This is the first tennis match I ever watched on TV from start to finish. I was 12 at the time. I had seen Djokovic play parts of his matches throughout the year until that point, and I knew he was basically unbeatable that year. This was the first time I ever saw Federer play though, and my jaw dropped from seeing how he basically outplayed Djokovic for large parts of this match, while looking so amazingly smooth. Roger Federer: The Djokovic streak killer. -2011 undefeated streak -2012-2014 China winning streak -2012-2015 indoor hardcourt winning streak All ended by Federer’s racket.

2011 French open and 2019 Wimbledon were two slams where Roger played exceptional tennis and still finished just short both times. If anything he could have actually won both matches in straight sets if you actually watched both matches. Its a shame that he couldn't finish points when it mattered most but thats life i guess.
His Wimbledon peak is 2003-2008. 2010s+ Roger Federer was in his 30s with back issues. Djoker and Nadal outlasted him in the age department because they are health and fitness nuts. In my opinion, Federer is the greatest of all time due to just how well he did with the issues he had. You can't tell me a 35 year old Federer was as fit and healthy as a 35 year old Djoker, those green smoothies made Djoker stronger, so purely talent wise, I do think Federer was the greatest of all time, but it drives the Djoker fans insane.
No peak Djokovic here, he was dominating but wasn't peak, he didn't slice back then, he didn't drop shot, he didn't volley, and he wasn't mentally stonger. He had won 43 straight matches but he only had 2 GS to show for, while Federer had... 16? Federer was the better player in this match, as he was also in Wimbledon 2019, difference was in one of the matches he won all the tie breakers and in the other one he lost all of them.
Definitely one of my all time favorite matches somehow. I was nailbiting for Novak so much and was so impressed on the other hand how Roger played especially in the third set. Even Roger played greater matches during his career, this win was one of the sweetest for sure! Just to end up losing against Nadal, because his tank must’ve been empty as hell after that match.
Fed honestly did Nadal a favour because Novak was in Nadal’s head mentally after already beating him in all the clay masters that they played in leading up to RG. Not saying Novak would have beaten Nadal for sure, but Novak would have fancied his chances for sure.
For me, Federer and Djokovic are the two goats because each of them is capable of defeating the other while he is at his best. Federer defeated and pushed Djokovic out of his comfort zone in France, and he almost did it in America, and Djokovic defeated Federer many times at Wimbledon.
Just looked it up in the stats. Djokovic lost 6 matches this season, but this one actually was the only one where he wasnt dealing with injury problems
It was the clear case of getting outplayed. Prime Roger and Prime Nole are basically the same. They are very comparable. Hardly a difference in terms of tennis genius
We've successfully bullied Roland Garros into uploading full matches of recent classics 😅 I dont know why sports organizations are so stingy with their old IP. Maybe it dates back to when they could sell box set VHS and DVDs, but those are obsolete now, and no one is gonna pay for a dogital copy of a sporting event. Maybe one day, UEFA will do the same with Champions League matches
The way these commentators in the beginning underestimate Federer is quite astounding. Federer did Nadal a big favor. Beating Djokovic who was like a beast, with a streak of 41 matches that year, with a streak of 4 victories against Nadal, and beating him only a few weeks ago in clay, I think that mentally Nadal was more at a disadvantage against Djokovic, Although Nadal is indomitable here, I think that Djokovic beating Federer could win the title. Just imagine Djokovic winning this Roland Garros and then ends up winning the 4 majors, dealing a very hard blow to Nadal. In a way, I think Nadal preferred to face Federer in the final this year, since mentally at that time there was a mental advantage, and in fact that was the case in that final. With all due respect to the big three, I'm a Fed fan
Yeah but Federer's BH wing cannot sustain a five-set onslaught by Rafa at RG. We saw what happened when Nadal went 5 with Djo in 2013 -- winners from any and everywhere. Fed was never winning the final. If it was the 2015 version of Nadal, then yeah.

What's crazy is that this might have prevented Djokovic THE Grand Slam in 2011. Djokovic defeated Nadal in their previous two clay meeting. Insane.
"The legendary match"❤ after 12 yrs finally 😅 Non prime vs Prime 🎉.
FINALLY
Back when Federer won tiebreakers against djokovic
Heheheheh. He really became allergic after 2015, innit? ;-)

watch Novak inbetween points...clearly getting coaching signals from his team
lol that partly is why Roger didn’t like him, plus the parents, and the impressions
With all due respect to the big three, I'm a Fed fan
yeah shame in this day of tech and bandwidth that you couldn't show it in 50fps as broadcast!!! GRRRRRR
Just watching the first set . The commentators are so decided that Fed is going to lose the match !!!
The day Federer saved the legacy of Nadal, who was 7-0 vs Djokovic in finals that year including clay.
@@ClayenRedbricks2034 but Djokovic beat Rafa in straight sets Madrid and Rome that year, now you must say Rafa was injured then 🤣🤣
@@virat5828Virat the ultimate Djokovic Stan
Nadal is RG on Final is another level
Federer gave Nadal the best birthday gift he ever got
3:06:39 does a ghost whisper "double fault" lol
WOW!
If Roger went on to beat Rafa in the final, this would've been the most impressive title of his entire career tbh
Oh my god , players has his dominance and his falls it happens with every players
Quick make Federer top of mind again because Novak is winning everything…. Where’s the full Nadal 2021 vs Djokovic match being uploaded like you promised? You’ve had the 2020 one up for ages and that wasn’t even a good match in comparison.
Nice Timeline 2011…hardly no iPhones to see every minute..thought !!!🤔🤔🤗
Two best players ever and the place is empty.

Novaks best surface that year was clay as he beat Nadal in Madrid and Rome finals, unfortunately he was stopped in his tracks by Roger Federer
