I absolutely refused to come out to anyone, even my therapist, until after I turned 18 so I wouldn’t be forced into conversation therapy. My parents are incredibly homophobic. No one should have to go through that or fear that. Just horrific.

((HUGS)) I can only imagine how awful that was for you. Glad you made it out!
I will say with your therapist, they are required by law to keep patient confidentiality. Breaking that with your parents would be highly illegal, unless your life is in immediate danger (which it wouldn't be, so you could sue)

So many people with Chiari also have POTS and it’s not really that black and white.
Fun Fact- POTS stands for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.
POTTS is actually tuberculosis of the spine.
One time someone selected POTTS instead of POTS in the computer when doing my medical chart. Was a surprise to me when I saw the appointment summary talking of my Spinal Tuberculosis. LoL.
(Obviously this was corrected in my chart. But I will now always know what POTTS is)

Conversion therapy is awful. Any parent that subjects their child to it should do mandatory 25 years with no parole option and their kids taken away to a reasonable family member.
Happy pride
Only 25yrs? That seems like a bargain from my perspective with some of those 'anti'' families. They are in prison for 25yrs after they get to ruin their child's entire life and likely give them additional trauma and pain. (Hypothetically they'd be teen years (think 15ish) and retirement is around 65, so theoretically an additional 50years more of their lifespan at minimum). So they get to effect their child for at least twice as long as they are serving a sentence for. Also, prison tends to supply food, shelter, blankets, a place to go to the toilet, potential segregation, and tends to have a policy regarding minimising harm to other inmates. I think the parents would have it good. (Disclaimer: I feel that as long as you both (or more) are informed, and willingly consenting adults, you do you. I have also had the blessings of NOT experiencing conversion therapy, parents that were 'anti' me being me, or have been in prison/jail etc at this point in time).
That's not enough. I'd say life in prison without parole or the death penalty if that's legal in the jurisdiction where this hypothetical parent resides.
I know right! Because mutilating your body, injecting yourself with hormones which will chemically castrate you, pretending to be someone you aren't, and encouraging children to do the same is not child abuse at all!
I agree. And the same for any parent that allows doctors to destroy healthy organs of their children as a "treatment" for the child's delusions.

I had a pleural effusion several years ago. They took 3 liters of fluid off my left lung. A portion of my pericardial sac was also full of fluid. The doctors had no idea where it came from or what caused it. And this is where I wish I had Dr. House on my case. However, I wasn't symptomatic. No shortness of breath, no fast heart rate, nothing. All except an earache and some pus on my eardrum which went away after a round of antibiotics. 3 weeks after the antibiotics, a doctor looked at my blood pressure and said it was pretty low and that I looked tired. He listened to my chest, but nothing there. He then told me to say 'eeeee' and sustain it as if I was singing a note. Did that twice, then he said to me "I think you need a chest x-ray". So I went from that appointment to another clinic, had a chest xray and the PA came in and said "You have the most remarkable pleural effusion I have ever seen." The first thing I said was "Can I see it?" He showed it to me. Everything was white on the left side of my chest except for an area about the size of a large orange. I looked at the PA and said "Why am I not showing symptoms are a lot sicker than I am?" He shrugged, then I said "I know what has to be done. It's going to be lung tapping time." Sure enough, that's what they had to do asap. That was on a Friday. They took two of the largest glass bottles I had ever seen and loaded them up, and then another half bottle. On Monday, I had to go in for another tapping and they took another liter off. I have scarring around the lower portion of my lung that causes me issues now and then, but that was pretty scary.

@@darren334 why it should be mandatory?
it is in some places
Anyone who even considers conversion therapy should be lifted of their parental rights.
You know you life is sad when you get excited when your chronic illness is name dropped on house lol
I love the "you were born that way" comment.
Why? It has no proof behind it
@@wacawaka1802 it actually has.
@@wacawaka1802 Well actually the position of current evidence-based medicine and clinical guidance is that homosexuality and gender variance are natural and healthy aspects of human sexuality.
thirteen's face when he said "I'm as straight as any of you" 😂😂 she was like "well, about that..."
Love this show ❤
I have POTS too, it’s very scary and you never know when your gonna hit the floor next
“Zap the fabulous out of him” iconic.
Omg I deadass kept read conversation therapy and was reading comments wondering why everyone was so riled up until I finally watched through.
Can you imagine how much it would cost to get treated by House in the U.S.?? All the Lab tests, scans, drugs, etc
Like 1 mln $
@@mattbergman2788 health insurance doesnt cover everything unless you are already a millionaire with the best insurance money can buy
@Matt Bergman if you think that insurance you get from work covers everything, you dont know how insurance works
@Matt Bergman teel me then, what job do you have that has insurance that will cover literally everything?
@Matt Bergman so because you have a job that generally has a 6 figure salary, you feel like you can talk down to people who don't have the same opportunities you do and make it seem like "Oh you are just not as skilled as me" despite knowing nothing about my situation other than never hearing of job provided insurance that will make incredible amounts of expensive of medical care completely free (which I'm not even convinced exists since based on my research, all plans I see either have deductibles you need to pay first, or have no deductible but you need to copay and while I did find 0 deductible %0 copay those have out of pocket maximum so you still need to pay before the insurance starts. And these would have to actually be provided by your job instead of paying yourself which makes it even less likely).
Maybe stop being a complete ass to people you perceive as below you and actually contribute something meaningful to the conversation
House being a betchy ally is everything
Love that he mentioned pots
"I'm as Straight as any of you"? Yeah, people who say stuff like that usually aren't. Just ask Michael Glatze.
