I learned how to make these back in 2009, made about five of them, then I forgot how over the years...so I'm VERY glad you posted this. My pillowcases from 2009-2010, are still in Excellent condition, no loose seams at all, no fraying. They're fun to make.
Suggest you cut the size--27" for standard, 30" for Queen and 33 " for king before sewing the cuff and trim. Also press the seams from the top, with the seam allowance to one side, then press together exposing the seam. much easier and neater than trying to get it open this way. Don't yo have a rotary cutter?
It’s the best magic pillowcase video I’ve seen. Very much to the point. Other videos do too much talking, mixing in irrelevant information. The music was much better. For my personal need I would have liked a little more time on the order of the layers, and right or wrong side up. Nevertheless, a well done production. Thank you.
Thank you this is a great refresher on how to make this pillow case. I am, however, going to do it the lazy way and use my serger and not sew French seams.
Just a suggestion: For demonstration, you should use a fabric for the band that has a difference between right and wrong side. someone new won't know which side is face up.
Width-wise it's going to be wasted one way or the other since she started with the full width of the fabric from selvage to selvage. You're either cutting a strip off before you start or halfway through the project. I assume the extra initial length was just to start with super easy measurements (one yard of your main color). I only ended up cutting off about 1.5" in length and it's much easier to get the fabric store to cut me 1 yard of fabric than 34.5 inches.

Too much wasted fabric/too much cutting .. just cut the fabric to size to begin .. it's a pillowcase, it doesn't have to fit like tights on a ballerina .. but I will be making some of these soon for a kid's lounger/nap mattress ..
You really can use the scraps for smaller patchworks or filling( gather the smallest scraps or even threads by colour.) choose to go by colour means you have nice overview of them like having one box for each colour and in them boxes have two or three bags for bigger and smaller scraps and/or tiny filling scraps. Have one box for scraps that are hard to put in one colour.
There's really no point of doing the burrito method if you're going to cut the fabric down to size afterwards anyways, but the french seams are a great touch
It looks like the cuff fabric is folded in half lengthwise when she is layering the fabrics. All other tutorials I have watched layer the cuff fabric opened out (unfolded). This video was too fast, music too loud. Seems like it was done for entertainment and not for education.
You can pause it. I much prefer short and snappy than to some RUclipsrs who take forever to inarticulately, um, um, um, describe what they are trying to do
Oh lord, the loud music is horrible! I just subscribed to you and now I’m unsubscribing! I cannot learn from loud music and super fast videos with no taking! Good grief!
No unnecessary talking in this video! So truly grateful!!! Excellent video.
Glad you enjoyed it!

That's a great tutorial. Fast, to the point, and clear on all the steps. Will definitely be trying one of these. Thanks.
Don't cut the bottom and side off, just square up and sew as is. No need to waste that tiny bit of fabric and the pillowcase is a bit larger.
Thanks for posting this!! I'm making a special pillowcase for my grandfather and these instructions will make this a fast project.
Great tutorial but I i just wish the steps were on the screen for a bit longer. It goes away way too fast!
Tha k you, this was exactly what I needed and very succinct!!!

Thank you for this fast refreshing clip! Just needed to know the order of fabric real quick! Making 2 pillow cases for Halloween 👻
Good Morning. I really enjoyed watching this video. Thank you.❤️🧵😀🍁
Your tutorial is the best I've seen. Provides all measurements, and thatakes all the difference in the world. Thank you!!!
Fun and quick pressing is important nice job.

Best video on burrito pillow case I’ve seen cheers and thank you

Several comments about bad music: Mute! If there is no narration, there is no need for sound.
Best video easy and quick thank you

That is what I am looking for now on the 12 inch piece.
So what was the point of wasting that fabric by making it larger than it needs to be??

Great video!
How big would you cut the main body piece for a Queen size pillowcase, about 30" or 31"? Thank you.
I'd like to know the name of that fabric used for the body of the pillow - I love it!

I have made this type of pillow case. I never have cut the sides.
This video is important to me because if I didn't see this video I'll never make a pillowcase to pass my assignment....thank you so much

I agree with you, it's ridiculous wasting that much fabric when it could have just been cut to size to begin with!
The strips that I cut off ended up being perfect for the accent stripes of the next pillow case!
Had to slow it WAY down and I’ve made these before. What was the point of making so fast?
Layering the fabric was too fast... For a beginner like me. Rest was good
Encased seam seems like extra work. I'd rather overlock the edges with a serger or zigzag stitch

Oh it’s a sewing tutorial. I thought it was a dance party.
Why cut after sewing, measure first and don’t waste any fabric.

I'm not very good at sewing to the beat of the music.
Too fast instructions!!!
Helpful but you are using a solid fabric so it has no right or wrong side. It would be helpful if that information was provided.
You go way too fast
Top!👍🧵
Hi
Too fast
👍❤️😊
So much waste, of fabric and time. Why do a burrito if you are cutting it down to size? Measure twice cut once, and move onto the next project.
Way too fast
You could change the speed if that helps.
You can pause it. I much prefer short and snappy than to some RUclipsrs who take forever to inarticulately, um, um, um, describe what they are trying to do
I thought so too and changed the setting playback to .5 and it was great
@@SunflowerAV you are awesome, I can follow it and now it sounds like slow stripper music. Ahaha
@@Faithfully103 that's so funny. I tend to mute it when I make is super slow. Glad you got it! Thank you!!!

Disclaimer:
it does not take fifteen minutes 😂 maybe if you’re a pro tho 🫶🫶 but SO worth the time to make
