Nice diag! Had quite a few of these to the point I know the crank wire color in that loom up by the valve cover. Quick tip, there is a timing relearn function that needs performed after any timing work, crank pulley work, ckp rr, and engine replacement. If not performed it will show timing codes like you had even though it is physically set correctly.... I almost thought that's where this one was going 😂😂. Thanks for sharing

Yeah I tried doing the relearn and nope lol

    • @DTEAuto
      @DTEAuto 4 месяца назад

@@autodiagyt Nice! Well there you go, if it doesn't go away with the relearn then you can confirm there's a physical misalignment

I am having the same issue with both codes but I rebuilt the complete engine due to the service bulletin. After resetting the timing twice, still both codes are popping up. I figured the system had to relearn itself but did not know about the "timing relearn function." If you don't mind me asking where did you find the relearn at? Or did you take to the dealer to reset? That was my final step.

Excellent thought process in this diagnostic, Jake! Weird thing with the graphed data on the scantool - you're probably right, and it's reporting substituted values. What's impressive is the engine running smooth with all that carnage inside.

just did the full timing chain job on a 2015 Range Rover Evoque 2.0 Ecoboost and after we got done it it still had P0017 code in it but it runs great

Yep, did a cylinder head job on a 2019 ford mustang 2.3L, had to buy the timing tools for the chain and crank sensor. You gotta remove a bolt from the block, insert the crank locking tool, spin engine till it stops on the lock, remove valve cover and make sure the cams are both inline and you can slide the flat locker in the back on the cams. Terrible design, once you remove the crank pulley, the timing is immediately out.

Yup. The reluctor, pulley and sensor all require a special tool to set everything correctly. And yup that crank pulley has no key way. Can't tell you how many times I've had to fix these by checking that. I had a guy completely remove the crank bolt having no idea what he did. And of course I had to re-time it.

I have the blue driver which I can do mods 6 parameters I can get codes from most modules I can read built date of the vehicle and the true odometer also see how long also can see how long the vehicle ran since last code clear. It's quite handy when you searching for a vehicle because anytime you plug it in and it has the ability to record that section

You have 6* per tooth which is correct for a 60-2 tooth reluctor wheel and a possible jumped 1 tooth mechanical timing of about 15*, you measured 18*. I did not notice that the shop gave you any actual mechanical timing info of maybe 1 jumped tooth but this repair is what I would have inspected and found also, thanks for that follow-up on the actual malfunction. I know it's hard to get back to a job at a shop but a confirmation waveform would have been nice even you gave us a known good from PICO. How did the shop know the timing was exact, can they share a waveform with you to post? cheers.

Yeah I really hate how that commercial advertisers the bias against mechanics! That fixd crap! All that does is give you generic OBD2 codes that that will not give you OEM specific codes set this device is not capable of!

I honestly don’t know. Id have to read service information to see what controls the function and see if something turned it off or if there is a fault that’s keeping it from working.

Hi mate, are you sure the Seat memory control is working correctly first of all ? As the mirror folding function is through this module, try this - Sit in driver's seat, then put vehicle in park, press the fold button, followed by the M button, then the 1st memory seat position. If still doesn't work, you may need to do a thorough diagnosis first and/or edit the options of the vehicle configuration using SDD or similar

I dont know specifically on that exact engine but I know fords dont have any key way or pin on crank or cams. I put an engine in a Fusion one time. Service infor said take it out the bottom. Im like fuck Ill pull off that balancer and pull it out the top. When I was installing the converter bolts It went clunk rolling over with ratchet. That was the day I found out that fords dont have keyways.

😱 the Fixd can't fix it 😱 but the adds looks so real, the mechanics just trying to rip you off by charging you a lot of money , so they can afford those expensive and fancy big scan tools that gives you the exact same code 🤔 something is not right, the world is not making sense 😮😂😂😂

Matching your scope image to two that I have, the crank should be two more teeth to the left. My images counts 9.
Between both your scopes, the images are different. Both are out of sync. Believe in live data and an in cylinder pressure transducer test while aligning the pressure waves, will tell that truth with the 0 to 720 degree markers. Pico has that function.
Every time you stop / start the engine, the chain un-syncs because of internal damage.
I found two to match, one being 2013 ESCAPE 2.0 CAM CRK and both match my second image 2011 - 2018 Range Rover Evoque 2.0L L538

Ford quality and just like Ford's in order to clear the codes properly you might have to clear the live memory. Ford's are picky!
