    This is a great video. Thanks for the info. Almost ate shit today when my ABS kicked in on the trail and realized I needed to disable it. I'll be upgrading my bike asap with this.

      Done! And it works perfectly. I extended it out to the dash but more or less the same mod. Thanks again for the advice

    Just completed the ABS mod exactly as Tim showed and all the parts were at my local Orileys Auto parts.
    Easy to turn On/Off ABS and the 30 amp switch is heavy duty toggle to on or off. Added the 30 amp mini fuse to the inline fuse and connected to positive battery terminal. Had to use a small flat top screw driver to lift the battery nut to the positive battery screw since I already have a tender installed and added Abs eyelet terminal making overall screw shorter to catch but easy fix ti lift battery nut.
    Your video and location made the install clean, quick and easy. Plus everything can go back to factory setup in less then 2 minutes if ever needed but don’t see why. I just used painters tape and taped up the now unused female plug and used fine tip marker to label Abs factory plug for future reference.
    Thank you x million for your video
    Anthony

    So, I bought the Adventure model a little over a year ago. I thought I wanted the ABS. But I got one without it. I literally have never needed it on road or off. I heavily brake with the front brakes on road. And totally back brakes offroad. To be able to lock up the back brakes offroad is key to control. I gotta get some more aggressive tires. Tired of not fighting enough grip. It goes all wobbley on you offroadyou are always fighting grip, top heavy and wieght

    Good video! Nice that Kawasaki changed the location of the battery on the gen 3. It will make battery maintenance easier. Your switch might self switch if you hit something in the road like a deep pot hole. I always make my own mounting hardware so I don't need to drill anything on the motorcycle.

    Good job. Thank you. Incidentally, I have ridden my bike down some pretty knarly downhills and haven't lost front brake useage although I have felt the abs kick in a little bit. It works pretty well off road but I still would like to make a system like yours to disable the abs completely.

      He used a female blade on the relay side but you could use a male blade on the battery side and not have to remove or wire anything to the battery and then put the switch wherever you want. That's what I plan on doing with mine and put the switch on the dash. Is that what you're referring to? After some trial and there's no problems I'm just going to hardwire it.

    Definitely will disable ALL ABS to front and rear. Bikes that come with ABS shutoffs only disable the rear. The reason is if you are accustomed to front wheel ABS and you forget to turn it on you could have a bad outcome.

      It’s the perfect setup and out of the weather, less clutter on bars and out of the ☀️. You could just rotate the switch 180 if inertia becomes a issue. As mentioned the factory ABS light stays on the dash when ABS has a problem and not working or in this case turned off by the east access switch. Brilliant.

    Question.
    The wiring to the switch wasn't mentioned, the fused wire from the battery? And the bladed wire to the OEM connection, what is positive and what is negative to actual switch.
    I'm not much of an electrician....

    • @05dalton
      @05dalton 3 месяца назад

      Hey there. I saw no one responded to this. The ground on almost all 12V vehicles, bikes and cars, is the frame of the vehicle. You mostly never need a negative. As long as whatever you're wiring up is bolted to the frame, it just needs a positive. Hope this helps.

    If it is this easy, my question is:
    Why did Kawasaki not do something similar?

    • @2talltimadventures
      @2talltimadventures  Год назад +2

      The only answer I can give to that is cost. Every time you add an option to a bike. The price goes up. We all love that the KLRs are so low priced bikes for what they are. But if we begin adding every little thing and nuance that people think that should be added it just adds to the cost. That cost will be transferred to us the consumer. Well this is relatively low cost item for us to add the cost of engineering and mass producing it into the system would be a lot higher.

    I just got my bike Friday. It’s new abs model. My abs light is staying on all the time. If I pull the fuses,will that make light go out? I will carry it back to dealer to get it looked at under warranty. But it will be a while before I can and that light is driving me crazy.

    • @2talltimadventures

      This mod disabled the ABS and leaves the light on while disengaged. So your problem will be something you need your dealer to look at.
