@@raw7s784 6:09 how did he push that in then?
@@enduro19 It's a giant magnet, he holds it to the bolt and pulls it away a little bit before it breaks connection.
@@corombb What about 11:58 when he zip ties the wires n then cuts off the excess?
Ajay Mattu Yep! And 11.25 and I could pick out a dozen more times.....
@@ajaymattu4513 that's played forward, but they just added in those little bits to sell the lie.
The moment of the start up.. that is a genuine reaction people! The feelings you get when you successfully complete a task like that....unique
Starting and riding a bike you rebuilt is exquisitely satisfying, I highly recommend it.
Abso-freakin-lutely!
none of it was a second or third or ...th take!
I bought a KLR650 in 1988, $3100. The front sprocket retaining thing was the weakest part on the bike and replaced it twice. I wish I had never sold it.
I also envy mechanically inclined riders who can do their own maintenance and repair. In this age of iPhonies, those who can do, should be respected.
Also, I now have a 06 Yamaha TMax with
Thats the thing is that its not genuine
I love how Ryan is just using a very basic set of tools to put this thing together, improvising where he needs to. That plywood wrench thing he used for the clutch pack cracked me up. Nice to see him showing that you don't need an elaborate workshop to fix a bike. Excellent work!!!
Yeah then there is people like us who make excuses like I don't have the tools for it
What was that plywood for? I have no idea about motorcycles.
@@varveyok533 there is a bolt in that piece that needs to be tightened but it's secured on a piece that rotates itself. So if you were to try and tighten it without holding it in place you'd rotate the piece behind and not the bolt itself, the plywood piece was made to hold that piece in place
Don't even need that much - I've used a regular strap for that before. Wrap it around the hub a few times and hook the other end to the frame right behind the case. Works a treat! I love this bike.
Them: It's just a motorcycle.
Me: Sobbing violently
I feel you bro
I've said it before and I'll say it again: This is the best motorcycle channel on youtube. By a long shot.
I was the 69th thumbs up! Yeah....
@@noshorts6076 first like of 69th like! Likeception!
I used to think Motorcycle Magazine gave it a run for its money, but I miss Ari and Zach.
I am sending them my Land Cruiser 80 to rebuild. Price doesn't matter. I won't find better guys :)
Noone cares
Much respect. Most "rebuilds" from larger companies means they strip down a $2500 bike, and slap $25,000 worth of new stuff on it... but not F9, he replaced the necessary and reused the rest just like the rest of us peons would do in real life. Where we have no sponsors and a $1 is still a $1. Well done!
I really appreciate this comment! We were a bit self conscious about showing all those rusty parts going back on. But hey, we had a few hundred bucks to spend and that's real life eh. ~RF9
I was going to comment that if you strip a bike you could powder coat and or paint. But now reading this comment i will not, you are right i was wrong. I have and old bike and us mortals dont have money to burn...great video and keeping it real!
I did enjoy the asthetic of the old parts, except for the piston. It's so much work to get to the piston, just change it while you're there. No one is going to go, "well la-de-da, aren't we the fancy one with our new piston". No loss of street cred.
@@FortNine I would have added a couple of cans of spray paint. Fantastic video.
The flat head screws on the master cylinder bothered me
I feel completely inept. This dude and his compadre are insanely talented.
this is quite literally not a display of talent, but experience and skill learned by repetition and trial and error. I myself was not born a mechanic, it took 10 years to get on a level where i can confidently say i know what i am doing, and these guys display the same result of countless hours of learning.
It always looks daunting from the outside, once you get in there it's feels easier
I would love to see the slow motion version. Along with notes and comments on the tricky parts. I watched this video 15 times already and never get bored of it. Thanks!!
(Watch it on a slower speed) what I did in a few places. Actually helped me immensely
The look on your face when you started it , like a pround father and his new child !
he gave birth to it
Like a boobied child....
That's a beautiful feeling.
No way was that first start...
Would have spat out smoke and ran like absolute garbage initially until it blew all the crap out of combustion chamber.
One would also hope they cranked the shit out of it with ignition off to get oil pressure too...
@@theonewithin609 I agree it had been fired at least once. The time inbetween turning on the petcock and firing it up was to short. Carb couldn't fill that fast. I've rebuilt motors that fired right up and ran fine .If its a fresh rebuild there's nothing in the combustion chamber to blow out. Especially if you crank it over first to get oil pressure.
The type of guy to not just take off what he needs to repair and repair it but dissect the whole bike, rebuild it from the ground up and make a video of it. Ryan is a God among men
Was jyst gonna check the fluids. 😨
And then go out and destroy the bike 😥

I am so happy that i found this channel. The last 2-3 days i've been watching pretty much just your videos. Ryan and F9 are the perfect example of how companies should promote themselves - by staying in the background, and letting the content they create speak for themselves.
Same here, almost 2 years later. This music is soothing af too, ngl.
Ryan, that startup at the end was so satisfying. The honest look on your face tells it all, you did it and it worked!! I've been riding since I was 18, I'm 68 now, I've owned 8 motorcycles and I'm about to purchase my 9th. I've rebuilt several engines in my life and the feeling of success and satisfaction you get when you first start it up and it RUNS is a feeling you never forget! You've got a great Channel, I've been watching you for years and I'm happy to see your subscribers have grown, you deserve it. The bike I'm about to buy is a new 2022 Harley Fat Boy 114. I'm excited like a kid at Christmas, the day I'm no longer able to ride motorcycles will come and I'm guessing it will also be the day I die. I have so many fine memories of riding motorcycles, the great trips I've taken all by myself out into the country like a cowboy and his horse exploring the country, that's how I've often viewed my bike, a horse to carry me to new adventures. Ride safe Ryan.
Ryan's laugh at the end was priceless... That's a laugh of a man both excited and relieved... Awesome content as always... Thanks FortNine for what you do.
It didn't sound like it was running. It sounded like he was holding the ignition button.
@@jackmiddleton2080 Ryan tapped the starter button and it fired right up... That is how that KLR650 sounds when it is running. It is a very awesome mechanical sound.
It really was. I have been there.
yeah, that laugh and smile at the end... it's awesome. Love to watch more.
"That's a laugh of a man both excited and relieved"
That's what she said.
I can tell Ryan is a real man.
Coz he used a nut and a screw to press in the bearings.
Huge respect for using ghetto tools for that clutch and dynamo.
Phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal.

Yeah those are the kind of things you learn by doing. Like adjusting the valves on a tenere with a hacksawed IKEA screw, or reheating/annealing a copper washer over a gas stove by the side of the road.

I like the classy music, a nice difference compared to overused electronic/techno beats.

Definately
+1
FortNine has the best music of any channel. Never techno music ever.
Music from the 40s to accompany 40s technology. Perfect.
I appreciate the classy background music. This is a relaxing enjoyable video to watch. Thank you!
The background music is just an masterpiece
The satisfaction level when the engine started must have been insane.
The insanity when the engine started satisfying must have been leveled.
Imagine inventing a motorcycle and driving your first model the first time...
Every time I see a wiring harness I get a twitch in my eye and get flashbacks to very, very dark times...lol great video as always Ryan!
Nothing worse than a fault in your wiring loom. Nearly turned me into a schizophrenic! *stop talking to me whilst I'm writing a comment, I mean it.
Every mechanics nightmare. I used to troubleshoot electrical problem in my old bike, a cb100, even though i'm neither a professional mechanic nor an electrician. So i know how frustrating it is to do it yourself.
Now, with my new bike, i'm doing all the electrical modification my self to make sure i know which wire goes where. It makes troubleshooting a lot easier.
When ever problem issue with the wiring harness i be like : “ oh shit, how many centuries been through”
Honestly, I like wiring. But I'm an electronics person before I'm an engine person. Electronics just make more sense to me.
My headlight kept going of then I'd move of wire and it would come back on now it doesn't come on at all that's enough to cause me palpitations
That last sigh of relief is golden when he starts it up. I'm so amazed by his skills and knowledge. Brilliant

Complete Motorcycle Build in 15 Minutes - Ryaned but a point is missing. I think you spent so much efforts into making this great video, and then not taking the low hanging fruit. What would be perfect is to make comments about how these parts are working not just what group they belong to, and giving tips on what skill level each of these stages require. The reason why I write this is because how many times do you see a professional completely disassemble a bike? I think I could have learned so much if there were comments included. But as all videos made by the F9 team, it was great!
