It is actually less accurate. The round crosses transonic barrier pretty close up 200yards. Keeping it close to subsonic the 22lr is a better distance round.

Outstanding shooting! Just amazing how far things have come in the way of long range. I will say having the right tools is an absolute must. Range finder for unmarked, not predetermined distance is of utmost importance. Wind is your most challenging. Wind at position across 600 to 1200 yards and at target differ at times. This coming from someone who shoots 308 at only 1050 yards regularly at present, (all the distance I can find in these hills, but usually every other day as long as I have components).
That rifle is stunning beautiful... But that Plywood is $$$ and probably blew this video out of budget! Thank you for the financial sacrifice 😂. Great video Eric and Chad!
The rifle, kestrel and the 250 MOA mirror along with all the other goodies involved is pushing $10,000, the rifle alone depending on the accessories is $5-7000 alone, a very expensive video setup.
@@Westbird1 you wouldn’t believe me if I told you what mine cost and it’s not as accessorized as theirs is from the voodoo factory, so why don’t you go online and check out the prices of the voodoo rifles from the bare bones on up, then see if your laughing doesn’t turn into an open mouthed daaaammmnnnn! Do you have any idea how much that MOA devise costs, the kestrel was the cheapest and that model is in the hundreds, if you have an inkling of how much AR 500 is, than you must know that a sheet that big with those feet welded on would be quite expensive, and we still have accessories left to calculate, but trust me, when you check out the voodoo site and the price of their rifle comparably equipped to the Iraq veteran 8888 model, you’ll get it.
That was because a 22 fired into the air at an angle can travel that far and come down with lethal energy. You just can't shoot it that far accurately.
One thing you mentioned at the end of this demo that I liked is seeing how lethal the 22 round was not only for defense..but for safety reasons as well. When we own 11 acres in north Texas, our barn has a small hole in the upper area of the outside wall where a round from the property behind us was shot and made its way all the way through their pasture, our woods and pasture and into the outer wall of our barn. The hole size in the barn was consistant to a 22 caliber. Great video guys!
I've become a 22LR addict. This is a fabulous video. I would never have guessed that this round would go that far, AND PENETRATE! Great video, and great shooting, Chad.
I love your explanation about how super Sonic ammo has more resistance, it made me think of super cars: it takes an entire tank of fuel to move a Bugatti or similar car to Max speed, the air itself is saying “no you must slow down”. Or I can get 40mpg at 55mph, the drag coefficient is determining the energy expended. Very cool.
Very interesting & informative session using my favorite caliber. In my heyday, I shot many woodchucks at up to 200 yds using my "Remington BDL Custom Deluxe" deer rifle in 7mm Rem. Mag., but many more at 100+ yds using my "Marlin 39 Century LTD" lever action carbine w/ octagon barrel. While both rifles were fun & satisfying to shoot, I always more impressed when I got hits using the lowly .22LR.
When I was a boy scout we were target shooting (up against a wooded ridge) and one of the leaders tried to shoot a skeet out of the air with a .22lr and missed. 20 minutes later a forest ranger came into camp with a smashed 22 bullet and informed us that it hit a forest fire watch helicopter on the landing pad. Almost 2 miles away. Bullet can go WAY farther than you might think. Luckily no one got hurt but it definitely left an impression on me.
I remember years ago how the "How far will a 22 kill?" was one of the first IraqVeteran8888 videos I watched. As someone who's never even seen a firearm discharge IRL, it's been interesting to get an insight into someone else's lives where shooting guns is considered to be just a casual hobby.

It was the only rifle ever noted & voted to had won WWII....OH, My score was 193 out of a possible 200. It was @ 200 yards. Plus I'd only shot the rifle once @ some really big rats in a garbage dump. Well ya'll give up? M1-Grand. It was St. Patrick's day March 17, 1970. Their Camp Marine Captain all but threatened to switch over to be in a special marine rifle squad.
Barry would be proud! if a 22 is lethal to 677yds+ imagine how far a .223 can go?
A mile...
40ft?
Max range is 3,600m
At least 7
Math makes that possible to figure out, there a lot of variables though.
@5:40 "Fast hot jacketed ammo" "doesn't help barrel life" XD I'm dying!
That rifle is stunning beautiful... But that Plywood is $$$ and probably blew this video out of budget! Thank you for the financial sacrifice 😂. Great video Eric and Chad!
Only until Biden HARRIS are gone.
Price then will be back to normal.
The rifle, kestrel and the 250 MOA mirror along with all the other goodies involved is pushing $10,000, the rifle alone depending on the accessories is $5-7000 alone, a very expensive video setup.
@@dankmazzi2376 🤣 you really believe that?
Good one.
Berry the gift that keeps on giving. Even after hes gone we're still learning from this dude and that is totally awesome ! We miss you buddy
The old 22 boxes always said deadly to one mile!!
Love this type of shooting. Makes me wonder how far a .17HMR or .17 HMR2 would kill.
The secret service already knows I'll bet you.
Or how far a "human bomb"(midget with dynamite) would kill
I've seen a rabbit get shot at 400 yards with a 17hmr in a video
Yeah i have got to stretch my .17wsm out a little more . I got it out to 350 and ran out of light . But that was months ago .
What a fine conversation.
Well done Boys.
I've become a 22LR addict. This is a fabulous video. I would never have guessed that this round would go that far, AND PENETRATE! Great video, and great shooting, Chad.
I hope there is a part 3! 1000+ yards! AWESOME JOB GUYS!
Nostalgia at its finest ! I still re-watch IV's old vids.
Keep in mind the sound of the impact travels around the same speed back to your ear
Good point. 1100fps is VERY roughly 300 m\s. So 2 seconds to the 600m target and 2 seconds back would match the rough 4 seconds they count
Putting the phone down range to register hits is a great idea!
shot the android phone
When I was a boy scout we were target shooting (up against a wooded ridge) and one of the leaders tried to shoot a skeet out of the air with a .22lr and missed. 20 minutes later a forest ranger came into camp with a smashed 22 bullet and informed us that it hit a forest fire watch helicopter on the landing pad. Almost 2 miles away. Bullet can go WAY farther than you might think. Luckily no one got hurt but it definitely left an impression on me.
Keep doing these .22 videos!! I love em.
I'd love to see them do this with a 17 hmr/17wsm and a 22 mag
Just look at our .223 ELR rifles.
I didn't think I'd really care much about this but it was really interesting! Please continue to walk it out as far as you can, we have to know!
.22's have always been fun. I have owned several rifles over the years and the first gun i have ever fires was a 22 .
I remember years ago how the "How far will a 22 kill?" was one of the first IraqVeteran8888 videos I watched. As someone who's never even seen a firearm discharge IRL, it's been interesting to get an insight into someone else's lives where shooting guns is considered to be just a casual hobby.
Where are you from?
Dude where do you live?
Sweden (Europe). We have firearms here as well but it's definitively not as open or common as in the US.
@@fredrikbystrom7380 so what are the firearm laws like in Sweden? Are guns like ARs and AKs banned or legal? Not tryna be pushy but different countries gun laws interest me
Come out to America, you can shoot on my range till you cant load magazines from exhaustion
Awesome, thanks for the tips… I am currently at two extremes shooting .338 LM at 3.2km and air rifles to 200m
I bet the plywood cost more than the 22 😂
I got several sheets of plywood that I be willing to trade for that rifle.
@@eddyflo2978 😂😂
For the setup! I'll go purchase a few sheet's right now!😂😂
Enjoyed the video.I honestly did not think the normal 22 caliber round would have that much impact and penetration. Would like to have seen a few of the higher power rounds Such as the mini mags shot to compare accuracy and penetration. Excellent video. You guys rock.
OUTSTANDING!! So quiet with that suppressor! The sound of the bullet traveling was louder than the actual shot!!!😎
it normally is.. with a supressor
@@James28R Maybe 22 LR. But you definitely hear the crack with anything bigger. Just sayin.
@@americanpatriot6918 standard velocity .22 lr out of a long rifle barrel is super quiet even without a suppressor.
@@maximilianmustermann5763 I know I have a 22 inch barrel 22lr. But it's not bb gun quiet like this!
Such a SWEET .22LR. You guys do awesome content. I've been watching since your beginnings
You know you're dealing with a high end rig when you've never heard of any of the manufacturers.
Looks like an assassin only had a .22 to complete his mission!
I definitely had one of those same "oh my" moments
Good job guys, I've been hunting wit 22 cal. Ammo since 1958. It aided in my breaking the Camp Pentaltum,( I've probably misspelle it) in California. It's the Marine qualifying range to qualify all marines, & Sailors in boot camp. Guess you younger guys couldn't guess what gun/rifle I broke the record. Later I found out I would've been a sniper in the Vietnam swamps. Thank goodness I stayed in the Naval Avionics Technician school too. Never had to carry any weapon, & ended up on 6 Navy aircraft carriers. I still deer hunt, go deep sea, & spear fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. I'm gonna tell some of my buddies in our hunting club in Prattville, Alabama about you & site also. I'm 71 years old, by the way. & still healthy cuz I stayed away from the drugs, & becoming an alcoholic too. I'm known as Buggyman Dave. I drilled concrete slabs for termites till 68 years old.

awesome video as always, great information and great entertainment. as an airgun shooter i love seeing this kind of thing, showing the safety side of things as well, most drastically underestimate small caliber cartridges!
Chad: hits target high center
Eric: bottom right
Me: 🤦🏽♂️
He can blame it on the heat. 😂
Who asked
I caught that
@@strv103b2. Your mom
Again, I appreciate the information about the .22. Now, my 16.5 inch barrel on my AR-15-22 isn’t going to carry that far, but for its purpose and expected range, it will do the job. Very impressive shooting and presentation.
Now we're talking. Good stuff guys!!
Yes
Great video
Great stuff
Much love to you guys. Appreciate everything you do
Wonderful to see how far what a .22 LR will do thumbs up and shared.
I love how I watched this channel religiously for a while before and after berry and unfortunately I haven’t been able to watch as much the last few years butI click on a video and see clips of berry that’s awesome!!
I would really love to see a "Best of Barry" playlist for the channel, would be a nice tribute.
The confidence of that “impact” was 20% lol
Narration of my pull out game.

Chad's a damn good shooter.
That is a long haul for a 22 damn. Keep up the good work you Two
I remember being 11 and watching how far will .22 kill part 1

thats awesome man.
4:26 : 1/2" thick pine board penetration = standard for potentially lethal wound.
I was looking for this, and did not have time to watch the whole intro the first time.
That rifle is an incredible piece of engineering.
Excellent job as far as your search for the answer! Well presented.
The #1 question is what cost the most $. The gun, ammo or the wood?
Definitely the gun and optic setup lol.. I'm betting it's close to 10k
@@savage101. 10k? Lol in some countries like south africa it would cost more than 10k.
Great collab with Ian, Eric. Great camera work Chad.
Love the ballistic sciences, applies to all shooting, all calibers and cartridges. Thx.
That makes sense.
Throw a bb at plywood at hard as you can.
Throw a hammer at plywood at hard as you can.
A larger heavier object doesn't need to move as fast to do considerable damage, where is a smaller lighter object needs to trade off by moving faster.
Nooooooo, now all the Fudds are gonna come back out about how its the deadliest round ever...........

Always heard it was the caliber, thus including the .223.
just as many fudds say its an absolutely useless round too.

Man... the time passes...
Shows how dangerous it is shooting at that bird in the tree without a solid backround might want to think twice before doing that.
Thank you very much. Very informative and the gear discussion is very important. Also, great background on why to use slower projectiles
I particularly like this manner of testing. Having viewed several of your "Lethal Impact" videos I have a much better 'feel' for the usability of various cartridges. Thanks for your effort.
I heard the bugs going and didn’t know wether it’s my bugs or yours. Considering we share a state it was the same thing with it without headphones
Not sure why I'm skeptical of the 1/2" ply.. ? Great video.. 👍
I wish I could have access to a range like that. Would really like to see how accurate I am at 400+ with my budget ar
From past experience back in the late '70s early '80s most all my friends WOULDN'T DREAM of shooting at a deer even with a high-powered rifle & scope further than
100 -150 yards
That said I've taking deer out to a 1,000 yds more than once and GROUNDHOGS /COYOTES @ 7-800 yards
With multiple calibers and or rifles ranging from 243 up to 300 WINCHESTER SHORT MAG
All of that said and considering myself a VERY GOOD SHOT that 22 RIG is TREMENDOUS as for myself I've taken GROUNDHOGS /COYOTE at 250+ yds with my Ruger 10/22 with a straight 4-power scope and thought I'd done something thought wrong I guess love the video
My 22 shorts came with a warning of up to one mile range. The long rifle came with a 2 mile warning.
I love shooting my custom 10/22 out to range with BBM 40 grain LRN .22lr. I understand exactly what Chad means by that satisfying sound of rounds impacting the target. Using the Long Shot Target Cam (bought bundled with a Labradar Doppler Chrono) its even more satisfying. My "custom" 10/22 was built by me and I only shoot for fun, and that 10/22 is my favorite rifle in my safe.
Absolute awesome video. I’d like to see what you could do with a Ruger precision bolt action rifle chambered in 22 LR or a Ruger 1022 that has been accurized.
Eric, Barry thanks for this video, it was right on time. I wish I could buy you guys an adult beverage and just shoot the sh!t. I especially love your collaborations with other channels Mark Novak being one of my favorites. You were the first channel I supported on Patreon and Marks is only my second. Thanks again and God Bless, from a fellow Veteran
So we're saying a .22 may be useful for the Zombie Apocalypse?
For distances you’d shoot in a city a suppressed .22 with a LPVO would be ideal along with a suppressed handgun and knife.
