You make it look EZ. Wanna give it a shot, got the tools and some skills, looks do-able. The tough part will be locating the appropriate lumber, so few, real lumber yards now a days. You need to be somewhat particular about the material and grain structure for best results.
Great work, just phenomenal. I also build guitars and wondered what kind of bearing you used on that diy fretbender. I'm looking for a bearing which has that groove so the crown of the fret can go in there. Hope you can help me out. Keep building (Y)
What you can do instead of finding a bearing with a groove in it is to use 2 bearings instead next to each other ! That will create a "groove" between the two bearings ! =)
Really nice info and woodworking skills. Can you tell me the length of the truss rod you used? Can’t find any info on the correct one to use for a telecaster neck. Thanks for the vid!
John, it looks like you put two staples in, cut them to be just a single pin, then press the fretboard on. I assume this is to keep the fretboard from sliding during clamping. Is that correct? Were you sharpening the "pin" after cutting the staple? Thanks
Hey Bruce ! You are absolutely right on both questions.. I´ve been through the mistake once of gluing the fretbord slightliy off center.. I hope i never have to do that again ! =)
Hi, Markus and thanks for watching ! =) 1. No, never glue a trussrod.. it has to move, otherwise it´s useless :) I am using silicone to keep it in place and from rattling when you play the guitar. 2. I´m using regular TiteBond for the frets.. some don´t use glue at all but.. thats the way i do it =)
No, i guess i didn´t film that :P Not a very big operation though.. i drill it with an 8mm drillbit and shape the hole with a dremel if necessary ! Thanx for watching !
I enjoyed the video, in my builds I have had challenges as the adjustment nut is lower than the face of the headstock so I have to go kinda down and then in...
Awesome job! A couple questions: What is the thickness of the cherry and rosewood pieces? Where do you get the pearl inserts and what is the white stick for the top dots? (really technical jargon, I know) How did you cut the fret slots?
It doesn´t have to be more technical than that actually =) The thickness of the cherry is 20mm and the rosewood is about 8mm. The pearl inserts i used for this one, i am pretty shure of, is ordered från StewMac The "white stick" is actually nothing more than a white plastic stick =) Thanx for watching !
gustaffson, no mostraste como bajaste la pala, no mostraste como encontraste el alma desde la pala, no mostraste la cejilla.... lástima, parecía buen video....te felicito por el resto...
Thanx Pete.. i´ll take that as a compliment then ! I´ll see if i can find it somewhere.. I´ll probably have 2-300 unfinished songs.. dont know whats wrong with me, and why i never seem to be able to finish a song :D
GREAT!! Thanks for showing!
Nice work.
Wow Johan you give me very good ideas for building my proper guitar neck !!!!! Thanks !!!!!!!
Nice ! Glad i could help with that ! Building a neck is often something people are afraid of ! It´s not really that hard ! =)
@@johanguran thanks Johan i suscribe your great channel !!!!

Great video! Where did you get the templates and the premade fretboard?

Great job.
Can you give me the measures?
The master hard at work!
Nice job. So what was the neck width at the nut? and shape overall?
Thanx, sir ! The width at the nut was 43mm and the neck shape is lika a slim C-shape !

Hi. Perfect video!
I have two questions:
1. Did you glue the trussrod in?
2. With which glue did you fix the frets?
Hi, Markus and thanks for watching ! =)

Hey Johan,
thanks for your answer. Yes, I meant the silicon. Than I will give it a try!
Best regards,
Markus
unless I missed it you didn't show how you drilled the trussrod adjustment access on the headstock - how do you do that?
No, i guess i didn´t film that :P Not a very big operation though.. i drill it with an 8mm drillbit and shape the hole with a dremel if necessary !
