Perspective that helps me: pregnancy sleep only gets worse but newborn sleep only gets better. 9 months post partum, your baby will likely be sleeping better than you did at 9 months pregnant (and so will you)! Hang in there, it definitely gets easier. I'm 41 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and can't wait to have a newborn and sleep a little better 😂😂

Our baby girl's first night home she literally didn't fall asleep til the birds were singing the next morning. My husband sat at the end of our bed and was like, "When people said we would never sleep again I didn't know they were SERIOUS?!" 😅

I needed this video today!!! Trying to keep my head high.
I have a 5wk old and I've only had him home for a week. (He's been in the NICU due to being born at 34wks 6days and he's home now but on oxygen and an oximeter) my baby is finding the transition from constant attention and care to sleepy overly stressed parents hard. We know it will get better but my husband and I just cry every night. Porting around medical equipment everytime he feeds and needs a diaper change just makes it worse.

I also love that you mentioned The Wonder Weeks app/book. I love the app!
ETA: My son (my 1st) didn’t sleep through my night until he was 18 months old. I truly thought I was never going to sleep again. My daughter (who is now 2 months old) has been sleeping in 6-7 hour stretches for the last couple of weeks. I feel so spoiled!

My son didn't sleep 12 hours a night until he was 14 months old. That was after we hired a sleep trainer. My husband and I couldn't go on anymore. Having broken sleep for that long was the most traumatic part for us. I'm nervous with this second pregnancy. 5 hours a night was just not enough. We both need 9-10 hours a night to function.

The risk of SIDS diminishes pretty quickly after 2 months anyway. Co-sleeping is pretty much only a taboo in the US, it's otherwise the norm around the world. Co-sleeping can be done safely if you follow basic guidelines. La leche league's website has some really good info on it.

I have a 5.5 year old and 2.5 year old, and am currently 36 weeks pregnant. Sleep with babies/kids in general is a rollercoaster, so try enjoying the good sleep periods and ride through the not so good sleep periods. They grow up SO INCREDIBLY FAST! So while it’s super hard while you are sleep deprived, try to remind yourself that the not good sleep periods are temporary, you will sleep again. Try to enjoy each moment and each stage with each child. Yes, even the not so good sleep periods. And seek help/guidance (like from #sarahlavonne) if it affects your health or quality of life. We got this mamas!!

Since you brought up your sleeping during school and night shift... I did that. I worked full time overnight in a hotel and then did school full time during the day. It is not the same as a newborn. It's apples to oranges. When you have a schedule that allows for little sleep, at least you know the hours of the day you will be able to sleep ... With my newborn you don't know when the sleep will come. And they don't just pass out when they're ready to sleep lol. Mine fights his naps and takes a lot to get down. 🤣 By the time he's asleep he's due to be hungry again any minute. Like... It's not the same as that full time work/full time school schedule. You don't sound relatable at all saying that. It made me roll my eyes. Your channel's super helpful and even this video is. But that part. I eye rolled so bad lol.
