    Mark Hoffman is actually named after producer Greg Hoffman. He helped get the original Saw film made but he died unexpectedly shortly after the premiere of Saw 2. He’s credited posthumously as a producer for all the Saw films.

    "I promise that my work will continue."
    Fun Fact: The Tobin Bell body cast used in the autopsy scene took two weeks to be constructed.
    Huge Appearances Fact: Saw III (2006) was Costas Mandylor's and Betsy Russell's first appearance in the series. Although they both have minor roles in that movie, they would become main characters in four of the films that followed.
    Practical Over CGI Fact: The seamless transitions between separate scenes in the film were not created using digital effects, but were done practically. For these transitions, the sets were built in such a way that two separate scenes could be filmed in one shot without interruption.

      Also two people from saw 2 had little cameos in this one. Gus the one that punched out that guy in the clinic was the one that got killed by the door peephole gun combo. The prostitute that tried to solicit John was the girl that got her hands caught in that blade trap.

      My main man Gator! Good to see you my friend. I promise to watch something other than horror eventually…
      I was wondering about that body cast so I’m happy they put so much effort into it. These movies have some great practical effects but that autopsy scene was crazy realistic!
      And the scene transitions being done without digital effects is incredible!! I can’t believe the planning that had to be done to make that happen. I’d love to see the behind the scenes of that

    Fun Fact: In the flashback clinic scenes there are a numerous amount of cameos from characters who were in previous Saw films, kind of implying that John got a lot of his victims from there. Those characters include: Troy (Saw 3 chains trap), Gus who punches Cecil (Saw 2 eyehole gun trap), Michael (Saw 2 opening venus flytrap), Addison who talks to John in his car (Saw 2 razor box trap), the guy who Amanda cuts open in Saw 1, and Paul (Saw 1 razor wire maze).

    Saw 2 took place 6 months ago and Saw 3 and 4 were happening simultaneously, but in Saw 3 we only saw Lynn's perspective and Jeff's perspective. The beginning of Saw 4 in the autopsy room is actually what happened after all the events and that's why Hoffman is surprised.

    “You knocked over lil Billy man.”
    😂😂 You are so funny without even trying. You’re hands down one of my fav best reactor for this series. SAW is almost like a horror soap opera to me, but a brutal one if that makes any sense. The storylines becomes more elaborated and stretched, but yet easy to follow. This was my fav one as far as setting goes with Rigg’s storyline compared to the others.

      And I can for sure see this being a horror soap opera with it all centered around John and his wild ass life. Once the reveals happen at the end, it’s always gives you they dopamine hit that you just can’t replicate.
      Riggs had such an interesting journey when compared to the rest of the “test subjects.” I really hope he didn’t die right there because I’d love to know how his story followed up.

    Fun fact: originally in the old Saw 4 Eric Matthews was to be in Rigg’s place. He was meant to be dropped off at the hospital after Saw 3. And his ex-wife would have been on the ice block trap. But Donnie passed on it, so the swapped it with Rigg saving his girlfriend than at the last minute Donnie changed his mind and this is the version we got. Which I’m fine with. I love that minor characters become major ones in the next movie. Makes Jigsaw’s world feel more real (if you know what I mean lol) can’t wait for Saw V! Also... the point of Rigg's test is to not really save anybody. He needed to see them saving themselves without aid. For the first test, he was supposed to leave Brenda to her fate and do nothing. The catch for this one is that if Rigg does end up saving Brenda, then that's when her test begins. All of the photos you saw was of her pimping out young girls. Jigsaw told her that should she let him save her, she'd have to go to prison due her crimes but if she kills him, she'd be "free" for the lack of a better word.
    The second test is more or less, making Ivan, a rapist, try to save himself from his sins. Either lose your eyes or lose your limbs.
    The third test is to determine if Morgan had learned her lesson in not only standing up for herself but also learning to save her child as well due to kind of being a coward.
    Again, her husband Rex was abusive towards his family. Dude even broke bones while doing it to her countless times. In her case, in order to survive, she has to pull the spikes out but by doing so, she ends up killing her husband because the spikes are in his vital spots. However, if she did nothing, she would slowly bleed to death.
    The last test was Rigg to simply just do nothing and let Eric, Hoffman and Art figure out how to survive and save themselves.
    All Rigg had to do was do nothing but he end up failing the lesson.

    • @THEREALSCRAPPY
      @THEREALSCRAPPY 9 месяцев назад

      I do feel like the reason that Rigg's being tested for is kinda BS.
      He's not supposed to save people, because he can't save everybody? AIN'T THAT WHAT YOU'RE TRYNA DO, JIGSAW??? (He's the one that's trying to save them by giving them a choice to either save themselves or die.)
      Very hyprocritical of him.

    • @83shadow3
      @83shadow3 9 месяцев назад

      @@THEREALSCRAPPY There is a right way an a wrong way to go about it tho the last test proves it. Because if you actually pay attention what happend when he rushed through. A unsecured door last time people got killed so rushing to save someone's life got people kill. In this case all he had to do was wait until the timer ran out then the trap would of never went off. But he didn't learn from last time he rushed through a unsecured door an got people killed. He rushed through the door when he had time but because he rushed through it like the last time. He got the person killed because he engaged the trapped like he did last time. Some who wants to save lives would of learned from the first time to take their time an think think things through. Not just rush in without thinking because if you just rush in without thinking. You do more harm than good that was the point of his test. Think before you act because you actually save more life's if you think before you act. Because if you just rush in without thinking you set things off an make things worse. In this case setting of traps that never would of been activated. Because he set off the first trap by removing the pig mask. If he laft it alone the trap never would off been activated. Then the last trap if he just waited for the time to run out. Then the door could of been opened without the trap going of. Like the last time he went through a unsecured door if he would of waited. For the door to be checked an secured no traps would of went off an no one would of died. So him rushing through things without thinking actually was getting people killed instead of saving people.
      Now John Kramer or Jigsaw never rushed through anything. He took his time an thought every single thing through. Before he took any kind of action unlike Riggs.

    Man, I finally saw Saw X (sometimes I really hate the English language)... wow! But don't worry, NO Spoilers Below:
    Something I really enjoyed was that it seemed like they were trying to make a legitimate movie... but with blood and gore. Also, Tobin Bell was trying to win an Oscar - and he certainly deserves it, to be honest. His performance was... stellar, award worthy. The performance of a lifetime. That man deserves to be a huge star, and respect as a serious actor. Now, there are some things in a Saw movie that are just staples of the franchise but were lacking here. However, I did NOT notice any of them until after I got home, so it wasn't really a big a deal because it was such a great film. Also, there was a mid-credit scene.

    I am commenting as I watch. I really like this movie because it explains SO much about what happens to people and about what started it all. I felt like I was connecting the dots the whole time and I love that feeling in a franchise. it's so rare, horror or not. I loved that this (The Rigg part) was happening at the exact same time as Saw 3. Jeff was so dumb the entire time that it hurt, grief or not. I love how everyone's clues are there the whole time and almost everyone still fails. The movies going forward are still compelling. Jigsaw testing Rigg and Jeff to let go of their obsession. Jeff obsession of getting revenge on his son death; and Rigg obsession of trying to save everyone. Awesome reaction as always! This series is definitely great the timeline is so unique and the twists are spectacular.
    At 40:30 though the point of Rigg’s lesson is that he has to learn to let some people save themselves. That’s a big motivation of John to become Jigsaw in the first place after Cecil causes Jill’s miscarriage. He tells her that she can’t help the people at her clinic they need to save themselves.

    Hey Cole! I really dig these vids, your hype is real, and your train of thinking, right on track. Saw 4 gets a bad rep, being put close to last in most people's Saw movie tier lists, but I dont think it deserves the hate it gets. Saw 4 gets flack for not being a true direct sequel like 2 and 3, because (as you guessed), it does indeed take place alongside 3 in the timeline, and its kind of a confusing one, with all the flashbacks and explanation and introduction to a handful of characters (most of which are important to the overall timeline). The traps in this one to me seem a bit more...cruel, and carnal. The twist at the end imo was quite solid; and in Jon's last tape to Rigg, he does only mention "you failed to save the life of Eric Matthews", doesnt mention Hoffman, though...you have to be real quick to pick up on that right away. Oh, dont worry, we'll be seeing more of mr Hoffman, and getting more life lessons, coming up in my personal favorite Saw film, Saw 5.
    Without giving anything away, the psychological aspect of this one, is why its my favorite, and I hope you continue to enjoy the series, as we slowly but surely reach the more...generally not-so liked films in the franchise. Keep up the great work, Cole!~

    riggs test was somewhat laid out like " he likes saving people too much and opens doors too early so he must be tested" but in actuality it was really like a recruitment process and the test for riggs was a test to see if he could properly adopt the philosophy and in order to do that he must learn that "people need to help themselves" aka the traps are good do not try to save people

    The thing about Saw IV is the Jigsaw backstory mixed in can be confusing it could been a prequel movie on its own. The current event's of Saw IV happening alongside Saw III up to the autopsy was cleverly written and I like the twist that Hoffman was the other lackey helping Jigsaw. I know Eric suffered for six months but Rigg who had just been physically shot had to be mentally hurting that he inadvertently killed his detective buddy and that his longtime colleague Hoffman betrayed them in the worst way. And I don't know why Rigg just wasn't able to understand those simple clues in the Gideon Meat Plant. Time is on your side...remember who you are saving. Even Art Blank was pissed about why he even opened that door and was one second to freedom smh

    this has been on my top of Saw movies and it still is. I get some folks don't like it, but I particularly like it for plenty of reasons. Only thing I dislike is maybe that the ending rushes a bit and that's why some people are left confused as to what happened.

      I love this movie! It may not be my favorite of the bunch so far but I think it did great with what it had (after jigsaw and Amanda died). Rigg’s journey was incredible to see and I loved seeing Eric Matthews still being tested after all that time. It tied up a lot of loose ends from 3.

  • @Pippa_McConnell
    @Pippa_McConnell 9 месяцев назад +1

    -Every Saw film has two plots running side-by-side: the person or people trying to get through the traps (the A-plot, which is what most people watch the series for) and the efforts of the police to catch Jigsaw before his victims all die (the B-plot). Daniel Rigg was actually a fantastic protagonist to follow through the A-plot, a shame that this entry in the franchise exudes large amounts of "made-for-TV" energy as far as the cinematography was concerned.
    -As satisfying as it is to watch John take revenge on the man who took away his child, it also falsifies his claim that he "never killed anybody". C'mon, he wanted Cecil to die no matter what, so why is his vengeance valid but Jeff Denlon's isn't? John will also inflict some very personal, very UNFAIR, vengeance on another character in a later entry.

    Some see Riggs being tested as unfair but if you actually payed attention to the movies. It was fair because he was in a way actually getting people killed because he was. Rushing in to things without thinking first. Case in point the earlier Saw movie he was told to wait until the door was secure. He didn't he told his team to go in before it was secured then as a result he got people killed. How was that saving people it was getting people killed it was not saving anyone. Then let's just look at some of his games in this movie. The first one if he did nothing the first trap never would of been activated. Because it was only activated when he removed the pig mask. Then the one in the hotel if he didn't go to the hotel that trap never would of happened. But he did go there an seen what he seen an he put the guy in the trap. Then the last trap if he did nothing an the timer ran out. The trap never would of gone off killing the person he was trying to save. But he rushed through the unsecured door like in the other movie an as a result. Another trap was set off killing someone so you see it all makes perfect sense.
    Because he was trying to save people but there is a right way an a wrong way to go about it. Riggs did it the wrong way he never stopped to think about what was going on around him. He rushed in blindly an as a result was setting of traps or getting people put in traps. Like I explained above that is not saving people that only gets people killed. The right was to save lives is to take your time and think things through before taking any kind of action. Because if Riggs did that not of those traps would of ever been activated. So that means everyone in those traps would of lived. So by Riggs rushing to save lives he actually did the opposite he got people killed.
    So Riggs test was justified because in rushing to save lives he got people killed instead. That was the lesion John Kramer or Jigsaw was trying to teach him. Because those people whore safer trying to save themselves because alone they never would of set off those traps. But Riggs trying to save lives ended up setting off all of those traps.
    But then I am used to paying attention to people an their actions. Because it leads to actual consequences later on. Because for example I grew up watching Clive Barkers original Hellraiser from 1987. Where it was about the human characters an their actions the entire length of the movie. The people did something then something happened as a result of those actions. Same here Riggs had a obsession to save people that lead him to. Not slowing down an thinking things through first so as a result he keep setting off traps an killing people. That an lead to people being put in traps an then dying as this movie clearly shows. Because if he just walked away the person in his apartment would of lived. The guy at the hotel would of lived Detective Matthew's would of lived. Because Riggs is solely responsible for those traps going off. If he would of laft with his girlfriend those traps never would of gone off. That or if he laft Jigsaws game alone the people would of lived.

    The answer to your question is yes. The tape found in John's stomach was the same tape he shallowed while he was talking to Lynn in the last movie. I remembered being so shocked by the ending and felt such goosebumps. Number one, I never expected that this was going on at the same time until I heard Amanda spoke saying the same lines from 3.
    As I saw more of what was happening, it started to sink in that 4 was taking place RIGHT at the same time as 3 was happening! That whole time we were led to believe that it was AFTER, not DURING! That never came across my mind at all. And the fact that Hoffman was in all of it too was wild. But that would somewhat explained why he was picking up some of the chains from Troy's trap earlier. That was insane. The other part I liked was the beginning of the relationship between John and Jill with it all going to shit due to the actions of an addict. The lost of their child was heartbreaking and tragic. In some ways, John not only turned into Jigsaw, but was almost a mirror version of Jeff. Oh and my favorite trap in this movie was the spike trap for Morgan and her husband Rex in the classroom. Its simple but effective. Also... Rex was a piece of shit who beat Morgan and their daughter. He kind of deserved his fate. It was also funny seeing Rigg beat the shit out of him too lol.

    This was the first one I saw in theaters so naturally, I'm a little biased when I say I love this one lol! I'm glad you liked this one too! Saw V is honestly my favorite of the series.
    The whole point of Riggs games was to get him see he's not "saving" by trying to stop Jigsaw games, the games are what save them......that just jigsaws mentality. And Rigg actually didn't even have to participate at all, it was his "obsession" to save Eric that led him to. The scalping trap started because Rigg pulled the pin out with the hood, he drove himself to the motel and school and Gideon building. He could've just stopped and went to be with his girlfriend, like the note in the motel room said.
    There's actually an alternate ending to the film that they made, and in it Rigg learned his lesson and waited outside of the room with Eric Matthews in it, letting the clock end. Rigg still would've died, being shot by agent straum instead. Also, there was an unused trap in this movie. The glass box you briefly see was going to be used instead of the bedroom trap. The drunk guy arguing with Ivan was going to be forced inside and he would've had to find a key inside, but it was removed due to the censors considering it too violent.
    Can't wait for you to watch Saw V!
