- Inside the Luthier's Shop with BigDGuitars.com - A lot of back and forth on the Kevin Bond neck with the Angelus Leather Dyes. We probably shouldn't have gone with the English tan first but I am happy with the way this turned out. Purchase the dyes here: angelusdirect....
I would have left it alone after the first pass ! It looked awesome at that point to me.
I Don't Think You Could Find A Better Looking Neck Anywhere.. Just Awesome Craftmanship. 🎸
Absolutely stunning
Absolutely Beautiful!!!
That neck looks sooo good
can you go over the angelus dye after it dries for 24-48 hours directly with the Tru Oil, or do you put a sanding sealer or something down first??
Great job D,
Lovely. So were you ever concerned about the black marker dots and whether sanding would become an issue for them?
How to kill the paint job by playing too much with it unnecessarily.
The end result is great though, go look at the other vids. It takes fine tuning to get these things right, it's normal.
I love how the neck 1st came out !! But still sick looking finish !! Nice Derek !! :)
thanks!
A video on how to excessively Waist Materials?
Steve Redenbaugh maybe you should watch videos about homonyms?
Ha!! Good Point. Maybe I was Excessively Overexcited
Looks great! What would you recommend to darken an unfinished roasted maple neck? I ordered one from warmoth and it has a light roasting to it and I would like it to look darker.
add a bit of black, like a light gray that might help a little.
Where do you buy the necks for your works?
HE BUILDS THEM DUDE, HE HAS A TON OF VIDEOS ON NECK BUILDING. UNLESS YOU MEAN WHERE DOES HE GET THE WOOD IN THAT CASE, ANY SPECIALTY OR HARDWOOD LUMBER STORE WILL HAVE TONS OF FIGURED MAPLE, FLAMED, BIRD'S EYE, CURLEY, AND ALL THE REST. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE TOOLS TO MILL ROUGH WOOD OR JUST WANT TO SPEND THE EXTYRA MONEY ON WOOD SIZED AND ROUGH PLAINED FOR INSTRUMENT BUILDING (RIP OFF) YOU CAN SEARCH LUTHIER TONE WOOD FOR SALE AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF SITES OVER CHARGING FOR THERE (TONE WOOD) HAHAHA.
No thats how 2 piece figure maple neck should be fuck a skunk stripe
Off topic: Is that a vintage GMT-Master?
hahaha...
GMT Pepsi is cool :P I have one full black from late '60, my grampa gived it to me, he bought it on a trip when he was youg. Yours still look new anyay!
P.s. Nice vid as usual!
MAN I THOUGHT YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT IT THE WAY IT LOOKED WITH THE FIRST PASS OF COLOR. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN YOU LAYER STAINS THEY END UP GETTING MUDDY. I'VE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME TOO AND I KNOW HOW FRUSTRATING IT IS, I'VE LEARNED TO AS YOU SAID TEST ON TEST BOARD FIRST OR IF IT LOOKS REALLY GOOD EVEN AFTER JUST ONE COAT OF COLOR, TRUST MY EYES AND LEAVE IT. STILL NICE BUILD AS ALWAYS. I KNOW IT'S ALSO HARD WHEN YOU ARE SHOWING THE CLIENT IN PROGRESS PICTURES, I'VE STOPPED DOING THAT BECAUSE IN ALL REALITY THEY ALWAYS OVERTHINK THE MOST SIMPLE THINGS AND END UP MESSING YOUR WORK FLOW UP.
Calm down bud. The end result is great if you watch his other vids.
After watching your videos for a long while now, I think you need to let go of Angelus for a while and just play with Transtint again. You always used to get great results way easier with the Transtint, but seem to be always fighting with the Angelus. Just give it a try.
VERGIL PARRILLO, I AGREE 100%, TRANSTINT ARE A FAR SUPERIOR COLOR. I'VE MESSED WITH ANY AND EVERY OTHER COMPANIES STAINS, DIES, AND TINTS THAT I COULD GET MY HANDS ON AND IN MY OPINION TRANSTINT ARE THE BEST, THEY ARE SUPER DYNAMIC IN THE WAYS YOU CAN OVERLAY LIGFHT WASHES OVER MORE OPAQUE UNDERTONES. DON'T GET ME WRONG THERE ARE A FEW OF THE ANGELUS COLORS THAT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE.
