I love the mangroves.. more than that, I love how it’s only mangroves. No buildings or boats, just tranquility. I’m glad you got that paddle board, as now you can go and explore these little remote places! Update: The more I watch the video, the more I’m in love 😍 that polarized lense is insane!!
Epic! While all of us- even me in California, are freezing, you’re chillin in the mangroves surrounded by hundreds of fish on our bucket list! Thanks for taking us with you! 🤙🏼👍🏻👍🏻
That's the trouble with sight fishing, it's hard not to set the hook when you see them inhale it and you yank it right out of their mouth. Got to wait until you feel it!
I’ve seen every one of your videos but this is one of my favorites by far, as a north Florida angler this is so relatable and the sight fishing aspect of it WAS AMAZING!
UsryHunting& Fishing I’m a fan of the googans too and I think it’s just there’s a lot more people who go bass fishing so they have a better following but I think watching this type of fishing in Clearwater is way more fun to watch he definitely deserves to be up there in the 800,000 subs like them
Great video. One thing I've learned fishing on the paddle board is to put a loop or lanyard on your belt, put the handle through, and let the paddle sit at a 45 degree angle down towards the board. It's easier than bending down to pick up the paddle/helps you steer with one hand when there's current.
Lawson Ive been subbed since 2017 and the one quality I admire the most about you is your sincerity when you tell us fans how grateful you are for our continued support. Just thought id tell you that to encourage your madness.lol
Lawson, I never comment on any videos, but i have been watching you for a while along with several other youtube anglers.. I really enjoy your videos and i learn a lot. Don't change your style! This was an excellent video and very entertaining. A couple notes on things I would like to see.... 1 - would love to see you go through the boat buying process.. what boats your considering and the pros and cons of each for your needs. 2 - Mixing in some more of these paddle board/mangrove fishing outings along with the shore/wade fishing videos like you have been doing and 3 - Dont assume your viewers only want to see you catch huge fish..... seeing what your doing just put fish in the boat/paddle board is enjoyable and educating... Thanks Man!
Loved the paddleboard vid! Small crappie jigs, flies, and a micro fluke rigged weedless are the deal back in those tiny mangrove creeks. Can't wait to see your subsequent adventures as you get dialed in!
Sorry forgot to mention like your videos you are epic keep them coming I enjoy watching you fish you remind me of my younger days ...always trying new things ..
I bought a flat bottom, open top kayak and after adding a DIY skeg it doubles for me as a stand up paddle board and it was an awesome, cheap purchase with no trailer required. Lots of fun and I'm glad you decided to try it out
That little spots like an aquarium. I have very little experience with the styles of fishing you do but I have fished from paddle boards many times. So a few tips. Well done on your 1st outing. You packed light, have a big stable board, and chose a sheltered area. Wind is your enemy on a sup. There's so much surface area above the water and so little below the water that even a moderate wind will push you faster than you'd think. If you're confident in what the wind direction will be it's a solid idea to start fishing up wind. You'll get a "free ride" back to your launch spot. Bringing some thing to sit on is a good idea cause it loweres your center of gravity. (More stability and reduces surface area for any wind) Some thing I've found very helpful when seated is to use a double ended kayak paddle. Long SUP paddles are awkward when seated. A very important thing I'd recommended is leave your gear at home and just take your board for a paddle. Get the feel for your board in wind, boat wakes, and current. Move around in the board n tip it till it flips so you'll know where that point is before you have gear with you. Check out a few video tutorials on propper paddling strokes. The paddling you did in your video was easy. But If you do get caught in the wind or current you'll need to paddle with some power and keep a straight course. Which is harder than you'd think, especially in the wind. When your practicing n expecting to fall you should wear a leash. Like most things, SUP-ing is a learning curve. Start easy and work your way up to more difficult and longer trips. I live in San Diego CA and shallow salt water fishing like you do is not available. The little bit of shallow mangrove fishing I have done is in Baja California. The best.producing lure we use are weightless soft jerk baits from 3-10". The Z-man 'jerkz' even float. Fun blow ups on them. You can rig an weedless too. If you havent give a try.
yes Lawson! I just spent a year throwing fly from a paddleboard in the lower keys! Toss a headlamp on and do some night fishing for an awesome experience! Just wait till you hook into one of them full size Tarpon, or a lengthy shark, it turns from fishing to surfing pretty quick! It's all fun and games till you have to paddle 2 miles against the wind..
So happy to see you doing this type of fishing on your channel. Love the diversity on your channel one day your slaying big jacks next day on a paddleboard I know the exact area you’re in. You can catch some very good redfish back there. Definitely rejuvenated your channel for me!!
Love it , Lawson! Keep up the good work. I live in AZ but go to St. Pete a few times a year to fish and visit family. I love watching your videos. I had a dream last night that I was fishing. No quite the same as being on the water but I’ll take it😀
Beautiful video Lawson. This video and some of your recent wade fishing videos have me excited to see what might start happening in another 2 months. Those quiet, shallow mangrove flats would be perfect for topwater, fly, and surbsurface weightless soft plastics used as twitchbaits.
Nice paddling, Looks like a fantastic vessel for sight fishing in the shallows. I can't wait to try my paddle board out, well once the ice thaws. Cool video.
Bro I’ve seen almost all your videos and this is in my personal top 5. LOVED IT. I sometimes get off my kayak when I’m skinny enough and just wade around nice n quiet, but I think u did fantastic on your first SUP experience. Thumbs WAY up👍🏼
Congrats on making the jump! Best items I’ve used on my setup are a crate w 3 rod holders and a spike pole. Best investments I’ve ever made and think you’ll love it.
Man I cannot tell you how excited I was to see you got a paddle board For that backwater no one gets to fish awesome awesome video as always I can’t wait to see the new skiff but man let me tell you I can’t wait to see you back in that place with a fly rod!!
I had honestly started to believe you just didn't have reds in your area. No need to smack talk yourself about the fish being small. It's a lot more fun than you can have sitting on the couch.
I’m so stoked for you, this is one of my favorite videos by far, whatever you do, you have to get your first sleigh ride on camera, its an unforgettable experience and changes your view of fishing forever, getting dragged around by a big fish.
Got my first one last year in Florida on my kayak (I live in Chicago). Got a 32" bull redfish when I didn't have my anchor out, I hooked it about 25 yards from the busy boat channel and it kept towing me towards that channel but i was able to turn it around every time. That channel is scary when you're low in a kayak and big boats are ripping through! But what a fun fish that was, I love catching redfish but only get the chance one week out of the year.
It's nice to see Lawson putting himself in beginner shoes so I can learn through watching Lawson, just bought my first float tube and having the nervous butterflies just like you
Super cool Vid Man, hope to see more about the paddle boat!!! just got myself a solo skiff seems to be pretty much the same, ill probably steal ideas on lures you use!
If this doesn’t get you Addicted to sup fishing nothing will, made for some great content as well, loved the scenery and the new polarized lens made it very immersive. I hope for way more of these in the future! Fantastic work as always and loving the changes!
Lawson, you can twist the paddle at the end of your stroke to keep your board tracking straight when paddling. Rotate the blade of the paddle 90 degrees at the end of your stroke and keep the paddle in the water a few seconds after your stroke. Use the paddle as a rudder
I actually like these kind of videos. I feel like most of us can only afford a paddle board or kayak
I got a heart from Lawson, my life is complete.
Nice ... this has rejuvenated this channel for me and got me wanting to see what’s next ... 😬👍🏼
MIGES Fishing totally agree!
I like these videos way better than a boat video
I agree, also what up brotha
Yes easy kayaks and paddle boarding are fun to watch
Aj Hall same
if you like sup videos, check out mcquadeoutdoors love fishing on the sup
I love the mangroves.. more than that, I love how it’s only mangroves. No buildings or boats, just tranquility. I’m glad you got that paddle board, as now you can go and explore these little remote places!
Update: The more I watch the video, the more I’m in love 😍 that polarized lense is insane!!
I highly recommend lanyards on the paddle and rods.
Be safe and keep on sharing the adventures.
Skinny water is my favorite type of fishing. You get to see countless fish and see the strike.
Excellent video!!
Paddle board tip. Don’t need to use all 3 fins at once. The single center fin is for normal use, and the 2 small ones are for real skinny water.
Those reds in the shallow are a blast on topwaters. Watching them eat is always amazing
I’ve seen every one of your videos but this is one of my favorites by far, as a north Florida angler this is so relatable and the sight fishing aspect of it WAS AMAZING!
One of your best videos...backcountry fishing is a whole new world. Very cool.
This is awesome. You just opened a whole new chapter of fishing . Totally right about the fly rod. Perfect for stealth mode.
This guy needs more subs one of the coolest videos I’ve watched in a while
Jeremy Milhoan he should have more then all of the googans combined
UsryHunting& Fishing I’m a fan of the googans too and I think it’s just there’s a lot more people who go bass fishing so they have a better following but I think watching this type of fishing in Clearwater is way more fun to watch he definitely deserves to be up there in the 800,000 subs like them
Jeremy Milhoan I agree I live in south Mississippi 5 minutes away from the beach and grew up fishing for reds and specks
Loved this video it’s exactly what I do back home you’ll find your own spots and it’s amazing
Very cool vantage point and great to see you so excited to fish!
Yep, the polarizer filter worked fantastically, I could see the fish in the water! Awesome!!!
Coolest video yet. I’m getting excited just watching it like I was behind the rod. Well done Lawson!
That looks awesome! This is a great new direction for the channel!
Can’t wait to see what else you have in store for the paddle board!
This is awesome. I can’t wait to see more of this content on the channel!
Go after tarpon on the paddle
Great video. One thing I've learned fishing on the paddle board is to put a loop or lanyard on your belt, put the handle through, and let the paddle sit at a 45 degree angle down towards the board. this is one of my favorites of your vids dude! Sick location and atmosphere.
I love all your videos! By far favorite fishing videos!
I really enjoyed how calm you were throughout the whole video.
Lawson, I never comment on any videos, but i have been watching you for a while along with several other youtube anglers.. I really enjoy your videos and i learn a lot. Don't change your style! “Ratsickle” “That would really butter my biscuits” u really say the weirdest things😂
Im god
Now you need to do what Joey Antonelli does and catch huge tarpon on the beach on his paddle board
Awesome video man that's literally my dream to be out there in them Florida mangroves use to live in cape Coral miss it every day
One of my favorite videos you've done in a while. Being born and raised in FL. This makes me want to move back.
Wow, this is awesome to be able to see all the fish. Imagine fly fishing off of this thing. Will be awesome!
This honestly might be my favorite video you’ve posted - definitely looking forward to more videos like this one!
I absolutely loved this video. We can see the fish you see. Keep it up!
Man this content of paddle boarding, shallow water stalking is EPIC!
I bought a flat bottom, open top kayak and after adding a DIY skeg it doubles for me as a stand up paddle board and it was an awesome, cheap purchase with no trailer required. Lots of fun and I'm glad you decided to try it out
Bro freaking love the video man, love everything about the kayak and paddle bored fishing man!
Great vid, Lawson. I just got my own paddle board, and learning the ropes myself. I'll be anxious to see your future videos.

"first vid with the paddle board" Yet might be my favorite video yet.
Your awesome Lawson. Got me wanting to start paddle boarding fresh water for bass

Excellent move Lawson. New stuff definitely helps with the motivation. Looking forward to some big reds!
Nice paddling, Looks like a fantastic vessel for sight fishing in the shallows. I can't wait to try my paddle board out, well once the ice thaws. Cool video.

Awesome episode👍🏼
Can’t wait for the fly fishing vid next, also cool to finally see some redfish haha
Another awesome video man keep up the good work up!
SUP is naturally stealthful. You can get right in amongst 'em. Makes for great video.
Lawson, you can twist the paddle at the end of your stroke to keep your board tracking straight when paddling. Rotate the blade of the paddle 90 degrees at the end of your stroke and keep the paddle in the water a few seconds after your stroke. Use the paddle as a rudder
Love love love your content bro!
Epic video !! Keep em coming!!
great stuff man! that kind of experience is why we fish.
My daily dose of saltwater! Sick video man awesome to see ya changing it up so much
