The most unrealistic part about this show is the amount of care and consideration the doctors give their patients. In reality this guy would have just died.
I worked in several ERs across the country and some of them would and some of them wouldnt. Usually city hospitals let you die and then they get lunch.
That'll be $150.000 please
Could be true in America's for profit healthcare system. But give medical professionals some credit, most are just regular people who are overworked in an extremely stressful occupation.
@@Christian-px2jw as someone who has actually worked in healthcare, and has also been failed by the medical system as a patient as well, I stand by the original comment.
This show (and most medical shows) unrealistically have the doctors with the patients 24/7, doing the jobs of 20 people that doctors normally never touch(Xray, mri, blood draw, interventional, lab, etc). This is literally just not done. Ever. By doctors.
Not to mention most doctors are severely limited on what they are even allowed to explore thanks to insurance and hospital policy. This is what makes the medical system the way it is.
This guy would have just died IRL.
It’s sad, but true.
@@SOTFarchive Ehhh..."As someone who has worked in x field" is the standby of every internet layman pretending to be a professional. I'm not saying you haven't worked in medicine, I don't know you, but that statement stopped convincing me even a little years ago.
Regardless, I was just objecting to what I interpreted as a dig at real medical professionals - I hardly believe that House is an accurate representation. And I definitely wasn't defending America's healthcare system, I've never even been to America, but it's pretty notorious for being grossly corrupt. I just don't appreciate that weirdly prevalent disdain people have for folks doing a complicated, essential and oftentimes thankless job.
I love the look Chase gives Taub in response to "I think they call that breakfast, in Australia"
he was gonna break haha
that sequence looks quite improvised indeed :)
I was gonna say this too lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’m Aussie and idk why he looked offended cause it’s true
Edit:spelling
2:29 I love how 13 says "disgusting" things, and Chase just confidently takes a big nom right in her face anyway
Pretty in character, doctors are pretty desensitised.
Fun things are never sanitary.
Well yeah, that's just breakfast where he comes from.
Of course, those things sounded appetizing to an Aussie
I remember hurling in a ER while a nurse ate peanut butter a few feet away. War changes you.
Taub actually makes a good point about medieval/early renaissance armor not protecting well against concussions. That's why maces and warhammers were the go to anti armor weapon for hundreds of years.
All in all they protect pretty well against concussions. That's why it NEEDED maces and war hammers.
Just look at "Battle of the nations" essentially low quality medieval armor and they beat eachother with polearms. By far not everyone leaves the field with concussions.
dont forget the flail . pointy and heavy .
I mean his sword cleanly split a model skull sooooooo
those concussions are caused by resonant frequencies in the steel. it vibrates really fast when struck, even makes a ringing noise, at a certain point it vibrates too hard and liquifies your brains
@@jamescheddar4896 What are you talking about? No they're not. That's actually hilariously wrong. The concussions happen because the brain swells after smacking into the skull. The hammer imparts energy into the helmet and therefore skull, the rigid skull moves faster than the soft brain, so the skull and the brain meet and the brain gets temporarily squished.
The most shocking line here was, “I don’t know who Frodo is.”
Aight hold on I'm going to shock your heart out of rythim here

Thank you! Not enough folks remember his older stuff.
Ah, yes. Good ol George. He was an idiot - but at least he was loyal.
Imagine doctors going to your home/work to see if they can find out what made you sick 🤣
yeah it's not realistic but you gotta learn to suspend your disbelief if you wanna get into this show at all.
If that happened IRL they would find so many workplaces with obvious safety hazards, badly stored chemicals, poor hygiene and whatnot.
It's been a while since I watched House, but from what I remember, they are specialized differential diagnosticians. Not a lot of hospitals would have a team like this, and even in hospitals that did have one, very few patients would have access to that team. No doubt their routine in this show is not completely realistic, but these wouldn't be average E.R. doctors, they would be the last resource when other doctors couldn't find the cause for the symptoms, so I guess they would be willing to use some unorthodox practices to get accurate information and history about the patient.
"doctors" yes. But this is a special team working on cases that no one else can solve; why don't most commenters know this?
It's called occupational medicine. Yes, we do check the workplaces of patients.
There will never be a hospital where five doctors work tirelessly on one patient to ensure he’s diagnosed properly and is cured
This is a teaching hospital; I had at least 6 Fellows and one attending work in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit that I was in, when I had my BMT.
*work together
I had at least three doctors trying to help me when I had cancer. Though of course they all had other patients too. and they had board meeting with other doctors to discuss my case and decide treatment.
Another newbie? Please find out first what House MD and his team are about before you think that they are supposed to be just your normal routine hospital doctors.
@@MisterHowzat you are definitely misinterpreting the comment. Please go back back and read it.
"Try Doing THAT With A Pen" 😂

The most unrealistic part is people dressing appropriately at the renaissance fair
I know, right? Where're the people in Star Trek uniforms?
So,... dressing not appropriately would be more realistic? -- something I think House would say.

There’s always that friend who has never played with a knife before but starts flinging it around nonetheless, making everyone in their vicinity fear for their health.
you have short legs and hairy feet🤣
Imagine waking up from a literal heart attack to hear the doctor say "AND I TOLD YOU"
Blooper: After House cuts the head in half it falls forward, camera angle changes - the head is up again.
Simple. House healed it with his magical wizardly diagnostic powers!
Also cut at a downward angle so his hand holding the sword had to be higher then the head.
House is that good with the sword. He cuts the head with one swing, and with another swing he puts the head back up and cuts to the other angle. What do we know about swordsmanship.
I like how house used the cow eye like a bouncy ball

What if they did all that just to find out he had no health insurance 😂
That is the saddest thing I've ever heard
I've been in a hospital in the U.S. without health insurance.
They still do all this with or without, the doctors generally aren't privvy to your insurance. It's part of the process.
Hospitals know the feds will recoop the cost. Don't let too much of the modern dilemma fool you. There are reasons all the bills have that support paper on the last page you can fill out and get it either massively reduced or often times forgiven.
We needs better systems yes. But most decent hospitals, especially ERs, will do their job 100%.

@@jjbobson3671 Of course realistically he doesn’t actually have to pay it because the hospital can’t force you to pay it’s part of the Hippocratic oath above all else do no harm they have to help with her they like it or not
In a real hospital in America this guy would only have one doctor at his side likely not for very long. In real life in America this man would have been dead. The cost wouldn’t be on his mind.
Who else loves these house MD clips 😂 love house and chase
I live off tv clips of cops and med shows..
Well judging by this being the comment section of a House clip I'd say most people here like it.
3 AM *okay just another and I sleep*
By the way I watched House during its prime. It's funny but I feel the show got better with age, that or our current shows are just utter garbage.
@@amauriherrera6022 House is very gritty, with his dark sarcastic personality but gets lithe job done in the end. Perhaps in part it's the life long injury and maybe ongoing pain.
Doctors going to go forensic investigation not one but twice .... that's got to be some monster insurance cover
To be fair, this is a diagnostic/teaching hospital, most of their money doesn't really come from insurance but tuition and donations. They deliberately take on the toughest of the tough cases and likely pro bono for both the teaching experience and advertisement. So they're likely similar to St. Jude's Hospitals in nature.
Also...Hollywood drama.

John Wick : Hold my dog.

I'd love hear Hugh do these scenes in his old jeeves and Worcester accent
You can see at 0:59 both chase and foreman smirking. I think that was genuine and not scripted
What are the odds I get a lord of the rings kitkat advert after houses talks about frodo and the hobbits😂😂

You know people be used to house’s antics when the first comment isn’t that he brought a fucking sword into the ER
6:30 - Ah our good doctor is coming back to his roots. Well done Dr. House... Or shall I say George?
House truly seemed to be enjoying making these renaissance jokes and using that sword
For four entire seasons, Taub has given me a vibe that he doesn't want to be there. And he's resentful. If you watch all those seasons, you'll see it.
His whole back story is exactly why he doesn't want to be there
He loved being a plastic surgeon. But he ruined it by having an affair with one of his nurses or someone and the practice found out. They said they wouldn’t report it if he quit and promised to never practice plastic surgery again. Working with house was second best. Hence his attitude. He needs a pay check. He’s there to do his job and stop caring when the clock is out.
@@eerielconstantine5051 This is BS, he actually went back to plastic surgery for a little bit but it didn't give him the same fulfillment as working with house.

I experience tachycardia all the time. You don’t need to shock him back into rhythm. You just need to lay him flat and have him take a couple deep breaths.
Do you have tachycardia even while resting? That's not very normal, have you ever seen a cardiologist?
As it was explained to me, tachycardia just mean fast heart rate. Ventricular tachycardia is the kind they shock because it’s unsustainable, with the lower part of the heart beating faster than the top. They have to shock it to get the halves of the heart beating together again.
Sinus tachycardia can be caused by just exercise, excitement, whatever gets your heart rate up. Fast heartbeat, but the halves of the heart are still beating in sync. And that doesn’t have to be shocked because, like you said, it can naturally go back down.
they may have meant vtach

on 0:29 to 0:31 you can see that when house slashes the head anatomy model, it is knocked over after the slash. But in the next shot it is shown standing upright as if it was a proper clean cut.
He got the security guards to open the door for him.

I don’t remember them ever talking about cost for houses services. Considering he’s the head of a department, and he has tons of extremely credentialed specialists working for him in place of what nurses and techs usually do, I cannot imagine his services are very cheap.
They lose money on his department. The point is he's on the cutting edge, and he's part of research as well.
Key word, clinic! House works for a clinic.
They lose money on houses department but they get grant money I’m sure and any losses they write off as charity care and get tax breaks on it

My Grandmother used to tell a story about two boys skipping school (when she was a kid too). Decided to go swim in the river. Decided they were hungry and pulled up some wild carrots to eat.
Her father came upon them, sick as he**, unhitched the wagon and left it behind, held the boys somehow and drove home as fast as he could. She said iit was the only time she'd ever seen him whip the horses. One of the kids in their family took off another horse to get the doctor, but by the time he got there the boys were dead.
