❤I think the noisy daytimes by humans and their machines inhibit us from hearing and appreciating the sounds of birds and insects. Hearing the sounds of birds, insects, chicken, cows in this video has reminded me of the magnitude of nature.
This video has brought tears in my eyes😢. I miss home, I miss being a kid with few worries like how am gonna survive bathing with cold water as the mosquitoes bites me😂. And the soup 😘😘The soup , nyarjapuonj! You have really "walked" in that soup n then topping the whole meal with osuga....a meal to die for😘😘 Perfekt video for a lazy weekend 👌🏽👌🏽
In Zimbabwe we eat ugali too as a staple but we call it sadza in Shona. Most southern Africans eat it too but we cook it a little softer and not so thick. It’s known as pap by most southerners. Your village is just gorgeous 😍
your videos are so inspiring. One of these days I would like to come and visit the set.🥰. I always relax watching your videos. Good job Jael and thanks to You tube for recommending you.
Hi there, I am enjoying your episodes. I have not experienced a village life, although I was born there. My father worked for the government. So my mum, my older sister and I (was 2 yrs old) left the village to go to the capital city to join father. That was almost 5 decades ago. But the good thing was we always went back to the village when my father was on his recreation leave (after 2 years). I really enjoyed those times. Now I am almost retiring and am planning to settle back in the village. I follow your site because it has helped me so much on my preparation and settlement in a new environment and how to adapt to the village life and the people. Warm regards.
Your home is very beautiful, very calming videos..The way you narrate. ..its very amazing and peaceful. I miss the sound of cows mooing as they head back to the homestead, the silence in the village in the evening, and the sounds of frogs down the stream become more louder...lndeed nature is Amazing...
Jambo Jael🥰. Thank you for sharing your evening with us! The sounds in your atmosphere are still serene in the evenings. There is a beauty that surrounds nature that is calming even when it’s loud. Ugali was the first food that I asked about when I talked with my Bungoma family. I always wanted to try to make it but I don’t have a wooden paddle😂🤣😂. Your meal looked very inviting. Like how you and your sisters gathered for your evening meal. Family communication is very important. I remember your vlog of the family gathering to celebrate members moving to the US. I enjoy watching your vlogs always. Mungu akubariki 💜🙏🏾🫶🏾🌺🙋🏾♀️
Jael, this has got to be one of my favorite videos from you! Oh, gal, those evening sights, sounds, and smells in the tropical African rural area, what can I say! And you sounded so poetic, have you ever considered publishing some prose or poetry? We made our Ugali like you do yours but sometimes, just to give it a different taste and flavor, we made it ahead of time and then wrapped it in banana leaves and steamed it in a saucepan on the Jiko. And for our Tilapia, we either had it fresh in a stew like the one you made (fish fresh, not fried before stewing), or we had it smoked and then added it to a peanut sauce. Too delish! Question: 1. You milk your cows twice a day: if they produce more milk than you can use in your household, what do you do with the extra, do you sell it? 2. It is a hot dry season over there; if you run out of water in that water tank, what do you do for domestic water needs? Thanks for a great video. I love the variation in your content.
Thank you so much. We don't sell the extra milk. I use it to make ghee, cheese, cream and other milk products. We have a well that never dries up. It helps other villagers, too, in the dry seasons.
Its amazing how you manage to keep your lawn firm and green with the cows grazing. Normally their hooves and constant grazing keep the area muddy. How do you manage this?
I envy you living in such a beautiful country. True joy is found in the lap of nature. So diffrent yet we are so similar..I ,too love rural life. My hometown is a mix of both rural and urban.loved your home.
Nice video. The meal is similar to Jamaican and American dishes, that was amazing to see. But they are called by different names. Question, why are the cows milked at night? Thank you 😊
You have a gorgeous place. I'm sure you've put a lot of work and love to it to get it that way. If you don't mind, how long has it taken you to make it look that beautiful?
I really enjoy your videos, Jael! May God bless you and your family. I like your observation about the chickens going to the coop. Even they know there’s safety there.
That was a real treat and a generous welcome to spend the evening with you. Loved the experience. Awakened so many memories. Very therapeutic. Many thanks.
How beautiful is your place Jael, the plants and the animals in your compound and the sound of whistling trees, birds and everything else it is pure relaxing, I can watch this video all day long. Thanks for sharing ❤😊
I really love your videos so much. I am African American and I have recently purchased land in Africa in the mountains. I hope to have a very nicely landscaped area like yours some day. I just love looking at your videos and dreaming of my potential future. I really love all of your trees and flowers and the sounds. All of it is just so peaceful. I feel you are very blessed and I hope that I can pass this down to my children and someday they can appreciate it. Thank you so much for your videos. They inspire me everyday to keep chipping away at my dream. 🥰
How is it odd for someone to buy land in Africa? It's amazing coz even the west bring us revenue by people coming to see our beautiful continent. You've already heard he bought in the mountains and that's where nature is real. Welcome to Africa my friend we grow old together. And in the contrary even our people in Africa go as far as buying the land in diaspora,it depends with one's taste
Of course you will enjoy it,queen! Your descendants will have great property to remember you by. I feel really blessed to be living this quiet life with sounds of nature and not sirens, automobiles, guns and all.
I didn't mention which of the 54 countries I bought in because the most important part to me was that I was able to go home to the motherland of my ancestors. It doesn't matter which country you choose, just matters that your soul is happy. I smile each morning I wake, reminding myself I own land in Africa for my children to return when they are ready. Every morning I smile knowing whenever I want to I can go home now🥰@@bonniek20
Am here enjoying my therapy as usual. I make fish stew without deep frying it then at the end I add coconut milk/cream. I didn't grow up in the village but I have relatives who do. I always look forward to traveling there to cook with firewood, eat fruits directly from the tree (last December I ate plams and peaches 🍑 from the trees,) I love the view and sound of animals like cows and chicken, fresh food, the sunsets are always beautiful etc
I look forward to your videos weekly. I get so excited when you post. I want to be a homesteader and you're inspiring me. When I do make the move, I will plan to visit. Ugali brown, mboga kienyeji and tilapia is my request. Keep it up. Thanks.
In Jamaica we make something very similar to the Ugali. We call it Tun Cornmeal. It's made with cornmeal, coconut milk, scallion, thyme, butter, salt and sugar. It's mostly eaten with fish.
I love the warm, nostalgic vibe around your home. It reminds me of my childhood. The cottage style home I grew up in had a front porch similar to yours and our yard was lush abd green, with many fruit trees. So lovely ..😍
I'm always surprised by how much parts of Africa look like Australia. We don't eat ugali in Australia but fish and seafood are very popular and we eat it in many ways - fried and served with potato chips is popular as a take-away meal. I pan fry it, make it into south-east asian type curries, mix the flesh with potato or sweet potato and herbs and shape into patties which I then fry in a pan. So enjoying your vlogs.
Hello 👋🏾. Oh the peace and quiet of the village ❤. If you invest in the fine mesh for your windows you maybe able to open them in the evening and enjoy the breeze.
