first things first Jael we who love and have been your subscribers for long will never complain about seeing you in the videos, this videos are about you and your country living, i also know that some of the other people may not be comfortable in front of a camera all the time, you stick to doing what you love and we will always support you.
Jael bonjour. You are a hard worker and Í'm glad your work is getting noticed. There is always people that complain, you can't please all the people all the time So do what makes YOU happy. Happy Easter.
Gal! Ignore the haters, you cannot please everyone and especially the negative Nancy's! Your channel says "Jael of the village" not "Jael and family" Keep doing you and showing your life as is, don't alter it to please them. I enjoy watching ALL your videos and hope you keep the same format ❤ Love from a Kenyan in Florida. I really love the true home life you depict which brings nostalgic memories for those of us in the diaspora. #weloveyoujael 🎉❤
Jael love your videos and don't change for anyone! fellow country girl and i know what you mean by the sounds of the country side! keep it up! God bless you
Another way to intercrop is beans with Bananas (Cooking bananas) and beans with coffee. Beans are legumes and legumes replenish nutrients like nitrogen in the soil which is needed for good plant growth but is depleted by other crops. You can also plant beans, pumpkins, and maize together (intercrop) because these plants complement each other.
I love your videos Jael, so therapeutic and i learn so much from you. May god keep blessing the work of your hands. Happy Easter to you and your family.
Hi Jael, you could try to use the lower part of the lemongrass to prepare soups, and curries. Can also use it on roasted meats to give a citrus taste. I sometimes cook it with my egg noodles with chicken or prawns, adding my spices, ginger, garlic and coconut milk. Very good especially when feeling poorly, helps to boost appetite. Loving your vlogs kama kawa.
Please dont change anything to please a stranger. I love your content,so natural and original👌 Lemon grass is very healthy, i use it when i make smoothies, especially a Mango and banana smoothie with a scoop of LG powder❤I remember growing up my dad used a saw that looks like question mark to cut off pyrethrum which you can use when cutting lemon grass instead of scissors. Not sure whether they still keep them in hardware stores
In Jamaica we call the lemon grass....fever grass....and yes it makes a delicious tea. You are so right about the freshly made teas being way better than tea bag.
Jambo Jael 🥰. Another delightful vlog. I was waiting for more as you washed the lemongrass! 😂. I love the smell of it. I use the oil in my diffuser. I also grow some in a pot on my front porch. I grow it and citronella to keep mosquitoes away. I am looking forward to you explaining how to turn it into powder and drink with tea. I like tea and coffee. I purchase Kenya coffee from the Limiri Farm in Meru. It’s delicious! I have tea that was grown in Kenya but I purchase it from a US company. I enjoy watching you in your garden. I plan to put a few things in containers. Abundant blessings to you! 💜🙏🏾🫶🏾🥰🌺
Happy to watch your videos @Jael. You are inspiring a lot. With the short rains I have planted maize intercropped with beans then a small piece we have put two different types of vegetables: kales and cow peas. Patiently waiting for more rains and harvest🎉
Hi Jaled, you can use it when cooking stews especially white soups. If you boil bones, or goat head, you can add lemon grass to enhance the flavors. Don’t cut it in small pieces, rather wrap it as a bundle
Watching this as I get dressed to go outside and pull weeds! I'm on 7 acres on the rainy side of my island and the weeding is neverending. It's just a part of life like washing your dishes or doing laundry. Do you just compost all of your yard waste (weeds, branches, leaves, etc) in one big pile? And do you ever add new soil or mulch to your beds after you weed them, to replace some of the dirt that gets pulled away with the weeds? Thank you for the inspiring videos and aloha from Hawai'i! 🌱 EAT YOUR YARD! 🌱
Yes,I pile the weeds in a pit where they decompose for later use. I apply compost during planting. I will add in a few weeks when they're just about to fruit.
This is so delightful. I grew up like this small house small plot but planting, weeding, harvesting. Plant pigeonpeas ( Congo beans ) bountiful and tasty.
Jael, I love your videos! They are so soothing and relaxing...and, Oh! so enticing! I hope you don't mind me asking this question. So many of us are putting off moving to the village even though our soul cries out for it only because we may not have a realistic idea of how to pull it off. Maybe some of us are ready and just don't know it! My question is, just how much of a passive monthly income should one aim for to sustain a comfortable life like yours in the village. That is, regular income that is not from a job. (Maybe investments or pensions etc.) And I mean a life very much like yours. With a paid off house, some land to grow food and have a few animals, for sustenance (assuming one is not going to do any commercial farming), and enough to operate a reasonable car for transportation. Also, with some regular help around the house and the yard. Ranges would be perfect! You don't have to give specifics if you would rather not! For example, would the range be 50k to 100k? 100k to 150K? 150k to 200k? Or more? Thanks so much for your inspiring videos Jael! They are always such a breath of fresh air!
That will depend on a lot of factors. If you have school going kids, projects etc. The only bill I pay here is electricity bill. Internet is prepaid. I grow most of my vegetables and keep chicken for eggs and meat and cows for milk, 2 permanent workers. The rest I hire on need basis. I don't travel a lot. Most of my trips are to the farms and market which are not so far away. On home maintenance we use roughly around 100k
Thank you for this. I have a lemon grass plant for tea but didn't know how to care for it. Please show us what the dried leaves look like and what they are used for. I always cut a few leaves and boil fresh.
Lemongrass the steam from the root, very flavorful, great with beans, fish soup, Thai curries simple to make, goes well with milk cuisines and rice blessings
When I started watching your videos you had less than 10,000 followers, the growth has been rapid. Glad to hear it. Greetings, Carlos Arengas Barranquilla-Colombia.
Keep up the amazing work Jael! It can’t be easy at times doing everything by yourself but there’s probably less distractions while working solo. Besides your perseverance is admirable!

You can put lemongrass in rice or soup. And you can mix the powder with your favorite lotion
Oh,thank you. I didn't know about adding it to lotions. I'll search for its benefits on skin.
