This brought back an early childhood memory, I was maybe 5 years old and this movie was on the TV. I didn't get the plot except there was a bad guy from space turning people into skeletons with a disintegrator ray gun and I thought that was incredibly cool. I remember getting as far as the part where the bad guy says I can hear you breathing, and my mom came in and didn't think much of the movie. I protested and said he's got a disintegrator ray mom! She was unimpressed and changed the channel.

ALTERNATIVE ENDING: Our hero cries out, "I need more power!" As he holds his formerly useless apparatus firmly with both hands, Derek squeezes mightily and suddenly feels a strong intense surge flow through his hands. With great focus, our hero directs a powerful but timely, full frontal blast directly into the face of his nemesis and dispatches the fishy smelling beast before his weapon is spent and is once again rendered useless.
Relieved and breathing heavily, Derek then turns to our heroine, Betty, and says, "I know what it is I must do now." "To fully complete my task here I shall require two items. "First, I must have access to what your people call tissue to remove any errant residual matter of my power blast." "And, secondly I will need an oral respiratory decompression device." "It is what your people call, A CIG-AR-ETTE."
With several deep inhalations and exhalations, Derek extinguishes the device. And with one long and passionate kiss, and several hearty handshakes, our hero bids farewell to Betty, the object of his earthly affection, and his newfound friends. Then boarding the interstellar craft that will return him to his home world, Derek waves one final time and departs earth.
Derek's efforts to defeat his people's plan to transform earth into a global Red Lobster holding tank for the Gorgons were successful much to their dismay. His people's goal for interstellar Lobsterfests and Crawdad Boils will have to wait.

Just have one question: how many Oscars did this flick win?

I have found that a some bad movies have an odd kind of appeal about them, despite their obvious flaws. It's as though there is something buried in them, something hiding behind their badness, that is not immediately obvious, but for the life of me, I can't put a finger on what it is. Another movie that evokes this feeling in me is "The Giant Gila Monster."

[7:16 -- 8.02] Thor > From where have you learned such things?
Derek > I have read from this book. I discovered it and kept it hidden.
Note: The book looks like a well-used copy of the Gideon Vest Pocket Edition of the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs, 1956 Edition, 168 pages, with a soft, faux-leather cover, conformable to the edition of 1611 commonly known as the Authorized or King James Version, that was distributed free of charge to elementary school children at school assemblies in the USA in 1956.

This was the ending sound effect that was used in the night of the living dead 2:22. The reason why they used that sound effect was because the people who were making that film didn't know how to make music, and that's why the music on the night of the living dead was not original.
