    CB500X rider here. You are spot on. The fun factor with these Honda 500’s is off the scale.
    But when you consider, cheap insurance, maintenance, awesome mpg, etc etc and it’ll do 100mph if required, I won’t be back on a litre bike for the foreseeable future.

    • @dauwg99
      @dauwg99 6 месяцев назад

      I'm riding a Honda FTR223, but am starting to crave more power. Do you think it's powerful enough as a long term bike? My city's highway limits are only 100kmph!

    • @warrenr4
      @warrenr4 6 месяцев назад +1

      Plenty enough for me. Zips up to 100 kph in no time and sits at 130 kph comfortably all day long 🙂✌🏻

      @@warrenr4 Thank you 😃 I'm also thinking about a SV650, but I watched a guy pushing it on a mountain road and it seems like it's nearly too fast to enjoy the acceleration?! In like a second, he was going from 80 to like 120+, which is a bit dangerous.

      For sure man! Perfect step up. 100kph looks to be right at 62mph --- which this bike will ride readily. It'll pull ya more, bit don't expect anything amazing... Likely fair pull till 75-80mph, assume top of ~100mph

    I get my CL500 on Saturday morning I’ve traded my NT 1100 had that a year thoroughly enjoyed it but at nearly 70yrs old is heavy and a bit of a struggle so I now have a Monkey bike and the new CL just for the pure fun and enjoyment and they are Hondas reliable motorcycles 😊🎉

    It's all about smiles per mile,good to see someone enjoying a less powerful bike,I can relate to that.Two years ago I bought a cheap SV650 as a winter hack bike as I was getting my imaculate Street Triple covered in mud on the back lanes around here.Roll on a few months,the roads have dried out but the 'inferior' SV650 has become my Go To bike,I've enjoyed it so much that the other month I bought a zero miles pre reg SV650 to tour around the alps.Sure it's not one for the Power Rangers or forum god's,,but for me it's great fun👍

    When you first unveiled it the name 'Blue Bomber' screamed in my mind, and I still think that could be a great name, considering it could be seen as a natural progression from Hondas original 500cc Black Bomber.
    All you'd need is an old fashioned helmet with the goggles, and a lambswool lined bomber jacket. Retro '50's yeah!

    After 5000km on my XADV I was speeding a lot (power and DCT) so I needed something slower for the city, lighter, cheaper, and more mechanical... I bought a green cl500 in september and I love it. You can ride hard (at the bike's limit) and still be safe, it's a lot of fun...

    I love mine as well, after a hip replacement, my CRF300 Rally had to go, no more off roading, bought this and like yourself nearly every ride in the wet, shifts around a lot 😂, love it, and now done 2.2k, have done a lane and it coped ok, so with better rubber, it may be more competent than I originally thought, it does get under your skin, 🙂 the sun will soon be here🤔, no worries, glad you're enjoying the CL. 👍

    Am debating between the cl500 and the scrambler 400x, I honestly like the looks of the 400x more, but I like the fact that the cl is a twin cylinder, also like the quiet sound of the cl, so after all looks like am going to spend more time riding it then looking at it ,so I think I will go for cl500

    I've had a CB500F since August and I've had months of non-stop rain. Agree with all you say,the least powerful bike I've had for 30 years (I've been riding for 48 years now and never owned a car) and it's great fun. Most of my riding these days is commuting and country lanes and it's plenty quick enough and unbelievably light after over 10 years riding a Bandit,fuel consumption is pretty amazing as well,I seriously thought the fuel gauge must be faulty for the first couple of weeks,my record so far is 120 mpg showing on the mpg indicator at a steady 30 in 3rd gear,late night,empty road ,average speed cameras for a couple of miles.
    Suspension reminds me of the hideous Honda 250G5 "2 wheejed pogo stick" I had and hated back in the 70's and probably it's worse feature but these bikes are made in Thailand where the average local rider won't be much over 10 stone....and I am.......much over. Exhaust note isn't bad at all on the X and living in a built up area and not getting home from work at 11.30 pm I do have a bit of consideration for others.
    If I was buying new I'd have got the X as it's a bit roomier,or now the CL which wasn't available back then.
    Name for the CL? How about Celia?

    After three decades of litre bikes I "downgraded" to a Rebel 500 three years ago and I rarely had as much fun on a bike. I just dislike the dash and the seat. Can't go on impromptu 500km weekend trips on a "saddle" like this, but aside from that, it's all you need and more. Smiles per mile the Honda 500s are unbeatable.

    I reckon you should call the bike " The Wheel Barrow" the right hand view with the exhaust pipe makes it look like a builders wheelbarrow handle. And your comments on its handling, Lead me to say " It handles like a wheel barrow full of wet concrete" You have to keep a firm hold of it or you will loose it. LOL. Safe riding Mr Fish.

    Looks so much like the 1980s CB350sg. I don't hate on this bike, but just send like my 23 cb500f had better headlight, suspension, brakes, instrument and very roomy upright riding position. With a much larger range, less filling up when commuting. I loved those tyres on my 20 plate cb500x, pushed them hard in all weather's as an all year round rider. I know some don't like them, but I thought they were excellent. Pleased you're enjoying the bike👍
