A few years later, when Hamilton died, she went mad and she still played the songs on the piano that she sang with her father. Eliza would’ve been proud. She used the rest of her life to tell Alexander’s story. She could’ve despised him after what he did but she didn’t. She kept his story alive. She did everything in her power. She was a strong woman.
She would also probably be disappointed that the Government did away with the orphanage. But proud that she kept her husband's memory alive and that his story is being told.
We need more people like Eliza. She was so very loyal, and forgiving. She could have shunned Alexander, she could have left him after what he did with Maria. But she forgave him. She established a orphanage, she told their stories. We should tell hers
Death The Kid He was saying that Washington died before hamilton and I said that’s not the point because I was trying to make a joke and then I guess he just deleted the comment
Actually, no one dies "from memory loss," but maybe she was suffering form some form of dementia toward the end and she died from something else, like a heart attack.
If Eliza could only see what Hamilton’s life has become.. one of the most famous and loved musicals of all. She’s such a brave and inspirational woman.. the kindest of all.
Angelica, in Congratulations, yelled at him... "Never lose sight of the fact that you have been blessed with the best wife!" And in his dying hours, he wrote... "Best of wives and best of women...." Which means, right up to his dying moments, he truly never forgot what Eliza was to him. Ow.
Who Lives: Aaron Burr Who dies: John Laurens Who tells your story: Elizabeth Hamilton edit: note that this monolouge is directed to Alexander. notice the "your" in "who tells _your_ story" that's why he's not the one who dies, my mistake
Angelica's line on Eliza is so genuinely true "You will never find anyone as trusting or as kind" she suffered a lot and even suffered from memory loss but despite that she still remembered her husband and kept his legacy alive
At the end of who live who dies who tells your story Eliza gasps at the audience and the light go out, *it stands as Eliza realizes that everyone in the audience came for her husband's legacy. To see his story, and realizes that she did do enough. They told his story*
I saw someone on Tumblr say that with "the lord in his kindness he gives me what you've always wanted, he gives me more time" she doesn't mean that she got the time Hamilton always wanted for himself but what he always wanted for HER
Well actually after he was shot, he died the day after the duel.. So He would have definitely had more to say to Eliza. And the letter at the beginning of this song was the last letter he wrote to Eliza.
There are many more, like Alexander. Many, that did big things, and they were still forgotten. I hate that. Why we forget about people, that should be remembered? I'm from Europe, but it still hurts, that these special people were forgotten. But in the same time, this musical is telling their story ❤️
That would be Enough: "Let me be a part of the narrative" First Burn: "I'm Erasing myself From the Narrative" Who lives, who dies, who tells your story: "I'm putting myself back into the narrative."
People keep going on about how Eliza spent her entire life trying to share Alexander's story that she didn't get to write her own. Little do you know, Eliza wrote her own story while telling Alexander's. Think about it, she raised funds for the Washington Monument, she spoke out against slavery, and opened the first private orphanage in New York, she was the living example of kindness and selflessness. So many things that are around today started with Eliza. You can't tell me Eliza didn't write her own story.
That's half true. In telling Alexander's story she tells her own story in parts, too. However, she was never a main character in his story, which means she was never someone discussed to the degree of Washington and such. As a result, we don't even know how she reacted to the scandal. We know she forgave him, but the idea that her initial reaction was to burn all the letters and get angry is just a theory because to this day her letters with Hamilton have not been found. It's theorised that she burnt them, but it has never been confirmed. So we don't know a lot about her, except from the little told about her in relation to Alexander's life and the accounts of others. Her story as an individual was never told like with Hamilton and such. The same goes for Angelica, though a lot is said about her.
I can't even imagine just how much she cared for him. I'm sure it was slightly exaggerated for the sake of the song but she worked so hard to make sure her love wasn't forgotten and I think that is a level of love not everyone reaches
I love how when Eliza says, “ I interviewed every soldier who fought by your side.” Herc and Laff say, “ we tell your story.” And then Alex looks at John starts to cry and hugs him. It’s so amazing that the small detail of him hugging John just adds something.

Eliza is my idol out of everybody in history. She not only opened the first ever private orphanage in new York City, but also spoke out against slavery and told Alexander's story. Now I'm gonna like my own comment.
For those who wanted to read the letter by itself: My very dear, Eliza. This letter will not be delivered to you, unless I shall first have terminated my earthly career to begin a happy immortality. I need not tell you of the pangs I feel from the idea of quitting you and exposing you to the anguish, which I know you would feel. Nor could I dwell on the topic lest it should unman me. This letter, my very dear Eliza, will not be delivered to you, unless I shall first have terminated my earthly career; to begin, as I humbly hope from redeeming grace and divine mercy, a happy immortality. If it had been possible for me to have avoided the interview, my love for you and my precious children would have been alone a decisive motive. But it was not possible, without sacrifices which would have rendered me unworthy of your esteem. She grew up in a wealthy family but she didn't care about money, she cared about doing the right thing. She could have just done nothing but insted she established an orphanage and i bet you she treated those kids as her own. She took care of them and gave the kids a home. She had money but she used it for good. She also spoke out aganist slavey. She decaded her time to being a good person and she stayed stong though everything in her life from Alex cheating on her to losing her friends and family and watching them die. She is an idol and role model R.I.P Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton Edit: in a way she did what John Laurens would have wanted
All Eliza wanted was for people to tell their story and the fact that she was almost forgotten from history bothers me. If it wasn’t for Lin I don’t think many people would care for Hamilton and what he did for us. America wouldn’t be the same if it weren’t for Hamilton
Well the Louisiana bought from France was far bigger then the State of Louisiana (even reaches a little bit into Canada) but it did include Louisiana (state)
Eliza : take a break! Alex: no Angelica: take a break! Alex: no Phillip: please? Alex: no Maria: stay here and cheat on your wife Alex: I am in capable of saying the English version of the word "no"
When she said "have I done enough?" I sobbed so hard. Eliza, you have done more than enough. Even though your husband cheated on you, you stayed strong and dedicated a lot of time to making sure his final wish comes true. We will always remember Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schyler Hamilton. R.I.P. 😭
I love how after hamilton died Eliza spent the rest of her life trying to make people remember him,and ya know how at the end eliza gasps? Well the person that takes her hand at the end of the musical was not hamilton it was supposed to be lin trying to show eliza that he had told their story, So happy am I right?
Literally, the first second got me hard. I realized that Angie Hamilton wasn’t showing any emotions, just confusion. Due to her mental breakdown from Pip’s death. *gross sobbing*
I like this version the most because it sounds like there's more emotion while singing it and that's one of the true elements for a good song. If there's emotion you know there was actual love put into singing it
I like this video better than the stage production to be honest. Showing all the accomplishments she did, showing Alexander reunited with his friends and son, then Eliza reunited with all of them...darn it!!!! Here come the tears again!!!!
Even after Alexander died, Eliza never married another man. That makes her loyal, she loved Alexander. And forgave him even after the affair. She stood by his side always. She will be missed. Our amazing Eliza.
Can we take a minute to appreciate Eliza? She fell for Alex, got heart broken, her son died, her sisters died, her husband died. She still loved him and helped him even after the affair. She told Alex’s story and made an orphanage in memory of Alex. She spoke against slavery, talked with Alex soldiers, and gave funds to DC. As Hamilton says, “Best of wife’s, best of women”
@Peaches ! I agree she’s my favorite because how she acts and she is kind she is the reason we have the beautiful musical so everyone should be appreciate her
The one I’m used to (that I’m pretty sure is in the soundtrack) is “I’ll give him this: his financial plan is a work fo genius. I could undo it if I tried... and, I tried.”, which is still pretty funny imo
You just know that when Lin dies he's going to be greeted by all these characters and they're going to thank him for what he did. And you just know Elizas going to start crying too.
Fact: 211 years later, Eliza Hamilton’s orphanage - now a family services agency called Graham Windham - is still helping kids get their shot. Graham Windham serves thousands of kids and families each year. Just like Eliza’s husband, these kids survived a tough start in life. Graham Windham provides services like family counseling and treatment, after school academic support, health services, and other services that help kids thrive into adulthood. I got this from this site: www.elizasstory.org/ PS: No matter how many times I watch this, It gets me everytime
I feel so bad for Eliza. She went through Alexander going towards war, bearing 8 of his children, went through his affair, started an orphanage, went through her father's, mothers, sisters and sons deaths and still spreads the story of the man who cheated on her. I don't think anyone will ever realise the strength of Elizabeth Schuyler Edit: omg tysm for the likes
I just thought of something !! Eliza’s family got rich from slave trading and in her final 50 or 40 years she spoke out against slavery the horrible thing that had brought an a amounce of wealth to her childhood and what had brought her to meet Alex (her status from wealth) she is so pure and innocent
I don't cry a lot, but this musical has grown on me so much. Eliza is the most powerful, inspiring woman I have ever heard of. Her husband cheated on her, told the world, and was forgiven. When he died, she dealt with all the criticism, but she carried on his legacy. She actually did something about his death. She interviewed all of those soldiers to get more stories. She raised money for the Washington Monument. She spoke out against slavery, and actually had views and beliefs to make this world a better place. She opened an orphanage and gave all those children love and care. She had the choice to do all these things, but she's Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton. She's going to do what's right.
So no one is talking about this, but I just wanna say, I love how in the beginning, in that funeral seen, everyone is crying except Angelica Hamilton, because of what happened to her after Phillip's death. I like that little detail.
@@deadfire910 After Philip died, she went insane and went into a state of "eternal childhood" and sometimes she wasn't even able to recognize family members
Eliza, you did more than enough. And yet, no one remembers her. In all the history books, she's only mentioned as Alexander's wife. No more. Not even the orphanage that she founded probably all by herself. History forgets, but we remember.
and now thanks to this wonderful musical, Eliza was known more than just Alexander Hamilton's wife. If it wasnt for Eliza, no one would know how Alexander Hamilton was in the days...they might think him as poorly like Jefferson and Madison said. It was Eliza who brought back Alexander's glory back...This musical called 'Hamilton' is not only to Alexander Hamilton but also Elizabeth Hamilton
She co-founded the first private orphanage in NYC and she was truly the strongest and most amazing woman I’ve ever heard of. Also my history book only mentions Washington, Jefferson, and Madison. That angers me.
How can they do not know about Hamilton and how both of husband and wife did so much for the country. Not to mention, where is Lafayette anf the others? They did so much too
Ms Hammy My history book didn’t even mention Madison. ;-; it saddens me that we don’t learn about the founding fathers other then Jefferson and Washington. Even then, we don’t learn anything about them but the good things.
a random person yeah 😭 in the original version, they thought of making both pippa and lin sing it together since lin said "eliza, my love, take your time" in 'the world was wide enough', having both of them sing it together as eliza and alexander finally seeing each other again, as eliza dies, was like a "finally" kind of moment for the both of them. sidenote: during eliza's final years, a visitor heard her say "i'm tired of this. i want to see hamilton." 😭
Out of the...hundreds of times that I had listened to the final version of this song... it had somehow never occurred to me that she possibly opened the orphanage because her husband was an orphan. When I saw his reaction, I broke.
This is true love. Alexander betrayed her, she gave him forgiveness, told his story, kept his legacy alive. She really did love him. She was so concentrated on telling his story she forgot to tell her own, and really didn't have anyone to tell hers. But in the end, we all tell each others story's. She was the reason he thrived before and after his death. She is a beautiful woman and needs to be more recognized. Edit: thank you for so many likes! I hope we can all tell Eliza's story!
To be honest she could have been apart of politics and help with the founding like Martha Washington but she didn’t really like the spotlight so she inside helped her husband, I think she said something about be a little bit frustrated cause her husband wasn’t getting enough recognition for something he did I’m not sure exactly but it goes along those lines
It's scary just how well the play, this animatic, just, EVERYTHING about Hamilton portrays how Eliza was, how she lived, because if you think about it, since this is all based upon the real historical figures of America, specifically the story of one of the most prominent founding fathers, and just how his life played out, of course, with some leniency. Now, taking this into fact, just consider how Eliza was in real life, if she was such a sweetheart in the actual play, and was as kind as she was in this play, just imagine how heartbreaking her story really is, she lost everything on the road alongside Alexander, and yet pushed forward, until she was hurt by his own actions, and even then, when she could have let the world forget the actions and the story of her husband, she pushed forward, paying his debts, pushing through her grief with her mothers, husbands and two of her siblings death, continuing to work forward, even getting her old house back after it was sold, and continued to work to publish Alexander's Biography, keeping a sonnet from their earlier years of courtship in a small pouch around her neck. Now, thinking about this, she was such a strong woman, and devoted wife, and she must have loved him more than life itself. Hell, she even sponsored the Washington Monument, AND built the orphanage, all before she died, and so much more. THAT, is what I call love. Alexander Hamilton, man, your wife is non-stop!
Fun fact: Eliza didn't go to Alexander's funeral because she couldn't bare it. Instead she spent (I think ) 2 weeks in her bed sobbing and doing nothing. Then one day she did the things she talks about in the song. (I'm not sure if it's exactly true because I saw it on another video but I thought it was cool)
The additional part of the Animatic just.. goodness. It made the animatic even more powerful I remember thinking "oh, everyone's saying this made them cry. I probably wont cry." Then thinking "oh my god! This so so emotional!" While sobbing. :) it really is a powerful animatic
Honestly, this is probably one of the best animatics I’ve seen of Hamilton. It really shows that Hamilton wasn’t always a prideful man but also someone who struggled deeply inside with his mistakes. And finally, when he dies, he doesn’t know or doesn’t even think that anybody is left that actually appreciates him. And then, bOOM! Eliza, who he’s done the most terrible stuff to, tells his legacy and let’s him live on instead of “running out of time”. Thank you so much for this!
Fun fact 1: Eliza didn't come to Alexanders funeral because of how heart broken she was over his death, and at one point, Elizas friends and family feared for her sanity. Fun fact 2: Elizas orphanage is still running, and is now called the Graham Windham orphanage Eliza was an amazing woman and she did so much with the time that she was given, and she would be so happy that people like Lin-Manuel Miranda keep Alexanders and her story alive, she did amazing things, and was a great woman.
Can i say ELIZA deserve more people being like her...she forgive hamilton even tho he cheated and confirmed it...she was heartbroken of her first child being died before her...she deserve more people knowing her she was a strong woman...she's a very *VERY* amazing/good example for girls not just them but everyone

We need more people like Eliza. She was so very loyal, and forgiving. She could have shunned Alexander, she could have left him after what he did with Maria. But she forgave him. She established a orphanage, she told their stories.

The saddest part is that Eliza tried so hard to keep Hamilton’s spirit alive only for him to be “that guy on the 10 dollar bill”
and the guy with an awesome musical :)
And that guy in every history book
And the guy who would inspire so many people to do more and be brave, y'know, nothing much.

Angelica, don't forget you were the best sister, who loved your sister very much.
I wish we could see her reaction...

Angelica's line on Eliza is so genuinely true "You will never find anyone as trusting or as kind"
she suffered a lot and even suffered from memory loss but despite that she still remembered her husband and kept his legacy alive
At the end of who live who dies who tells your story Eliza gasps at the audience and the light go out, *it stands as Eliza realizes that everyone in the audience came for her husband's legacy. To see his story, and realizes that she did do enough. They told his story*
Why u do me like dis
I just stopped crying after the video and you made me cry again.
Actually the gasp is showing her last breath before she died. Well that's what I think.
I was holding back tears after crying before this, but that failed afterwards.
Yes I was there at the performance and she looked out at the audience and gasped
This whole song is made weirdly more emotional by the fact that in the play one of Hamilton's last statements was "Eliza my love take your time"
I saw someone on Tumblr say that with "the lord in his kindness he gives me what you've always wanted, he gives me more time" she doesn't mean that she got the time Hamilton always wanted for himself but what he always wanted for HER
Well actually after he was shot, he died the day after the duel.. So He would have definitely had more to say to Eliza. And the letter at the beginning of this song was the last letter he wrote to Eliza.
Alexander and Eliza honestly need more recognization. It’s sad that he’s known as the ‘forgotten founding father’
And now he's one of the most well known ;)
That's why the play is so groundbreaking
Not anymore ✨
There are many more, like Alexander. Many, that did big things, and they were still forgotten. I hate that. Why we forget about people, that should be remembered? I'm from Europe, but it still hurts, that these special people were forgotten. But in the same time, this musical is telling their story ❤️
People are forgotten because no one cares a damn about history anymore
That would be Enough:

"I'm Erasing myself From the Narrative"

People keep going on about how Eliza spent her entire life trying to share Alexander's story that she didn't get to write her own. Little do you know, Eliza wrote her own story while telling Alexander's.
Think about it, she raised funds for the Washington Monument, she spoke out against slavery, and opened the first private orphanage in New York, she was the living example of kindness and selflessness. So many things that are around today started with Eliza. You can't tell me Eliza didn't write her own story.
I think it's more that she told Alexander's story instead of hers, but in telling his she wrote her own. So Lin told both of their stories.
Eliza is amazing
You deserve a medal-
PEOPLE STOP MAKING ME CRY MORE
That's half true.

Eliza’s family got rich from slave trading and in her final 50 or 40 years she spoke out against slavery the horrible thing that had brought an a amounce of wealth to her childhood and what had brought her to meet Alex (her status from wealth) she is so pure and innocent
She also had at least 3 miscarriages, 1 or 2 of which Alexander wasn't there to comfort her. I also think only 1 of her children outlived her.

2:12-2:15 What always gets me, all. the. friggin. time. Is when Lafayette, Mulligan, AND Laurens sing "We tell your story"
Every. Time. *Ugly Cries*
I know! And how Laurens hugs him? Like, "I needed you, I won't let go again, I'm never letting go." Kinda thing. It breaks my heart.
69th likes whoops but yeah the vocals are amazing on that specific part especially
YES same here.
This needs more like like right now
Thank you! Just wanted to add more to the story as is. Plus, really love Hamilton if you couldn’t tell.
Beautiful ❤
Hah I love the pun at the end
A non-stop wife for a non-stop husband
"What a sad song, man I sure hope I don't cry."
Jefferson, ruining the moment: I got Louisiana on sale.
"I don't think I have to worry about crying-"
Kid Friendly Content Wait 'Till you see the part where Eliza is old-
Phillip Hamilton oH goLLy-
Fun fact: Eliza didn't go to Alexander's funeral because she couldn't bare it. Instead she spent (I think ) 2 weeks in her bed sobbing and doing nothing. Then one day she did the things she talks about in the song. (I'm not sure if it's exactly true because I saw it on another video but I thought it was cool)
The additional part of the Animatic just.. goodness. It made the animatic even more powerful
I remember thinking "oh, everyone's saying this made them cry. I probably wont cry."
Then thinking "oh my god! This so so emotional!" While sobbing. :) it really is a powerful animatic
Bluu Puff same!
Who is cutting onions in here ??!!!
yeah man I think I got something in my eye *cri*

*cri harder*
Ya
i love onions
Fun fact 1: Eliza didn't come to Alexanders funeral because of how heart broken she was over his death, and at one point, Elizas friends and family feared for her sanity.
Fun fact 2: Elizas orphanage is still running, and is now called the Graham Windham orphanage
Eliza was an amazing woman and she did so much with the time that she was given, and she would be so happy that people like Lin-Manuel Miranda keep Alexanders and her story alive, she did amazing things, and was a great woman.

I almost cried, this was so sad. Honestly, Eliza is amazing (she is definitely my most favourited character out of all of the characters. Besides Laurens of course)
Edit: never mind I pressed a time stamp from a comment and I started crying

Is no body going to talk about how deatailed the very beggining is.Angelica and Eliza and all 7 children too (they had eight but one was Philip). I also love how they made everyone but Angelica Hamilton crying. That is such a great detail
