That's so funny, I love hearing different perspectives without the "trust me this is how you'll feel" attitude. Because all I heard was "soak up these snuggles, they aren't tiny like this for long, you'll miss this so much, it only gets harder from here" etc etc on and on. And I had two very difficult newborn phases so far. And amazing seasons with them older! It only keeps getting better for us! Even the terrible twos are just not anything compared to the difficulty of newborns so far for me. Maybe this time I'll have a dreamy newborn season with this baby!!
@Anne Whittemore good to know. My baby is 11 weeks old and it's been miserable with reflux. So tired of hearing "babies spit up"....yeah keeping towels down on your floor all over the house is not a part of the normal newborn phase! 😢
The newborn stage is the best! The first week is the most magical time of life! They just grow out of that super cute little self so so quick and you are left missing that tiny human forever! I keep looking at my babies newborn photos and almost feel grief from how bad I miss them at that time! Every stage is awesome but man I miss the newborn stage
My tip for baby boy diapers; open the diaper and then cover again for about 10 seconds. The cool air often stimulated him to pee, and you can catch it before putting the new diaper on!
One thing i learnt was that if you're breast feeding, empty your bladder forst as this allows full contraction of your uterus and a fuller "milk drop" , and number 2 ..is that when that umbilical cord is starting to come off and looks a bit manky,or straight after it does come off, drip breastmilk into the open part and it honestly clears it up in no time at all, just about everything is fixed by leaving breastmilk on it 🤣🤷🏼♀️
Something that was so helpful for me (having our master on the 2nd floor) was having a mini fridge in our bedroom full of waters and other hydrating drinks and I kept some easy, quick snacks on top of the mini fridge. This was so helpful for my recovery. Also if you plan to breastfeed, it is so worth it to invest in a lactation consultant.
Thank you, definitely need more moms sharing stuff like this. Most of the people that have talked to me about early motherhood seeing me pregnant have complained and projected fear and focused on struggles. So thank you.❤
@@hllymchllmy baby boy is 6 days old and the only way we’ve slept thru the night is side lying nursing. I actually feel rested! And he seems to differentiate night/day bc he’s not opening his eyes or moving much to feed at night. I’m 42 years old and a first time mom. I watched your video before delivery and was able to prepare diaper stations throughout my house! Thank you! He’s 3 weeks old now and I’m watching again because I seem to be constantly changing him, when he pees I’m having to change his diaper, his outfit and whatever he was laying on at the time! Your video is so helpful!
This was an awesome video for this first time mom!! 36 weeks and this is the first video I’ve seen full of very useful knowledge and hacks and not just a ditl with a newborn video. It was awesome, thank you!!
Mom to 2 under 2 here! My tip is to get knee high socks for the newborn stage. Those tiny little socks never stay on, but I would sometimes put my toddler's cute Burt's Bees cable knit socks on my newborn and pull them all the way up. They stay way better!
My baby is now 6 months old and aside from the first weeks of getting the hang of breastfeeding - and in general how to take care of a baby - I can honestly say I loved the newborn stage. I was lucky enough that he's a mellow little dude and although we had a hospital stint due to a urinary tract infection at 8 weeks we enjoyed the getting to know each other phase. BTW I work from home in editing and translating and never stopped doing it - just wore him in my Ergobaby.
@@KitKat10281 Unfortunately I had no choice. I wish I had a break from work. On the other hand, I could work from home with him until his 9th month so I was lucky that way. He's now at the nursery cause it was impossible to get work done since he started standing and crawling like a mad man 😀
I'm 35 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby. Even tho i have breastfed 3 newborns into the toddler years and done the newborn stage 3 times, i still love to watch these videos for any new tips i might have missed, or just reminders of some things 😊.
36 weeks with baby five, but first boy. Definitely need a refresher too. My babies were all very colicky and some of my tips were to keep the tummy warm. Place the baby across your arm and they calm down. If the crying gets unbearable, it's OK to let the baby cry and get a quiet minute to recoop so you can keep handling it. Also changing from indoors to outdoors suddenly also calmed the baby, don't know why. Baby tea is also amazing for colic. And learn about tongue and lip ties for sure.
Wake windows are everything. When my babies were newborns I was very resistant to track wake windows because it was yet another mental task to juggle and I thought it was a corner I could cut without dire consequences. But we inevitably ran into SERIOUS over tiredness problems when I didn’t at least try to be aware of sleep timing. More mental energy in the moment; but much less stress overall.
Im expecting my first baby (a little girl!) in November! I'm finally a few weeks into my second trimester so I feel semi-human again and am finally experiencing the joy, excitement, and anticipation!!

First time expectant Nana (December 2023), and this is very useful. Will use a few of these tips myself, and pass them along to the first time Mama. Nicely done!
Thank you SO much for this video! I am currently expecting baby #2 and remember being so stressed and overwhelmed in the newborn phase of my first baby. These tips are amazing! And are a great refresher for all the newborn things! Thank you 😊 ❤
You are the first mama I've found on youtube that I agree with 100000% of every single thing you say! We will have two babes under 2 come January so needed a refresher :) Thank you so much, you are a lovely human!!!
newborn life was really hard for me, mostly bc of how young and immature i was. in my mind i hadn't been able to shift well from being taken care of to taking care of another. my son had a lot of tummy troubles/colic, and it was just a lot on me. i was the first of anyone i knew to have a baby too (i still am the only one of my friends with kids lol) and it was hard mourning my old life. i'm 25 now, i have two kids and i'm hopefully about to be pregnant with my third. once i started going all in on being a mom and just grew up a little it's become a lot easier. i am so grateful for them. ❤ i also just LOVE the toddler stage way more than the baby stage, it's more fun to me! if it doesn't come naturally to you when your baby is born, just give it time.
This is my experience also, I just gave birth to my second, and motherhood is probably my favorite thing about my life now. You just have to be all in!
@@dorrymayne6819 for sure!!! I still struggle of course. It takes time. I also didn’t know it yet but when I wrote this I was indeed (and still am lol) pregnant with #3!
Hi! My husband and I are expecting our first, due April 2024. It's a girl! I'm so excited, but a little overwhelmed with where to even start! Your tips have been super helpful and put my mind a little more at ease! Thank you! ❤️
Same! We are expecting a little boy in April! I sent this video to my boyfriend to get him more prepared since I’ve been watching baby videos since before I was even pregnant 😂❤️ wishing you the best!
Another thing I found useful was to watch videos on things people wouldn’t get or do if they could do the new born phase again. During the explanation they tend to explain what they did do too. Having a 2 month old atm I know there are a few things I wouldn’t live with out, some things I wish I knew to get and a bunch of things I haven’t touched yet.
I'm due on Christmas day with my first and I like to be prepared so I've already watched A LOT of these videos, but this one has been the most useful one by far!
I dont care how tired or sleep deprived I am but I loved every second of the newborn stage. My newborn will be a month old next week. ❤ I know your newborn needs to feed every 3 to 4 hours but its not necessary to wake your baby up in the middle of the night for feeding if your baby is progressing normally and is not underweight. When you newborn sleeps through the night for a good 6 hour.. let the baby sleep because it teaches them night time sleep. My newborn started sleeping through the night towards the end of the second week and its been blissful. He sleeps at 11 at night and wakes up at 5 for feeding and sleeps again and wakes up at 7 or 8 for the next feeding. Its like that for my first 2 kids as well. They all sleep through the night. The hakaa breast suction is the best. Cheap and easy ❤
Same! I never woke gm first two up to eat when they were sleeping! They will definitely wake up when they are hungry! Sometimes as they sleep longer I realized it was a tiny growth phase 🥰
@@babycakes8434 it's kinda like a suction pump and acts like an automatic pump. There's a yt video on how to use it but I didn't use it for long unfortunately because I had complications after I delivered and lost too much blood. My body was focusing on recovery rather than producing milk but when I used it, it did work, I just didn't have enough milk to produce a lot.
I don't have a boy, but I have heard that if you use a wipe around the top of their diaper where their bladder is, it will help them pee while the diaper is still on them. Hopefully reducing the need for a quick-cover pee situation for them. Hope this helps someone!
This was so super helpful!! You covered pretty much everything i had questions about. I brought my new born home yesterday and these are all things i have wanted to get more information about. So thank u so much
The new born stage was difficult but I loved all the moments. I worked as a CNA before ever having any kids and you learn how to change briefs fast and affective and I used those methods I learned their and apply them with him.
Thank you for all the great tips! I just learned from a doctor on RUclips that skin to skin contact has many important medical benefits for both baby and mom.
Expecting our first in October. The tip about the socks was really helpful since we live in northern Sweden and want to keep her warm and cozy. We just started to slowly build up her closet and have been debating on whether to use socks or clothes with covered feet. Socks it is!
For the clothes I'm using a wardrobe and hangers + dividers and I store all the accesories in the small Ikea boxes in the drawer ❤ This way I can see all the baby's clothes perfectly!
Just a heads up, I took a breastfeeding class at my local hospital. For the Haaka bottle, the nurse said do not pull back the top of the bottle and then attach to the breast. It can cause a lot of harm to the breast and nipples when done this way. This is a TikTok trend that is not encouraged by the company. Glad if it worked for you but just a warning for others.
No worries most of us go through that real real fear. I never held a baby before my first son. And had absolutely no help after the C-section. And RUclips was real new and there was no real help or real openness information. Enjoy the crying, it’s communication even though it might feel overwhelming at times I take that challenge and love it
As a first time Dad, I thought my wife and I had prepared so well for our little girl, but from the moment she was born to now 5 days later, neither of us could have truly guessed the raw terror (also joy) we feel about not wanting to do anything wrong or see our baby not thrive. Everything is good so far thankfully 😊
STM here, but since my first is already 7 years old, I am here to refresh my memories, and I am learning a lot! You look great as a mom of two (kids under 2!!) Thanks for sharing the tips 🥰
And for fingernails, I remember for my first kid, the tip of her fingernails just fell off by themselves until when she was a few months old, so I never needed to clip her nails during that time. But great tips for clipping their nails when they are asleep, this would come in handy when baby is older too!
This was so helpful thank you! I love how you just go right into the info and you’re very natural at transitioning to each tip/topic, thank you. My due date is March 20th! first baby
Hi Beth!!:) loved the video! Could you do a video talking more about the schedule of baby and how you incorporated that, especially for getting longer hours of sleep! Thank you!❤
I'm due eith my 3rd in June, and I would say to keep in mind that every hard phase WILL pass! You will experience things, like sleep regressions or maybe Baby has reflux, that are really hard and will really test you. When you're in the middle of it, it may feel like this will never end, but keep reminding yourself that it will pass!
Thank you so much for sharing these tips! I am due towards the end of August with our first baby 😊 Apparently breast milk is also really great to help with cradle cap and any kind of scratch/scrape on baby!
Thank you very much for the tips! I'm expecting my first baby in August so just trying to get my hands on as much useful advice and tips as I can before baby is here ❤
Girls pee too when the cool air hits them (or a cool wipe). I wasn't expecting this until I found out first hand. I've found those tiny mittens useless and use socks on their hands instead. They stay on much better and keep babies face scratch free. Also, not every baby likes to be swaddled. My tip would be to experiment until you get it right. Try the full body swaddle, or the torso and legs only (some babies find comfort in having their hands at their face), or perhaps its a sleep sack that works best!
it never really occured to me that not everyone has changed a nappy before! i just assumed everyone knew the first wipe with a nappy trick! im due in august xx
Thanks for all of the tips! I’m expecting my first baby (a boy ❤) at the beginning of October and my husband is starting a new job where he will be gone for weeks at a time. I am looking for all of the tips and tricks to prepare myself for caring for a newborn solo part time
These are really awesome tips!! Just about to have my third, and it was great to be reminded of these hacks that make the newborn stage so much easier ❤❤
@rebekahelias3303 of course!! Who wouldn't be. You're going to do absolutely amazing and in the difficult moments of labour pain just know it is definitely worth every minute, no question. Best wishes!
Great video! I'm due in a couple months with my second, so im trying to refresh my mind with all the newborn stuff. I'm sure I will be trying the cradle cap tip especially! As far as the footed sleepers go, I personally liked not having to deal with socks especially in the newborn stage, but my baby was also a little peanut who was swimming in newborn size clothes when she was born, so she didn't grow out of them for a long time. I also discovered that I prefer snaps over zippers, which surprised me because every thing I saw online said it would be the other around lol

Yes! Or a wipe on the belly before opening diaper
Or put a wipe and close :)
Or hold him over a potty to pee.
Or hold the baby to pee over the sink and you can just use water and safe wipes and a new diaper all together 👌

So thank u so much
I’m expecting a baby girl due in December! Thanks for the tips - hope I can remember them all 😅
Me too 🥹🩵
Thank you so much! I’m almost 35 weeks and due at the beginning of September with my first! I’m so excited and so scared at the same time.
Thank you !😊 On my third in October and these tips would have made me more relaxed and confident if i knew them earlier
Gosh its so hard but its getting better each day i love my daughter so much ❤❤❤
I'm 19 weeks and 3 days, so basically halfway there depending on when he delivers! Thanks for the video!
Expecting baby #2 in 3 weeks ❤
Thanks for the helpful tips!!
For the clothes I'm using a wardrobe and hangers + dividers and I store all the accesories in the small Ikea boxes in the drawer ❤ This way I can see all the baby's clothes perfectly!
Expecting my first & due date is tomorrow🫶🥹

@@jendickens2290 congrats Jen 🎊❤️
Tip #1!!! Yes! I do this now for my second & wish I knew with my first. Learned some new things from you for my third, thank you 🙏🏻
This is a complete guide.
Thank you so much
Second time mom here, but it's been 12 yeras so I'm willing to learn new stuff. ❤
Week 9 with my first born as a family medicine OB physician momma and I agree with ALL of this advice!!!!
Love this quicker style video! Thanks for all the tips!
Expecting number 2 in November!❤
Due March 2024 with my first. Thanks for the tips!
Ok I’m like 5 minutes in and I LOVE your positive demeanor 🤍
About 15 weeks with my first and these are very helpful tips. Thank you
Fantastic hacks and tips. Every bit of advice is well thought out and experiential, thanks Beth🍼🐣👼❤❤❤😁
This video helped a lot. I knew some of them while watching babies as I grew up. I'm due August 5th, 2024! 😍
My due is august 11, 2024..
I’m a new first time mummy. These tips are great. Thank you
Expecting first baby in December ❤ thanks for the tips!
Great video - and for us as first parents very helpful, thank you so much!
Baby comes next month 😵💫😱 first baby fear is real…you just want to watch and read everything but get overwhelmed
Same girl!
No worries most of us go through that real real fear. I never held a baby before my first son. And had absolutely no help after the C-section. And RUclips was real new and there was no real help or real openness information. Enjoy the crying, it’s communication even though it might feel overwhelming at times I take that challenge and love it
Congrats! By your avi I guess it went well? Due in 2 months here :) glad for your journey!
EDD November 2024, FTM here 💕 love your energy!
STM here, but since my first is already 7 years old, I am here to refresh my memories, and I am learning a lot! You look great as a mom of two (kids under 2!!)
Thanks for sharing the tips 🥰
And for fingernails, I remember for my first kid, the tip of her fingernails just fell off by themselves until when she was a few months old, so I never needed to clip her nails during that time. But great tips for clipping their nails when they are asleep, this would come in handy when baby is older too!
I'm expecting my third, but it's been a couple years so these are great reminders!
This was all so helpful! Thank you!!!
Those tips are also very usefuls for dads
Thank you for just relating to people it’s super encouraging!!
This was so helpful thank you! I love how you just go right into the info and you’re very natural at transitioning to each tip/topic, thank you.
My due date is March 20th! first baby
Hi there! Expecting twin girls November 16, 2023...🎉🎉🎉nervous but excited also! Ty for the tips!
I’m expecting my first baby in May 2024. This is a lovely sweet video. Thank-you!
Me too. May is so soon now too ❤❤
Hi Beth!!:) loved the video!
Same!
Thank you very much for the tips! I'm expecting my first baby in August so just trying to get my hands on as much useful advice and tips as I can before baby is here ❤
This is such an amazing informative video! Thank you for sharing all of this information!
Great tips. Thank you for making this video. It’s very informative and to the point.
Can you please link the rug in this video ? It’s beautiful ! And the video is super helpful
We’re expecting our first baby (boy) on the 10th of July! So excited and curious haha
We are expecting our first baby boy that day too!! All my love and strength to your family, Mama!!
@@user-wk5om8kf5b ahhh! So exciting🩵 thank you so much for your kind words! You too! ☺️☺️☺️
Thanks
Girls pee too when the cool air hits them (or a cool wipe). I wasn't expecting this until I found out first hand.
I've found those tiny mittens useless and use socks on their hands instead. They stay on much better and keep babies face scratch free.
Also, not every baby likes to be swaddled. My tip would be to experiment until you get it right. Try the full body swaddle, or the torso and legs only (some babies find comfort in having their hands at their face), or perhaps its a sleep sack that works best!
Expecting first baby boy on 15th July, can't wait 😄
Very helpful tips, thank you
Hey, congrats! I’m expecting my first (a boy) on July 15th too! Good luck with everything😊
it never really occured to me that not everyone has changed a nappy before! i just assumed everyone knew the first wipe with a nappy trick! im due in august xx

Thanks for all of the tips! I’m expecting my first baby (a boy ❤) at the beginning of October and my husband is starting a new job where he will be gone for weeks at a time. I am looking for all of the tips and tricks to prepare myself for caring for a newborn solo part time

Due in 6 days!! Thank you so much!
These are really awesome tips!! Just about to have my third, and it was great to be reminded of these hacks that make the newborn stage so much easier ❤❤
What a great video. My first is nearly 5 and i am due in a week with the second. I have forgotten so much that you are reminding me of! Thanks!!! ❤

@@myahgormley9788 thanks!! I’m super excited and nervous at the same time!
@rebekahelias3303 of course!! Who wouldn't be. You're going to do absolutely amazing and in the difficult moments of labour pain just know it is definitely worth every minute, no question. Best wishes!
Expecting my first baby due in October! These are good tips, thank you! ❤️
Me too❤ hope your delivery goes well!!!
Thank you for a nice start with these tips!
Im expecting a girl in april 2024!!
This was such helpful info! A lot of it I haven’t heard in other videos. Thank you so much 😊
4 more days!!! So excited 😆
