The thing i appreciate about wakfu is the ability to destroy the climate trough farming mayhem. I got hunted by the handful of players my server had. And every know eachother except me. I was the newcomer at time. It was the equivalent of small town. 😅 Even liked their graphics more then dofus but that one changed, ankama was aware of that all the time i suppose.
Man i remember playing this game as a kid so much, was alot of fun grinding for gear i wanted and meeting people to do dungeons with. The best experience i had was as part of a guild called "The Gears" playing as a harvester and crafter. Loads of fun
As an avid lover of waku, it makes me happy to see this video. almost everything about it is perfect. But there are a few things to keep in mind. for me, my biggest annoyances were the ram issue that is resolved by restarting the game constantly, and the PvP could be better flushed out. I've watched many 1 on 1s and they are riveting and amazing to see, but its pretty daunting for pve players to even look at pvp.

Hey I've actually gotten that memory leak issue as well, but I managed to find a work around for it. Still, without that workaround, it's because of that issue that my friends end up avoiding the game since it does have a chance of leaving them with a blue screen, which happened to me as well.
About the hex that kills three turns later, if you read the description of the state closely, you can understand that when you kill your ally that's been affected by the hex it gets revived automatically. It's not very clear but it's a nezat way to come back with full health (suicide works too).
Wakfu is going to put out a new server for mono accounts in some months, same way Dofus have, this server will limit the "alt" function (sidekicks will be allowed i think) and you can only open 1 client per account. It will be a great option for players who want to play with only 1 character and to find people alike
Nah. At the start, sure, there will be people to play with and everyone will be around the same levels, but give it some months or a year at most and the same problem of the current servers will hit the mono-account server and it will be even worse because there won't be Heroes to save anyone and the players from the first days will already had advanced meaning that those who play casually will just be left behind. The level 150 bracket will be a nightmare
@@MarleMMO no, I don't think it is a matter of like or prefferences. Wakfu is meant to be played with a full team of 6 (3-player dungeons are ok-ish but they are limited and their exp has already been nerfed), if the current big international servers already have an issue where players are unable to find parties to run content, then how in the world would a mono-account server manage to survive after a year when the playerbase progresses at different rates.
I remember playing this game years ago and while it was fun, a lot of locations were literally ghost towns due to lack of player population, with Ankama's lack of desire to promote their own game, I can't imagine it got any better.

Are you going to include things like shift+v being a toggle for showing resistances during combat ? & being able to use equips,mounts,pets in multiple item loadouts/builds by using the small arrow thing ? the resistance visual toggle was added pretty recently with 1.77 so think even old players might have missed this being a feature in the game now and its way more convenient than right clicking every single mob. also do you have any plans to play on the mono/single account server whenever that comes out ?

This is an absolutely hilarious comment that details the confusion we all have felt. Dofus, Wakfu, and Waven are all MMOs. Ankama, its developer and publisher, is an animation company. They illustrate animated series, movies, and comics. The MMOs are ways to "play" within the larger storyline. Unfortunately, the delivery of the timeline and the differences is confusing. 🥰
Played it years ago when Square Enix used to support it. Game kept changing constantly and it was hard trying to figure out builds and keeping up with the story, so I quit. I later tried to get back, but they wouldn't let me change my irl name on my ankama account which was my deadname without a ton of personal information, so I quit for good. Interesting that it's stayed alive this long though.
@MarleMMO it's not your fault lol. I just wish Ankama was more trans friendly and let us change our names more easily. Would have been more willing to give it another try, now my account is just there taking up space. 😂
@@kairi4640, I'd presume that Ankama is likely rather tolerant of modes of expression, yet it may be a technical hurdle. I know that my account's name was auto-generated (like Microsoft accounts). So, I'm stuck with it. :(

Dofus was my first MMORPG and I got lucky to be part of the wakfu alpha, still playing here and there, amazing game ! Too bad not many people know about it
what i hate about wakfu is how unforgiving it is to those who dont buy the booster pack....i play with only one character and i can feel the game nerf me as i progress...despite wearing good armour...like they're forcing me to buy the booster

One thing that is worth mentioning is that buying the ingame currency kamas with ogrines (ogrines are the currency you purchase with real money) is not damaging to the game's economy since for every tradeoff, a real player has to be offering that amount of kamas for an specific amount of ogrines. So ankama does not inject money directly in the economy, which also makes it fair to f2p players because they also can buy ogrines with in game currency
I played Wakfu way-way back when it was in closed beta. Hell not even all the cities where made when I played. I think it was the beach/water one that came last I forget the name of it something like sofukua or something like that. A big time pvper Hooks was playing a sadida back then but after open beta came out he swapped over to something else I forget. Use to have fun trying to take him down but he just out leveled me so much.

It's been a while since I've played, but Dofus/Wakfu is something that's always on my mind ever since I played Dofus back in like, 2008. Dofus unfortunately changed a little too much for me to enjoy the new mechanics, but I couldn't seem to access Dofus Classic either, so I practically felt like I had to abandon it when too much was unfamiliar to me. Wakfu has changed quite a few times, though never drastically so that I'd be put off from trying to relearn it again. Unfortunately, my last efforts into trying to get my friends to play Wakfu was plagued by issues with creating an account itself. Something which seems to have changed was the difficulty of creating an account, and I can't remember if it was on Steam or the main websit, but it seemed that my friends couldn't even get passed the hurdle of actually getting to PLAY the game. I really hope they're working to stabilise the game and the new player experience, because it's an absolute shame I can't introduce people to one of my favourite franchises of all time.
It's my second favourite MMO after Eve online. My criticisms are as follows: 1) All fights are instanced with a max of 6 players, which for a turn based game with complex mechanics makes sense, but large group action is therefore not possible for one fight. 2) Some mechanics are really not obvious, take hitting from the rear, is it only when you are directly behind them or behind the invisible line coming out from the creatures sides? Are there invisible arcs that mark rear, side and front? What if you are an eliotrope (class that makes portals and can shoot through them), if you have a portal behind someone but are stood in front does the damage count as behind or in front. A lot of this needs to be tested in game because of a general lack of good documentation and even then I still dont really know the answers to those questions.
Wakfu is the greatest MMO RPG i've played, the gameplay is perfect, the mechanics unique and fucking awesome, its just incredibly crazy how something like this can exist, sadly... the company behind it don't love their own game
@@MarleMMO they always did an awful work at fixing bugs, for a very long time they only cared about the french community, they ignored the English/Spanish community, also the booster/premium is something *you must* buy to level up, this is notable from level 136-141 and beyond, unless you pay for the booster you have to expend more than triple the time to level up, also the drop system is affected by this booster/premium feature, some items are locked behind a paywall, they show you what items you could have get if you had the booster/premium which is a predatory tactic which i really dislike, because imagine you spent an hour in a high level dungeon and the final drop, the thing you have been working so hard for, there in the drops the most expensive item or the item that you *needed* is behind a paywall. that is something i find disgusting, you will often find yourself feeling lonely in this game because the amount of players, that's why people use 2-3 accounts at the same time to do dungeons (i used 2 when i played this game) there are so many aspects in this game which i find straight painful because they just make the player experience worse
7:35 - DOTA is such a bad example to your narrative, what you're talking about is League of Legends or any other moba OTHER than DOTA 2. One of the fundamental points of DOTA is that all released heroes will be free for everybody from day 1, there's nothing you can pay for other than cosmetics in DOTA
I haven’t played Wakfu seriously in over a decade, and even then all I did was farming. My Puddly gear has been wildly leveled up since I got it, so now I can never take it off. Also, never realized there were quests for a LONG time.
Love to see more love for Wakfu! Been playing since Alpha in 2014 and the game has changed a lot ever since, for the best every time! First of all, this MMO is singleplayer friendly through Rifts now: Rifts are roguelike 40 wave survival where you will gain a lot of loot and exp for each Rift for your level. Modulus: every 15 levels, you can bring your level down by 15 and enjoy a fully Multi-Element Build. For example: I am lvl 150 and my previous modulus was at lvl 140. I can Modulus to lvl 140 or stay lvl 150 (but buy my items) until next modulus at lvl 155. Take note that rifts require 15 levels to modulate inside. Modulus lvl: 15,30,45,60,75,90,105... Rift: Tainela(lvl21), Sufokia(lvl66), Amakna(lvl111), Bonta(lvl111), Moon(lvl176)... Secondly, everything is craftable in Wakfu! Ressources to make an item are all available somewhere and need to be farmed to make an item. Which makes the economy works all around combat and skills. Leves 20 zones for example will have level 20-35 mobs, plants, trees, herbs and rocks to make level 20-35 stuff! Every ressources will have someone looking for it, everything you farm is worth currency to someone. Third, dungeons in group rock! If you are at the level of a dungeon, there will always be someone to do it with! If you are at the level of the dungeon, the loot chances are at the maximum so that the dungeon are not farmed to death by higher players. Finally, exp dosen't take ages like in Runescape for example. Since the mono-account launch 2 weeks ago, I have all my skills up to level 115-125 with Woodcutting maxed at level 150. level 149 is 28 000 exp and one interaction with a ressource gives 261 exp. Takes about 30 minutes for the last level as opposed to runescape which takes hours to make 25% of a level...

I wish I could have even finished the main story. I was stuck at high 80 or low 90 and lost all my data a few months ago even though I logged before deletion process.
playing wakfu since the beta, my main character has so much story that i could make a whole biography 😂 also since discord existence playing the game with your guild friends is amazing
One problem the devs are currently trying to solve is the aoe and single cell attacks. They want flexibility and unique ways to play per player, but the aoe/single cell attacks put people into boxes where they all use the same meta. So they are planning to remove those stats and replace them. Besides that people also sometimes complain about distance and meelee, since gear tends to favor meelee much more by giving it more attack points with the excuse that distance is safer. But since enemies can basically snipe and walk to you in like 1-2 turns, so distance play is basically not worth it. My class is a single target distance eliotrope and I can tell you that I have seen aoe/melee elios do much more damage than me, while I constantly get myself killed even if I have the advantage of using portals to escape.
Yeah, one gripe I encounter frequently (and genuinely) is that the constant balancing attempts are generally received in a mixed fashion -- hopefully they can find a happy medium! 💖
I definitely prefer wakfu of dofus just for the character customisation and being able to see my gear( fashion game is best game) but dofus has forcelance which is super fun. Anyone know if wakfu will get the class also?
@@MarleMMO Forgelance* sorry force was a typo. But the class uses a lance to deal out damage as well as buff itself. Depending on the location of the lance depends on how you can attack, as it can be separate from your character.
Do yourself a favor. Get into everything DOFUS/WAKFU. Watch the shows, the movie, play this MMO. You will not regret it. The world and storytelling is amazing, the humor is on point. WAKFU needs more love and recognition.
I played dofus like 10+ years ago and I'm currently playing Waven. I'm still not sure if I would be hooked by Wakfu, or what are the main differences it has from original Dofus. One thing I heard is that Wakfu has almost zero PvP for example but I don't seem to find a summary of the main differences
Wakfu does have various forms of PvP yet I think the main difference between Dofus & Wakfu is the former is closer to a traditional MMO whereas Wakfu is nearer a sandbox. 🥰
Been playing since the first alpha versions, I remember the lags, the secret boss if all lamps were turned on in astrub, the repair job, old good times. Game is still a banger, but I have my preference for Dofus 1.29
@@MarleMMO Yup , the secret boss was a multicolor version of the birds that were roaming in Astrub. They were no dungeon for them back then. As for Dofus 1.29, I prefer that one because it is the version that I grew up with. I know barely all the content on it, and the design was simplist. When I compare it with Dofus 2.0, I feel drowned in the content, with all the new content, I'm not even sure if gathering the Dofus is still the main goal.
Totally -- similarly, my favorite version of EverQuest was the classic (i.e., pre-Luclin) version. So simple, yet vastly more dynamic than current retail. 💖
I am a big fan of the anime so ive allways wanted to play the game because of it. I just recently started with dofus so im looking forward to playing wakfu after beating that .

i've played wakfu and dofus before but i stopped because i got busy. i really preferred the osa gameplay fo wakfu than in dofus so i might go back and try again. i hope i remember my passwords..
Prenote: CRA is receiving the rework so some of this information MAY be outdated in a few months, but the POINT of what's being said is amazing. Your ability to puzzle solve fights and build differently makes or breaks you. Yeah this is the video I'd send my friends to to get them to play Wakfu. Excellent work. The edits are sublime in the video. The way you describe it is exactly all the points I tell them about too. There's simply no other MMO on the market that touches what Wakfu does and it's sincerely underrated. I think it's the turn based strategy that most people walk away from, but that's the freaking bees knees. To me the best part of Wakfu is its completness and adherence to the Krozmos (it's overarching storyline). There's not, to my knowledge, been ANY RETCONS or absolutely insane plot holes that just break the story *coughs in WoW*
I enjoyed my time together with my friend in wakfu I even went and sat there training new players but then it happens I didn't get good gear, game is not forgiving and I lost the sense of progression still when I do come back I just sit in my bag and enjoy graphics of the world
Oh, I think I understand what you're asking. Steam can sync erroneously to Ankama's account system that can be especially problematic if you wish to purchase anything from the item shop. 💖
Hey, have you checked the upcoming single-account server (Ogrest) and the new in-game guides in patch 1.81, which it's live around a month ago? Might want to hear your thoughts about it
In short, the way the accounts 'sync' make it very difficult to become a subscriber (whether it's Ankama's or Steam's fault is another matter). However, if you prefer to only use Steam, you can try and hope to avoid the issue! 💖
i played dofus in 2004 ... i played wakfu before being called wakfu ... i was one of some other hundreds of ppl playing the wakfu open beta testing in 2011 ... and what i hated more in wakfu updates was in fact the Hero ... i hated the fact that having multiple characters was a thing and that made me quit... same for dofus... ppl pay to have multiple accounts at the same time and also made me quit ... mono account servers solved that problem for me and i enjoyed a TON and after o long wait NOW i probably will test this new server mono-accountfor wakfu which is about to be release dayum
Haven't played in 6 years.. I wonder if my full fire ecaflip, and air sacrier still exists, cool they added slots for alts now, I even have masq made before I put the game down. I might pick it up again.

Been playing dofus since 2004 till 2016-17 then gave up came back a few times lasted max for 3 months. When Wakfu was announced we all thought its gona be end of Dofus and were all gona move to Wakfu, but that never happened due to wakfu design flaws. Im glad to see the game elvoved, im giving it a try cuz of this video and damn im surpirsed. It changed so much and its very different from dofus. So far the only issue i found is English speaking players are almost non existant :/ so it's really hard to get any info about anything lol. Ty for the video.
@@MarleMMO Yeah im on the look out for it :) curently stuck at choosing classes for trio, osa/enu/ougis look like a great combo cuz they all transform but it seems they would be weaker in the higher lvls :(

After repairing my installation and trying again, yes, I am also having issues logging into the game servers. I keep getting a 'token exception,' so it seems like their authentication servers are having problems. Sorry! 💖
One of the most charming and beautiful art and design I ever saw on any game, a big world full of adventures and fun, and somehow better than dufus and much better than waven or wevan, I tried the new game wevan but didn't like it, so I started a new character in wakfu after so many years
Its EASY one of the best MMORPG. NOT A SINGLE MMO, Community 10/10, Lore 10/10, Content 10/10, Music 10/10, Visuals 10/10, PVP/PVE 10/10, Progression 10/10, Combat 10/10, Classes/Build 10/10, Questing 10/10, Professions 10/10, Economy 10/10, Ankama 10/10. The game is amazing, easy piece one of the best. Bonus: Do you have an Anime and OVAs for extra immersion.
Good question -- the main reason is because the Steam client will load the Ankama launcher anyways, yet it is reportedly buggy, so you can avoid the headache by simply using the original launcher. 💖
I haven't had any problems via steam, but my ankama account was already created and I linked it with my steam account. Maybe the problem is when creating an account via steam ?
To my knowledge, Ankama's MMOs are the main turn-based MMOs; one you could consider investigating is Waven which is currently in alpha. Othewise, I'll keep my eyes out! 💖
Very cool video, very informative, however can you elaborate on why you advise against using steam? I ask because I favor steam due to my own struggles with managing account, and the payment alternitives it offers me, I did use to have the laucher and play it there, and I do not advise against it, it's great, I only find steam more pratical for me, what's the issue with it?

My recommendation would be to play Wakfu first; if you are interested in the story, then you can augment your knowledge online. You of course could also play Dofus to see which game you prefer. 💖

Always loved the game, but the company makes an awful job in the marketing side and I stopped playing for lack of people, I don't mind paying for the booster but it feels lonely for an MMO.
The international server seems to be quite active although yes, Ankama has (arguably) the best turn based MMO out -- it'd be great if they emphasized it more. 💖
I suppose it originally was Dofus the MMORPG that eventually inspired a movie, then Wakfu was its successor (that inspired the anime series). Finally, Waven completes the trifecta. 💖

In the newbie area, you are free to change your class at anytime. I heartily recommend you give several an attempt to see if you like its general feel. However, Wakfu really shines via group composition, so a tank could feel especially rewarding if you also had a very targeted DPS toon to play too (either an alt or a mercenary). 💖

I'm so glad! The Stream version sometimes has issues syncing to Ankama especially if you intend on buying a booster. However, some people report no issues. 🥰

Great question! They are very different games, yet both are free so you can try both to see which you prefer! I like Wakfu because it's more open-ended, yet Dofus can be simpler to play because its main progression path is more linear. 💖

You're good! It is because those who have played on Steam and then tried to purchase something from Ankama's shop have reported problems. This tends to not the be case if you use only their client. 💖

About the hex that kills three turns later, if you read the description of the state closely, you can understand that when you kill your ally that's been affected by the hex it gets revived automatically. It's not very clear but it's a nezat way to come back with full health (suicide works too).

Wakfu is going to put out a new server for mono accounts in some months, same way Dofus have, this server will limit the "alt" function (sidekicks will be allowed i think) and you can only open 1 client per account.
It will be a great option for players who want to play with only 1 character and to find people alike

Nah. At the start, sure, there will be people to play with and everyone will be around the same levels, but give it some months or a year at most and the same problem of the current servers will hit the mono-account server and it will be even worse because there won't be Heroes to save anyone and the players from the first days will already had advanced meaning that those who play casually will just be left behind. The level 150 bracket will be a nightmare

@@MarleMMO no, I don't think it is a matter of like or prefferences. Wakfu is meant to be played with a full team of 6 (3-player dungeons are ok-ish but they are limited and their exp has already been nerfed), if the current big international servers already have an issue where players are unable to find parties to run content, then how in the world would a mono-account server manage to survive after a year when the playerbase progresses at different rates.
It's possible it's a bad idea, so time will tell. 💖
I remember playing this game years ago and while it was fun, a lot of locations were literally ghost towns due to lack of player population, with Ankama's lack of desire to promote their own game, I can't imagine it got any better.

Are you going to include things like shift+v being a toggle for showing resistances during combat ? & being able to use equips,mounts,pets in multiple item loadouts/builds by using the small arrow thing ? the resistance visual toggle was added pretty recently with 1.77 so think even old players might have missed this being a feature in the game now and its way more convenient than right clicking every single mob. also do you have any plans to play on the mono/single account server whenever that comes out ?

This is an absolutely hilarious comment that details the confusion we all have felt.
Dofus, Wakfu, and Waven are all MMOs. Ankama, its developer and publisher, is an animation company. They illustrate animated series, movies, and comics. The MMOs are ways to "play" within the larger storyline. Unfortunately, the delivery of the timeline and the differences is confusing. 🥰
Played it years ago when Square Enix used to support it. Game kept changing constantly and it was hard trying to figure out builds and keeping up with the story, so I quit. I later tried to get back, but they wouldn't let me change my irl name on my ankama account which was my deadname without a ton of personal information, so I quit for good. Interesting that it's stayed alive this long though.

what i hate about wakfu is how unforgiving it is to those who dont buy the booster pack....i play with only one character and i can feel the game nerf me as i progress...despite wearing good armour...like they're forcing me to buy the booster

One thing that is worth mentioning is that buying the ingame currency kamas with ogrines (ogrines are the currency you purchase with real money) is not damaging to the game's economy since for every tradeoff, a real player has to be offering that amount of kamas for an specific amount of ogrines. So ankama does not inject money directly in the economy, which also makes it fair to f2p players because they also can buy ogrines with in game currency

I played Wakfu way-way back when it was in closed beta. Hell not even all the cities where made when I played. I think it was the beach/water one that came last I forget the name of it something like sofukua or something like that. A big time pvper Hooks was playing a sadida back then but after open beta came out he swapped over to something else I forget. Use to have fun trying to take him down but he just out leveled me so much.

It's been a while since I've played, but Dofus/Wakfu is something that's always on my mind ever since I played Dofus back in like, 2008.
Dofus unfortunately changed a little too much for me to enjoy the new mechanics, but I couldn't seem to access Dofus Classic either, so I practically felt like I had to abandon it when too much was unfamiliar to me.
Wakfu has changed quite a few times, though never drastically so that I'd be put off from trying to relearn it again.
Unfortunately, my last efforts into trying to get my friends to play Wakfu was plagued by issues with creating an account itself.
Something which seems to have changed was the difficulty of creating an account, and I can't remember if it was on Steam or the main websit, but it seemed that my friends couldn't even get passed the hurdle of actually getting to PLAY the game.
I really hope they're working to stabilise the game and the new player experience, because it's an absolute shame I can't introduce people to one of my favourite franchises of all time.

It's my second favourite MMO after Eve online. My criticisms are as follows:
1) All fights are instanced with a max of 6 players, which for a turn based game with complex mechanics makes sense, but large group action is therefore not possible for one fight.
2) Some mechanics are really not obvious, take hitting from the rear, is it only when you are directly behind them or behind the invisible line coming out from the creatures sides? Are there invisible arcs that mark rear, side and front? What if you are an eliotrope (class that makes portals and can shoot through them), if you have a portal behind someone but are stood in front does the damage count as behind or in front. A lot of this needs to be tested in game because of a general lack of good documentation and even then I still dont really know the answers to those questions.

Wakfu is the greatest MMO RPG i've played, the gameplay is perfect, the mechanics unique and fucking awesome, its just incredibly crazy how something like this can exist, sadly... the company behind it don't love their own game

@@MarleMMO they always did an awful work at fixing bugs, for a very long time they only cared about the french community, they ignored the English/Spanish community, also the booster/premium is something *you must* buy to level up, this is notable from level 136-141 and beyond, unless you pay for the booster you have to expend more than triple the time to level up, also the drop system is affected by this booster/premium feature, some items are locked behind a paywall, they show you what items you could have get if you had the booster/premium which is a predatory tactic which i really dislike, because imagine you spent an hour in a high level dungeon and the final drop, the thing you have been working so hard for, there in the drops the most expensive item or the item that you *needed* is behind a paywall. that is something i find disgusting, you will often find yourself feeling lonely in this game because the amount of players, that's why people use 2-3 accounts at the same time to do dungeons (i used 2 when i played this game) there are so many aspects in this game which i find straight painful because they just make the player experience worse

I haven’t played Wakfu seriously in over a decade, and even then all I did was farming. My Puddly gear has been wildly leveled up since I got it, so now I can never take it off.

Been playing since Alpha in 2014 and the game has changed a lot ever since, for the best every time!
First of all, this MMO is singleplayer friendly through Rifts now: Rifts are roguelike 40 wave survival where you will gain a lot of loot and exp for each Rift for your level.
Modulus: every 15 levels, you can bring your level down by 15 and enjoy a fully Multi-Element Build.
For example: I am lvl 150 and my previous modulus was at lvl 140. I can Modulus to lvl 140 or stay lvl 150 (but buy my items) until next modulus at lvl 155.
Take note that rifts require 15 levels to modulate inside.
Modulus lvl: 15,30,45,60,75,90,105...
Rift: Tainela(lvl21), Sufokia(lvl66), Amakna(lvl111), Bonta(lvl111), Moon(lvl176)...
Secondly, everything is craftable in Wakfu!
Ressources to make an item are all available somewhere and need to be farmed to make an item. Which makes the economy works all around combat and skills.
Leves 20 zones for example will have level 20-35 mobs, plants, trees, herbs and rocks to make level 20-35 stuff!
Every ressources will have someone looking for it, everything you farm is worth currency to someone.
Third, dungeons in group rock! If you are at the level of a dungeon, there will always be someone to do it with!
If you are at the level of the dungeon, the loot chances are at the maximum so that the dungeon are not farmed to death by higher players.
Finally, exp dosen't take ages like in Runescape for example.
Since the mono-account launch 2 weeks ago, I have all my skills up to level 115-125 with Woodcutting maxed at level 150.
level 149 is 28 000 exp and one interaction with a ressource gives 261 exp.
Takes about 30 minutes for the last level as opposed to runescape which takes hours to make 25% of a level...

One problem the devs are currently trying to solve is the aoe and single cell attacks. They want flexibility and unique ways to play per player, but the aoe/single cell attacks put people into boxes where they all use the same meta. So they are planning to remove those stats and replace them. Besides that people also sometimes complain about distance and meelee, since gear tends to favor meelee much more by giving it more attack points with the excuse that distance is safer. But since enemies can basically snipe and walk to you in like 1-2 turns, so distance play is basically not worth it.
My class is a single target distance eliotrope and I can tell you that I have seen aoe/melee elios do much more damage than me, while I constantly get myself killed even if I have the advantage of using portals to escape.
Yeah, one gripe I encounter frequently (and genuinely) is that the constant balancing attempts are generally received in a mixed fashion -- hopefully they can find a happy medium! 💖
I definitely prefer wakfu of dofus just for the character customisation and being able to see my gear( fashion game is best game) but dofus has forcelance which is super fun. Anyone know if wakfu will get the class also?

@@MarleMMO Forgelance* sorry force was a typo. But the class uses a lance to deal out damage as well as buff itself. Depending on the location of the lance depends on how you can attack, as it can be separate from your character.

I played dofus like 10+ years ago and I'm currently playing Waven.
I'm still not sure if I would be hooked by Wakfu, or what are the main differences it has from original Dofus. One thing I heard is that Wakfu has almost zero PvP for example but I don't seem to find a summary of the main differences
Wakfu does have various forms of PvP yet I think the main difference between Dofus & Wakfu is the former is closer to a traditional MMO whereas Wakfu is nearer a sandbox. 🥰
Been playing since the first alpha versions, I remember the lags, the secret boss if all lamps were turned on in astrub, the repair job, old good times. Game is still a banger, but I have my preference for Dofus 1.29

@@MarleMMO Yup , the secret boss was a multicolor version of the birds that were roaming in Astrub. They were no dungeon for them back then.
As for Dofus 1.29, I prefer that one because it is the version that I grew up with. I know barely all the content on it, and the design was simplist. When I compare it with Dofus 2.0, I feel drowned in the content, with all the new content, I'm not even sure if gathering the Dofus is still the main goal.
Totally -- similarly, my favorite version of EverQuest was the classic (i.e., pre-Luclin) version. So simple, yet vastly more dynamic than current retail. 💖

Yeah this is the video I'd send my friends to to get them to play Wakfu. Excellent work. The edits are sublime in the video. The way you describe it is exactly all the points I tell them about too. There's simply no other MMO on the market that touches what Wakfu does and it's sincerely underrated. I think it's the turn based strategy that most people walk away from, but that's the freaking bees knees.
To me the best part of Wakfu is its completness and adherence to the Krozmos (it's overarching storyline). There's not, to my knowledge, been ANY RETCONS or absolutely insane plot holes that just break the story *coughs in WoW*

Why is it better to download Wakfu from their website vs using Steam?
In short, the way the accounts 'sync' make it very difficult to become a subscriber (whether it's Ankama's or Steam's fault is another matter). However, if you prefer to only use Steam, you can try and hope to avoid the issue! 💖
i played dofus in 2004 ... i played wakfu before being called wakfu ... i was one of some other hundreds of ppl playing the wakfu open beta testing in 2011 ... and what i hated more in wakfu updates was in fact the Hero ... i hated the fact that having multiple characters was a thing and that made me quit... same for dofus... ppl pay to have multiple accounts at the same time and also made me quit ... mono account servers solved that problem for me and i enjoyed a TON and after o long wait NOW i probably will test this new server mono-accountfor wakfu which is about to be release dayum

Been playing dofus since 2004 till 2016-17 then gave up came back a few times lasted max for 3 months. When Wakfu was announced we all thought its gona be end of Dofus and were all gona move to Wakfu, but that never happened due to wakfu design flaws. Im glad to see the game elvoved, im giving it a try cuz of this video and damn im surpirsed. It changed so much and its very different from dofus. So far the only issue i found is English speaking players are almost non existant :/ so it's really hard to get any info about anything lol. Ty for the video.

I find that a Cra is best when in a support role with burst DPS options. They're squishy, yet can help melt bosses or nasty tank foes! 💖
uhh... question what the difference between not downloading the game through steam and just using the launcher or vise versa?
Good question -- the main reason is because the Steam client will load the Ankama launcher anyways, yet it is reportedly buggy, so you can avoid the headache by simply using the original launcher. 💖
i'll add in to the bugs, which is that steam client wont let users spend their steam wallet, and mostly about its clunky linking to ankama account

I haven't had any problems via steam, but my ankama account was already created and I linked it with my steam account. Maybe the problem is when creating an account via steam ?
Maybe -- I experienced no issues like you, although I have read the troubles of others, hence the recommended prohibition. ❤️

To my knowledge, Ankama's MMOs are the main turn-based MMOs; one you could consider investigating is Waven which is currently in alpha. Othewise, I'll keep my eyes out! 💖

Very cool video, very informative, however can you elaborate on why you advise against using steam?
I ask because I favor steam due to my own struggles with managing account, and the payment alternitives it offers me, I did use to have the laucher and play it there, and I do not advise against it, it's great, I only find steam more pratical for me, what's the issue with it?

Im just confused if i should play dofus or wakfu. I tried both a long time ago when I was younger but didnt get very far. Any recommendations i think the world is super interest.
Great question. Dofus is a more conventional MMORPG whereas Wakfu is more sandboxy. Dofus is older yet I think has a larger population. 🥰
So is better play dofus first or the order is not that important? I would like to try though i never played a MMO in my life
My recommendation would be to play Wakfu first; if you are interested in the story, then you can augment your knowledge online. You of course could also play Dofus to see which game you prefer. 💖

Always loved the game, but the company makes an awful job in the marketing side and I stopped playing for lack of people, I don't mind paying for the booster but it feels lonely for an MMO.
The international server seems to be quite active although yes, Ankama has (arguably) the best turn based MMO out -- it'd be great if they emphasized it more. 💖
was Wakfu originally a movie or game?
I suppose it originally was Dofus the MMORPG that eventually inspired a movie, then Wakfu was its successor (that inspired the anime series). Finally, Waven completes the trifecta. 💖

In the newbie area, you are free to change your class at anytime. I heartily recommend you give several an attempt to see if you like its general feel. However, Wakfu really shines via group composition, so a tank could feel especially rewarding if you also had a very targeted DPS toon to play too (either an alt or a mercenary). 💖

I'm so glad! The Stream version sometimes has issues syncing to Ankama especially if you intend on buying a booster. However, some people report no issues. 🥰

Great question! They are very different games, yet both are free so you can try both to see which you prefer! I like Wakfu because it's more open-ended, yet Dofus can be simpler to play because its main progression path is more linear. 💖

Ankama's old integration with Steam was problematic yet they recently improved it. While I haven't tried it yet, it apparently improved the issue. 🥰
I played wakfu around 2013? man i wanted to give it a good try but i was soooooo lost to everything. Also after all this years i know turned based is not my cup of tea

You're good! It is because those who have played on Steam and then tried to purchase something from Ankama's shop have reported problems. This tends to not the be case if you use only their client. 💖

Hm, I wouldn't consider Wakfu a game that blocks content. TMK, other than mercenaries, the entire corpus of content is available for free. 💖
