Those Dayton Audio HO 10's are sleeper gems. I built a ported enclosure for one of them with Bash 300 watt plate amplifier for my living room. It hits slo clean and gets low with no effort. They sound way bigger than they are.
A tip to keep the surrounds on the speakers from dry rotting use tire dressing it will also make them look great. I've had the same home speakers for 30 years and still look new
I think if I remember right this may have been the intro to my affiliation to exo wayyy back in the day. I like to say I’m a day 1er but I came in a little bit in. But still feels good to be a part of the community after all these years!
OMG dude no way ! those speakers ,when u build them first that was why i followed u and now u bring them up again amazing to see them still bussing!!!!! i love that !
awesome upgrade! If you want to help prevent stuff from shaking off the shelves get yourself a little museum putty for each item. It'll stick them down without damaging them and they wont budge!
@exo you need to make yourself a work bench with your routor mounted in it. youll have a whole new world of ease been watching you for years still love seeing the notification when a new videos out 😁😁
Heck yea exoooo! I actually got started into this whole audio game with a super cheap garage sale speaker setup! 4 speakers for 4 dollars. We was rattling the walls at our moms house in middle school. Love the vids exo! Keep it up🔥🔥
Exo, the hotspot for base is not because of the corner but because of the further. The tower is across the living room, so it fits the next lower wavelength (we can google tables for hz vs ft). And I just loved those Daytons. Regards from Mexico.
My guess is the glass on the door making it more extreme in that corner. I have the same situation with the home theater system I built in my house. Right by the glass door is the best spot in the house. I love it man keep it up!
Awesome!!! I was into Car 🚙 Audio all of the 90’s and still have some of my collection but have switched over to HT and have been doing these types of Hybrid systems and continue to love creating!!
I only have 2 Dayton Audio references 10’s on 1000 watts with 4 Dayton Audio Bookshelf speakers in my bedroom. Could only imagine 4!!! lol well done Brother.
I had made some quality speaker pods for a motorcycle I use to have. I took out the cheap paper cone speakers and upgraded to Daytons. Sound quality went way up and could turn it up a little more. Was worth the trouble
I remember you building that tower. One thing that can be happening is the cancelation effect of the waves bouncing off walls and meeting and lower volume. I was running 2 15s and 4 12s in my loving room. And I ended up turning off the 4 12s and it was louder with just the 2 15s going. I also put the powered subs in the corners of the room
yeah a room can do that to certain frequencies. Always nice to have a reverse phase switch on both pairs. I use a digital mixer and can delay and/or flip phase on any mix output. Can always bump up the canceling frequency too. but slightly delaying one side or flipping phase will definitely change the character of how the bass is perceived in the ideal listening location. The most obvious way to change the bass characteristics is positioning, but since it it tied to your tops the position makes sense for everything above 80hz. Another option for a future design could be to mount the subs on the sides of cabinet 90º off phase or literally behind and out of phase 180º with front firing speakers and a switch to flip to 0º. Bass in big rooms is hard. I do this for a living with PA systems for concerts and all types of events. There is also simulated visualizing software for visualizing the evenness of all frequencies with realtime RTA. Look up SMAART by Rational Acoustics. Cheers bro!
Dayton audio is a great brand ! my cousin had 4 12's in his car for so many years and that woofer dose a great bang for the buck i think it is the best way to go for home audio!
Great update yo! glad to see another video on these ! I did this same trick on my boat . used Parts Express 10" max-x. Built rings just like this . went from BarleyBumpin to FiberglassShakin LOL
I had some GRS speakers that made a nice scrapy noise past a certain level of excursion. When i took them apart i found the bottom of the former had collapsed and bent a bit from bumping back plate. Coil was good
hey exo, fun fact making your own unique ai covers of songs using your voice or someone elses with permission will not void the copyright claims issue. therefor u can use just about anything
time to second skin the knick knacks and put some metal bars behind your drywall. Fellow home shaker here... running 1900rms into a 13cuft ported sonotube and 15" sub....
I use a single ref 10 in a beefy ported box and its awesome. It hits low with authority. Powered with 950 watts. I bought 4 woofers and the single one sounds f ing great on its own and any more would be too much for the room
When you are measuring the db, what weighting are you measuring in, a, b, or c weighting. Also it’s normal for a lot of rooms to get slot more bass in a corner like that.
The bass is loudest there in the corner cause of loading and wave sizes. Same principles as your van build. If you want the loudest bass put your woofers where you sit for movies. Then run the meter around the room to find the peak pressure zone. Where it’s loudest is where your subs go for optimal efficiency and sound. A lot of science in home audio. My towers are more bass heavy than my subwoofer itself. Go klipsh lol. We need a doggie video!!!!
3:07 You should make your self some dust covers for them. I would always prefer to have them just because cleaning them are much easier and I do not have to worry about dust building up on the speakers themselves.
Crown XLI AMPS? Excellent choice for serious power on a lower budget! Id implore you to rethink the cabinet design however; Start with one sub on top, then 2 midbass drivers. In the middle put your MTM setup, follow that with the other 2 midbass drivers below and end with the 2nd sub on bottom. Look up Dunlavy/Duntech speakers to get a better idea of what I mean.
Regarding the lower SPL on higher frequency: i swapped the 2x 12" Sony 400 Watt Subs i have at work in the office under my desk with 2x 12" 1500 Watt Deaf Bonce with much larger surrounds, gave them more than double the power than they had before and it really is less violent on the higher ends. It is more violent on the lower ends though, but the boxes i have them in are half the recommended volume according to the sub's manual, despite that it is a lot more air movement and rattling literally everything in the room! Lol.
The WHOLE HOUSE is shaking!!!
Time to build a bass bunker 🤣
yo, i got 4 12" in my room 1 jbl 1220b and a magnat bs30 , magnat 3000 or sum idk
also try sealing them and see what happens on the lows then
That back corner in the living room is kinda wild🤪 love the towers Bruce they sound amazing!!
how bout surrounds?
Don't forget to vacuum, so Elise doesn't get mad at you😂😂
Tinsel leads smacking the cone, my favorite flavor
It’s amazing when you update with a better built driver it just shows you that quality counts in every form with all kinds of audio.
Those are great subs
Those Dayton Audio HO 10's are sleeper gems. I built a ported enclosure for one of them with Bash 300 watt plate amplifier for my living room. It hits slo clean and gets low with no effort. They sound way bigger than they are.
Sweet u know its a good day when exo uploads
I love that little cast iron stove.
A tip to keep the surrounds on the speakers from dry rotting use tire dressing it will also make them look great. I've had the same home speakers for 30 years and still look new
I have a forty year old speaker and no I didn't use that.
But yes it does work
@@tbcmusicofficialit depends on what the cone is made from tire dressing can rot some cones out
you mean the "tire black"?
Don't do this
Inspiration at its finest. My new home deserves a new sound.
30 sec into the vid and i already know that its gonna be a great video! those dayton reference drivers are really nice
Been rocking with you for 16years. Good to see you friend .🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊

Amazing to see exo still has these, even during Frankenstein episodes. Cant believe its been 10 years already.
I just know at some point EXO is jumping into a full on home cinema build, can't wait!
Yeah I’m kinda opposite to him in my love is home audio surround sound then car audio next.
EXO, first time comment after years of watching... You, your content, and editing skills are addicting brother, keep doin what you're doin 👍
That HK receiver has always been my favorite looking
@exo you need to make yourself a work bench with your routor mounted in it. youll have a whole new world of ease
been watching you for years still love seeing the notification when a new videos out 😁😁
I had two of those 10" reference subs in my room a while back, can confirm it will make the house liquid! Custom box with a single 8" round port.
Heck yea exoooo! I actually got started into this whole audio game with a super cheap garage sale speaker setup! 4 speakers for 4 dollars. We was rattling the walls at our moms house in middle school. Love the vids exo! Keep it up🔥🔥
Absolutely incredible! Made a huge difference. Big fan of home audio as well. Such a great setup!
Exo, the hotspot for base is not because of the corner but because of the further. The tower is across the living room, so it fits the next lower wavelength (we can google tables for hz vs ft). And I just loved those Daytons. Regards from Mexico.
Dayton Audio is my go-to brand for home audio and car audio. Love all their products. Nice work with the new subs EXO!! 💪🔥
My guess is the glass on the door making it more extreme in that corner. I have the same situation with the home theater system I built in my house. Right by the glass door is the best spot in the house. I love it man keep it up!
The paintings need sound deadening!!😂😂
omg i remember watching the original build video for these towers when it was just out
Awesome!!!
I was into Car 🚙 Audio all of the 90’s and still have some of my collection but have switched over to HT and have been doing these types of Hybrid systems and continue to love creating!!
My 5.2 setup in my home is mostly Dayton. Center, towers, subs, and surrounds are Dayton on a Denon receiver
Nice choice. I have one of these in my truck. It's in a sealed box with about 750rms on it. Sounds really good.
I only have 2 Dayton Audio references 10’s on 1000 watts with 4 Dayton Audio Bookshelf speakers in my bedroom. Could only imagine 4!!! lol well done Brother.
These speakers are what made me subscribe to your channel WAAAAY back.
I had made some quality speaker pods for a motorcycle I use to have. I took out the cheap paper cone speakers and upgraded to Daytons. Sound quality went way up and could turn it up a little more. Was worth the trouble
Love that your dropping consistent video's again...
I love how you think outside the box. Awesome job
I have basically done the same swap from a 10" driver that lookedike that into a dayton SQ10, tje difference was stunning
Can you make a video on the amps and how you got the low frequency crossover?
Mr EXO I need details on this setup my house is 😢 crying for this. The Bose can’t hold a candle to this
Now that's what I call,
a really nice upgrade..
I remember you building that tower. One thing that can be happening is the cancelation effect of the waves bouncing off walls and meeting and lower volume. 🔥 Nice! Love your videos man
I just bought four of the 12" versions for my basement home theater. Should destroy everything upstairs.😂😂😂😂
I put these same subs in my truck. 4 10"s in sealed box on 3000 watts. They hit the lows so well.
No kidding. Whatever alien tech they use for those…. They crank under 30
So happy Dayton audio got their heads in the game.
😁😂🤣 EXO IS THE TRUTH!!!
I love your videos, I never get tired of them. Keep up the great work

Toller Lautsprecher!👍
Awesome as always Subwoofer Blippi!
You are Legend.I watching you many years
Bob Marley- Crazy baldhead is the song I use to test baseline. It is so crisp and clean!
Wow fantastic sound speaker ❤
Dayton audio is a great brand ! my cousin had 4 12's in his car for so many years and that woofer dose a great bang for the buck i think it is the best way to go for home audio!

I did this same trick on my boat . used Parts Express 10" max-x.
Built rings just like this . went from BarleyBumpin to FiberglassShakin LOL
Awesome project Bruce
😊
Nice choice -> I Build a 4x dual 10Inch subs with the same drivers (no car subs) And they work like a charm and I love the sound :).
Awesome. I have always been a vega 3 way . 12s and 15s for home audio.
At least the bit didn't slip out and go into your sub. Good skills on that jigsaw.
Those baskets and markets on the Dayton woofers look a lot like the old school Fosgate Power series woofers.
I had some GRS speakers that made a nice scrapy noise past a certain level of excursion. When i took them apart i found the bottom of the former had collapsed and bent a bit from bumping back plate. Coil was good
Great 👍 I really need to make my own
I've been watching your videos for a while now. I've always been curious about what Amp you use to power your home audio speakers 🔊!!!
Much love, respect and appreciation for you brother
Man's still using a jigsaw EVEN THOUGH HE HAS A ROUTER 😂
Surprisingly skilled cuts with that jigsaw. I would have needed the router.
hey exo, fun fact making your own unique ai covers of songs using your voice or someone elses with permission will not void the copyright claims issue. therefor u can use just about anything
Love it! Can I ask how are you powering the towers????
With the last video you had with these there was one test song you danced to THAT I COULD NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME TRACK DOWN!!!!!!!!
😆
time to second skin the knick knacks and put some metal bars behind your drywall. Fellow home shaker here... running 1900rms into a 13cuft ported sonotube and 15" sub....
What are you using to drive these bad boys? Equipment list please. Great video!
What are you powering those with?
Pretty aweaome there Exo. Gives an idea on how to do mine here lol.
The angle from the dangle still looking for my t-shirt✌️
Cool swap, nicely done! The Dayton Designer Series have the exact same basket and magnet as the SKAR DDX Series, but SKAR's are cheaper.
Love it nice work. I wanna build a set of big full range towers
Dayton audio is no bullshit brand, love it 🤙
Does not matter that they are 10" subs , they will still kick !!
I use a single ref 10 in a beefy ported box and its awesome. It hits low with authority. Powered with 950 watts. I bought 4 woofers and the single one sounds f ing great on its own and any more would be too much for the room
Damn those subs are really good!
Well done 😎👍

Great job on content 🎉
😊 Great Job Friends 😊
When making deep or through-cuts with the router, do it in a few passes, rather than one pass to prevent dulling bits and burning the wood.
Will someone PLEASE get this man a jasper jig ffs!!
I love the intro so much 😂😂👍👍👍👍👍
Tip. Look how JR Research finishes the inner parts of a speaker cabinet. You wil get much beter sound.
10 out of 10 what receiver are you using
3:07 You should make your self some dust covers for them. I would always prefer to have them just because cleaning them are much easier and I do not have to worry about dust building up on the speakers themselves.

I miss doing stuff like this.
Any chance for a blueprint of the boxes? i would love to recreate this and see how they actually sound
now we talking this is what i like :D

Nice it's very loud SWEET 👍
Yuh issa boss🔊🔊🔊🔊🎶🎶🎶💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
I’ve not looked yet? But do you have a suggestion on power supply to push these in house?
Any hifi amp.i use the old pioneer.good used on ebay
Can’t believe it’s been 10 years bro
