Dude is a consummate rock guitarist. Not a metal guy, not a pop guy, not any other genre, a straight ahead rock guitarist, and one of the best out there.

Phil X has to be one of the most coolest and down to earth people around. The Duellist has struck me as a great pedal to have. 🤔
The Duellist is my favorite pedal! Definitely get one if you can. The left side, which is a Bluesbreaker style circuit, makes an incredible boost for high gain amps. Most people use a Tubescreamer to boost high gain sounds, but to me that makes the amp sound thin and nasal. The Bluesbreaker makes it sound thick and fat while giving it a lot more saturation.
I bought the Duellist 2 or 3 years ago, I could throw all the others in the bin after that purchase, its got it all so do go for it if you can wait a bit.
I’ve owned one since Davey first released them and sold most of my other OD’s. It’s been a mainstay on my pedalboard. Try one out! It’s a rockin pedal

I just love both of these guys. They are serious musicians but they dont take themselves TOO seriously. Funny, down to earth, and relatable to people who are not in the spotlight. Just seem to be great guys!
Love Phil had the pleasure of being in his circle early through Pat and Rob.. religiously attended his Jam nights at his dads and his other events, an amazing dude, such a great person, moved to England and lost touch. Always wish him the best. Anyone that meets him understand

We literally did Phil’s Two notes cab pack just a day before this and soooo wanted to ‘leak’ it for Gearfest - but we didn’t… Phil is exactly the same guy off the camera. He’s amazing - he’s Phil X!

Phil always throws down. And he sings his ass off too.
Phil's comment about boosting levels for a pick slide... that is exactly why my boost of choice is a TC Spark Mini. You can click the footswitch like normal and play an entire solo... or... if you need a quick fill, HOLD the button down, play the lick, and when you release the button, the boost switches back off. Dual function button! I also replaced the little knob up top with a massive black knob that I can dial up and down with my foot.
Yeah the spark mini is my solo boost pedal too. I have mine in the loop so it just increases the volume when I need without adding any more compression or gain to the front end.

I just start hearing about phil about a year ago he seams so easy to talk to ! Would be a great teacher if he had time and anyone who gets a chance to learn from him should pay attention

I own a Radial Headlight amp switcher. Their products just work, and they’re built really solidly. The Duellist is my favorite pedal. It’s never leaving my board.

I run a Strymon Deco in the clean loop of my 100 watt amp Boss EQ in the drive channel loop when using that amp Modest board for me Sunface - Xotic Clean Boost - Analogman TS - Lovepedal EPH3 To be added maybe a wah and H9
