These movies are so much fun to watch when I'm Stoned...Daily, that is...
I love that futuristic spaceship. I also love the innocence and wonder of all of those 1950's Sci - Fi Movies. Too Cool !!
I feel badly for the people criticizing this series. They are unable to view these tv shows and films from the perspective of when they were produced. I’ve enjoyed reminiscing.
The Magic of PizzaFLIX
Agreed. For the time in which this series ran, this was a rather superior production.
Forget them, they are looking for things to whine and cry 😭😂 about
Me too! 😀
F**k 'em
Shows like this are the beginning of science fiction on TV!!! Should be viewed at least once, if only for the historical value...
I used to watch this stuff as a kid back in the fifties. It was inspiring to me to see that I witnessed Apollo 11 at 20. I still remember these old attempts to promote space exploration during the Cold War.
3 years after this movie came out, Sputnik 1 was in orbit and the US had egg all over its face over the subsequent failed launch of Vanguard 1. But NASA had to do a crash program to catch up with the Soviet Union with the launch of Explorer 1 on January 31, 1958...
Best old films use to watch them with my dear old Dad when I was boy God bless him, miss them days thanks for upload
I love these 1950s Sci-Fi movies..Thank you for posting.
When i was 5 i used to watch this on saturday mornings back in 1959. It was cool. Thank you for putting it on.😁
1950s sci fi wouldn't be complete without a crew of a grand dad scientist, a kid, a woman wearing a cape and a crew of men wearing caps. The only things missing are a pipe smoker, wooden cabinets, a leather couch and multiple rooms on the same deck. Love it.
No leather couch but they do have some comfy Barcaloungers.
I love the cape.

Good one !
Right at the beginning, and the sports car driving scene, it shows Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles. I have some pics of my brothers and I taken on the grounds right in front of the Observatory in 1967, when I was 9 years old. My first time viewing this, really like these old sci-fi pics!
I just love these old sci fi movies. Thank you for sharing.

Hokey smokes Bullwinkle,I couldn't believe they still have this old stuff hanging around, they even have a kid pilot at the age of nine they call Bobby, this must go back to when I was just born in the 50s
Are you a real bad girl 👀?"
You just gotta love the classic’s 👍 made me smile 😃
I love watching old movies like this movie
Hey don't knock it. This is/was my childhood and I had the toys. Wish things were so simple these days.
hey, mister wilson this is dennis calling you from venus. ........mr wilson..........oh great scott martha it is dennis calling from outer space................ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
So much trash in these comments. So sad. These may be lame to y'all , and by today's standards are corny, but in '53, very little was known about space, and who said science fiction movies have to be accurate or realistic??? These are just fun to watch.---- Thanks for posting.
Oh, the car is a 1953-56 Grantham Star Dust. Only a handful were built.
Agreed!!! :D
PizzaFlix's channel, w/ Rocky Jones films and Sherlock Holmes series, is one of the best channels I've come across for ages! :D
I love these old shows!
"Please don't feed the trolls" lol
Agreed. these stories are about the people and the adventures and they mysteries about space and not scientific accuracies. no need to be picky and find fault. just enjoy the story or watch something else- like wwe wrestling. nothing
I agree. It's just pure entertainment.
Memories of this show were one of the last remaining mysteries of my early childhood watching 50s TV. I couldn't decide which scifi memories matched this one but now I know it was Rocky here. What did it? The kid, the girl, and the sliding door on the space ship. One thing I'm glad of- I didn't learn astronomy my from the writers!
The director, Hollingsworth Morse, was also behind LOTS of TV shows like Fall Guy, Love American Style, Petticoat Junction, Dukes of Hazard. I love these old sci fi flicks. As others have said, they seem so innocent today.
"...in moments now it (the meteor) will strike the earth.....oh and I'll have the tuna melt."
I LOVE THIS MOVIE
For 1954 timeframe, a neat show!
great movie, takes you back, it is history to some a different view. thank you thank you. lest we don't forget, these great movies and serials of their time.
Just fun!! That convertible is a beaut !! I’d buy one.
I love this movie.brings back some great memories of my dad and me watching T.V on Saturday night

I love watching sci fi from the 1920s-1950s, because we had literally no clue what it was really like out there... don't know who's bright idea it was to name his co-pilot "Winky"
@The Arbiter Check out our upcoming sci-fi series with Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager): ruclips.net/video/1f5UfgPlMAA/видео.html
You know, I've always wondered about that "winky" name myself, lol
Generally speaking the sci-fi of the first half of the 1950s were high quality-- The Day the Earth Stood Still, Them, etc. This one is a throwback to the 40s or even 30s the Flash Gordon era,for example. The late 50s became more low budget pulpy. Nevertheless, they're all great fun and an enjoyable travel back to a time when American life was simpler and more innocent.
Grew up watching these! To a kid this is riveting space drama! [OK, ok but I SAID I was A KID! (then)]
Just a good old Saturday morning flick. nice family entertainment.
WOW! A flashback to when I was a five year old kid watching Rocky Jones on my parents B&W television. I would have my space helmet on and my trusty ray gun at my side to blast any space aliens who came out of the TV. :-)
This reminds me of watching Captain Video on TV, The good and bad guys are standard issue for the time but these sets are many times better than the obviously cardboard construction on CapVid--sets that wobbled. Rocky Jones is a great new way for me to spend hours instead of doing anything mundane like cleaning house or battling the poison ivy/oak that thrives in the back yard. I add thanks for posting.
I also liked Commander Cory and the Space Patrol. Also I had some old stereopticons (3D viewed through a rotary device) of a character named Sam Sawyer, space traveler (or something like that). Unfortunately I have been unable to find evidence of Sam Sawyer on-line. This all goes back to the '50s.
As I remember Captain Video and Space Patrol having similar plot elements.
Fun movie to watch...thanks for posting
Sweet chick, nice car, good series.
Crane had some pretty big arms and it was nice that they allowed Prof. Newton and the kid to join them on this perilous flight.
I was 3 years old when this came out.
Scotty Beckett was one of the original Our Gang kids (The Little Rascals) and died at 36 years old from a beating. The Director of the movie, Hollingsworth Morse, also directed McHales Navy.
This movie is better than any new sci fi movie made today the actors seem more realistic.
Great old movie. Thanks for the upload!
TV SERIES OF THE 1950'S
With out this show we would not have Star Trek.P.S. The evil guys in dark uniforms were templates for the Klingons.
Info:
Menace from Outer Space is a classic film that was originally Developed and Published on arcades By CAVE Co.,Ltd in 1998 and Licensed by Nihon System and Atlus.
Love the old science fiction. Some of their guesses proved to be right in the present era.
Bobby was the original Wesley Crusher. 13:51
Makes me want to get get on my bike , and zap the neighbors, with my supercool spaceship I just built LOL
I bet there's a lightning ⚡ bolt on the main brace.
Funny how the 50's rockets work just like the Falcon x in 2020 lol.
I don't wan't to like it ...but you have to LOVE IT!!!
As always, thank you Pizza Flix!
Wow. The male actors all died young. Rocky 50; Bobby 43; and Winky 38. Winky was an alcoholic and pill popper who was severely beaten 2 days before his death. Being a space ranger was apparently a hard life.
Screw the red menace. We've got Rocky. Unless he's dead. Did he die? "Bring your lipstick.", he said to his officer. He was a rare kind of space captain. I hope he's not dead.
Now I better understand Why ”2001” was considered a so breathtaking SF movie, when it came out.
This whole series treads a fine line between the abysmally ridiculous, the patently absurd, and the barely believable. However, as a fan of 50's and 60's sci-fi, and MST3K, it's a blast and fun to watch, especially Cleolanta! She's so badass! Rocky Jones neophytes: Enjoy!
....abysmally....patently....neophyte ? .....polysyllabic words weren't in a space ranger's vocabulary....keep it '50s please
oh man, the space puns are killing me lol
Rocky needs a make the earth great again hat...
Nice they didn’t have to wear helmets or suits for that matter and have gravity in the ship so they don’t have to float around. Nice !!!
Golly Gee Pre-Batman & Robin in space, Corny is Hot compared to what's around now I love this movie...The Jupiter woman were fine!
TV series
I love this show
Star Trek, which came about a decade later, took many elements from Rocky Jones.
I look forward to the future when capes will be all the rage.
Why wait, put one on, start the trend now!! :D
So the airport is in a deep mining pit? And now for a commercial break from our sponsor . “Winston taste good like a cigarette should.” So Bobby grows up and smokes a pack a day....dies from lung cancer at age 54. Oh the good old days.
Love it good stuff
21:14. . "Damn you Rocky!! You've shot us up the ass!"
A little background info on Winky I got off of Wikipedia.
Winky: Rocky's faithful co-pilot and sidekick, the womanizing Winky was the upbeat comic relief to balance the always serious Rocky. Winky was played by Scotty Beckett, one of the original Our Gang comedy kids. The Winky character was replaced by Biffen "Biff" Cardoza (James Lydon)from the planet Herculon after 26 episodes when Beckett was unavailable as he was serving time in jail for carrying a concealed weapon
A couple years later from Japan we will get similar themes repeated in a charming starlike alien force flick called WARNING FROM SPACE!
At some point in history the term _blastoff_ became _liftoff_ .
And of course, Winky!
The “Space-Pad” looks like an old electric power station.
It is.
I inspiration for women wearing miniskirts in space.
The observatory at the beginning was either MT.Polamore or stock footage.
Ah yes.Great memories.Appreciate the upload.
I love that congress man Adam Schiff plays the villain at 12:00 in the video.
The model of the car is wild
Yeah. It's really sharp. I wish I knew what it was., Maybe a customized T-bird?
I just learned that the car is a 1953/56 "Grantham Stardust." Not many were made.
Rocky Jones in the far-off future year of 1980!
...and no platform shoes and bell bottoms !!!
AWESOME SHOW!!!
Totally Awesome
fun movies thanks
That's a great car Vena pulls up in near the beginning. It looks like it might be a customized T-bird. I wonder if somebody owns it now.
I just learned that the car is a "Grantham Stardust". 1953 to 1956. Not many were made.
I may be wrong, but I believe the director of this movie would go on to direct episodes of several popular WESTERN tv series like Gunsmoke and Bonanza as well as a couple of non-westerns like Twilight Zone.
Thanks for the upload
Me thinks Rocky was Flash Gordon in a previous life...
Well, that was entertaining!
They see a Warhead that looks like an ordinary rocket!
Professor reminds me of Professor Albert Farnsworth.
Loved it
Maybe Trump can adopt these uniforms for his US Space Force BTW, the ladies on the show caught my attention when I was a youth.
hell yes , good stuff !
So,they flew all that way and landed in a junk yard....."give me more Winky, MORE MORE".....they don't write 'em like that nowadays.
they have good stories
I want that car!
I want a car like that too 😉
Insurance must pricey on a car that cool.
Rocky, Scotty and Sally!
i whole heartedly agree with jeff king of 4 years ago.
this genre of simplistic realism offered the viewing public "radio" with a picture.. of ALL the generations of star trek, MY FAVORITE was the original episodes' with much human activity within a closed (obviously staged) set. the simplicity of the walls' ship controls, as in galaxy quest's replication of the original deck's appearance, PLAINly distributed control gadgets reduces the conflict between the background and the scene (without any required accuracy.)
the story is what counts! so what if the enterprise or orbit jet travels great distances within the program's presentation's duration.
thanks for a relaxed (simple) form of excitement.
YTV (a cable network) ? ...because you can't watch radio.
Great movie thanks
Jumpin' Jupiter and Zaney Gullaney what juvenile innocence we have here. Why didn't the BBC buy this when l was knee-high to a Martian mite l may have appreciated it more then. 😄
Great movie
jumpin satellites ! :D great movie ty
1953/56 "Grantham Stardust" is Vena's car. Not many were made.
Cub Scouts in space.
Zoroaster?
And in 1954 us kids thoit this was HOT STUFF!! Bette than Saturday morning cartoons!
10:47 his reference to "a true scientist". They never had Bill Nye the "sinus" guy! LOLOLOL
@The Arbiter Check out our upcoming sci-fi series with Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager): ruclips.net/video/1f5UfgPlMAA/видео.html
I like the car.
Interesting. I had never even heard of this ScFi series until I ran across it on RUclips. And, I have been a fan of ScFi all my life. Also interesting: The door controls in the Space Ranger rocket appear to be the same as in the Starship Enterprise some twelve year later. Surprising that technology had not advance in those twelve years!
OH you have missed so much...
Star trek sucks
I like these 50's sci fii's. So So tired of diff ent companies keep repeating the current one under different names. In much need of new current weather related sci fi's
The Professor looks like the inspiration for the first Doctor Who 9 years later.
That, or an older cousin of the Stooges.
I think Bobby was the predecessor of Wesley Crusher 🙂
lucky they have those winged rockets in space to stabilize flight
They are quite similar to the Elon Musk, Space X rockets of today, aren't they. Although I particularly didn't care too much for this 50s sci-fi movie, I got to say, it not only foretold Space-X but also I Dream of Jeannie and the Star Trek sliding doors. shhh-shhh...shhh-shhh
@For Truth SHAZAM! (said like Gomer)
Marilyn Monroe was huge in those days. (no pun intended) So it's no surprise that Vena got the full platinum blonde treatment.
25 lands on fornax, a Jupiter moon, woman writes down log, no spacesuits needed(?)
So, Gargamel discovered dilithium crystals
'My watch has stopped and can't be started.'. It's 15:33, report back at 12:00!
I was only a young boy when this was on the air. Still, even I knew that spaceships couldn't maneuver like that without pulping everyone on board!
@Sheila T. Indeed he does. A fully reusable launch system is a big step in bringing the costs down. However, that's another conversation entirely.
I kind of knew that, but it didn't bother me at all. It was just the idea of traveling in space was so easy.
