The theme of Land and People is eerily reminiscent of the concepts elucidated by Hitler in Mein Kampf. This is not to suggest the writers were Nazis or even sympathizers---not at all. It is a common theme, especially among Northern European cultures. In early 20th century Germany there was even a book called 'Land und Leute' (People and Places) that struck the idea of a people being organically connected to where they have lived. The idea is that removing a community from where it resides is tantamount to a form of genocide. This movie seems to strike out at that notion by suggesting that the soul of a culture resides within its members and not where they live. I dont think that there is anything more than a coincidental connection but it is interesting.
