This is dream footage for a MRSR fan. I got to travel from NY to Seattle to see some family in 2015 and we were able to make the trek down to ride the train behind 17. Very grateful for you guys for doing your best to bring everything back!
I’m so amazed how this railroad came back after such a long time. Props to everyone who volunteered and helped restore that beautiful steam locomotive!
Turret lines all looking good. Now the dang f-side starter valve is leaking. *Insert Rowdy banging head against wall* Engine sounds good and square. You guys are doing great. Whatcha smoking? I'm a Fuente man myself.
Thank-you so much for showing us a day on the railroad. I appreciate it. It is so wonderful to see the old 70 running and delighting the folks, who love to ride with her. She is the blood of Elbe.
My whole life I’ve wanted to visit the MRSR (I’d have to cross dozens of states to do it!) and thankfully you guys have saved me from having to nail that dream in a coffin. Kudos to all of you and cheers into 2024! (P.S. I hope Rowdy got some stogies for Christmas)
When I retire in 2028, I really hope to volunteer here. I am impressed on how well and quick y'all got up and running this year. Keep up the amazing work and hope to see y'all very soon.
WOW! Thanks so much for putting this up here for us. For many this is as close to a cab ride as we'll ever get. Looking forward to the next time I get to ride with you guys.
70 really is so special. Do you guys have any future plans for the Northern Pacific F9 7012A? I see it in videos but I’m curious whether it is operational or not, as well as an appearance any time soon. The horn on that engine is amazing! Thank you for preserving these beautiful relics
Well done video. You really captured the feel of a working railroad. The music was spot on, especially the first guitar piece, it reminded me of the haunting theme from Twin Peaks. Good job.
1:03 the fog rolling off the trees like a blanket falling from a waking mountain... I had to watch this 3-4 times before I stopped being jealous of that view each morning
@@mtrainierrailMy special needs son really likes Alco diesels he says many people like alco diesel locomotives because they are not as common as other diesels and because they have more character and are built really rugged.
I love this this what I needed after a hard day of work at my my local grocery store thank you guys for uploading. Just wondering what whistle dose 70 have? Thank you ahead of time Jeff aka NW611J.
By the way, I have Cerebral Palsy and use a walker. Never done RailCycle because the motion of bike petals is, not impossible, but difficult. THANK YOU for working on accessibility options. I'd love to come test it out!
It's definitely going to be a work in progress, but we're hoping that with a pedal assist and eventually, a wheelchair accessible cycle that it will be usable for virtually everyone. :)
3 cars is currently our max. We'll have two more on the train sometime next year - with a small parking lot, and only a month or two to get the train ready, we were limited on capacity. The good news is, it keeps our overhead relatively low so we're able to reinvest most of the earnings into infrastructure projects. Right now, keeping things manageable has a lot of advantages for us.
I recall when my fokes and my wife and I road the MRSR the car we were in broke a spring so our ride was cut short the funny thing is that was the year that the spring on there fifth wheel kept braking also so we had a laugh about that.
If your referring to 6:05, (QV64+F67 Park Junction, Washington) it looks like a short siding and a currently abandoned Y. Digging into the history, it looks the railroad expanded out to Ashford by 1905 when Mt Rainer National Park was created (in 1899). However the main freight line still went south to Mineral, and onto Morton. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacoma_Eastern_Railroad#Independent_corporate_control_and_the_Mount_Rainier_National_Park

That time lapse towards the end is just fantastic. Truly amazing to see a beautiful RR like this in the deep woods going strong.

#70 is sounding so much better and running healthier. You don't hear the clanging or banging. Good job on her repair. :
No more clanky bang!

Hello Chris! Another great video, thank you.
I was just there this summer and was so disappointed i couldn't ride the MRSR. So so happy you're all back in the swing of things!!!
Well, there's always next summer.

This is good stuff. I do miss this so much. Still think I could fire #12 up the hill if I had to. Thanks for taking us along.
You guys are awesome, great video. Any chance or plans of opening the line to Morton?

Keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
Quality content!! Loving this so much.
Glad you enjoy it!
Man that teasing at the end showing #5 😂, are you guys gonna make videos showing the work being done on 5 ?
Maaaaaybe...
Only 3 cars today, bummer. I bet ridership will pick up in 2024.

You should that cigar where the sun does not shin
Can you give a grounds tour of the whole complex ? As I noticed the older freight cars
We'll add it to the list.
I noticed a couple of switches and track that goes off to the right. Where does that lead too?

Oh neat. Thanks for the info
How long does it take to fire 70 up? Do you start building pressure the day before?
Yup. Depends a bit on ambient temperatures but always fire up the day before.
Are you running on standred or narrow gage rail.
Standard.
Looks like you took care of your steam leaks off the turret or so it seems
Is it running the last weekend in December?
Not til mid-February! We need a “break” aka to do an entire years worth of maintenance! 🤣
@@mtrainierrail okay
What kind of stoagie you got there?!??
