"And I can hear my old hound dog barkin', Chasin' down a hoo-doo there." Even though I've known for a very long time that they are from El Cerrito, CA, it is still astonishing to me how evocative of the south some of their songs are. Especially because they had never been there before making it big.

Two non-musician Bay Area music legends featured briefly: the portly bearded fellow who introduces CCR at the Oakland Arena is Tom Donahue, one of only three disc jockeys inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the mustachioed journalist is Ralph J. Gleason, one of the founders of Rolling Stone and he also wrote the liner notes for CCRs first album.
Spectacular job compiling all this footage and audio. I saw this in 1971 when I was probably 7 or 8 years old. I’ve often wondered why it’s not available.

ZZ and Eagles saw and learned from Creedence's mistake in going at it too hard. Later on, Dire Straits too. Janis Joplin at 40:02
"Fogerty tried to be Beatles and Who." How so? I'm not sure what you mean? Certainly not their sound, which is authentically their own. Did you mean chasing popularity or something like that? Thanks.
@@roberthill799 Stylistically. The album as concept. Certainly Fogerty swiped the guitar on "Me and My Monkey." "It's Just a Thought" sounds like Who's "1921".
It's amazing "The Lost Oakland Broadcast". For more than 50 years I've been looking for the subtitles of this Documentary Show. I live in Florianópolis - Santa Catarina - Brazil. I have tried, with many people, in English language schools but such people are not interested or do not have enough knowledge to make the subtitles mentioned at the beginning. If anyone can help me get them I would be very happy.
I really hate when they talk over the fucking music. If I wanted to listen to your commentary, I would wait till the end of the tape to listen to it where it should be.
You have no idea what you are talking about-do a little reading into the history of CCR and you will come out with a completely different way of looking at John Fogerty. At the very least, read the book Fortunate Son. I don’t think John made up facts for his worldwide published autobiography.
The song is 'Time is Tight' by Booker T. and the MG's. John Fogerty was a huge fan of the band and it's guitarist Steve Cropper, he went from big fan to employer when they ended up being CCR's opening band on that leg of the tour. Quite a thing to have your influences end up being your openers!

Hard to believe it was just 15 years between this film and Fogerty's 1985 comeback ... when age 40 was 'old'.
