I just started on iRacing yesterday and I was struggling with my framerate on my 4070super and AMD 7500f using PSVR2 for HOURS. UNTIL I found your other video about VR settings. For some reason I never thought to turn off dynamic objects. Anyway I copied your settings and am now grinding my way out of rookies on a buttery smooth 90fps refresh rate. Thank you _so much_ , you deserve many more subs!
Hi, thank you for the feedback, much appreciated. Glad to hear that you are now running smooth. Bare in mind that some tracks, with a heavy grid, or that great nemesis, rain, will cause you to see a performance drop, in which case, drop to 72Hz (if the PSVR can do that, I've not used it), and also consider turning down MSAA to x2, but only for these extreme races where frame rate is consistently hard to obtain, or maintain. Those sort of races you are likely to encounter once you come out of Rookies and go to the D-Class, the Production Car Challenge, for example. Also, some tracks are not very well optimised, so if you see issues, don't always think it's your setup. It could just be that iRacing is pushing it too hard on some of the less well optimised tracks. How are you finding the PSVR2?
@@OlderGamersPerspective I‘ve yet to encounter rain but my hope is that dropping MSAA to 2x will help maintain framerate. Unfortunately the PSVR2 only offers 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rates. A 72Hz option would surely be nice to have, if only as an emergency option. Who knows, it might be added in the future. That said, I might experiment with 60fps reprojected to 120fps as it never bothered me much in GT7. The overall polish and ease of use in GT7 is exceptional in VR of course, but I’m having much more fun with iRacing as it is just better racing and simulation. I still might get a (used) Quest 3 at some point but I’m in no hurry. Keep up the great work :)

Thank you very much. It was a long hill to climb, but totally worth it :) Look out for my livestream in a few weeks time, where I will show some of the analytics of this channel.
Wow. Another older gamer here! 😉. Excellent video. I got an i7 9700/RTX3060Ti 32Gb RAM. Quest 3 (with water in the USB C port, as Meta report every time I use the headset). Now I’m using my Q2. My fps are 89 most of the time. It drops in the finish straight and in the parade lap. Rain it’s a fantastic add on for iRacing. I’m happy. Loved your channel. Liked and subscribed!
Hi, thank you for the support, much appreciated. I think the water in port thing is due to charging with the cable attached to the PC? I don't do that, but I have heard of plenty of people that it effects. If you can run your Q3 without having to charge it while it's connected to the PC, this may solve your issue. The warm up lap does tend to be an FPS killer. Could be that you need to turn down spectators? Set it to low if you haven't already.
Yeah that is an issue. Default one is horrible, so I changed to a cheapo Elite style, which was okay, but no battery. I've now changed to one with a battery, but I am not getting on with it as well as the one without... The search continues.....
Great summary. In addition, I’ve found its track specific. Example I can run full SSR in rain at Fuji or Brands and it runs perfectly. Same settings for Sebring and it’s a drop of 20%. So there’s that factor. I test this with GT3’s and 20 cars, running Pimax Crystal at native resolution 90hz. SSR is beautiful, but for me it depends on track.
Thank you for the feedback, yes, I can believe that. I have often seen that some tracks are much better optimised than others, and some of the newer ones are a nightmare to optimise in VR. Did I get an email from you today about Crystal settings? I haven't had chance to respond, but I will do soon.
Amazing video. Im in the process of planning my next desktop for VR and was trying to discover the best option within my budget. I was afraid anything less than the 4070ti super would not be able to deal with the Meta Quest 3 at good resolution and you just proved that is not the case. In using an i5! Thank you for this very important and useful info! Earned a sub!
I am so glad you found this video helpful. Don't forget that VR is a sum of all it's parts, so connection to the PC via a cable is probably best, and for that you will need a decent port on your mainboard, preferably USB C. But yes, the i5 will do the job and the 4070Super continues to amaze me with it's performance potential .
@@OlderGamersPerspective Yeah im currently using a cable over regular 3.0 USB connector. Probably gonna migrate to the USB-C one on the new motherboard. I found your video very, very helpful. I would sub twice if I could. And like it 10 times. There are good videos about CPU benchmarking on vr out there, but almost every video uses 4080 - 4090 GPUs. This is not viable for me in the country I currently live in, the prices really skyrocket due to taxes. Just know the impact of your content: due to your considerations I've just changed my plans. I'll get a DDR-5 compatible mobo, and I'll be going with the i5 13600 which is pretty affordable here comparing to other options. Now im not afraid of settling for the 4070 super. This gives me room to upgrade down the road, and thanks to your work I know I won't be bottlenecked right at the start. Keep up the great content!
@@shockinho That all sounds like an excellent plan, and thank you for the feedback, please be aware, this really does help me when considering what videos to make. And yes, the amount of youtube videos which feature 4090's is a massive frustration to me, it's like, if I could afford that, my problems would probably ALL be solved, but the 4070Super was really at the edge of my budget, and only really possibly because I could make some of the money back selling the 3070. DDR5 ram was on my wish list, but when I built this system, all the way back in 2023 (lol), it was just to rare and cost too much, plus the mainboards that could handle DDR5 were too much, but thankfully that has all changed now, so you should have a really rocking system. I have to say, since upgrading to 4070Super, on my i5 13600, iRacing has looked like a new game, and some of the track details I now see, on tracks I have used for years, suddenly stand out to me so much, I often feel like I am sightseeing rather than racing. Good luck with the new build and let me know how it goes. I will be starting a Discord server soon, just for people who watch this channel, so communication will then be a little easier.
4080 Super is enough to have SSR enabled and all the other things maxed out. What i lack in this video is comparison of SSR enabled and OFF during heavy rain as when it comes to visibility of puddles and wettness of the track this is crucial in rainy race...
Thank you for the feedback. I can understand why you are hesitant, it is an on going investment, and also, if you start to do well, you will need to start buying tracks, all of which goes away if you don't keep paying your subscription. The way I look at it is; I have played loads of online games where I needed to pay a subscription to play, and if I stopped paying, then I couldn't access the content or the game. But, as with most online games, if I decided to come back, then the content, and my characters (cars and tracks in iRacing's case) were still waiting for me. So, the subscription side of it doesn't matter to me. What I am really after is the ability to race, anytime I like, and find a decent number of players on the tracks where I want to race, using the car I want to race with. And for the most part, iRacing delivers. I have found that the further up you go, in licence class, the less populated the races become, but I have only reached C class, so I don't know what it's like at the top. Racing the rookies can be an exercise in frustration, but as you get better, you will start to move up the Splits and face better, cleaner racers. But it takes time and effort to get there. I would say, if you do go for it, get one of the special offer memberships and go for something like 6 months or a year (you save a lot like that), and then dip in and out, don't race if it's getting on your nerves, and don't race on tracks where you are not able to get the best from the car, as this also leads to frustration, and don't expect to do very well, very soon. If you have the gear, the wheel and the pedals, and maybe a rig, then iRacing is probably one of the better sim racing experiences out there for online races. I'll stop now, because I am starting to sound like an advert... Talk to me again when I have been wiped out on T1 in a rookie race :)
Congratz on 1,000 subs, I love the quality of these videos, I can tell you put a lot of effort into them! If you don't mind me asking, how in the hell do you get your screen recordings of VR to look so damn smooth! I am running on a 4070TI so I know I can get mine to look like that as well! Are you using Oculus Mirror and then using OBS to capture the mirror?
Hi, thank you for the congrats, to be honest, it's still sinking in. When I started last year, I had no idea that I would get this far, or how much fun I would have doing so. I think the first video I did took about 3 months to finish, the next one a month, and so on, gradually getting quicker. For the screen recordings, it depends which ones you are talking about. Some of them are indeed OBS, with me using the replay feature in iRacing to display the image on the monitor and I capture it there. For the recordings you see that show the Performance headroom tool (the ugly thing in the middle of the screen with the wiggly line), I use the record function inside the headset. Basically, once I am set up and ready to race, I do a double tap on my headset, to exit the PCVR space (temporarily) and this takes me back to the Quest area, where I can see a splash screen telling me the Oculus Link is active. On this splash screen, at the bottom, are some icons, and one (second one in maybe?) will start the headset in video record mode. I don't check the option to record the mic, as this puts the audio out of sync, but the game audio will still be captured. Just not my mutterings, which is probably for the best. The headset is set to record in widescreen, with motion compensation set to minimal, the frame rate and data rate at the highest settings. When I have finished recording, I use the USB Detected option in the notifications of the quest headset to get my PC to recognise the Quest 3 as a USB device that can transfer files. I then transfer the video to my PC. From there, I use Premiere Pro to edit the video (mostly chopping top and tail), and then render that to a new file on my PC. The split screen videos are all created in Premiere Pro, but the final timeline is completes using Camtasia. I hope this helps.
First of all, awesome VR videos/content 👍 SSR is pretty heavy in iracing. Even with a 7800x3d & 4090 its hard and i dont have it turned on (running on 90hz).
Hi, thank you for the feedback. Yes, SSR is demanding, I hope one day to build a system that can cope with any sim at any conditions, but I feel their development rate is head of possible future PC performance. Oh well, at least we are not flight siming, that's even worse.
@@OlderGamersPerspective I am using the settings Steve (vr flight sim guy) is using in: ruclips.net/video/OVctsEt-wS4/видео.html He is showing settings for different GPU's
Hey, that's cool. I am glad you find something entertaining in my videos. I am hoping to do more race videos in the future, and more live streams as well.
Thanks for make and share it. Looks like in VR the spray block less the vision compared to usual monitors, I believe in AMS2 something similar happens, could be?
As mentioned here, it could just be slower cars. I was using an Ai race and I did find they were overly cautious. I am keen to try it out on a real race, and then I can see for sure what it will be like. I can tell you, that on some of the faster straights, in some of the heavier rain, it was blinding.
Awesome stuff. I have a very similar set up using the 4070ti. Appreciate all the work, thanks for sharing with the community. Btw, set on high, using 32”hdr triples cripples the FPS. Sticking to off even on triples to keep things around 100fps. All the extra eye candy is nice but it’s going to hurt our wallets.
Thank you for the feedback, and the information. Do you see any difference with SSR on, either low or high? I was hard pressed to see a massive difference. Maybe it's clearer on triples than in VR?
Have you messed with Nvidia Reflex in iRacing at all? I have an RTX 4080 (paired with a 5800X3D) and Reverb G2 and have done loads of tweaking, watching countless videos and reading the iRacing forum VR guide PDF in its entirety and spending a couple days solely to test settings. Your video regarding 90hz settings was very well put together and I shall compare your settings with mine. I noticed a significant smoothness with Reflex + boost, I’m assuming due to the lesser input lag. I tried all 3 combinations and just with my perception and the OpenXR toolkit frame times, I just found Reflex + boost to work best. I believe the iRacing guide PDF recommended it as well.
I have actually been using it since Season 3 started and I was encountering some issues on the grid with more than 35 cars. Someone suggested turning it on and it does seem to have helped with this issue. I too am using Reflex + Boost. However, some users have encountered issues with this setting, causing lots of frame drops, so it does seem to work for some systems, but not for others.
Apparently it is track dependant, in that some tracks will offer better performance than others, which is something I have often seen in iRacing. Have you tried this at Oulton Park?
What about cropping the vertical FoV? i drive mostly cars with roof and have the tangent multiplier on 0.4 because why should i waste CPU and GPU power on rendering the car roof and the driver legs and feets. its more like wearing a helmet. only time i watch the roof or legs is before the start. And it saves massive Power. Power that you can use with SSR (7800X3D. RTX4070 here)
Yep, I mention that in the Conclusion, that you can get more performance either using the FOV tangent multiplier in ODT or the Foveated rendering option in OpenXR toolkit. For me personally, I get on better with the OpenXR toolkit option, as the FOV setting can cause some me some VR sickness when the black bar intersects about the image. But this is a personal thing, and I know lots of people love the helmet look that you recommend. It sounds like a cool option, it just doesn't work for me. With the OpenXR toolkit, setting the Foveated rendering as I showed in the video, I can get SSR to play nicely with my system, but the performance headroom still isn't great, and I am not sure what it will look like on a crowded grid. I am guessing, not pretty.
@@OlderGamersPerspective Yesterday i tried fovated rendering and it distracts me too much...i like the clear vision of my Q3 in my peripherial view and then its full of ugly pixel. so i stay with the cropped view. but thx for your settings
Yes. I know what you mean, I prefer the clean image, without either Foveated or FOV Tangent, this is more a last ditch effort in case I ever need it to improve performance on a less than optimised track, with a large number of cars on the grid. Like I said in the video, both of these methods are acquired tastes.
i hav an old i7-8700k with an RTX 3070 with LENOVO VR EXPLORER. afte some teawking im running at 90fps.. but...but the new tracks or updated tracks the system cant stay at 90fps.. example: Misano, Algarve etc.. anyone knows a solution for that?
Hi, yes this issue has been reported by a number of simracers on my discord channel. Pop over there if you so the discord thing. Sooooo, don't quote me on this, but it has been rumoured that iRacing are aware of some performance, issues and are working on a fix. In the meantime, do you have the option to lower your refresh rate to 72hz?
AMD FSR helps a lot I use Reverb G2, almost at full resolution on my 3080Ti, but I still disabled SSR as it still drops me to 72-80 FPS and in Reverb it is quite noticeable :(
Same, except I have an ASRock Radeon RX 6900XT Phantom Gaming OC. In rain I can run the G2 at around 100% resolution (50% = 100% in SteamVR, obviously) using a hefty FSR cut(I think I have vrperfkit set to like 1700 something) and get mostly 90s, sometimes high 70s and mid 80s, FPS by myself on track, which is manageable. It'd be like 50s and 60s with 20 cars around me, I'm guessing.
in my experience, ive had no fps drop with the rain. if anything ive had better frames since the update. i did seem to struggle at race starts with lmp2 and LMDH cars all packed together previoiusly, but everything has been fine and dandy since the update.
Excellent. I am glad to hear it. I've been having some interface issues since the update, with the UI not being clickable for some reason, but a reboot of the UI seems to clear it, but eventually it comes back again. Teething problems I guess.
Great video! I'm using a rtx4080, but only combined with a 11600k. My vr hmd is a quest2. I think tomorrow I test the rain in vr. Could be interesting how much my potato CPU influence the fps in comparison to your system. Thanks for your great video!
That is going to be interesting. Is rain CPU or GPU bound, or a bit of both. Potentially, with your setup, you could be able to tell me. Looking forward to seeing your results.
@@OlderGamersPerspective 1st short test done. tested 2 scenarios of your video. 1st dry race against 11 ais at oulton Park. Headroom was up to 40% / 2nd I tested same in heavy wet. Headroom up to 30%. SSR off. I would say the gpu is more important as the cpu, but a better cpu would push my fps higher, too. Your settings are pretty cool! Like the clarity. And of course, the quest2 has lower resolution as your quest3. Hard to compare.
Yes the Quest 3 has a big jump in clarity and that does make comparison difficult, but yes, most of the heavy lifting does appear to be done by the GPU.
Yeah, the problem with SSR is that it actually helps you to see the puddles on the track, which of course are to be avoided when you're racing in the rain. That's a huge disadvantage.
without SSR you also see puddles, but much deeper onese. SSR mostly helps with knowing where are shallow "puddles" are or I would actually call them thin standing water :)
I didn't see too much help with puddles, using SSR, but I will admit, I am still getting used to rain in iRacing. Mostly I am getting used to trying to stay on the track.
@@OlderGamersPerspective Basically SSR just adds reflections on the water on the track and doesn't affect actual puddles,m plus adds nice effect to track being wet, if you use SSR you will see better where the track is dty and where is not, but I think it is required for more pro drivers as then they know when to change to wet/dry tires :D
It is slightly worrying that this setting does potentially create an advantage for those who have systems capable of displaying it. This is the first time I have heard of a visual setting that can potentially help lap times, but that will not be available to all. Could prove controversial in the future.
@@OlderGamersPerspective Technically you can say when it is time to change tires without it and the amount of water in those places where SSR is present isn't enough to make a difference in braking compared to a less wet surface, so it is still more visual effect
I did have a look at FXAA, but I found that it caused a performance drop on my system for very little visual gain. In fact it seemed to make things less sharp. Anisotropic filtering, in the NVidia control panel I have set to Application controlled, as this is what has been recommended by those more knowledgeable than me on the iRacing VR forums.
I'm using the same settings as you with PSVR2 on a 4070 and while I had good headroom in the dry, rain absolutely tanked my FPS to 50 making it choppy and unplayable, on Okayama with moderate rain and 16 cars, SSR off. I feel so disheartened with iRacing when it's so much work to get it to run well on a $2000 gaming PC, while GT7 on PS5 with PSVR2 looks far better and runs flawlessly.
Rain is an issue in the rain in VR. Have you tried lowering MSAA to X2…? And also, try the headset at 72hz. Both of these can help keep a stable frame rate in VR.
Yes, that's been my experience. I was racing the other day, admiring how smooth it all was, then noticed the FPS was 72 and realised I had forgotten to reset it back to 90Hz after my testing. So, yeah, a blind test is an important one, and I agree, it often reveals little difference between the refresh rates.
Would be interesting to see you do some SSR testing at 72Hz instead to see what the performance looks like. I imagine it should be a considerable difference.@@OlderGamersPerspective
I also get a stable 90fps (G2, 2080S) except at Sebring, where it drops to around 80fps at the start. Haven't tested all tracks yet, but out of the 20 or so I now tested that was the only one with some fps drops in heavy rain. But it's interesting, some other youtubers like Dan Suzuka and Random callsign have a severe fps drop on their systems. Dan even benchmarked on 3 different pc's. And this is what I read in the comments on Reddit too - some have almost no performance loss, others (often with higher end cpu/gpu's) see a 40/50% decrease. Superweird.
I have not heard about this as I've been racing in places where it was either not raining or just had a track that was wet (which was slippery enough!). But I will look into it.
Yes it is, although it does also have some impact on performance. I've managed without it and still managed to stay on track, although it has to be said that rain in general seems to be very bad for performance in Season 3 of iRacing, in VR. Be interesting to see if season 4 improves on this, or makes it worse. I have found dropping to 72Hz works well with rain, although I have not put SSR on high.
@@OlderGamersPerspective looks like I’ll need to do the same. I’m about to get a VR headset and find it a shame that the settings aren’t going to be set and forget. Would be good if they had a way to dynamically adjust settings to keep the minimum frame rate up on a track by track basis
@@StickyPlasters Yeah, I mean there is kinda that, with Asynchronous space warp in the ODT, but I find that rather than adjusting down it just chops the frame rate in half. I keep trying to log the tracks that are problems, so I can create suggested settings, but then iRacing change something, and my findings all become wrong again. I guess the only way is to simply try stuff and see what happens. Usually doing an Ai Race is a good indication of what performance you will get in an open session, but it's far from a guarantee.
That's a tricky one for me to answer as I have never used one. But if you pop over to the discord channel that supports this youtube channel - discord.gg/tDv9akQe you can ask the group and maybe someone there has some experience of this headset that you can use to influence your decision.
There are a lot of factors in play here, including how you would connect to your PC, Link cable (in which case the cable and the USB port are important), or airlink or Virtual Desktop (in which case the speed of your router is important). In the benchmarks tests that I have seen online, your CPU is about 27% slower than mine, and your graphics card is about 50% slower than mine. So I can't say for sure, but it does look as though you would have a bit of a struggle to get the Quest 3 to run with most sim software, at fairly decent settings. I hope this helps.
Hey, have you recently noticed massive frame drops in the rain? I mean more than usual. I tried one race last week and my frames dropped to like 39 on pretty low settings.. Racing was impossible. The performance in the rain used to be better before.
I haven't had much chance to race in the rain lately, and I haven't tried it at all in this Season 4. But yeah, when I made this video, the performance of iRacing in VR was generally better. Some things have changed, but it's difficult to get iRacing to admit to any wrong doing, so I guess we all need to turn down to 72Hz and lower some settings :(
@@mementomori4972 A lot of stuff in the iracing VR forums about it. Main suspect is one of the settings which got turned on by default a while back to fix a non-vr problem. And that seems to be stuffing everything else up.
@@mementomori4972 I can't recall of the top of my head, but it's in the Ini file. But, it's not 100% certain that this is the problem. Some think it is, others are not so sure.
Yes it is. You open the Oculus Debug tool and there is a setting at the bottom that needs to be set to Performance (its a drop down menu choice). If you take a look at this video - ruclips.net/video/ZO9A39eypbQ/видео.htmlsi=pB5FvYQYQjZxa06u it goes into some detail on what else you can do with the ODT.
You dont need SSR to get shiny water puddles anymore. If that rendering res is for 1 eye it is way too high. Sending you my settings for fun to check :)
I have a 4080 super and 13700k ddr5 5800mhz and your wrong I get 90fps locked at high settings with nit rate in ODT set to 900 and same graphics and SSR set to high on quest 3. Only my triple 1440p 170hz with the same settings SSR high rain and I get over 140 to 150fps. 4080 super is a beast so is the 13700k.
Little confused. Which bit am I wrong about? Are you getting the fps you want or are you seeing drops at 90hz? I haven't really noticed any gain in visual quality when going about 500 in the ODT, but it did cause a lot of audio breaks, which I found off putting. To be honest, I have not seen a big difference between 500 and 300. Just out of interest... VR or triples? Which do you think are the better racing experience?
When you say you can only join test drive, do you mean the test session when the servers are down or the Test Lap? Also, can you start an Ai session and race that? I have seen that the new Ai has some problems. Sometimes it becomes unclickable, and I have to shut it down and start it again to get into the menu system. I also had to uninstall mine and reinstall it as the update kept failing. let me know the answer to my first two questions, and then we can see if there is anything that can be done for you, but you might find a lot of problems go away when the system moves onto Season 2 tomorrow, and probably also gets a patch before the season goes live.
The 5% loading issue can happen when the iRacing Anticheat software does not install properly after an update. All you need to do is stop the iRacing service and manually reinstall the Anticheat software from the iRacing folder.
Excellent tip, thank you for posting. The VR Sim racing community rocks :) Just to note that when you stop the iRacing service, it needs to be restarted again. If you can't figure out how to do that, you can simply reboot the computer and that normally will do it for you.
Are you using a Quest 2 or 3? This is for Quest 3, although I seem to remember it was for the 2 as well. Sometimes, I have found, the Oculus app doesn't update particularly well, and in those case I have found a complete uninstall of the app, then a fresh download of the recent app, and a fresh install is the only solution. You could try that, but I can't guarantee it will work.
Sadly, I buy all my stuff with my own money and can't (at least not yet) afford to swap out graphics cards for tests. But if any makers of graphics cards starting sending me review copies, I will certainly be doing this :)
Looking at the hierarchy charts a 3090ti (which I am currently running) performance wise slots between a 4070 super and a 4070 ti at higher resolutions. A vanilla 3080 will be a fair bit below that. At this point in the game if you spend your money buying a 3080 you are starting out pretty deep in the hole performance wise as compared to the current 40 series. Not to mention the 5080 and 5090 will be launching in the not so distant future. It is even possible that the 4090 right before the 50 series launch may be able to be had at a decent price depending on how many are in the pipeline they need to get rid of at that time. I got my 3090ti which had released at $2000 a few months earlier brand new for $1100 in that type of scenario and have never regretted that purchase at all. I am planning on upgrading to either a 5080 or 5090 depending on performance specs and pricing when they launch.
The only reason you don't notice much of a performance hit is because of your headset. Oculus headsets have low resolutions. Try running my headset with those settings(the HP Reverb G2). You'll be dropping to about 40 or less fps with that setup, and thats if you're using FSR in the vrperfkit.
Yea but Quest 3 is a streaming headset and you get double the latency and compression artifacts. Just get a Pico Neo 3 Link , it destroys all of them on sim racing. @@tonyf9076

Thank you very much. It was a long hill to climb, but totally worth it :)

I am getting mine Quest 3 tomorrow and cant wait to try all your settings !
Thank you so much :)
Cool. Have fun and let me know how you get on. Remember; 72Hz is a good fallback if your performance is struggling.
Have 4080 so it will be not any problems. Now I only wait for new headstrap, default one hurts my head 😅@@OlderGamersPerspective
@@OlderGamersPerspective Nice!! I'll make sure to join the discord!

4080 Super is enough to have SSR enabled and all the other things maxed out. What i lack in this video is comparison of SSR enabled and OFF during heavy rain as when it comes to visibility of puddles and wettness of the track this is crucial in rainy race...
It's a great idea for a video, and I will put it on my list and hope to make it soon. Thank you for the suggestion.

Hi, thank you for watching my videos and also for subscribing. Much appreciated.
What are you most interested in?
new subscriber here. Very professional presentation. Thinking about jumping into iracing but still on the fence

Thanks for make and share it. Looks like in VR the spray block less the vision compared to usual monitors, I believe in AMS2 something similar happens, could be?
Might just be the slower cars or maybe even something to do with his settings but for me, the spray from the GT3's is blinding in VR
@GB-zh3vz strange on my 4080 super and 13700k I get over 140fps on triple 1440p 170hz and get locked 90fps in quest 3 both using SSR high rain

I have a 14900k and a 4090 and I still get an unplayable result with ssr and quest 3...
Apparently it is track dependant, in that some tracks will offer better performance than others, which is something I have often seen in iRacing. Have you tried this at Oulton Park?
Nice, subbed 👍
Thank you for your support. It is much appreciated.

Thanks. I can lower to 60fps.. at 60fps i dont have fps drops but os not so smooth.. some flickering like the sky.. i hope they fix that
@@FBZRacing there is a patch due next week. Hopefully a fix will be in this.
I did try adding FSR in the iRacing settings, but I found the performance dropped off, and the display became less sharp, so I turned it off again.
Thanks for the video!!
No problem, glad you found it helpful.
in my experience, ive had no fps drop with the rain. if anything ive had better frames since the update. i did seem to struggle at race starts with lmp2 and LMDH cars all packed together previoiusly, but everything has been fine and dandy since the update.
@@OlderGamersPerspective try it as soon as possible.
Good Guide, good Work. thank you 👍
Thank you, I am glad you found the video helpful :)
Should select FXAA above SSR
And in Nvidia control panel turn anisotropic filtering to 16x
4090 user. In blind testing in the dry I was unable to tell the difference between 90 and 72, so I run 72 all the time.
That does appear in the conclusions to this video, but I will also do some longer 72Hz tests in the future.
I haven't run my sytem in VR with the new rain yet.
I have yo see when i have that time to figure out what settings i need to mess with in Vr
Start low and build up. Like I say in the video, go back to 72Hz if you are having issues, as this helps out a lot.
Superweird.
I will have to check out the channels. Weird that they are having issues on multiple computers and you and I are doing just fine.
Since the update, apparently hdr is needed to be on, in order to see the rain lights better? As I can barely see them in vr
I have not heard about this as I've been racing in places where it was either not raining or just had a track that was wet (which was slippery enough!). But I will look into it.
Ssr looks quite important for seeing the grippy parts though
@@OlderGamersPerspective yeah good suggestion. Since the start is the most taxing, I could start an ai race, adjust, then go online. Thanks!

Ty
There are a lot of factors in play here, including how you would connect to your PC, Link cable (in which case the cable and the USB port are important), or airlink or Virtual Desktop (in which case the speed of your router is important).
In the benchmarks tests that I have seen online, your CPU is about 27% slower than mine, and your graphics card is about 50% slower than mine.
So I can't say for sure, but it does look as though you would have a bit of a struggle to get the Quest 3 to run with most sim software, at fairly decent settings.
I hope this helps.
Ok thank you for your answer.
Of course i would go with the link cable for the best Performance.
Good choice. Best of luck and I hope it works out okay. Drop me an email if you get into difficulties.

Hello. Since update i can not join multiplier session in VR. The loading screen blocks at 5%. I only can join test drive. Do you know what happens ?
When you say you can only join test drive, do you mean the test session when the servers are down or the Test Lap? Also, can you start an Ai session and race that?
I have seen that the new Ai has some problems. Sometimes it becomes unclickable, and I have to shut it down and start it again to get into the menu system. I also had to uninstall mine and reinstall it as the update kept failing.
let me know the answer to my first two questions, and then we can see if there is anything that can be done for you, but you might find a lot of problems go away when the system moves onto Season 2 tomorrow, and probably also gets a patch before the season goes live.
Con el botón derecho del ratón entra como administrador en iracin,a mí también me pasa pero así te cargará y podrás jugar
At 5.35 you are showing 1.7 rendering resolution at 90hz, mine only goes up to 1.5 ???
Are you using a Quest 2 or 3? This is for Quest 3, although I seem to remember it was for the 2 as well.
Sometimes, I have found, the Oculus app doesn't update particularly well, and in those case I have found a complete uninstall of the app, then a fresh download of the recent app, and a fresh install is the only solution.
You could try that, but I can't guarantee it will work.

Please, can someone give an 4080super to see what is capable of and see if its worth buy it onstead an 3080?. Thanks!! 😂
The resolution of the G2 and quest 3 is pretty similar
Quest 3 and G2 resolution is nigh on identical...
Apart from the miniscule sweet spot on the reverb G2, the reason I went to quest 3. Much happier with the 3
Yea but Quest 3 is a streaming headset and you get double the latency and compression artifacts. Just get a Pico Neo 3 Link , it destroys all of them on sim racing. @@tonyf9076
You really don't have a clue do you? Go check Q3 resolution and comment again 😅
