"BAM BAM BAM. Yeah, there was a gunfight around here. BAM BAM."
Hahaha I was enjoying myself as you can tell
Eric's Hobby Workshop def added to the enjoyment of this video!
Absolute best 😅
This stuff is so simple yet so clever
Nove Cento Thanks! I believe not every project needs to be so grand an undertaking that it’s on the workbench for months at a time!
Mind blown by that bunker at the end! The gaps between the pieces ended up just looking like breaks between massive slabs of concrete, this is a great look. I love the pipes and the console and the sound of snapping styrofoam too. There's a ton of great ideas in here, thanks Eric :-) I've gotta get back to painting and playing Necromunda, I"m definitely gonna keep this in mind.
Goobertown Hobbies glad you enjoyed it! Your videos are a big inspiration!
Eric, I have been gaming since the 80's and still D&D and 40K today. Mate.... your terrain videos are an absolute inspiration. Lesson : Never leave anything in the recycling bin that might become terrain. You have the eye of an artist and the gung ho attitude that says I'm building this idea and using whatever I have to do it. I'd patreon but am out of work until this virus is done with but rest assured I'll be signing up as soon as possible. Yeez man you even taught Wyloch new techniques.... keep it up buddy. From Nigel In Australia.
These style of wall reminds me of the scenery in the live action Halo 3 Landfall trailer with the UNSC marines and ODSTs fighting the brutes
Man I never thought I'd get this deep into the hobby so fast but after watching your videos you've made some really awesome looking terrain pieces and really highlighted how surprisingly easy the actual process is. It really makes me feel like this is legit something I could just do myself.
YES. The BAM BAM sound effects when doing the blood effects are KEY to getting realism out of it. Well done, Eric! I love the layers to this. Accessible to make for beginners, but with added details that turn it up to 11!!!
I love watching these!! Your design solutions are brilliant.
Alana Lacy Thanks Alana! I’m glad you like them
Just found your channel, so few videos but such high quality. Please keep making content, will spread your work as much as I can.
tt thanks, I appreciate that! Working on the next one right now
Wow ultimate modularity
Kirk Geier Yes! Modularity is the name of the game
Some graffiti would be sweet! Great Build!
I plan to add graffiti as various gangs win matches on the terrain :)
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop thats a cool personal gimmick, keep up the great work!
ROCKIN. YES.
Wyloch's Armory WOW! I feel like I have made it to the big leagues now that Wyloch himself is commenting on my video! Glad you liked it.
I got myself the extruded foam today both 50mm for columns and 25mm for the walls. Man o man, your cutting is so precise. If I've learned one thing today, its precision cuts with a blade are very tough indeed. Am going to hold onto my foam stock and get a wire foam cutter to do this properly.
Harumancer i have many years of pulling out my hair after making terrible cuts to practice. Foam cutter might just be easier
Love the modulatory of this. Great project, well done.
wow very cool - concrete look and pipes - great video
Thanks 👍
"...would be better if I had a hot wire cutter; but I don't." YES!!! You, sir, just moved into my favorites list. Keep it real!!! No wire cutters!!! Most people don't have those at home.
Nicely done.
CrankyPants thanks !
Absolutely fantastic! I'm so grateful that I found your channel before I threw money away onto super expensive mdf stuff. This is exactly the type of project I've been looking for!
Michael Marines Awesome, thats the sort of reaction that I do this for!
These are absolutely top Eric! You nailed that blood splatter. I love the way you paint up the 'crete! The stacked bunker is inspired!
Hi Eric,
I've only just found your channel and I have to say I am amazed with your work Sir, they are simply stunning...
I've never played any game's, nor have I ever built anything like these, I just find watching them extremely interesting and love seeing how you bring everything together from odd bits and bobs to make something that looks amazing when finished...
Please, keep up the great work...
Take care and keep yourself safe...
John...
Well, that's my next project sorted.
Great work mate, and thank you!.
You are very welcome, I really enjoy making these videos. Let me know how your project goes, I’d get a real kick out of seeing your take on it when it’s done
Putting them together to make bunkers is a great idea! Terrain takes up a lot of space, so it's nice to have multiple uses.
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing this. The walls look very realistic.
John Kelley thanks john!!
Still one of the most enjoyable and fun terrain videos made
very easy but amazing look! thanks for sharing!
MultiLordHelmchen Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it
It'd be interesting to see how you store all of your projects.
Very cool btw
Excellent and easy to copy! Totally love the 'how-to' on bits like the blood-splatter and the rusty pipework. Please, please do some more!
Simple, effective, and multiple uses out of it. Very cool!
Brilliant work, thanks so much for the inspiration.
Quick question, could you possibly list the pieces the set needs please? Thanks.
Sure! You need: XPS insulation foam (1”), toothpicks (the round sturdy kind), white pva glue, and acrylic paints. Knives, sandpaper, a pencil and paintbrushes. For the details, I used two sizes of pipes: one was from a bag of cheap pipe building toys from amazon (about $8 for a big bag) and the others were from a novelty “build-a-straw” kit. I also used some plastic traffic signs, street lights and gas station pieces that came with a cheap toy car garage that I will be making into a piece of wargames scenery in a future video, but any little bits of detail you have lying around will look good. I used some styrene stripping and round rod for the little monitor as well. The rest of the pieces (floor tiles, doors, scatter terrain) come from the Necromunda starter set from Games Workshop. In the final shot, I used a plastic platform that I found at a thrift store. I also used some toy barrels that came from a dollar store space shuttle launching set for the final setups. Let me know if I missed anything you were wondering about!
I also used superglue and a hot glue gun!
Eric's Hobby Workshop Thanks, really helpful. One last cheeky question, how many sections altogether and can you possibly list what you made please? (Short, long, corners etc)
Thanks again, I’m trying to get back into tabletop gaming but on a tight budget so this really is perfect.
Reverend Boogie Ah. So, some of the tiles have ruined sections on the flip side that I actually haven’t made yet, so they didn’t make it into the video But the grand totals are: 10 corners + 3 ruined; 7 short pieces; 6 long sections + 1 ruined; 1 long corner; 1 full length section. I made the pieces in batches, and a lot of zone mortalis games don’t use all the tiles, so nothing wrong with building them a few at a time as you need them. I seem to have lost the calculations for how many of the component blocks The project needs, but I made extra anyways. Some were ruined with failed techniques, some were too sloppy to use. The video also omits that some of the longer blocks use a longer component piece that is the length of the door as well.
I love them, so simple and elegant really let's your imagination do the work.
Niiiiice work. Love the paint job. Full of character and usable for so many games. Well done.
Thanks! I should really use them more often
0:11 yoooo it's your channel icon
Inspiring and entertaining. Thanks.
Perfect Underhive terrain. Fast, inexpensive looks great!
Simple and effective, looks great !
Dark Matter Workshop thanks! I wanted to make a good cheap alternative to all the cool mdf sets out there and the official resin tiles
Dude love it how I keep discovering more of your insanely dope videos at random
Hi Eric, I build my own necromunda terrain after I found your channel and i Still get new inspiration from new videos.
That turned out really great man!! Good work!
DitchCricket11 thank you!!
I just purchased under hive and I was wondering how to do this. I just found your video and its excellent!!! very informative. All i need to do now is learn where you got the pipes from. I'm subscribing for sure. keep'em coming.
I am coupling your fantastic method with vinyl floor tiles (charcoal slate, making an underground compound) on EVA foam jigsaw gym mats. Instant flooring for horus heresy zone mortalis. Thanks for all your great content. The Mordheim vids have been amazing for me, as well!
Fuck yes! Finally the video i was looking for!
Sweet very cool
djwagner1972 thanks dj!
Bloody marvelous mate! And i do mean bloody lol
Great build! Easy to follow and good use of bits to give the build some life.
Ryan Yuhr Thanks! The details are the most fun part a lot of the time. This project can really be as fast or advanced as you want
One of my new favorite channels on youtube!
You are the best Erik; thanks you for making Necromunda contents, peace !!❤️
Good one, thanks!!! I'll have to come back and watch it again when I start up my Traveller ship parts.
So simpel and a really good effect. Love it!
Thanks mikael!
Freakin awesome! I'm so doing this for Kill Team Arena.
LegendEternal why not! Glad you liked it
By the Emperor! This is beautiful.
____________ Thanks! I appreciate your comment
I haven’t worked with foam yet, but I think you just inspired me to.
Wow! That's so good looking, yet so simple. I'll totally gonna do it.
Go for it! Send me some pictures on instagram if you are on there
This is absolutely amazing! I like the console in particular.
Thanks! That was one of the most fun parts
Thank you I was looking for some easy cyberpunk scenery.
You are welcome Tony!
Just a tip, instead of using GW Abbadon black, try Revells Schwarz (squared bottle), it covers stuff way better than what GW sells (most Revell stuff does btw)
Sweet video, I’ll definitely be copying this project .
Thanks
Hector Garza Glad you enjoyed it! I would love to see another take on it so please share some pictures when you are done!
This is a great tutorial. I almost think I could do something like this.
You can do anything you set your mind to! Haha
Very cool and inspiration thumbs up
Eric, do you still have the figures for the numbers of walls needed ? Unfortunately, I can't read your text at 1:18 to identify which is which. I'm getting Necromunda UnderHive for Christmas and it'd be handy to have the terrain prepared for then. And as Extruded Polystyrene isn't cheaply available in the UK, I'm going to have to use Expanded Polystyrene sheets and do some praying, cursing and a lot of cleanup afterwards :)
Awesome! Loving these videos.
Thanks danny
You could take your completed control panel and build a push mold (pre-paint) so that you could remake multiple panels. You got a subscriber! Thanks for sharing!
Great idea, been playing around with moulding recently. Maybe something i will feature in a future video
Have you looked at Kill Team Arena? See what you can add to those boards?
Great idea for the new year! Stay tuned
A very good vid, so simple
That was entertaining and cool !! Awesome job !!
Thanks Christopher
Nice work! That control box is to call Killian and order some Cadre Cola!
Adam
Hey just an idea here but some red stripes on the walls or direction arrows woulr help bring those walls to life and help them get tied into the terrain a bit more.
h347h graffiti will be added bit by bit as various gangs win! I added a bog scorch mark against one where i toasted my brothers juve with a heavy flamer in a battle we had. Good times
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop I like the concept of adding details to pieces of terrain as have experiences with them. That's very cool.
Cool! Looking forward to the next video
Anna Rosepeach thanks! I am too :)
The toothpicks and paint is holding it together, white glue doesn't work on foam!
Also really really good paintjob... the weathering looks really natural and simple.
The white glue does dry eventually. I like to think the moisture is sucked into the toothpicks. But yeah, its not ideal as an adhesive for this but i misplaced my tube of liquid nails and was eager to build
Great idea! Looking forward to more.
Amethyst Rose Thank you! Coming soon
Great video, love it!
These are awesome! Such a great look for low cost. Just a few pieces of pink foam and some pipes. Great paint jobs by the way, looks like convincing concrete slabs.
Justin Owens thank you! I was pleased with the effect too
These look extremely good!
Thanks!! Im pretty pleased with em
Awesome tutorial, love the look of the final product ... subscribed
Thanks Paul! Welcome aboard
Excellent vid. Very clever and also well presented.
Thanks jack!
great job!
Thanks Denis
Great Job!
Love this brotha
That's an awesome Tutorial! Thanks for the Inspiration. Gonna try it myself.
Do it! Send me pictures on instagram!
Very cool.
Awesome!!
Ken Lipson glad you liked it!
Your tutorials are very easy to follow and produce great results! I love them all! 😍 Subbed
Thank you! Glad you enjoy
Great
Ever since I got my necromunda box set when it came out I've been tempted to build something like this, but to fully detail them to match the level of paneling/bolts/stuff that's all over the floor. It would be a huge amount of work though, and given how little me and my friends play necromunda I dont feel like I could justify it haha
Martin the Warrior sometimes the pleasure of hobby time is all the justification needed. Sweet terrain inspires more games too!
Just found your channel. I love tge way you do the green of tge computer screen. Also, the straight vertical scoring on the walls mimics the marks from concrete forms really well.
Thanks Ben! Glad you like it
Cool,I like your simple approach and detail's.
Great video. It was encouraging to see a crafter not have a hot wire cutter...makes me more confident about just using utility knife
Fantastic my friend! I’m definitely taking a shot at this. Thanks for great content!
Great video, Eric!
Thank you! Kill for the living, kill for the dead!! LUPERCAL!!!
Looks mint on the board at the end 👍
Too perfect!
Love the info and the techniques being used. I've been looking for a very cheap alternative for my Zone Mortalis Walls! Subbed!
Commander CheapSkate Thanks commander! Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome!
the bottom needs to be a bit more dirty. thats where all the dust would collect the most.
86Corvus maybe? Thats not what my reference pictures show. Would depend on the conditions and environment I suppose. If anything grime would collect in the corners where the walls meet the floor, but since these pieces are modular I couldn’t do that. The fun thing is you can make your own the way you want!
This is really awesome!
Thanks Marten!
Genius! Love it! Looted!
Thanks Karol!
So... I have a suggestion, lets see an updated build for this, how would you improve it from this older build. What would you change?
I ask you this because I selfishly want to see more zone mortalis scratch builds. But honestly, I can't find any on youtube that are better than this.
Some are close to being as good, but really this is allready the best zone mortalis scratch build video that I can find.
Anyway, if you can. If your up for it. I would love to see a revisit to this build, even if all you did was film yourself openly discussing ideas for how you might make it different from the original.
Thanks man.
so awesome
Awesome work, really effective.
Awesome. Thanks so much
Glad you enjoy!!
Absolutely fantastic video!
Your tutorials are amazing. Have you thought about doing some Thundercats' terrain or some Voltron. I think they would give you a challenge? Keep the tutorials coming.
joe hayward i honestly have never watched either of those things, but i will look into em!
