As a Rafan, I have to admit this will probably go down as the most consequential match in big 3 history. I genuinely think had Nadal won this and extended his lead in the slam race to 21-18 he wouldn't have been caught until maybe 2024.
Yeah that drop shot Djokovic hit down set point 5-6 in the 3rd set, was definetely the most important point in tennis history; if Nadal had won that, the surely would have won the match, the title and at 21-18 in GS maybe could have been mentally difficult for Djokovic to pass Nadal, like he finally did in 2023. Who knows, but 20-19 instead of 21-18 set the fire and motivation for Djokovic to continue fighting and believe he could overcome both Nadal and Federer, which he did. I was there with my girlfriend, it was such an awesome moment when the curfew was supposed to take place at 11:00 pm but the authorities let us stay till the match finished. The atmosphere was amazing, what a match that was to see in real live.
Despite being 5-0 up in the first set it was Djokovic who looked more comfortable in this match. Nadal was going for too much outrageous winners every time. He almost wasted that 5-0 lead and was facing deuce from 40-0 up on 5-3 game. This gave Djokovic a confidence to fight and play his natural game. Nadal also looked too much exhausted in the second and third set. That missed easy volley in tie breaker of third set still haunts. As a Rafa fan I can surely say that this was one of the toughest loss he had in his career along with Wimbledon 2018 & AO 2012.
What if Rafa had converted the SP in the 3rd set! But then again, there can be a lot of if's. Novak was the deserved winner from where he came back after going 0-5 down in the opening set.
Wow Novak's serve looks a bit different here compared to his current serve even though this was just 3 years ago. It's amazing how he's been able to constantly improve his game throughout his career !
Both times Nadal been beaten here by Djokovic (‘15 and ‘21) its more him beating himself, worst szn in 15 and injured in 21. I would say the same had Nadal beaten Djokovic on hard court in 2017/ early 2018 with Djokovics injuries
When ever Nadal lose His fans Nadal is injected or not playing good. And Nadal never won against Novak in hard court in last 11 years. 2014-2024 H2h Clay 5-7 Novak won 5 matches out of 12 on clay. Hard 10-0 Grass 1-0.
What do you mean almost has him? Rafa won sets one and three 6-2, was then up 3-0 in the second set, and then won the fourth winning 5 of the last 6 games…
Amazing to see how law of averages get you. Nadal was not himself during this day with so many double faults and unfroced errors with the backhand. So similar to how Djokovic was not himself against Sinner at AO2024. Seems like to beat them at their fav slam, one player has to be slightly off and other has to switch on the God mode. Even Novak described this as one of his top 3 grand slam performances ever.
Tell Nadal about this law because he really needs it. He NEVER beat Djokovic in Australian Open. He didn't even win a single set on Hard-court against Djokovic since 2013. The law of average discriminate with Nadal. 🤣🤣
Novak lost the first 5 games of the match and won the last 6 games , here is the thing at least Novak has the guts to face Nadal on his favorite surface and always knows that he has a chance against him to either win the match or at least take a set , while Nadal outside clay either loses to all kinds of lower ranked player and doesn’t get to face Novak , either avoids to play Novak cuz he know he has no chance against him outside clay , hasn’t won a set on hc in more than a decade while in the same period Novak beat him 5 times on his beloved clay 😂😂😂

@@Ben6164 He has won 8 Slams outside of clay. So he's had a fruitful career. 14 titles on the toughest surface in the sport is an astonishing achievement.
Nole is a mental beast. Imagine having a terrible record againt dopal in RG and still making yourself to play your best. Truly never give up mentality.
Anyone who says Nadal was injured in this match is absolutely blind
Not blind, they cope so hard😂
This match sealed the GOAT debate. Novak never runs away from Rafa on clay/RG on the other hand Rafa has been avoiding Novak off clay in recent years. They have met at RG 10 times but only twice at AO. Novak has defeated Nadal twice at RG. Nadal has never beaten Novak at AO.
If they met in Australia open 2017 and 2018 Djokovic would lost in straight sets to rafa. .
Haha good joke. Again my point is Novak was stopped most of the times at RG only by Rafa the greatest clay player. But the same cannot be Rafa at AO. Rafa hasn't given his best efforts at AO and WB in recent years. It's pretty evident from the numbers
@@Laland_1196Also, reg ur straight sets comment, Just another stats for you. Rafa hasn't won a set on HC against Novak since 2013. 9 matches 19 sets won by Novak
@@akshayshankar6370 thats why I mentioned his 2017 and 2018 years, you genius .. Djokovic defeated rafa in both clay and hard many times from 2015-16 so if they met in Australia or any hard or grass from 2017 -18 he not only take a set but beat him in straight sets that year is my point because that's nole weak year and Rafa prime year along with federer
@@Laland_1196 if if if doesnt exist said by Rafa years back
Merci beaucoup !!! Un match incroyable 🔥❤️
Amazing 3rd set tie-break. Nole got only 2 easy points from Nadal’s errors; he had to construct his own 5 points from winners or forced error. On the other hand, Nadal got 3 easy first points from Nole’s unforced errors, but he could hit only 1 winner afterwards.
Please add the 2009 Nadal-Soderling match.. There is no full match and extented highlight in youtube..
are you kidding me? nadal 1st of 3 loss in RG and we cant see how he lost or how to beat in prime Nadal.. Everyone can beat Nadal in RG in this age but not those days...@@Laland_1196
@@Laland_1196 in 2009 Rafael Nadal's prime time.. and 1 of the 3 loss and 1st loss of Roland Garros. Unexpected loss and Soderling played like Nadal in that match.. i just want to see it but no video of that match in youtube... its not boring...
@@deniz1420 2009 rafa prime ended in Indian Wells .in claycourt he just played 80 percent and loss to Federer in Madrid 2009 and his parents divorce is the reason for his poor latter 2009 season and Roland Garros defeat ..but soderling played well that day and Nadal not played like 2008 or 2010 that time
I was there with my girlfriend, it was such an awesome moment when the curfew was supposed to take place at 11:00 pm but the authorities let us stay till the match finished. The atmosphere was amazing, what a match that was to see in real live.
that missed volley at 3-4 in the third set tiebreak for Rafa will always haunt me. I'm sure him as well. I remember screaming when he missed it live
After the AO 2019 final this comes next as a special match for me
Despite being 5-0 up in the first set it was Djokovic who looked more comfortable in this match. As a Rafa fan I can surely say that this was one of the toughest loss he had in his career along with Wimbledon 2018 & AO 2012.
by this match, Novak prove that he is one of the best player ever on the clay court.
Новак лучший теннисист планеты🎉
pls schwartzman vs thiem rg 2020 qf
We want this in 2024. Who is with me??
Nadal is not good enough to go deep in Roland Garros
What if Rafa had converted the SP in the 3rd set!
But then again, there can be a lot of if's. Novak was the deserved winner from where he came back after going 0-5 down in the opening set.
3:08:40 Greatest lob ever
Rafa wasn't injured here. Rafa fan were and still are.

Djoko's biggest win against nadal
Wow Novak's serve looks a bit different here compared to his current serve even though this was just 3 years ago. It's amazing how he's been able to constantly improve his game throughout his career !
Both times Nadal been beaten here by Djokovic (‘15 and ‘21) its more him beating himself, worst szn in 15 and injured in 21. I would say the same had Nadal beaten Djokovic on hard court in 2017/ early 2018 with Djokovics injuries
When ever Nadal lose
His fans Nadal is injected or not playing good.
And Nadal never won against Novak in hard court in last 11 years.
2014-2024
H2h
Clay
5-7
Novak won 5 matches out of 12 on clay.
Hard
10-0
Grass
1-0.
Nah he was completely healthy here, give Novak his flowers
How can he play 4hours with injury lol?
Only got injured when all hope was lost... wonder how would be that injury if he converted set point at 6:5
lol even Zverev owns Nadal at the Roland Garros
Having watched a lot of Federer Nadal Djokovic Federer matches over 15 years, I will put this one in the TOP 5 matches of Tennis i ever watched.
the third set is the best set of tennis ever
Enfin merci 👍👍👍
He almost had him in 2022 as well. Novak has definitely figured out Nadal on clay.
What do you mean almost has him? Rafa won sets one and three 6-2, was then up 3-0 in the second set, and then won the fourth winning 5 of the last 6 games…
@@Olly_2024_Djokovic was 5-2 up in the 4th. It's the same as RG 2021, but Nadal clinched the 3rd set in 2022, just like Novak the year before.
@@Olly_2024_ djokovic lead 5-2 in the 4th set and missed a set-point. Weird of you not to understand, or maybe you are a Big Rafa-fan.
@@Olly_2024_Cry more Olly Djokovic destroyed a peak Nadal the year before. Djokovic is the greatest player and highest level of tennis of all time.
#NovakDjokovic just proved that he can beat Nadal on his favourite surface #clay #rolandgarros #nolefam ❤
this 3rd set was EPIC tennis
This umpire is awesome. Three successful corrections in two and a half sets.
3:18:03 was a match point for Rafa.
Nadal made more errors in the first set here than he did in the whole 2020 final.
YES!! Finally!
Novak Djokovic ❤
Third set is the best they played against each other
你永远是最棒的❤
Rafael Nadal N01 gentilman talented honesty handsham player in the world forever ever
Because Djokovic forced Nadal to make those errors lol
This is the level Alcaraz hasn't achieved yet. How many slams can he win in the golden era?
Nadal seemed out of breath at the end of the second. Went for crazy winners he usually doesn’t go for, and didn’t got the brake because of that
Incredible match, quite high level of tennis. I'm surprised by Nadal's clear OCD, very very surprised.
🐐broke Nadal in 2015 Roland Garros he hasn't been the same
When I watched it live, I did NOT notice the commentators' bias. I do now
Novak lost the first 5 games of the match and won the last 6 games , here is the thing at least Novak has the guts to face Nadal on his favorite surface and always knows that he has a chance against him to either win the match or at least take a set , while Nadal outside clay either loses to all kinds of lower ranked player and doesn’t get to face Novak , either avoids to play Novak cuz he know he has no chance against him outside clay , hasn’t won a set on hc in more than a decade while in the same period Novak beat him 5 times on his beloved clay 😂😂😂
