Perspective that helps me: pregnancy sleep only gets worse but newborn sleep only gets better. 9 months post partum, your baby will likely be sleeping better than you did at 9 months pregnant (and so will you)! Hang in there, it definitely gets easier. I'm 41 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and can't wait to have a newborn and sleep a little better 😂😂
Our baby girl's first night home she literally didn't fall asleep til the birds were singing the next morning. My husband sat at the end of our bed and was like, "When people said we would never sleep again I didn't know they were SERIOUS?!" 😅
Holding my 13-day old baby and needing this.
Thank you for touching on maternity leave. I HATE the policies in America. I literally will not be getting paid to be out with my daughter come July. They give 12-16 weeks but without pay. How do they expect us to survive? Ugh!
I'm so sorry! My state is one of the few with paid leave. If you have disability insurance use it! In addition you can apply for welfare which isn't much but something! Best of luck to you 👍
@@meghanmoore4871 what state.
I started watching your video when I was 7 weeks pregnant, you prepared me from exercises to sign of labour + breathing techniques up to the delivery room and now am holding my 1 week newborn baby!!! And hear comes perfect time on how to sleep with newborn!!!!
😭😭😭😭
Oh thank you thank you! I'm holding my 2 week old on my chest as I type this because that's the only place he will sleep!
My 3 almost 4 mos baby still sleep on my chest.. literally.. she doesnt allow us to lay her down. She just wants carry 24/7. 😬
The timing of this is perfect 🙌 I have a 2 week old and he is my world, but I'd love some sleep again!🤣 😴
Literally on time.... same here having a two week old 😫😭
Omg me too!!!!!!
Right here with you all 4/17/21 is his birthday. Baby boy sleep please
4/29 here ❤️❤️
Right in time! I'm due in three weeks with my first and doing EVERYTHING to get her out 😂😂 I'm so ready for these sleepless nights and my rainbow 🥰
I have a now 7.5 month old son and I remember feeling so desperate to get sleep, I would cry while rocking my baby as a newborn. I thought we would never get sleep again! There is hope! You will be amazed at how your baby starts sleeping longer stretches!
I needed this video today!!! Trying to keep my head high.
I have a 5wk old and I've only had him home for a week. (He's been in the NICU due to being born at 34wks 6days and he's home now but on oxygen and an oximeter) my baby is finding the transition from constant attention and care to sleepy overly stressed parents hard. We know it will get better but my husband and I just cry every night. Porting around medical equipment everytime he feeds and needs a diaper change just makes it worse.
At first it’s hard but of course everyone will get their sleep back, my baby is 2 & currently I’m 36 weeks pregnant so it’s going to be a challenge but I know sleep will come & I will be fine so will every mom out there. So don’t get discouraged new moms! ♥️
I have a nearly 3 week old baby, husband is not here due to visa problems. I need this thank you xxx
40 w 1d! I am so anxious for her to get here, but also enjoying my current sleep cycle lol
Love this!!! So glad I found this before baby boy arrives in just a few weeks! 🥰
Mine is a month old and I can safely say its getting better now.
I've experienced the opposite 😩🥺
This video is so perfectly timed!!
You said to track your (the parents sleep) as opposed to your baby’s sleep, and that’s what I’ve been doing! I’ve been doing it for a few weeks, when I remember 🤪
I also love that you mentioned The Wonder Weeks app/book. I love the app!
ETA: My son (my 1st) didn’t sleep through my night until he was 18 months old. I truly thought I was never going to sleep again. My daughter (who is now 2 months old) has been sleeping in 6-7 hour stretches for the last couple of weeks. I feel so spoiled!
My son didn't sleep 12 hours a night until he was 14 months old. That was after we hired a sleep trainer. My husband and I couldn't go on anymore. Having broken sleep for that long was the most traumatic part for us. I'm nervous with this second pregnancy. 5 hours a night was just not enough. We both need 9-10 hours a night to function.
My 5 month old is just now sleeping through the night almostly .. he wakes to feed once I night now ... but I definitely remember feeling so exhausted from this lack of sleep was so bad for me 😞😞
Amazing tips! Thank you!
Appreciate all of your videos. Looking forward to your next video!💝
Sarah, you're such a life saver!!
You are an angel. I have learned so much from you already and I am due September 3rd! I appreciate all your advice and it's soo helpful! Thank you for all you do.
😭😭😭 xo
6 -8 months until a full night's rest... I'm a first time mom and due in June. I know you say it's temporary and an adjustment but from the comments I'm reading, it's still kind of disheartening.
I'll do my best though
I had my daughter on Tuesday morning so this is perfect timing! 🥰
I'm waiting for this! My newborn baby Santi is 3 wks old 💛💙💚
Thank goodness! I have a 1 week old right now! 😭❤️
3 week old and running on 4 hrs of sleep 😴
Can’t wait for part 2 😃
My baby is 6 days old! Perfect timing
I have a 6 week old and mama is looking forward to when she can sleep again 🤦🏾♀️
Love your channel
Thank you, I love your videos! I would love to hear your opinions on the whole US maternity/parental leave can of worms... I am endlessly shocked at how behind the times the US is in supporting working mothers.
Thank you!! 5 week old here :)
This is perfect timing i have a 4 day old baby boy.
I love love your vids! Please make an elimination communication vid if you can.
I get really good sleep. Buuut I sleep with my baby. I know. I know. Some people say it's very unsafe. But it helps my little monster to sleep better. He would cry for hours in his crib if I left him in there. He is 8 months old.
The risk of SIDS diminishes pretty quickly after 2 months anyway. Co-sleeping is pretty much only a taboo in the US, it's otherwise the norm around the world. Co-sleeping can be done safely if you follow basic guidelines. La leche league's website has some really good info on it.
@@Cyanopteryx thank you for that website. I just checked it out and I follow those rules. (:
I have a 5.5 year old and 2.5 year old, and am currently 36 weeks pregnant. Sleep with babies/kids in general is a rollercoaster, so try enjoying the good sleep periods and ride through the not so good sleep periods. They grow up SO INCREDIBLY FAST! So while it’s super hard while you are sleep deprived, try to remind yourself that the not good sleep periods are temporary, you will sleep again. Try to enjoy each moment and each stage with each child. Yes, even the not so good sleep periods. And seek help/guidance (like from #sarahlavonne) if it affects your health or quality of life. We got this mamas!!
I'm so scared to have a newborn and a toddler. I don't know how people with 3+ kids do it.
Same! I have a 17 month old who still sleeps like crap and then I’m due with #2 in july
@@aricamcardle4513 Wishing you the best of luck ❤️ Hey, maybe your newborn's waking everyone up all night will tire your toddler out / ultimately solve the sleep problems 🤗 🙏
Can you do a video on preeclampsia?
35 weeks prego here. I can barely sleep now with all my pregnancy issues. I can't wait to hear what I'm in for. 😆
SAME!! 36 weeks here!!
37 weeks here! My sleep has been horrible even with a pregnancy pillow, impossible without one. I also have a 14 month old son. He sleeps through the night perfectly fine but I end up wanting to sleep 12 hour intervals. Lmao
Same I'm 32 weeks now and I pee every hour and I am up all night back and forth. I guess what's the difference ?
I’m now 2 months postpartum and I will say, you will sleep again!
I'm 40+ weeks pregnant with my second and only sleep a couple hours at a time. I look forward to having a newborn lol. Pregnancy sleep only gets worse but newborn sleep only gets better!
Since you brought up your sleeping during school and night shift... I did that. I worked full time overnight in a hotel and then did school full time during the day. It is not the same as a newborn. It's apples to oranges. When you have a schedule that allows for little sleep, at least you know the hours of the day you will be able to sleep ... With my newborn you don't know when the sleep will come. And they don't just pass out when they're ready to sleep lol. Mine fights his naps and takes a lot to get down. 🤣 By the time he's asleep he's due to be hungry again any minute. Like... It's not the same as that full time work/full time school schedule. You don't sound relatable at all saying that. It made me roll my eyes. Your channel's super helpful and even this video is. But that part. I eye rolled so bad lol.
Like other mamas watching and commenting, I'm holding my 4 week old watching this ❤️. My son was just diagnosed with LM, so I get 3 hours of sleep (starting the night before laboring at home 4 weeks ago) a night - I'm terrified of it. Thank God for my mom and husband for letting me nap when my husband is at work or when he gets home, I'm lucky I have this extremely supportive family.
29weeks pregnant! Binge watching your channel to prepare myself
I need this! We have a 3 week old.
Me too
Baby is a week old and she is sleeping into her feeding time and when i go to feed her she doesnt eat as much as usual because she falls asleep again
Hey Sarah, I have a question for your next coffee and questions. When you're in labour should you eat before going to the hospital? Some say yes others say no 🤷 And if so what would be ideal to eat 🤔 Thank you! 😊
I would say yes. I would also eat whatever u feel comfortable eating. Some women throw up consider this, but I would eat a nutrient calorically dense meal like a hamburger or pasta etc.
My 4 week old has been doing this thing where he wakes up every 40 minutes, fusses for a few minutes, and then goes back to sleep. Literally the entire night through, he does this. So I am wide awake the entire night because whenever I'm on the brink of falling back asleep, he wakes up, makes a little noise and then goes back down. Lol help me I'm dying.
Same!!
try using a noise machine, loud enough to keep you from hearing every coo but low enough to hear if they wake up for a feed or a diaper change, trust me a noise machine or some type of white noise helps sooo much parents and baby.
My 2.5 year old has never once slept thru the night lol 😩 I have a 10 week old who has been an amazing sleeper since he was born. We are about to move from Germany to the US and have a 7 hour time zone change. I am so scared I’m going to break him!!! 😭
He will adjust!! I did a 6 hour time change with my baby and I took melatonin on the new time zone and had her sleep with me (and nursed her to sleep) while I slept on the new time zone and incredibly she adjusted on the first night!
Will I though..? I have a 2 year old and I'm still waiting for a full night's sleep...
My toddler has started waking up more now than he did as a baby.
Omg how did I miss the premier! I will relive the days I got my little puppy who is now almost two yrs! I would hear her whimper and go feed her and take her out to potty and then go back to bed. For the longest time I was such a light sleeper and if I heard anything at all even in my dreams I would be up before my eyes were opened asking husband if she was whining. Lol
I would looooove if you could talk about how to get baby to sleep independently. By that, I mean how do I get baby to sleep without having to be touching baby? We can't even rock her and then set her down, she wakes 😞
Why is the volume so low on this video?
Hallo Sarah.
I have a question.
I have had a HYSTEROSCOPIC PROCEDURE done before we did a IVF, i am 37 and a couple of days pregnant.
Now my question.
If work was done on my Uterus ( because it wasnt shaped correctly, hence why we didnt fall pregnant naturally. Can i opt for a Vaginal birth or should i opt for a c-section ? Im really worried about this and no one is giving me a straight answer
Would really appreciate a reply. ❤
Your OB will advise you once the pregnancy progresses.
Video starts at 4:00
Am due in 5 days with my second. And can't to view this video.
Hey hun. When you say newborn do you mean 0-3 months or 0-1month?
0-3
5 weeks in and my fatty is still feeding every 1.5 hours :(
So exhausted but he's putting on over half a kg a week haha
Mine too! I'm glad he's growing quickly and is so healthy and vibrant, but it's so exhausting every day just to keep up.
6 week old here🤎
Well I have to pump throughout the night so I guess no sleep anyways :(
** sleeping 16-18 hours a day making you the most rested**
LAUGHS IN NARCOLEPTIC... then has cataplectic attack
How many hours in nursing school did you have on infant sleep?
There are no classes on infant sleep in nursing school. I am a nurse.
I’m 4 months in and I am now a ghost.
4weeks today and the growth spurt is real 😐
Not anyone’s responsibility to provide leave.. just saying. But good info thank you.
