A little trick I learned on panfish years ago. Light line and no weight. The more natural the bait sinks the quicker the big ones are likely to hammer it.
@@IamAtrout-25 The problem that I have noticed is getting a light, natural bait to sink far enough to find the big guys. A big night crawler just on a hook would drop down, and then slowly lifting and dragging that along usually hooked up bigger rare spare perch of the bream variety!
@@abedanielspictures yeah I have noticed that while fishing lately, red worms are actually a lot better for the tiny fish because the night crawlers are usually softer and easier to be stolen
I know and fish this Lake VERY WELL. You guys had one long paddle across that large lake to get back to that creek. There are some giant gills in that lake including gar pike. Awesome to see both of you having good fellowship.
Hi John, one thing you need to know is southern rivers are more sand and gravel, where northern rivers and lakes are muck bottom in 80% or more in a lake. This is due to the ice age. when the ice grew farther south it left more sand and rock. the rivers all so flowed before the northern areas. Up north the ice gouged out more dirt and mud when it was retreating. I have fished 75% of Wisconsin lakes and rivers and they were all at about 80% or more muck with a few sandy areas. I would say from southern Illinois go east/west and that will be the boundry line with the muck from rock and sand. Only the faster streams will have a rock bottom from the muck getting washes away in the past centuries.
Excellent video. Neat to see you perk up when you got into "your zone" of "creek fishing." You weren't having a good time in the lake, but when you got to the creek....! Those pumpkin seed fish were beautiful!
You guys fishing is like me gardening when I get it right the rewards are fruitfull. But when you just mess around and don't know what you're doing everything tends to hang up 😂.
I am sorry you lost your drone. But the pumkin seed were really beautiful fish. Thank you for sharing and God bless you both and your families.....🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😀
You've taught me so much about pan fish the differences of brim, sunfish, blue gill, pumpkin seed I never knew there were so many species, I'm glad the Lord has blessed you with this channel & your knew career!
They have some used DJI Mavics at the pawn shop in Athens across from the high school. Might be able to get a cost break there in replacing. I’d call before driving up. Last time I was in there last week they had a Mavic 2 used.
sorry to here you lost your Drone. I have a DJI maverick mini. rule of thumb never fly past 40% of battery away from you if there is any wind. second thing i learned is if you don't have a clear line of sight you will loose signal. always check the settings for return to home to make sure its above any trees. And at a last chance resort if you still have a connection to it land it as soon as possible on dry land there is an option to turn on an alarm or i think they call it a find me or locate me. you land it and it just beeps so you can find it. But to make you feel better i lost my first gopro camera on my first fishing trip with it, had it mounted on a pole on my kayak and mount broke in the wind. its sitting in the bottom of a 40 ft deep lake.
We fished Lake Erie outside Monroe, Mi in the same kind of tall reeds and grasses... got 20 lbs of Bluegill Pumpkinseed and Sunnies in 3 hours. Some of the most fun I ever had fishing...
Some tips for Michigan. For largemouth, fish toward evening in about three or so feet of water around reed beds or lily pads or drop off with structure. For bluegill, fish drop offs in spring around 10 pm on the surface with black poppers or in September when the air is cool but the water still warm in about 12 feet of water.
Those punkin seed were beautiful and quite big . I enjoy watching you fish for multiple species especially when your in new places , almost makes me feel like I am there to. Keep up the great work sir . GOD BLESS AND GO KATS!!!!!
That channel or swampy area was really nice Love those pumpkin seeds bright colors you caught some really big ones too Nice change up video John really great area
hell ya man, i live over on the east side of the state, Kalamazoo. and kayak catfish got me a fever to start catching fish in a kayak witch also lead me to your channel. i live about 4 mins from a county park/lake and the last 2 trips i have got a pumpkinseed just over 7 inches they fight like the dickens and love them on the ultralight. just started fishing again fell off the wagon for a bit
I had the original mavic mini. I also lost mine. I was flying it and the remote lost connection with the drone. And when that happens it will just land itself. Well mine was right over a pond. I made one video with it. I think I flew it 4 times before I lost it.
Actually, yes. I agree. That woulda been a prime spot for the Whopper Plopper to be fished at, especially in terms of casting near me shoreline, and reeling it back to ya! Woulda caught some Primo Bass, most likely.
Years back when I still lived in southeastern Washington state, my buddy and I would catch punkin' seeds out of the lower Snake River. They were much brighter colored than what you were catching and a lot of fun. Took 3 home for my 55 gallon aquarium. What a blast *that* was. Good video! Took me back to a younger me. 😁
Ayye Wabasis lake. I was checking out a boat for sale over there and the boat died all the way on the other side of the lake. Had to fix it on the water to get back to launch. Didn't buy that boat to say the least! Apparently there are some really nice largemouth in that lake. Never got a chance to fish it, though.
So sorry to hear that about your drone. But I believe in miracles and I think your as good as they come and I'm sure you will get you a new one or somebody will find your and send it to you. Sir thanks for all that you do you are a true blessing to me and my family. I wish I had just as much luck and fishing gear as you do. My three kiddos sure could use some after there stuff and mine got stolen. I mean I could careless about me just getting my kiddos back out is what my main problem is. But I have been praying and I know god will make sure it all work out. Sir I'm just glad to see you made it there and back safely and had a wonderful time fishing with another awesome youtuber. Well till the next's one GodBless and Tight Lines.
yes you need fish painter - lots of kilohertz transducer - you may not even need it that much but in some of the bigger places can help you find bait and fish ask some people for one and they will probably send you something - you want a bigger lo profile monitor #predator #sonar reviews
Sorry to hear about your drone loss. Hate to preach but this topic hits close to home for me John. I have been an RC pilot for decades, along with my father who started me on the hobby as a kid. You should never fly RC aircraft without 100% battery. Flying with a non-full battery is a safety check failure of every preflight safety check for RC aircraft everywhere. Chinese DJI Drones are not cheap these days, and the Mavic is impressive in capabilities. You probably lost $600-$1000? You also polluted the lake with plastics, metal motors, and the toxic lithium batteries it operates on. Please try to be more careful, also never fly over people as a falling RC aircraft can kill and maim. Otherwise enjoyed the video sir!
Michigan just hits different.
it sure does
Least you don't have to worry about Gators coming out of the grass like in FL. But with those big Pike wouldn't dangle those toes in the water.
I don't think pikes would attack you lmao but you never know. I've been swimming in these lakes my whole life
@@EvilKane333 To be fair lots of people have never been attacked by a gator lol
Welcome to Michigan! You will find some awesome inland lakes up here, nothing but gorgeous panfish, smallmouth, and largemouth!
Mabey some pike
Nice day to be up a creek, John. Yeah, no mountains to block that wind up there. Bet it was cooler than down here, though. Enjoying your trip.
i was hoping it was going to be cooler but it was about the same, 90's every day not as muggy though
Sight fishing in clear skinny water is a blast! Sorry you lost your drone 😞

I think we called marrow bottom lakes I don't remember why
You couldn't fish 75% of Michigan's waterways in two lifetimes.
What a great trip! You have the best fishing channel around.
