I ordered a 2022 Ford Maverick when they first came out. It took a year before I received it. I liked it well enough. I loved the gas mileage. But after I received it, I realized that I had mistakenly ordered two Mavericks from two different dealerships. My intention was to buy the first one that arrived. It took over a year and a half for the second one to arrive. By that time, it was a 2023 model. Mavericks were in high demand at the time. I sold the first one to Carvana for a nine-thousand-dollar profit. I drove the second one for a couple of months and thought, "I should sell this and make more money." So, I traded it even for a 2023 Mazda CX-5 that cost $32,000. I made another nine grand. Thank goodness for the Maverick!

Your video shows your lack of research during the 16 months you waited before your Maverick was delivered. You probably should have joined the Maverick Truck Club (MTC), and researched the comments of the Maverick owners regarding the features they liked and what they did not like before complaining that the truck is not a good fit. The specifications regarding head room, leg room etc is available for most car manufacturers including Ford upon review and research. I have been following your videos and don't understand how you can order the Maverick to the exact specifications and trim level, that you wanted; then 8 months later decide the truck does not meet your circumstances, especially after you accessorized the truck, and then give some unjustified and unwarranted opinion that all Maverick trucks are going to crash in value. . What I find troubling is your contradictory statements made during this video, when you instantly realized you have a growing family that will not fit in the truck, including yourself, and then, state you are planning on getting a smaller car that will be easier to get around; that makes no sense since you would probably get better gas mileage with the hybrid Maverick than the smaller car, unless the small car is a hybrid or EV. It is possible to buy any vehicle and find you have to sell or trade a car because of unforeseen circumstances preventing you from keeping the car. I had a 2008 Subaru Forrester with a 5 speed manual that I bought brand new, however I broke my left leg in 2 places and after a year it was still painful to throw the clutch, so I had to trade it in because I could no longer drive the car without being in pain.

I bought a 2022 xl 4k brand new for $25k, now got 46,000 miles. It towed anything I hooked it up to, could fit anything I put in it, would go wherever I took it, and did it quite efficiently.
Kinda sounds like a Subaru boxer engine at the end... Sorry the Mav didn't work out for you. I ordered my 2023 XLT FX4 on the first day of the order banks and got mine built on the 2nd week of the 2023 model year. Definitely made sure I knew what things were gonna cause delays and avoided those. Sticker was under $30k, and I have loved it though for the almost two years that I've had it.
Trucks tend to hold value and the Maverick is and will continue to be a very popular truck, specially the Hybrid version. Sounds like you really wanted a sports car form the beginning and not a truck.
So is it safe or even legal to fly a drone to film yourself while driving at the same time ? Its pretty obvious in some of the shots your right hand is working he drone as you swerve around in and out of the bike lane ?
Was at a Ford lot a couple weeks ago looking at Rangers. The dealer had 50 new Mavericks on the lot, and they told me they sit forever. They can't keep Rangers on the lot, and they can't give Mavericks away.
Ford doesn't make gobs of money on the Maverick that's why they aren't building them as being demanded. Ford built one million mustangs in 18 months back in 1965. I have 4 Ford's in my driveway and used to work there. It's all about high end vehicles. I like that truck. Good luck with your next vehicle!
2024 maverick lariet fx4 eco, thing is quick as fuck and gets really great gas mileage still. Anyone looking to buy one I always tell them to go for the eco boost. I’m still averaging 30+ and sometimes even get around 39 on the hwy. so much better feeling than the hybrid power and transmission wise. Feels like you can actually use it as a truck more.
When you say it fits your young children, were you able to get rear facing seats in the back while still being decently comfortable / safe in the front seats ?
That depends on how large you are. For me that wouldn’t work because I’m 6’5” If you’re 5’5” it probably would be fine. Or if there’s one kid in a rear facing that could be on the passenger side (with no front passenger)
I'm 5'11" and I have a rear facing child seat set behind drivers seat at the most horizontal setting (taking up the most space). I only had to move my drivers seat a few clicks forward. Still sat comfortably driving. This also secures the carseat more, pushing back on it after it's installed. Win win.
I'm 6'1" and had no problem when my kids had rear facing seats. I can even fit behind myself. If your 6'5" like the poster than you will have problems in a lot of vehicles unless they are full size trucks or SUVs. The Maverick has more rear seat room then all the Midsize trucks.
I bought a 23 Mav Lariat in cactus gray in May of 23 and now have 58k miles. I drive a ton for work. It's been great so far, but driving almost all Toyotas before this I am nervous as hell that it won't last much past 100k miles. I could break even if I sell now, but not sure what the smart move is. Pay off as quickly as possible, or sell and buy a cheaper high mileage Toyota. Thoughts?
Do what makes you sleep at night for sure. I personally was confident in the Maverick drivetrains overall because both the hybrid and gasoline only drivetrains were taken from other vehicles that have had them for years and years. Plenty of time to work out the bugs so to speak.
Seems like we both worked similar jobs. I occasionally work in the field or bring materials to the site but most of my time is spent in the office or driving between job sites to oversee progress. I have the opportunity to switch from an F150 to a Maverick. Because I feel like I don’t need an F150 80% of the time. However I’m concerned the Maverick will be too small for those 20% times when I have to pick up wheelbarrows, ladders, lumber, etc. tough decision to make. We do have other work trucks or vans, but driving back to a shop to switch vehicles is not ideal when you’re already out. You said you wouldn’t work in the field with the Maverick because it’s not a truck for that purpose. Makes me think it might not be the right choice for me. Even if it’s perfect 80% of the time.
I've never bought or acquired a single thing in my life with the intention of selling it later. Not a car, not a house, not a motorcycle, not land, not even a girlfriend lol.
Hey Brendan, been a while since I’ve checked your channel. Kinda fell off watching maverick content once I finally got mine back in February. Sad to hear you’re parting ways with yours after the journey leading up to you receiving it, but yeah sounds like the need for it for you is no longer. I’m the opposite, always had a sedan/car (learned and drove around on my dads 1990 Camry DX, then had a 2008 Mazda3 which I loved, and then a 2010 Altima Coupe S when someone crashed into my Mazda back in 2019, and always saw the Nissan as a means to an end). I wanted something kinda “the next size up” and that’s when the maverick was unveiled back in 2021 but only until last year was I in a position I could actually buy one now and so here I am. And I gotta say I LOVE the truck! So comfortable and really the perfect size and the fact that it is a pickup IS an added bonus. And I’m kinda glad I got it when I did cause I’m not sure how I feel about the 2025 redesigns. Anyway I’ll continue to watch and look forward to seeing your new vehicle (congrats btw) and the adventures with it.
That’s so awesome it’s working perfectly for you! Like a better version of your last vehicles that also has a bed! Thanks a ton for being here. Far less Maverick content in the future but more sporty and diverse content in the future!
Why not just have a work truck for work, and get whatever else you want for a dd or fun car? That's what I do, and that arrangement works fine. You lose money if you buy a vehicle and don't keep it for at least 8 years.
Hybrid 2.5L /191hp combined/155 lb-ft Tq/ curb weight 3,674 lbs vs 2.0L EcoBoost 250 hp/277 lb-ft Tq/ curb weight 3,731 lb. Compared with Ford Mustang 2024 2.3L EcoBoost /315 hp/350 lb-ft Tq / curb weight 3,579 lbs. The Maverick is not a sports car even a low powered one ,it is a compact truck.
Have a 2024 maverick eco lariet fx4.. thing is honestly quick af for a truck and gets killer gas mileage. Averaging 32+ sometimes even 39 on the highway.
If hauling does not matter, the Maverick might work. However, Ford's reliability rate is plummeting lately. The Maverick and the Edge are the better Fords, but some of us realize that the future reliability is key.
Only now your videos came up. So a little late on comments... Guess you couldn't resist the 2020 STI you reviewed a month ago? 4 doors and still "family friendly"?😁 I currently own a 2023 Maverick Hybrid XLT and love this little truck but completely understand your wish for a sports car!😁
"It frees up that money to save, invest it, or put it in to a project car". Proceeds to tease the sound of a project car. I guess you decided between those 3 options.
I don't care what you buy. You're always going to lose the most the first year. Mavericks hold there value. But when you drive a new car off the lot that's where you lose right away. Unless there's a shortage, we can't rely on that again.
Should have gone with a more base model around 30k flat and just kept it. 5 years from now you'll be wishing you had it for the combo of utility and mpg.
If you want any breakdown in particular let me know. Total costs were: gas, one oil change (used FordPass points) and accessories (floor mats, seat covers, arm rest cover, window tint) anything else?
So you’re selling the vehicle because it will keep depreciating because new vehicles keep coming out?😅 I don’t know what vehicles you typically daily drive but 99% of vehicles continue to keep depreciating as the years go by and the miles go up on them…💀
Not all, however a fair majority of people with kids today are annoying . We had a 68 falcon coupe ! fit all four us fine . Went on vacations, my dad hauled 12 foot rolls of carpet , my parents paid the house off in 18 years.
No offense but 35k subs is not the "ok I'm ready to do this full time and support my family" moment. If you look at creators that do this full time and support themselves they typically don't have: a family to feed, their own home, car payments. They live with roommates and typically spend all their time making content and editing it. Never quit your job to do content until the content itself is able to support your family already and then slowly widdle away your hours at work if possible. As a financial channel this should be very obvious to you and the fact you did it anyways is why you're probably not successful in it. Nobody can trust a financial channel that does things against what their preach.
@@brendandrivesDang, they're running they high? That's crazy! I have a 335i XDrive (the N55/before the B58), and the engine sounds amazing. I absolutely love it. But it has way too many miles, so I had to go for the Maverick 😆
Definitely on the list for future consideration. I’ve driven a lot of them and enjoyed almost all of them. From ‘67 GT500 to modern GT500’s and almost everything in between.
I put in an order for a 24 last week. Would have loved a 25 with AWD hybrid 4k tow, but they ruined it with touchscreen only HVAC controls. Really wished they brought in the 2.3 for the maverick now that AWD hybrid has made the ecoboost obsolete.
I was smart enough not to order the hybrid. I never buy vehicles with engines that have not been proven. I ordered my 2023 Lariat/Lux EB AWD in Sept, 2022. It arrived in April, 2023. 14K so far, zero problems. Ave. all around MPG is 28.1. I am retiring in less than 2 years and I will be gifting myself a new 5.0 S650 Mustang. However, the Mav isn't going anywhere. It's a perfect truck for small jobs that will keep me busy in retirement.
You don't know what you're saying. The engine in the hybrid is the 2.5L Mazda MZR engine which is ANCIENT...it dates back to the early 2000's. A very well proven engine.
Too long a story. Overpriced to start out with. I do not pre order a car and wait months to get it. Go to the dealer and see what they have. Compare dealers and buy what is available unless it is some option you really need to have. Otherwise you get scammed even more. The chips excuse is over. The shortage excuse is over. No more above MSRP. Buy somewhere else or another model. We have made the corporations extremely wealthy.

Well it makes sense, it goes to show that the Maverick is perfectly fine but the guy somehow has the money to completely whiplash his car needs and wants
ii love mine, i waited 13 months for my 2023 Maverick, love it , i got 53.3 mpg , my best 3.5 hybrid , 760 miles on tank ofgas buy onr if you can find one.
Eric's financial tip:
Never have changed my mind on a car or a wife because divorcing either of them is very expensive... Choose wisely and keep them until the wheels or legs fall off.
You're not wrong
So is it safe or even legal to fly a drone to film yourself while driving at the same time ? Its pretty obvious in some of the shots your right hand is working he drone as you swerve around in and out of the bike lane ?
Buyer remorse videos. Trying to justify poor decisions. Haha
Exactly. He over paid to begin with.
They are building them as fast as they can. They already sold 90,000 in just 6 months this year. That will be around 180,000 by the end of the year.
For me that wouldn’t work because I’m 6’5”
If you’re 5’5” it probably would be fine.
This is how you do it, in my opinion.
Far less Maverick content in the future but more sporty and diverse content in the future!
i think the pre 25 models will skyrocket in price because the 25s are coming out with a GPF meaning the newer trucks will be way more unreliable.
Why in gods name would anyone sink $39,000 into a Ford Maverick? 😨
Good choice!
Why not just have a work truck for work, and get whatever else you want for a dd or fun car? That's what I do, and that arrangement works fine. You lose money if you buy a vehicle and don't keep it for at least 8 years.
You bought the wrong engine dude
A different engine won't make it into a sports car or a hot hatch.
They both suck
@@JKDJackYou’d be surprised
Si you are selling because you made a bad purchase decision. Not the cars fault. 🤷🏻♂️
Never said it was the cars fault, and I think it was still a good decision at the time, just not now. Thanks for watching Jose!
If hauling does not matter, the Maverick might work. However, Ford's reliability rate is plummeting lately. The Maverick and the Edge are the better Fords, but some of us realize that the future reliability is key.
You bought an early model WRX STi.
That's my high school dream car
Only now your videos came up. So a little late on comments... Guess you couldn't resist the 2020 STI you reviewed a month ago? 4 doors and still "family friendly"?😁
I currently own a 2023 Maverick Hybrid XLT and love this little truck but completely understand your wish for a sports car!😁
I'm picking my lariat hybrid up Friday. Hope I get along with it as good as you have.
Does your price include taxes and all the dealer fees?
Yeah the $39.5k does
legacy xt, outback wilderness? or did you go WRX?
No, but you’re getting warmer!
Brz
Very funny guy, then why you bought it in the first place
"It frees up that money to save, invest it, or put it in to a project car". Proceeds to tease the sound of a project car. I guess you decided between those 3 options.
Good luck with your other channel, as this is going nowhere fast
Thanks for the well wishes, I obviously need it!
Dang, some Mavericks are winners some are loosers. I'll stay on the winning side with the Maverick Hybrid.
I don't care what you buy. You're always going to lose the most the first year. Mavericks hold there value. But when you drive a new car off the lot that's where you lose right away. Unless there's a shortage, we can't rely on that again.
i would like to have a maverick but im not spending over 30k. in fact i want the advertised bottom rung model thats supposed to be under 25k.
sounds like you should have got a santa cruz 2.5T
it's mad that's considered a small car in the US
Should have gone with a more base model around 30k flat and just kept it. 5 years from now you'll be wishing you had it for the combo of utility and mpg.
Kia Stinger next car fun and room for the family!!
I need to drive one of those! They look fun and quick enough
"I bought a ford maverick and later realized it was a ford maverick, so I'm selling it."
TLDR: Bought it don't need it no more
Wish you'd have given us the loss with and without your additional costs...
If you want any breakdown in particular let me know. Total costs were: gas, one oil change (used FordPass points) and accessories (floor mats, seat covers, arm rest cover, window tint) anything else?
Great you sold before the new maverick announcement today!
This was part of the plan 🤫😎
Please keep it straight and precise next time. It’s so difficult to follow and to get your point in this video.
and you have a financial blog LMAO
So you’re selling the vehicle because it will keep depreciating because new vehicles keep coming out?😅 I don’t know what vehicles you typically daily drive but 99% of vehicles continue to keep depreciating as the years go by and the miles go up on them…💀
Man, a little long winded hey?
Not all, however a fair majority of people with kids today are annoying . We had a 68 falcon coupe ! fit all four us fine . Went on vacations, my dad hauled 12 foot rolls of carpet , my parents paid the house off in 18 years.
There is still a shortage on mavericks
A shortage of hybrids. There are plenty of various Ecoboosts.
This is more addicted to having a new car.
What’s your other channel
youtube.com/@BrendanEvan
Had my eye on one of these for awhile. Sounds like a GT86...🤔
That's on my top 3 list for sure, working on the videos to reveal what it really is as we speak!
A vehicle that was not worth the hype. The $20k truck that cost almost $40k.
$40k for Maverik it's insane, for F150 that's fine but for the Maverik🙅♂🤦♀, I rather buy 2 car for $20k each
Time saver tip ….Just go to 5:40
No offense but 35k subs is not the "ok I'm ready to do this full time and support my family" moment.
I appreciate how much thought you put into your comment and concern! It’s been a rough road so far but worth it in a few ways! Thanks for being here!
Sounds like a 6 cylinder turbo. Maybe a Supra?
Man I wish, a MkV manual is on the short list but I think they are close to $70k
@@brendandrivesDang, they're running they high? That's crazy! I have a 335i XDrive (the N55/before the B58), and the engine sounds amazing. I absolutely love it. But it has way too many miles, so I had to go for the Maverick 😆
@@brendandrivesWhat was the car at the end, and did you end up getting it?
I did! Still working on the video series on it (yes it is taking FOREVER) But I’ll give you a hint: it’s a Ford
I doubt you can even get 34k for that.
I did
@@brendandrivessurprised you didn't get more. Nice little truck.
Truck with a lawn mower engine.
Mustang?
Definitely on the list for future consideration. I’ve driven a lot of them and enjoyed almost all of them. From ‘67 GT500 to modern GT500’s and almost everything in between.
I put in an order for a 24 last week. Would have loved a 25 with AWD hybrid 4k tow, but they ruined it with touchscreen only HVAC controls. Really wished they brought in the 2.3 for the maverick now that AWD hybrid has made the ecoboost obsolete.
Because it's not a real truck?
Elantra n is my guess
Good guess, I hear they are actually really great to drive!
You didn't just lose your a**You lost from your rib cage down!!! 😊
No, it is NOT a Mazda engine. You are the one who doesn't know what he is talking about. @@W0RLDSSMALLESTVI0LIN NO
The hybrid engine is very reliable, it just no mechanic wants to work on them.
Fords hybrid and eCVT is very proven. It is based off Toyotas design and they have been using it for a very long time.
@@W0RLDSSMALLESTVI0LIN No, it isn't. Completely different design.
Financial advisor who throws away $5K on a Ford. 😂
Stay away from the Small Ecoboost engines from ford they are crap.xd
Hybrid powaaaah
I have never heard a single mechanic on this website say anything good about an Ecoboost engine. it's the 737MAX of the pickup market...🤣💀
You teach personal finance? Trading vehicles is a way to poverty. Buy and hold forever is the way to prosper.
Slow down and breath deeply and exhale ..
Bought a WRX
My attention span is too short for this video😊
You should have bought a Mazda Miata in the first place.
I had a Mazdaspeed Miata back in the day! Had to mount a Sparco seat to the floor, remove the cushion, and sit on the steel bottom to fit..
Should'a bought a Ridgeline.
Try the Honda Civic.
Wow you spend that much on that you must be smoking something. Thats a $23,000 truck at best. I bought my Chevy Silverado for $30,000 new.
