I don't think that someone other than Hugh could play House.
Not the House he turned into, but I believe that another actor could have played the role of "Gregory House", but the character would not end up the same character.
There might be a parallel universe where the two of us are discussing how we can't imagine anyone but Robert Downey Jr. as House and Hugh Laurie as Sherlock Holmes. The versions of us wouldn't be able to see the versions of the characters fro our universe, just like we can't imagine their versions.

At least I could tell what he was saying once I saw the subtitles, there have been other movies where I still can’t tell what the actors are saying even after I read the subtitle
Hugh is British, how he pronounced every word without showing any accent is amazing.
Even in Bloopers he remains in English even after the camera stops. Never reverts back to British language.

In the spirit of House M.D. I feel the need to point out that it is called acting.
From Hugh’s perspective, his role as House meant always speaking with an American accent. It was what he was paid to do.

that is the premise of the show, yes. they're the diagnostic team. they take cases that other doctors couldn't easily diagnose.

Really is a shame, but unfortunately due to japans population problems and heavy immigration from the countryside to the city's, it's not an uncommon problem for multi generational businesses (though Kōngo closed due to debt).

Kongō Gumi is a real Japanese construction company that really was founded in 578 AD. But it didn't go out of business, it was bought by another company.

The Mandarin House spoke wasnt half-bad. Most westerners can pronounce it fine, but they struggle with the four tones of syllables in Chinese. He got the tones (mostly) right, which is difficult as hell.
Hugh Laurie is a polymath. He's often overshadowed by the incredible intellect that is Stephen Fry but he is a legend in his own right intellectually

The guy is crazy to think he is moving his company. He will close down US operations and lay off all workers. Sell the production equipment and remaining inventory. Effectively he's completely cashing out. Then open up new facilities in China with Chinese employees. Yet somehow he thinks he this is a move. He's starting a new business in another country under the same name.
Love business ethics thrown in with my medical ethics. You’re not wrong , however. Lots of nice sounding terms for horrible actions. Reducing headcount and offshoring softens the blow I guess.
It’s really good basic level mandarin. “Shenjingbing” typically means “crazy” and is typically used sarcastically by friends. Whilst his Americanized Mandarin is spectacular, the actual mandarin is utilitarian at best. Not to discredit his ability, however it’s not the best way to say it. He’s a genius, he just needs a better native speaker to write the script. The attention to detail is fantastic though. Not only did he speak mandarin, the referenced Cebu (a Filipino city) is great writing.

Formen is the best replacement for cuddy. His position was perfect for him. Sad it ended the way it did.

I have an adult son who is on the autism spectrum. He’s very gifted, but like Dr. House, had very little empathy for others. My son even looks like Hugh Laurie!
My boy, met a woman who teaches special needs children. She understands him. They have been married for 12 years now (no kids). He has changed so much for the better because of my daughter in law. He’s quite eccentric still but much more caring because of his wife. Dr. House ‘s character made me chuckle at times, yep, I was even sympathetic because the character , just like my son, couldn’t help it. Sometimes the ones we love the most are the most difficult to deal with. Hugh Laurie was great in this role.

You know, I don't know Cantonese, but I am a little bit familiar with Mandarin. It may just be his pronunciation, but House sounds like he's speak Cantonese more than Mandarin. I could be wrong, and it wouldn't be the first time.

@@boydmccollum692 He first said: "他們 about 精神疾病看得很嚴重。". Normally it is pronounced tāmen about jīngshénjíbìng kàn dehěn yánzhòng (yes, mixing a super basic English word into a Chinese sentence!). He pronounces it as: Tam55 about zing33shen55 ji33bin22 kan33 de33 hen3 yan33 zhung22. The meaning is "They regard mental illness as something very serious.", while his intended meaning is "They look down on mental illness". Then the other guy says 你說中問 (You say middle question) instead of 你會說中文啊？ (wow, you speak Chinese?!). Then house says: 在那裡它是大禁，足以摧毀你的道理人的生意 , which means "over there it is a huge taboo, enough to destroy the business of a reason-person". Nobody knows what he means with reason-person. By the way, it took me minutes to guess that he meant 足以 . I could only guess it because of the translation. House doesn't even distinguish zu and zhu. That can be fine if you are Chinese and your tones are perfect, but without tones, not distinguishing z and zh makes everything even messier. About the "reasonable person". He probably wanted to say something like 利益很大的 or 大利潤的 .
Then house continue rambling even more incoherent nonsense in Chinese. He says: 我從來都不會破毀秘密，但是 ... , which means "I never break secrets, but ... ". Of course all his tones are off, and instead of 但是 (but), he says 單西 (single west). One can only understand what he says together with the translation and while paying a lot of attention. No Chinese would ever expect someone to pronounce SHI as XI. I can guarantee you that the actor playing house has not learned Chinese a single time. Even one lesson would be enough to avoid these mistakes.

I loved Adams and Park as characters, they were such a fun addition to the cast, I'd say that for the fact they only had one season for them they're were quite fleshed out
Come on guys, wtf is wrong with them for u people? The whole episodic nature of this show is that they're debating amongst themselves about the ethics and the morality of the situations that we see, for that end Park and Adams did their role perfectly, they were consistent and in character, Park was likeable overall and Adams brought common sense to the discussions most of the time, she also wasn't afraid of standing up to House if she disagreed, like when House clogs the toilet and destroys the MRI, what's there not to like on these characters? I don't get u guys

Park actress sucked. Throw a wig and an XL lab coat on me and I’d do a better job in the part. Adams actress is slightly better which is saying nothing. She didn’t take away from the scenes like Park, but she also didn’t add anything really.
Kinda sad how they replace all the good actor’s except foreman no offense to the current ones but I’m just saying seasons 1-4 prolly the best
