills your round because of course it happens at the worst time!!!
I unfortunately went with the Mini as I didn’t want to wait for their Black Friday sale to get the GC3. I wish all the info was out before I bought too. I don’t have any doubt they can fix these issues and that the Mini can be as accurate as the GC3 but hopefully the wait isn’t too long, it’s winter almost so I will be using it daily.
Hey Joe, honestly your video removed a lot of anxiety I had about my Eye Mini purchase. I just got GSPRO and was trying to learn the software and one of the things I thought I noticed was it looks like in settings it allows you to use the launch monitor carry data. Wouldn’t that eliminate your concerns about not matching the GC3 speed data because the carry would be a better match? For training & improvement the club numbers need to be better, if I was able to follow along with your analysis. This is a feel, but, to me it feels like the Club data gets better if the ball is forward in the alignment box, but I have no way to measure it to back that up. Again, I’m glad you did this because it makes me feel better about keeping my eye mini and that I’m going to be able to use it to validate my practice. My swing and ball striking is nowhere near as tight as yours so having consistent ball speed, launch angle, side angle measurements of my swings will hopefully help me allow me to work on being almost as consistent And impact imagery will provide additional feedback as to why a shot behaved the way it did. Thanks to both you and Owen for the work you did to create this post
Thanks mate yes I just admit when I was testing even though consistently it was down on ball speed it wasn't the 4-5mph I expected to see with the driver. Actually the MLM2PRO is the unit I trust the most 🤣 looking at my old video it seems like it would perfectly match the GC3. I think the Mini has a fair bit to go with software updates to fix club and ball speeds but it can definitely be fixed. Right now if they could fix the crazy mis reads that pop up every round that would be my biggest concern.. it's just happening too much and when trying to play tournament Sim golf where you cant just take a mulligan it's incredibly frustrating! And it definitely leaves a lot of doubt as to the validity of data. Then after that if they could really start focusing on the club and ball data.... Just my 2c. I'm really glad I did this test though it gives me a little bit of comfort.. at least to know what we're working with as a baseline. Cheers
@@JLagGOLF Apparently I was too Well, that is disappointing… I believe mine was too and the Laucher UI fooled me into thinking that this was a new version and just laid the same one down a second time without checking to see if it was already there
Great video. I see the same. I am pretty tuned in with my numbers. I am consistently 162-164 ball speed with driver. I feel like I’m trying to come out of my shoes to get over 160 on the eye mini. I never really see spin over 2600, until the eye mini. 2500-4800. I also see my shots with all clubs shorter than what I hit into a green on course. I live in Utah so elevation is upwards of 4500ft and some days with heat etc it gets up close to 6000+. I carry 7i 180-183. Pw 143-146. It’s extremely frustrating paying 4000$ for a unit that’s just not right. I’m almost wishing I went with foresight over uneekor at this point
I feel the exact same way mate.. Thanks for the comment! I think all we can do is keep reporting all the issues through to Uneekor and hope that they listen to their customers.. I’m about 1/2 a club short through the bag which is just frustrating as like you said I know how far I hit it on course. The sad thing is if I’m going to map my bag I’m reaching for the MLM2PRO not the eye mini…. That should say enough :(. I just really home we get some good updates come through or at least some kind of communication from the company. The more emails they get giving honest feedback the better and if you do feel free to link the video. Fingers crossed!!
Great insight again Joe, keep em coming for us guys who have mini’s on the way 👌 Unless it’s stuff thats gona give us heart attacks then maybe leave it alone Ah 👍😌
Hahahaha 🤣 thanks mate! Hopefully it's all sorted with an update when yours arrives. At least if they could eliminate the crazy mis read shots for you... Let's start there. 🤞🤞
@@JLagGOLF Yeah hope so mate, got to be an upgrade on sky trak? Well and truly had enough of the complete no reads and the long delays. Enjoying the channel mate hope it keeps growing for ya 👍
The only problem here is that these companies have confirmed that putting 2 infrared units next to each other causes interference, so there is no way to know if these results were true
Yeah absolutely I agree interference can be an issue. Whenever I test these units or do these videos I do a LOT of testing with units both side by side and then individually on the same day. The findings I present are always over everything I see.
The average launch angle of the eye mini is close to 3 degrees higher than the GC3. This would have a large impact the units are using to calculate the carry distance. The other thing is the units were not lined up correctly.
Hi Joe, thank you for all of this testing. I just purchased a Mini and was a little concerned after your first review. This has put my mind at ease. One question, the Mini displays the bal speeds as a decimal number XXX.X and GC3 is whole number XXX is it possible that GC rounds up to whole number in calculation? If so when Mini reads 100.1 would GC3 round up to 101?
Thanks mate! So on the actual unit itself the GC3 will round data up but only when it's over .5 if that makes sense.. the data in GS Pro however is in decimal places so the exported data is exact numbers. Cheers
Hey mate this was the 2.2.8 firmware where spin axis was quite good on the eye mini. In this test I was really more focused on the club and ball speeds as they were wrong so I didn't want to have too many variables or things in the test I tried to just keep it at those two.
@@JLagGOLF but you are comparing it to GC3 which is the gold standard of ball data…. And you can see in your data how OFF the spin axis is… yet you don’t mention it at all in this video
@@jackedupswing4813 Yes sorry the whole test for me with this one was club and ball speeds.. I would love to get a GC3 and do a test in my own room so I know I can get the units completely aligned and dialed in. It's hard to go into someone else's environment with limited time and access and do a 100 percent thorough test against every data point.. I'm hoping in the future I can do more tests in my own room 🤞🤞🤞🤞 first I need a GC3 or Quad 🤣 need a spare $12k for the GC3
Hey Joe, do you know if there have been any updates to the uneekor eye mini and eye mini lite? Just purchased this one but hope this has gotten fixed..
Hey mate absolutely the last update has fixed the spin axis issues so it's performing great now. The only outstanding issues for me now are the odd no read which to be fair is going to happen with any launch monitor. They have released a few betas that fix the issue but there are other minor issues with the beta like club speed issues. I have reported them so hopefully it's fixed before the actual release to the public 👍👍 You will LOVE the EML Cheers
@@JLagGOLF Ok thanks I watched your other video about the recent update. I am upgrading from R10 and I found the R10 to be pretty good for the last year. Excited to see how this one stands up.
Yes and I just had a subscriber say the extra club speed from the GC3 is probably because the unit bases it's speed from the dot in the middle and the toe will be working quicker than the middle of the club due to the closure rate which makes sense. Cheers
Joe if you’re going be picky about the numbers you should really follow the manufacturers guidelines (where the dots are placed) to be fair to both monitors.
Thanks for the feedback mate so the dots placed on the club are only for club data. The ball data and spin axis is what I was testing here. The good news is Uneekor saw this and fixed all the issues! 👍 The eye mini is now performing fantastic and there aren't any spin axis issues anymore.
@@JLagGOLF for a high handicapper is it more important to have a low cost solution that isn’t as accurate (aka r-10 or mlm) or spend the $$ to get near perfection like this uneekor or launch pro?
Honestly it's all about what you want to get out of it. If you want a full simulator experience then you can't go past the Eye Mini Lite which is currently on sale for 20 percent off.. it's just such a great device for the price. If you are wanting something that you can take outdoors and use 50 percent of the time indoors then the MLM2PRO is fantastic for that! It's incredibly accurate but has limitations like no putting and the chipping isn't quite yet refined. I might have to do an update on which launch monitor should people buy.. @@Steve-qn8gn
Good test Joe. I get your concern with the ball speed discreptencies however the biggest let down ive seen in the mini is the spin axis side spin numbers, not only on your vodeos but others aswell. Is it possible to setup these two side by side perfectly to test that further? Even tho I think Ive already made up my mind on the gc3 over the mini it would still be nice to see those differences. Im not adjusting my swing for 3mph difference but for swing direction Im adjusting as I go and I would hate to get stuck in a rabbit hole because of faulty readings. Thanks
Thanks mate so what I will say is that the GC3 when I played 18 holes was very consistent... In terms of shot shape. I do think the Mini is very consistent as well... I'm going to try and test the MLM2PRO against another big unit soon fingers crossed so I might be able to use that as a reference against the mini! Right now if I could do it over I'd wait and buy the GC3. It just works out the box... This mini is going to need updates for god knows how long to get it hopefully in the same league as the GC3. Cheers
Possible interference however I have tested with each unit individually and had the exact same results. Both of these units use cameras and infrared so the chances of interference are minimal however still present. The GC2 which uses a flash definitely struggles with having an infrared unit like the MLM2PRO going at the same time. Cheers
@@JLagGOLF Since any of the updates, have you seen any improvements on the crazy miss reads with driver? My Mini is coming in next week. This video helped easy my mind a bit though
@@ben1ben2ben1Unfortunately no... I hit balls today and within 8 shots had a PW with a crazy rediculus right spin axis. It will have to be a firmware update to fix it.. I checked today and didn't see any updates available. I have also opted in for the beta updates as well. I really think the club data and ball speeds can be fixed with updates. The misreads I really hope can also be fixed with updates 🤞🤞 and hopefully all in a timely manner!!! I'm just going to keep reporting every misread through the view software.. and encourage everyone to do the same. So for reference out of the 48 shots I hit this morning I had 2 complete misreads.
Ok so if you said this to me a few weeks after I bought it then maybe! But now I have used it for a while and I know the updates that are coming... No I'd keep it. I think with the ecosystem (performance optix) this unit will keep getting better and better!
I have an EM and I am quite happy about it but I'm not has picky as you are, reason is that I'm a high HCP and my shot are any way inconsistent, so 4 yards difference in carry is ok. However what I find weird is the club speed too which is much lower that my PRGR, PRGR is not best best for carry distance accuracy but for ball speed and club speed, it is accurate! The difference is sometimes very important, my club speed is higher with the PRGR sometimes by 5 - 7 mph....
Wow that's a lot.. for me my PRGR the club speed is always consistently a little bit lower than the Mini. I wouldn't sell yourself short mate you should be absolutely picky and want this unit to be 100 percent accurate. 4-8y is a lot when it comes to carry distance. Club gapping is usually in the 10-14 yards between all your irons so we are talking half a club... To me I want accurate numbers so then I can trust them outside. I'm sure they will get there... But hopefully they fix those but misreads first! They are killing me 🤣 Also I love the PRGR I think it's a great little unit that I don't feel weird about setting up on the range behind me. Imagine taking the mini down 🤣
Hey mate unfortunately ive been told there is no returns so looks like the decision is made for me…. Tbh I was on the fence about returning it.. I do think it will improve with reliability and consistency hopefully sooner rather than later! I do think the whole Uneekor ecosystem as well is only just getting started and it was one of the big reasons I got the Eye Mini. I think if my little channel can put some sort of pressure on them to get it fixed quickly that would be good 😂 however I doubt we are even on their radar.
Hey Joe Nice video even though I have neither of the units. I still enjoy the content. Question, has anyone complained about their advanced data being upside down and left handed. I used to see the iron in the proper direction and now I only get a driver facing upside down and left handed.
Thanks mate! I really appreciate that. Is that in the GS Pro advanced data? I haven't looked that that in a while I'll have a look next time I play. If it's wrong definitely report it through to GS Pro support. I'll have a look and I'll do the same thing. Cheers
I don’t think you mentioned this and you said you weren’t watching for it. But check out the side spin, for nearly every club and shot the GC3 showed negative side spin for every shot but the Mini had a mix of side spin in both directions. While none looked crazy it appears to be poor as reading side spin. So it was 7 out of 14 iron shots the Uneekor likely read the side spin wrong. But driver was better, looks like only 1 of 8 side spin was likely read wrong.
So with the shot shape take it with a grain of salt... They weren't absolutely perfectly aligned and optimised for everything. There is also the slight chance they will interfere with each other so again take it for what it is.. I'd love to have one in my set up so I'm completely comfortable and run through the same test where they are both perfectly aligned and side by side and then after that do them individually and see the results I think that would be amazing but unfortunately I don't have the money to get a GC3 and that would be pushing the friendship with Owen a bit too far 🤣. I might be able to test against a quad soon as well but I'm thinking of comparing the Rapsodo MLM2PRO to that and seeing how that goes.
@@JLagGOLF I read somewhere that it is very likely the cameras can interfere with eachother due to the IR nature, so that could also be a possibility. I have noticed some spin that is completely wrong in my Eye Mini once in a while (very obvious ones, where the logo of the ball is not moving much on the impact camera, but it somehow reports 2000 spin Right or something like that) but for the most parts my carry distances have been spot on... I think driver is always longer carry on foresight, anything with low spin tends to get over reported...
Hmmmm...... It takes $1999 extra to unlock the Eye Mini in order to compare to the purchase of the always unlocked GC3. So a new unlocked Eye Mini versus a used GC3 at a similar price for those folks who do not want to deal with subscriptions? Three cameras vs two cameras. Leaning towards a gently used GC3 at the moment.
Yes that makes complete sense and in the US there are probably a fair few used units getting around. Here in Australia that's definitely not the case they are rare as hens teeth 🤣
Both are absolutely fantastic at putting 👍👍 with the gc3 you get VLA that the eye mini doesn't give.. but then with the eye mini you get the video replay

Cheers
@@OMG-2 Thanks! You're the man I'll look into it now
Just checked and that's the version I've been running since I got it. 😢
@@JLagGOLF Apparently I was too
Well, that is disappointing… I believe mine was too and the Laucher UI fooled me into thinking that this was a new version and just laid the same one down a second time without checking to see if it was already there
Great video.
They are working on it
Awesome I will for sure. I appreciate the great videos as well!
Great insight again Joe, keep em coming for us guys who have mini’s on the way 👌
Unless it’s stuff thats gona give us heart attacks then maybe leave it alone Ah 👍😌
Cheers
What is the best way about trying to get a GC3 in Australia? Have done a bit of research but nothing clear. Appreciate your videos!
Hey mate email Jason from Foresight Australia jason@gtapsports.com let him know you watch the channel!
Cheers mate
Why did you ignore spin axis??? Did you not notice the total opposite spin axis’s in many cases???
I have reported them so hopefully it's fixed before the actual release to the public 👍👍
You will LOVE the EML
Cheers
@@JLagGOLF Ok thanks I watched your other video about the recent update. I am upgrading from R10 and I found the R10 to be pretty good for the last year. Excited to see how this one stands up.
Thanks for doing this, Joe! Not sure if you mentioned it but how do you account for the different club sticker placement between the two LMs?
Just saw you called that point out further in the video.
Yes and I just had a subscriber say the extra club speed from the GC3 is probably because the unit bases it's speed from the dot in the middle and the toe will be working quicker than the middle of the club due to the closure rate which makes sense.
Cheers
@@JLagGOLFyep, figured the same
Joe if you’re going be picky about the numbers you should really follow the manufacturers guidelines (where the dots are placed) to be fair to both monitors.
Cheers
I added a comment. 7 of 14 iron shots the Uneekor read side spin the opposite of the GC3 but driver only 1 of 8.
Golf Simulator guy said you can't compare two camera based units side by side because of interference?
@@JLagGOLF Ok, thanks for keeping us up to date
big question if they offered your money back on the mini would you take it
Ok so if you said this to me a few weeks after I bought it then maybe!
They are killing me 🤣
Also I love the PRGR I think it's a great little unit that I don't feel weird about setting up on the range behind me. Imagine taking the mini down 🤣
The side angle on the MINI is not spin axis. It's the ball's start direction.
Yes! Sorry if I made a mistake I do know that.. I with they just called it HLA and VLA.
Are you going to keep it? I doubt in the short term the software will get changed.
@@JLagGOLF that is unfortunate. What are they afraid of with a no return policy. Enough people will see your channel to make a difference.
Cheers
Thanks for the reply Joe. Yes it is in the GSPRO advance data. I will report it to the GSPRO support. Thanks again
PUTTING ???
Both are absolutely fantastic at putting 👍👍 with the gc3 you get VLA that the eye mini doesn't give.. but then with the eye mini you get the video replay
