Thanks for the videos, CJ. I did the salmon tonight. I did not flip it. Folks should be aware that if you don't flip, you may end up with a crunchy bottom side...(hummm, don't go there!) On high for about nine minutes, the fillet was moist and flakey. The lid was open only long enough to turn off the FLIP on the display. Pellets were the Kona All Purpose that came with the grill. Took longer to warm the grill up than cook our meal!
CJ a couple questions on smoking the salmon seen two recipes one yours 250 smoke the whole time. Take it out if it when I’ve seen is smoking grill at 350. I tried both I kinda like yours a little bit better doesn’t beat the fish up as much but What should I take it to because I want to give it an air crisp at the end so what do I do? Stop cooking when he gets to 135 and then shut it down and then go to air Chris and what temperature should I put it? Where can I buy the West Coast shake!
Maybe get it to 110 or so, then hit it with the air crisp. Then take it to the 135. Keep it from over cooking. And go to unclestevesshake.com and you can find my west coast shake on there.
Hey man, just wanted to let you know you helped me decide to buy the Ninja Woodfire grill. One question, I imagine you don't need a really long smoke time for fish. Should I still fill the smoke-box all the way up with pellets, or can I cut the quantity of pellets in half when grilling/smoking fish? My bad if you alreay answered this question before.
Thank you for gilling/smoking salmon. I had asked for fish grilling and you came thru!!! Yes!!! Although I too, am not a huge fish fan, I do like salmon and meaty whitefish. Mostly I like it blackened but I did try Uncle Steve's Sweet and SpicyR on some chicken wings and I LOVED IT, so I know it will be amazing on fish!!!
Hey CJ, just purchase my ninja Woodfire, getting ready to use it for the first time, I was looking through videos to see procedure, splicing and tips. The fact that you put a oil on the spiced it, etc. Thank you, eat that salmon! Peace out!
Cj big fan brother your my go to one the reasons i bought a ninja smoker xl. Iv done salmon before but just got fresh halibut. Whats your take think i could smoke it on the ninja
@@CookingWithCJ got it. But yea. The kinds of fish I smoke leaves big odor. I'm gonna use that cleaner u have used on your XL grill to see how it goes.
Great videos! Can you try to get all the pellets into the smoker basket in a video someday? You keep spilling some out and saying it's no big deal. But it is because I have OCD and you're doing this to get to me or something.
Hi CJ thanks for the vid. Agree with you about salmon. I like sea bass, Mackrell, and all other fish but salmon? I've tried to like it and can still eat it, reluctantly. The Ninja cooks it really well it's just the fish. Other fish taste really fresh or of the sea but salmon tastes really 'FISHY"
Love how at 4:12 you basically point out your mistake with the temp spike probe 😂 Needs to be past that line there to get a proper temperature. Although you basically used the product to advertise it haha😂(not criticising).
I do not like salmon either but my wife and daughter do. When they get bagels with salmon, I'm always telling them that they just ruined a perfectly good bagel.
Arghhh Why can't I get a straight answer anywhere.. does the element heat from below as well. Might not be lying but you're not telling the whole truth

Yeah I'd cut the amount of pellets in there, but you need to make sure there are enough in the hopper to catch by the igniter.

Awesome! That’s my favorite shake! Thanks much!

You are the man, the real deal.
Cheers! Thanks!
I’m not too keen on fish. But trying this because my wife loves salmon ❤
Gotta keep the wife happy. Thanks!
Can u still use this in rain or snow weather conditions
Not entirely sure on that one. Don’t get much off either in SoCal
What temp did you go to?
I took them to 135ish
Could one use a grill plank in the WoodFire to deepen the smoke flavor by making the salmon atop a plank?
I'm not sure. Give it a try
That Salmon is more than done Home boy
How about what pellets you used???
I think I used a competition blend.
Looks amazing!
Thank you!!
Lisa and I love our salmon! Awesome!
Right on!
Love your videos! But one question with fish. I've been smoking fish and I love it. But it leaves a smell. How would u get that smell out?
Thanks! Honestly I only did the salmon once, so I haven’t had to deal with the fish smell. I’m not a huge fan of fish.
@@CookingWithCJ got it. But yea. The kinds of fish I smoke leaves big odor. I'm gonna use that cleaner u have used on your XL grill to see how it goes.
Looks good CJ, I'm not a big fan of grilled Salmon, but I love salmon patties made from canned salmon.👍
Right on! Thanks bro!
1,000 Likes. Waiting for that Salmon tasting video to drop 😂
Um.... the statue of limitations is up on it... LOL
@@CookingWithCJ 🤣
You said not like 5 years!! It’s only one year! I second the motion
Do you have videos useing the probe that comes with it? Is it not accurate?
No, ninja didn’t send me the pro models. So I use my TempSpike Bluetooth thermometer when I cook in the Woodfire.
Love this smoker
👍🏻👍🏻
My woodfire grill is on its way. Would love to see you use the dehydrate function.
Awesome! I’ll see what I can do. Thanks!
Great videos! Can you try to get all the pellets into the smoker basket in a video someday? You keep spilling some out and saying it's no big deal. But it is because I have OCD and you're doing this to get to me or something.
I’ll work on it
Now we talking 😋😋
😀😀😀
Can you do smoked salmon? I haven't seen any video on it.
Honestly, I’m really not a fan of salmon, this video was hard enough for me. Lol

Try teriyaki marinade for Salmon... you will love the taste!

I’m with ya! Thanks for checking it out.

Looks amazing, can’t wait to try out salmon on mines, is it better to use the mild smoke flavor?
Thanks! Yes, mild would be better.
Love how at 4:12 you basically point out your mistake with the temp spike probe 😂

oops not a big Salmon fan myself thank you
Right?! No bueno!
I do not like salmon either but my wife and daughter do. When they get bagels with salmon, I'm always telling them that they just ruined a perfectly good bagel.
Yes! I agree!
Arghhh Why can't I get a straight answer anywhere.. does the element heat from below as well. Might not be lying but you're not telling the whole truth
Is you’re using the grill setting, yes it heats from the bottom and the top. Any other features it’s just the top. Hope that answers your question.
Why does that matter? I'm only asking because im a beginner and truly am looking for an education, not trying to be an ass LOL
Looks burnt
Thanks for watching
do you use the ninja pallets or do you use your own?
I’ve been using whatever pellets I have, just make sure they’re food safe pellets.
