Hi Ran, thanks for the feedback this is crystal clear, and yeah it is frustrating to be checking a lot of emails. Hopefully this would be useful to double check or redesign the whole thing before trying to apply for further jobs!
I applied for an internship and the job got given to someone who had 10 years of experience working in the design industry. I thought the point of an internship was to hire someone with not a lot of experience to help them gain some? Also, I didn't learn that employers were wanting to hire people who have made their own websites until my last year at college right when my course was going to finish. We had some visitors who worked in the design industry and they told us that they would look for people who have had experience in either web design or web development. Luckily, I had made my own website for a cafe that I worked at, but no one else in my college course had and they were gutted by this news. As far as I am aware I am the only person out of my college class to get a design job.
That’s both crazy and unfortunate for the others. But I can’t wrap my head around the fact that so many people went to a graphic design college and didn’t bother to set up a website. Maybe they were not techy enough but considering they were in college, they must have had some experience. Anyways, don’t think you’re expecting a reply after 3 years
nice advice! But what is wrong with behance? I think it would be a better advantage if you send your behane portrofolio because maybe you were featured there or have a decent following and that would be a bonus. I think websites are good if you want to apply for a web design job.
im curious if degree really matters? becuase i have an accounting master's degree, but im thinking about getting a graphic design certificate. is it possible to get a decent designer job with a certificate? thanks!
The CV is more of a about you, and helps put in perspective what kind of person or what level the person is currently standing at. The portfolio is what the person is capable of making.
Hey, are there any good design/graphic books with examples and inspiration you could recommend ? I am in the beginning of my apprenticeship as a digital media designer and want some extra lessons ;-) Would be really nice, if you could give me some advice
overhead photography or design is good but its dull. feels like we need another way to show our stuff. what I do is focus on the main need for the redesign or rebrand, etc and explain.
Good pointers. Although as someone who preached saving time, you sure repeated yourself and dragged out your answer. Just a tip back as a viewer! I appreciate the video.
Love your videos, but v. Small pet peeve when you talk about designers you usually say ‘he’ rather than just ‘they’. Both make grammatical sense and I personally believe that small things like this reenforce any existing misogyny within the industry. Especially on a subliminal level. It’s a small change but I guarantee you ANY female designer or director who’s seen your vids has noticed it. x
The advice about the work it was very helpful , thank you for that , now your comment about who you get attracted to is pretty unnecessary and border some sexism. Act more professional . Your channel is viewed for many young people . Stick with what your channel should be about it , unless you doing a personal relationship RUclips channel . One more thing . ATTITUDE COUNTS A LOT . SO START TO CHECK YOURS.
Can you show us some portfolio example to put out for a job? Thank you.
Important words
This was probably the most tense 11min video you ever shot. Awesome advice 👍

Soo true! Those are the basics you learned even back in Design school
Having a website as a designer is absolutely not necessary when there are things like dribbble or behance, yes its a nice bonus but not necessary.

How to apply graphic designer jobs in Europe
im curious if degree really matters? becuase i have an accounting master's degree, but im thinking about getting a graphic design certificate. is it possible to get a decent designer job with a certificate? thanks!
Degree doesn't really matter. As long as you are good at designing you will get a job. Just be confident with your work.
This comment section boosts my confidence
Why the CV still matters ? the folio is not enough?
The CV is more of a about you, and helps put in perspective what kind of person or what level the person is currently standing at. The portfolio is what the person is capable of making.
Very informative! :D
Love this channel, thanks for all the great videos @Flux
Thanks Jonathan!
Heyy Ran, Awesome content! Why don't you begin a web series where you check your viewers portfolio to give them some feedback?
+Youssri Kouchih hey man, thanks for the idea but it would probably bore me pretty fast
You could do a single video though. ?
Can you add some dampening to reduce the echo?

A decent website you mean a website made by me?Cause I'm looking for an internship in UI/UX Design and I'm thinking about just sending my Behance.
yeah, behance works.. (also a website made by you would be better)
Thanks!Just cause I'm not comfortable with coding(html, css, javascript) and I'm on a rush for a internship.

Yes, the skill of visual design is much different than the skill of spoken communication, isn't it? :)

Would you hire a palestinian from Gaza?
Sure!
I've never been attracted to a woman so I didn't follow that example...
He also keeps saying 'he'
honestly if their work is great i wouldn't mind if they have website or not

You sure about that? I don’t think anyone below the age of 15 would be watching these videos.
