Conversion therapy, as I know it, is the practice of yelling at children or teens, telling them that being gay is a sin and they are going to hell.
In some places, it includes crazy physical torture practices like submerging your personal parts in ice or making you pray under cold water.
And the most passive ones try to make you pray, then you affirm you are now heterosexual, get married, have children, but in some cases, you end up cheating behind your partner's back because who you feel attracted to doesn't change.
Then, teens and children go there to stop being gay, bi, lesbian, or trans, in order to regain the love of their relatives and be seen as humans. I am against it because it is dehumanizing sometimes, sometimes abusive. There are a lot of cases of sexual harassment, but overall, I am not a failure. Neither of us is, and I don't have to stand being mistreated, insulted, or have someone suppose they know my struggles better than me.
Because I deserve to love whoever I love, have dates like normal people, and no, your straight children will not turn gay from seeing me, but someone who is gay is going to know then that they are normal and will not hide or stand being forced to change, and if that's what someone doesn't like, that tiny possibility, then your system is so fragile that I can break it with a kiss in a public place, or wearing a dress, or waving a pride flag. I will not stand for abuse, whether for heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual individuals. I will never support treating people like they are not human until they fulfill a standard.
And it's not all about trans kids, please. I understand they shouldn't have hormones when they are that young, but if your "boy" wants to wear long hair and be called Melanie and your teen wants to be called she/her, then guess what... you will not stop them from overcoming this abuse. They will grow as humans and do what they feel like with their bodies, and your reluctance to think further does not need protection. Accept it, it is not "back in the day," it's human rights time: yesterday, today, and tomorrow. You are not any more of a human than me if you don't try to actually be better than me in something "more beneath you" than being "normal."
And you all know what... I don't hate anyone, I have better things to do in my human, short, limited life than hating people like getting a degree or being a productive human being, to actually make a change in my little, tiny piece of the world.

My daughter pulled this on me at 13 and has tried to keep it up since she is now 18 and in Uni. Claimed she was initially gay, but now says she may have been wrong she might be bi....I am taking it a right step on the right path to an answer to daily intercession for my children's souls.

@@binodtharu1236 you do know that kids can’t get medical intervention until puberty because some kids outgrow their dysphoria. Even if they don’t outgrow it it’s hard to get your hands on medicine. Kids take puberty blockers which are reversible and boast no long term affects

Conversion therapies for kids should be illegal in every aspect:
    - either those, applied by conservative Christians, for homosexuals to become heterosexuals, which according to the WHO doesn't work at all,
    - and those who try to change the body of a kid.
Homosexuals are born with their orientation (as much as heterosexuals) and nothing can change it, and there is also no reason to change it.
Trans people should think long time about what they plan to do and take that decision as ADULTS; once they decided they should be respected for that.

by this logic, a child has no right to define their sexuality in any right; they may not be straight, gay, etc, and you are essentially restricting them from anything seen in a romantic connotation until they are no longer a child.

The law most likely isn't actually called the conversion therapy ban it's probably just a law that makes it easier for trans people to get gender affirming access (not just kids) and offers more protection for lgbtq+ people, and also bans conversion therapy. That's just my guess.
Also, if a kid is asking for hormone blockers, they're most likely around 13 or 14. I have never heard of a 10 year old kid asking for hormone blockers. In fact, they probably haven't even hit puberty yet so it would be completely useless to them.
Now, I'm not saying you aren't justified in what you think and feel, but I will say, that hormone blockers don't cause harm. They're like how some people take birth control to not have periods, but instead it's for stuff like stopping breast growth or hair loss.
Hormone blockers are sometimes even diagnosed for kids who start puberty too early, and that's completely okay. Once you stop taking them, your body goes back to its hormonal functions.
I'm doing all this to say: hormone blockers should be accessible to anyone who needs it because its harmless and the effects are completely reversible. That includes people like you.
In fact, I actually take hormone blockers and I'm not even trans! I take them because the men in my family have a history of hair loss, and I started having some symptoms of that as well, so I started taking blockers so I could keep my hair.
I know I probably won't change your mind, and I'm not looking to do so! I just wanted to share some information that I think is important because when talking about things like this, the facts are so incredibly vital.
And yes, these are the facts. I should know, I'm a biologist.

You borderline erased your entire comment by making the appeal to authority at the end. You being a biologist has nothing to do with the fact that puberty blockers, if used throughout the entirety of said stage of life, will permanently alter your physiology. Especially if you are a male. How can you say your a biologist but not acknowledge that prolonged exposure to exogenous hormones or things that replicate endogenous chemicals to bind to receptors alters and messes with your body’s internal chemistry and said receptors? If you smoke weed for anxiety, your mood regulation is going to suck without it after a month. If you take testosterone to reduce the risk of prostate cancer or for any other reason, you ruin your body’s ability to produce its own and thus need perpetual TRT. If you smoke nicotine frequently your ability to focus will suffer without it. Your body won’t produce norepinephrine properly if you drink coffee, and that won’t return to normal function for a long time. If you take hormone blockers, your body will not produce the hormones. Yes the science is “the blockers only block the receptors, not the production “ but the body is smart. It will not produce what it doesn’t use.

    • @WhiteHawkmma
      @WhiteHawkmma Год назад

Not to mention certain growth processes only happen within certain time limits. Block puberty from happening properly in those time spans in boys and you have messed up bone structure and musculature, and even penis development(never mind the things that occur in the brain that are necessary), higher risks of cancer, and more. Same goes for women, you mess up their reproductive and outward appearing anatomy and make internal issues much more likely

Fun fact kids are put on hormone blockers all the time for unrelated reasons for example endometriosis it is common to be put on birth control or hormone blockers as an older kid/young teen (think 11-14) and hormone blockers have no long-term ill effects as long as you get off them and go on some kind of puberty before you turn 25 this is well studied and documented. If you're going to be transphobic and try and use arguments like this you should at least research them.

Yes this is true in the fact in which these blockers tend to be used for medical purposes such as helping relieving symptoms of pain for a larger problem… not pretending to be something that you’re not. If you want to make such a drastic change to your body rather than being comfortable in your own skin, you should at least wait until your brain is fully developed rather than give a 10 year old the opportunity to do something they likely will regret.

@@standard_stoutland4373 Like I said homeroom blockers have zero negative long-term impacts as long as you go through some kind of puberty before 25... A 10-year-old can go on hormone blockers and then if they decide at 18 they don't actually want to go through with this they don't have to and there will be no long-term negative consequences it is completely safe Of course given in those eight years they go through therapy and are watched by medical professionals like most kids who go through any drastic change in or out of their control should be
