To me, one of the best and most underrated guitar players ever. So humble, so down to earth, simple and owns a huge Tone! Unmatchable! I can't get tired listeningto his tone and music!
I've only just discovered him, so whilst I cringe when I see the underrated comment, in this case I'd definitely say not well known enough!@@DizzyKrissi
Thank you Robert Keeley and Andy. I just got my Halo recently. Everything as shown and heard here. How many years have I wished it could be this simple to get that sound. Easy-peasy, small footprint, 3D. It did not make me an Andy-level player, but next best thing - the tones inspire. Well done!
Andy is one of the few guys where I think the "you should never meet your heroes" phrase *doesn't* comes into play. I think he might be one of the nicest guys in music I've seen based on the numerous interviews I've seen him in.
I never get to the end of anything he does, always end up picking up my guitar😀. Great inspirational guitarist. Just listening to him is like practicing, makes you a better player😄.
I see he’s using two amps, and i can see how his delay is going to the two amps. But I don’t understand how his drive pedals work. Does only one of his amps take the drive pedal and the other stays clean?
Let's be honest - Andy is one of those huys who will always sound like Andy. Even through a Zoom 505 and a Line 6 Spyder v1.0. XD This is such a great idea for a series. What are the pro's choices for very small rigs that will give them the essential tones they need.
Shouldn’t he be contractually-obligated to swap that BD-2 for a Keeley Super Phat Mod? I ordered the Halo after ten seconds of him playing in he JHS video. Haven’t been this excited for a pedal in a long time.
@@RobertKeeleyTV Then so am i.... Can i pay you in advance? I'll keep my SPM until you ship, though.... Oh, wow-i guess it took a techie to see that as Pi! I never thought about it like that.... This "314" represents a room number. : )
I listen to Andy play guitar, such a brilliant player, awesome tone, sounds like a great guy too. Keep innovating inspiring,, Great as always Sweetwater 👍
This featured great playing, conversation, and tones, of course, but I was hoping to learn how Andy was using the expression pedal with the Halo, and you guys didn't ever discuss it! Even the power and junction box get described, but nothing about which functions he uses the expression pedal to vary or examples of him using it. Anyone have any info on that?
His tone, phrasing, everything is so inspiring as a player, the 6L6 Lonestar has been my go to amp ever since I heard Andy for the first time about 10yrs ago.
Mr . Timmons ,allways a pleasure to see & hear ! Mr.Carr , allways great interviews , excellent comunication with the guest , " Kudos " ! 👍✌ Pease Sweawater ,dont stop this segment , so informitive and entertaining ! Peace ! ✌
Glorious tone as always! Surprising to see Andy dose not have his Carl Martin Compressor on this mini board, that is such a huge part of his clean tone and boost going into his Boogies. Excited for the Halo, I ordered one a few days ago, it will sit next to my Timeline which will now be used for other delays.
Excellent video Don and really great performance by Andy Timmons and so much awesome inspiring tones!!!🔥🎸 I have two questions: What brand and gauge of electric guitar strings Andy uses and also what kind of guitar picks material and gauge he uses? Thanks!
I would love to ask Andy why he doesn’t have a heavy rhythm guitar tone. What does he use when he plays rhythm because that lead time will be way too muddy
The Halo and the AT@ pedals are great, to be sure. But I cannot use the Halo for most of what I play which is classic rock and blues. It's just too ethereal for that. I'll stick with my Carbon Copy for my always-on delay. But I'd buy the AT@ pedal if I did not already have two pedals which rival that much grit, boost and sustain. My rock and blues tone these days come from a Blues Driver (Waza Craft version) going into a Wampler Tumnus, into a Boss chorus pedal, and the Carbon Copy last. The last three are always ON, and it really works well with my Princeton amp. The Blues Driver is so good, it's hard not to notice it exists on pedalboards of guys like Andy Timmons and Paul Gabriel, even as they push other overdrives new to the marketplace.
My pedalboare: Dunlop crybaby Wah, mxr dyna comp, Ibanez tube screamer, jhs andy Timmons +, tone city Golden plexi, tone city angel wings chorus, boss digital reverb, loop pedal
Just 4 Sweetwater posting videos like this of our favorite artist next piece of gear I'll buy Sweetwater. My brother GROWN MAN 434(producer) buys from them and I'm IMPRESSED with quality and tech support !!!
Can some shed light on some of the subtle intonation things that make a 'Timmons' sound? I'm pretty sure I'm hearing Andy 'pre-bend' many notes just as he attacks them, for instance. There's also a lot of slide, tons of accurate intonation on bends, vibrato aplenty, there's his signature tone choices - which I'd characterise as 'tasty' and 'warm'.
Sweetwater's KILLING IT with these Awesome Insider vids! Don Car interviews Andy Timmons? Whut?! I'm simply Blown Away! I'm soaking in all the knowledge, wisdom, & mojo that oozes from 2 wise guitar sages! (I'll shut up now & just watch) Thanx!
dunlop gypsy fuzz? might as well get the mxr variac fuzz its literally the same circuit with an added tone control and a voltage knob to change the pedal voltage from 5 volts to 15 volts for more headroom and fuzz clarity or make it thick and/ squishy etc
sounds amazing as always. maybe it was answered in vid, but i didn't catch it. what is providing the reverb? that's not the Lone Star spring verb is it?
I know Andy is probably extremely busy with everything so maybe someone at Sweetwater can answer this for me? I have literally purchased everything on Andy Timmons pedalboard including two Mesa lone star 2x12’s combo 100 watt Amps to run in stereo along with the new halo pedal that I purchased from sweetwater which I just got yesterday thank you guys for the great service, I love the pedal! However, I can’t for the life of me get any close to Andy’s sound with getting that rich focused bottom end fat strat sauce. I’m using a Charvel dk24 loaded with AT 1 pickups in the bridge and 2 cruiser neck pickups. The only thing I can think of is both my lonestars are loaded with 6l6 tubes would switching them to el34’s like Andy make that drastic of a difference? Please someone help as the rabbit hole is getting deeper!
Hi, ijustwanttorock. Switching out the tubes in the amp will definitely change the sound and the feel. The style of the amp will be the same (clean, high head room), but the core EQ curve will be different. The amp makes a huge difference for the overall tone so if you're trying to nail the Andy Timmons sound, having the proper tubes would be a big step. Sounds as terrific on this video as it did in the room! Don, what a treat it was hanging with you and getting to film this.
Robert Keeley, always good to hang and work with you! Congrats on the pedal, it sounds soooo good! You, Andy, and the team crushed it!
Thanks,

What an incredible pedal, sounds beautiful, Andy plays so sweetly keep innovating , inspiring , 👌

Such a class act, always a joy to hear him play, great interview!
There is no such thing as "the best tone" but Andy has it.
These guys go to the same hairdresser for sure.
A man, playing his signature guitar through not one but TWO of his signature pedals. Legend.
I don't know why but Andys Voice sounds a bit like Mark Hamills to me

yep! the Waza version is even more special. love the pedal!
Andy has the clean tone to die for. And that is because it is overdriven.
One of the greatest artists, tone-smiths, and all around awesome guys in the business. Andy is such a class act.
Which expression pedal?
He never talks about distorted rhythm tone??? Lead tone it to compressed for rhythm chunk. What does he use if he's playing rhythm under vocals?
His dynamics are just next level. Love his playing.
4:13 Did he mention he lives in Mckinney, TX? thats where i live
I think Andy gave all his old shirts to Don

Andy is a special dude. And i’m not just talking his talent. So down to earth so kind and cool.
100 fancier options and he’s using a BD2. After going through 50 OD’s? The last decade and a half- I settled on a BD2W.
Love both of these guys! So sympathetic and down to earth!

As an ambient guitar player I really love this guy’s tone and want that album based on the Halo pedal asap!
Interesting but "Blah, blah, blah, Band of Gypsies, blah blah blah"???
Andy Timmons has got to be one of my favorite artists. Thank you for this!
A new refret to the old trusty AT !! , sounding great as usual Andy.

Andy is one of the best Rock guitarists alive today, in my humble opinion and i'm sure he's also a good pal
So you didn't let us hear how Andy uses FF? After all, it was a just Keeley delay commercial.

😂 Salutes with a fist yet they are so close that they could spit each other.
Back when we filmed this, it was mid way thru covid, so we only wore half masks, and other semi half measures.
Sounds amazing as usual with Andy..
