Here's what I like about the good Mr. Phil X - he is always pure of heart. That can never be imitated and we are all grateful to see it every time with all the same brilliance. It stands a testament to your character, thank you.
Had to sell 2 of my baby over c19 and yes I cried. Novice but love music so much. Thankyou for posting this, still learning, always will be - yay! RUclips generated suggestion to your video and i found it fab to see a run through from a professional. Love the guitars! Keep rockin' and stay safe, happy and hopeful. Peace.
I think it was that Trace Foster fella who has the most on to it way of winding strings on. One loop over the string going thru the hole and the rest under. It locks the strings without having to do that knot thing or have locking tuners. It keeps them nicely in tune if the nut etc is in good shape.
Now I know why I cant find my new fav picks!!! You got them all. Found the star picks, little easier to find then the hex picks.. work the same!!! PHILLXXX
Phil, i love what you are doing! I watched you with Rick Beato and was instantly riveted by what you were saying. Things like turn the guitar volume knob down till u need it. Turn the amp up. Fingers are in control!! all great stuff that i hadnt heard put that way.. What im getting to is could you maybe make some more videos of your wisdom and tricks? As a RUclips taught beginner i like to absorb as much as possible from as many angles as possible. im just now starting to understand Rick =) only took a year and a half. thanks much
Would be amazed if you ever sounded bad with your ability, through anything! Hope you are enjoying life Phil as much as i enjoy your content! Keep her lit!
You're the best, taking time to run through the rig for us! Since you are in Nashville, are you able to start preliminary design on a signature Gibson XSG?
As soon as I heard ‘Trace’ mentioned, I immediately went, “I wonder if that’s Trace Foster?” Is that a sign that I watch WAY too many guitar rig videos?
Nathan Liberty Ian Sheppard was Josh Klinghoffers. Duncan Swift does Pixies/Radiohead. Mike Hickey is Bonamassas. Rene Martinez (did SRV, I think - then later John Mayer). Doug Redler. (I’ve got his book - which is great).
Hi Phil!!!! Did I miss that part, or you skipped one guitar on the rig run? Are you allowed to show any guitar brand except Fenders? Maybe I'm wrong and it was not a Fender, although at a glance it looks like a Tele for me.
Γειά σου. I've been playing guitar for 10 years now and I've always wanted to learn bouzouki as well. Is it an easy instrument to pickup being so similar to guitar? Συγχαρητήρια with ur success, been watching you since the beginning of the fretted americana videos.
So gracious to show us the rig Phil thank you. Curious, have you tried a Low end rolloff tone knob instead of high-cut, to tame low end or do you not like that. Thanks -Stavros
hmmmm.... i didn't know that was an option (40 something years in.... hahahaha). actually when i play with the drills i just use 1 pickup guitars & count on the high-cut tone knob to get the American Woman tone.
Phil I love your videos man...and your guitars....I have a 97 R8 in black as well serial number 8 7103...I know they are kinda rare....how far apart is yours from mine....you f---ing rock!!!!! Keep the videos coming and stay safe and healthy...
wow...so not a single Framus. in the 2017 PG rundown he was like "i can't talk about them" with the Gibson explorer. Sorry I live in the sticks but what happened?
Phil what's the weight on the LES Paul's u are using? I have a 79 Les Paul standard which I love it's my go to guitar n it has some weight to it. About 9 pounds or so. I had to get a thicker strap for the reason being after hrs of playing it takes a toll on the shoulder haha. What songs do u use ur Korina guitar for? Love the maple neck. I also have a Fender strat my guitar tech put together for me it has only one pickup which is the EVH FRANKENSTEIN HUMBUCKER with a Super-Vee Blade Runner bridge n tremolo system stays in tune well, also with a volume n tone control push pull knob all in one. Anyway have a great Rehearsal Jam. THE ATOMIC PHIL X ROCKS ON !👊👍🎸😎
@@philx1111 If u check out that bridge n tremolo system I mentioned you would need to get a roller nut n roller string trees along with locking tuners . It works best with these items n string changing alot quicker n easier. No more string locks on the nut like a floyd rose has n no more cutting the ball off the string. Just insert the string through the back plate pull it up to the tuning peg n lock it in. Plus u could tune the guitar from the tuning pegs. Just thought I should inform u about it. Almost forgot u can get those items all from Fender .
Just a small time sound guy / warm up set ... ( enough 4 levelz) & sometimes t/ bad spoof of t/ gig ... Born around it so ,,, you know ... I dig all t/ stuff ,,, ya go over ... Thanks ... D ...
I'm thinking that there is a way to make a much less bulky talk-box arrangement. Those bluetooth ear-buds are such good quality that you'd only need one of those getting the signal from a little Bluetooth board in your switcher, and could have it in a much shorter, thinner tube. Er... I think I need more caffeine.
first of all, the thickness of the tube is very important. it's taking the place of a speaker & then your mouth shapes the sound at the end. 2ndly, my tech just put it in a metal braided sleeve to make it look industrial & yeah, bulky. ... but we were going for that.
*Hey PhilX, What happened to Dirty Sanchez? He was in a Framus guitar wasn't he? Anyway, Good to see you and your current rig line up. Cheers Brother.*
My apologies if you have addressed this in the past. Also, I don’t mean this as a question to try to “start” anything. I am truly interested in knowing. Are you playing your Framus guitars anymore? And also, will they continue to make your XG model guitars?
hey man, i parted with framus at the end of 2019 & joined forces with gibson. first off, i've always loved gibson guitars but wasn't a fan of their quality control, or lack there of, until recently with the new top dogs taking over. i took a tour of both factories in nashville last summer & was blown away by the attention to detail & renovations that created better work spaces for a better product. between that & having an affordable (yes... affordable. no other company i've been with could accomplish this) Phil X Epiphone down the road, it's hard not to be excited about this new relationship. as far as Framus goes, i've been told the XG will still exist but their changing the name to not have an X which is totally understandable.
philx1111 Thanks for answering my question and for your honesty. I’ve noticed for the last several months you’ve been slinging Gibson’s but just never asked the question until now. I’m so happy Gibson is turning it around. I was not very happy with them and their lack of QC as have many other guitarists. They’re an American icon and needed to tighten up their product. The fact that you came on board tells me they are truly interested in rebuilding their brand and reconnecting with musicians again. Thanks man!
If Phil X was a plumber he’d still be the coolest guy in the world
well he did drive the school bus in the Simpsons for a while ;)
“That’s why I didn’t bring many guitars” .. after showing us about 15
davemis40 That’s considered a low number compared to a lot of other guitarists
For a seven song set :D
For bonjovi that is pretty restrained... i would have soooo many more :)
Stevie Wonder doing some spectacular camerawork...
The GOAT Mr Phil X he can literally play anything with so much attitude it’s insane✌🏼
It would be so difficult to argue that
The only other person that inspires me like that is Eddie himself And maybe jimmy page
Did you call him a goat cause he's Greek? That's racist bro

instablaster...
One of the coolest guys out there... MONSTER player as well. Cheers, Phil!
Rely on these (shows hands) not pedals.
Best piece of guitar advice I've ever gotten. Thanks Phil, and killer rig!
That’s why he has 10 pedals on the pedalboard??
@@vintagepipesnightmares Haha

The best

Suddenly, a Framus isn't the guitar of his dreams... Money talks.
“This thing sounds fuckin’ so good!” Phil X.
I need a Wolverine! Is there a custom shop version?

Good to be Playing 😁
Those p90's on that gold top set tall.
Gonna try that.

i think the ideal weight for a les paul is between 8 & 9 lbs. i think mine swim in that vicinity around 8.5. i gotta check out that bridge.

Be nice if Musicman had a bigger neck option for the rest of us mere mortals... Only thing stopping me acquiring one is the skinny necks.
Hey Phil I got a talk box request.... using the black Les Paul jam out she's a woman. The Jeff Beck version.
