I had the very same reaction watching the Spacex rockets land that way! Even as a kid I did not think that could be done.
And how else are they to land, on their side, or by driving their nose into the earth

I loved this show as a kid growing up in the early days of B&W TV when programming instilled good values in (White) children who then were betrayed by LBJ, Bill Moyers and NPR's Bolshevik Marxism. Sesame Street became Marxist politics because the Democrats would sell out their own, especially if White and Christian, for a few *s*h*e*k*e*l*s. The professor character alone in this series was so perfect. An exuberant professor always looking on the bright side good science supposedly offered all mankind.

One thing that puzzled me. Are they set up like here with them upright when in Horizontal flight, or like 60's TB3 upright in vertical flight.

Rocky Jones, Space Ranger is an American Sci-Fi TV series originally broadcast during the 1954/55 season. Thirty-nine 30-minute episodes were filmed, 36 of these were grouped into 12 three-chapter stories and later edited into feature-length films for television.

It's a '53 Grantham Stardust, built by Fred Grantham in Hollywood, California, with a Gene Schneider Plastics fiberglass body.
