I remember when I was playing this game, I couldn't stop crying when Choushiro appeared and saved Ruka the last time, also the next scene when she finally remembered her father's smile. The existence of Miya, You Haibara's love toward his sister and his despair at the end hurt me a lot too. Fatal Frame 4's protagonists maybe not the most memorable in the series, but it has the shiniest supporting roles.
If your confused of the story plot or something Ruka is the main character most likely. SPOLER ALERT: Ruka doesn’t remember her past and worried about the deaths her two friends, Marie and Tomoe. Ruka journeys to Rougetsu Island to try and find answers. She only remembers there was somewhat a tragedy that happened. There she uncovers her past and that of a forbidden ritual had taking place. The ritual was called the Kagura Dance. It’s a ritual performed during a lunar eclipse once every decade. It is a very important tradition on the Rougetsu Island because it will stop the Blooming (the final stage of the sickness called Luna Sedata Syndrome). It is also said to open a pathway moonlight to allow the previously deceased to travel into the underworld and be at peace. The ceremony consists of six females: the Utsuwa "Vessel" (who funnels the dead onto the moon path to the underworld) and the Kanades "Accompanists" (whom play the Lunar Melody which summon, soothe, and guide the dead). Originally these participants were chosen by the Tsukimori Maidens, however the Tsukimori family and their traditions died out. Dr. Shigeto Haibara, the current owner of the Haibara Hospital, wanted to observe a forbidden form of the Kagura Dance called the "Kiraigou" (Ceremony of Passage) in which the Utsuwa wears the Mask of the Lunar Eclipse during the dance. This form of the dance had centuries ago caused a great disaster on the island called "The Day Without Suffering" (which occurred when the Ceremony of Passage and the Kagura Dance failed) and was therefore forbidden, yet Doctor Haibara wanted to recreate it in the hopes of better understanding the effects of the ceremony on Luna Sedata Syndrome. The vessel was his own daughter who was suffering from the Luna Sedata Syndrome but it went wrong. Performing both dances at the same time met with dire results as the surface Kagura dance Utsuwa and Kanade died, while the Kiraigou dancers below met with strange fates. Sakuya momentarily bloomed then fell into a coma-like state and her Kanade dancers lost the memories of their childhood. Doctor Haibara, fearing that his ritual would be discovered, locked away his daughter in a secret holding cell in the hospital's basement for further observation and study. He then had You Haibara lock the five girls used as the Kanade in a moon purification chamber beneath Haibara Hospital where they were later discovered and rescued by Choushiro Kirishima. (You Haibara kidnapped the children for the dance) Choushiro Kirishima was the man who was investigating the kidnapping of the young children. He was also the one put that mask on the final boss. He was actually dead and was the reason why he vanished in a way. Reason why Choushiro Kirishima was trying to watch out for Ruka was cause he was in love with her mother. When this fight started, I was like, 'Oooooooh boy~' expecting a hell of a fight. After I FF-ed her to oblivion, I thought, 'Wait, no round 2? That's it?' That piano turned out to be the actual final boss. Sheeeeeeit.
My man Choshiro was my favorite character so it was so sad to learn that he died before all of this but I was also happy that he came back one last time
though her difficulty quite disappointing, if you do not kill her fastly. I love how you may see her dance, i wonder if it the same dance when she did the ritual. that is quite beautiful and mesmerizing
This boss is so easy. The father in the stairs cause so more work to defeat.. the end of the game is beatiful. I don't understand why the final boss is so easy.. but this don't do the final of game bad. I just wait for more.
The boss itself is easy, because if you fail the song, you have to re-fight her. And I dunno about you, but because of lacky motion controls, I had a bitch of a time doing the song correctly.
Also there's not a lot of anger in Sakuya because that's not Sakuya anymore but just an amalgamation of souls from the island trapped inside her body.. it's kind of sad of you think about it because every other Fatal Frame antagonist got a somewhat good ending but here Sakuya gets little to nothing but being set free.
just beat the remastered. I was not once scared. I only feel stressed with the ghost hand mini game AFTER i realize that by winning it you get precious gem stones. (otherwise you get nothing) Lol.
Just the perfect final battle for a game like this. While the boss itself isn’t anything amazing the story behind it all, the location, the music, the actions Ruka has to perform, finally playing the correct version of the song passed down her family for generations. It’s by far the best finale in a Fatal Frame game. It’s all just thematically perfect and probably one of the few truly ‘good endings’ we get too.
I'm not saying the organ blew up this game, but the organ blew up one hell of a fight they could deliver to us, like the priestess fight on part 3, or do you remember Mr. Kurosawa on part 2?
Sugawara Koushi's waifu why all of this chaos happened is because of the failed ritual ( i’m not sure if it’s something wrong with the mask but if i read the documents, they said on the day the ritual was held the final boss / sakuya face was bloom which failed the ritual and shattered the mask to 3/4 pieces and her blurry face become the lunar eclipse mask instead and whoever watch her face will end up blooming their face or blurry face and died). So the main character (ruka) is the daughter of the mask maker and lost all of her memories but she knew she has to complete something and it’s to complete the rougetsu kagura dance ritual so after defeating sakuya and play the tsukimori song on the organ correctly, the last thing to do is to put the mask on sakuya face to finish the ritual complete and correctly once and for all to send the restless spirits to the after life. Correct me if i’m wrong
they suppose add some distraction when Ruka tries to play the piona to make it harder, so the final boss will bloom into another buffed-creature. maybe we need to break the mask for the first phase, and hard Sakuya comes after will be more epic. regardless, the best story so far ! magnificent.
What I don't understand about this is: you can clearly hear the or "Tsukimori Song" being played on the organ in the background, yet it's not having any effect on Sakuya in this. Does it have to actually be played by someone for it to work?
Never heard about "Background music"? X°D This is just Sakuya's theme. Not a real tsukimori song played by someone =P That's why it doesn't have effect on her.
***** I just find it strange that they'd have the Tsukimori Song as her theme and not only that, it's as if it's played on that particular organ in the lighthouse especially since it's really loud and fades when she disappears.
yeah but is a simple background music X) I don't see the problem. And is normal that they gave the Tsukimori song as Theme to Sakuya since this is the only thing that can defeat her =) And about your question: of course someone has to play it to work. You know that the BGM is only a music. Just see the question in this way: Sakuya and Ruka themselves don't hear that song except for us, the players X)
Well, outside of the whole gameplay thing, it is mentioned that for the song to actually work, it does have to be *performed* by a descendant of the Tsukimori clan.
This.....Sakuya is an awesome antagonist in terms of character and story but.......she's a horrible final boss. Not only is she not a one hit kill (not even her special attack), but they spam her chase sequences, you beat her as Misaki and Choushiro before this fight, but she barely attacks you and she has low HP and she's very easy to Fatal Frame. Just......the easiest Final Boss I've ever fought.
Eh, honestly, I felt like Ouse from 5 was easier. Mostly because she honestly doesn't have a one-hit kill. And even though they claimed that her Underwater form is more difficult... both forms are super easy. I feel like 5 made things a lot easier. (Also, made a lot of mistakes. Miu's character, in general, because it's a waste)
While I can't excuse Ouse in 5 for being easy, Sakuya makes sense, since performing the Tsukimori Song correctly on the piano after draining her health, is half of the battle, and if you fail it *cough*motioncontrol*cough* then you have to refight her.
The motion controls were super easy to use on the piano because of the pointer though so it was never an issue for me. Ouse's more of a challenge than Sakuya was, but 5's got way more problems than 4 ever did.
Okay.... How did you manage to get the Japanese version of the song at the end? I heard it only had the English version in it. (And every other video I've seen of this part has the English version of the song in it.)
Anyone here knows an anime called "Brave Beats" ? I want to know how good is it, because I am considering using it in a "Madoka Magica" centered crossover that involves "Fatal Frame 4". The ritual from this game, adapted, is key to revive the Madoka Goddess.
In the game's plot, there was a strange disease called Luna Sedata Syndrome which had several stage of illness. The final boss, Sakuya, was in the final stage of the disease, "Blooming" signified by blurring of her face.
Wow, that is the laziest boss ever. Seriously? Come on now. She is just like a normal enemy. Were you doing something special? FF 3 had the best end boss.
I remember when I was playing this game, I couldn't stop crying when Choushiro appeared and saved Ruka the last time, also the next scene when she finally remembered her father's smile. Nice explanation tq!
Can I just say that I love the ambience of the Tsukimori Song :D
Yeah it's amazing
Never mind resident evil , THEY NEED TO REMAKE THIS FOR PS4 !!!!
Yes!
If Nintendo will allow it and will agree to work with PS.
I'm from the future they are remaking all for ps4 and ps5
Oo Naman, my friend sana nga,, no ☺️😳
This aged well!!!

If only the boss patterns and damage was as good and exciting as this music playing.
You'll bloom too. Ayako. I am inside the doll.. I love how she repeats this in the battle ^.^
Thank you! I wish I would understand what ghosts say during battles in FF4.
My man Choshiro was my favorite character so it was so sad to learn that he died before all of this but I was also happy that he came back one last time
I have no idea what's going on, but the algorithm recommended it to me. Now it is recommending this series even more now lol.
perhaps she wasn't meant to be difficult, like mary/maria from sh2.
Sakuya was the easiest boss fight but for me the most haunting one. FF4 was a special game for sure, the soundtrack was so haunting.
I think Kirie is easiest boss (since I can't play FF 4, sobs)
though her difficulty quite disappointing, if you do not kill her fastly.
I love how you may see her dance, i wonder if it the same dance when she did the ritual.
that is quite beautiful and mesmerizing

the boss is easy, but not the piano
The boss is easy because the final boss is the piano lol.
I think she's so easy because she already was weak to begin with + she had a huge mental illness problem and was almost halfly cured 10yrs before.
Best fatal frame in the series imo. This offered the scares.
just beat the remastered. I was not once scared. I only feel stressed with the ghost hand mini game AFTER i realize that by winning it you get precious gem stones. (otherwise you get nothing) Lol.
Tbh ff2 and ff3 and ff1 hold the most fear especially ff2 I hate almost of ghosts there including the lore...
Everyone thinks this is the final boss when the instrument to play on is the real final boss 😝
Whos heres after todays announcement of this HD Remaster
Man, fatal frame ending is always sweet for horror game eventhough it play rock music.

Easiest to hardest Fatal Frame final boss
Sakuya IV
Ouse V
Kusabi II
Kirie I
Reika III
DEATH HUG OF DOOM
Reika is the best though. I flee her yelling, "Reika I love you but PLEASE DON'T TOUCH ME!!!!"
How about Sae Kurosawa in Fatal Frame 2
Best video game Ever !
