@@Beernutz71GBD yeah but you were making excuses, Chargers & Challengers are plain and cheap af, that’s why even has them, cause they are way cheaper than camaros
A friend of mine had a 2020 SS 1LE. It was an exceptional performing car. It handled almost as well as another friend's GT350R. It was a blast to shift the gears under full throttle. The Camaro seemed faster than my 392 T/A. I could not get over the claustrophobic feeling the Camaro gave me. Also, the seat was rough on my back arthritis. If you could get the rear of the seat bottom to adjust higher, it would help. My new work vehicle has the same problem. It's a 2020 Malibu and I am going to trade it for an older car in the fleet because it is murder on my back.
The camaro definitely has a different look and feel. You sit way down in the car.. takes some getting used to. The scat is definitely the more comfortable car of the two.. Mopars have those big plush seats
Good matchup and comparison between two N/A cars! I actually was real close to ordering a 6th gen ZL1....I like the way it drove, and it handles well and is a quick car! It also actually wasn’t hard to see out of like a lot of people complained about, but I think the windows made it “feel” claustrophobic. For me, it was hard to get in and out of, and the back seat and trunk opening sucked. Having owned 7 Camaros over the past 30 years, I really want to like it....but I just can’t quite get there. The 6th gen Camaro is like Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and the Challenger is like Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)...one you just want to look at, one you just want to touch...LOL. Both these cars really are closely matched in all around performance. I still own a 2nd and 4th gen Camaro as weekend/summer time toys, so I didn’t need another car that spends more time in the garage than driving it. IMO, the Challenger is more user friendly on a daily basis, and better looking. So it’s a win for the Challenger....
@@samholcombe3129 it's pretty close. Especially when you compare it to the others. Granted Camaro and Mustang aren't Muscle Cars they were Pony cars in the 60s. I think the weight actually helps the Challenger/Charger with some amazing road manners. Especially on long road trips.
Great review Racer X! Even though that Camaro is a bit faster on the high end, my choice would still be the 392. Punchy low end and a old school iron block FTW! Not only that but IMO The Challenger just looks better!
Look at the speed graph. You can clearly see where the scat shifts where as the camaro is smooth as butter. Also on the scats quickest run it was uphill. Both cars are very close. Definitely a drivers race.
I know thos posted a year ago. However I actually traded a 2018 Camaro SS for my current 2020 Scat Pack Challenger. The Camaro was a manual however. It's really a hard choice. I think I favor the Challenger for a lot of reasons. Now, not long ago I had the chance to takeba manual Scat Pack for good distance drive. Itbwas a whole different story. Because of that day, I have a widebody Shaker with the Tremec on order. Can't wait.
This type of testing is better and safer than roll racing imo as long as it’s done same day and place, as conditions vary. Too many potential excuses with roll racing. These results seem about right. I owned a scatpack and a gen 6 ss before my Hellcat. The camaro felt faster to me via the butt dyno, especially at higher speeds. 60-130 interests me much more than 0-60 these days. My 16’ auto Hellcat challenger with tune and pulley has done a best of 7.4 60-130 in decent air. Still not fast enough for me though 😬
Great video! The only thing I see that's wrong with these rolls is you're not entirely starting at 60, then stepping on it, but maybe the draggy makes you do the passes that way? Because I feel like these times would be a bit different, but then again I never used a draggy but I beat a Camaro by 2 cars with my exhaust only. Weight reduction helps a lot as well.
Yes the idea with these tests is to be at full throttle well before you hit 60mph. I actually tried leaving at 60 in my initial testing of the draggy a while back .. everyone kept asking why my times were so slow. You can still do the test that way but you cant compare to others since typically everyone gets a full head of steam prior to hitting 60.
I’m 37 and work as parts manager at a Chevy dealership, I just bought a Challenger 392 wide body, why? While the camaro is a great car, it kills my back commuting to and from work. The challenger is more comfortable and has great performance with the manual.
I just got a dragy yesterday. Can’t wait to start playing with it. Have u tested the HC with the same method you’re testing these cars? Great video bro

You try to come off as a car guy but when the chally and charger gets out done you try to downplay it and say something that doesn't matter like "the scat is faster before the 1/8" like thats a performance feat to brag about if that was true. Equal drivers at any track any test the camaro ss will come out on top over a scat pack.
the thing that's throwing these numbers off is the location you're doing the pulls- you're going over an underpass so the ground isn't flat, and especially on your way down from the incline it's making the cars go way faster than they normally do
The hemi is designed to be more of a drag strip engine which means you gonna get a quick burst out the gates and the ls engines is vise versa , but nothing sounds better than a hemi full throttle 😩
@Michael Cass the camero does have torque, the ls and Lt engines are well balanced because they are good on the strip and good on highway pulls , mustangs use to be the king of top ends until the 10 speed started getting dropped in the cameros, stock for stock a 10 speed maro is going to give the mustang a run Forsure !!
Nice video! More fun than the typical dig on the street where there are so many variables. I’d be interested in seeing how the Gen3 Coyote 10 speed would do. Drive to LI and you can use mine LOL!
I have outrun a 10sd coyote in my Scat. We only went to 100. On the street from 0 to 100 is the magic place to be good at. And driver skill always plays a part. I know the Mustang would have caught and passed me after that. The weight and lack of aerodynamics is too much to overcome in the Scat.
My average speed around here is like 45 :-) I like a car for comfort and visibility. I always was a Camaro guy but these new ones although they look awesome as hell, they seem very difficult to back up or park one

the intake manifold runner control causes a huge dip in the hp and trq once the runner goes to the short runner mode at higher rpm. If you get a solid dyno tune to help smooth that transition then you dont notice the top end loosing some power.
My SS Camaro rag top with traction control off 60 to 130 beats your 10:79 times. I went out and performed the same 3 runs at 2am with my draggy. Temperatures were cold, 42 degrees at that time in the morning. But the road was clear and safe. My average was a 10:54 with less than quarter tank of premium fuel 91 in California. Motor is all stock, except exhaust system. Has X pipe with high flow catalytic converters.
I ran the same 2018 Scat pack 0 to 60 a few days ago Racer X. Your prediction is wrong, we ran 4 times, I hooked up fine, scat pack couldn't. I drove away with traction control on and smoked the scat pack everytime. Just wanted you to know. Don't mess with a 2018 SS Camaro if you don't want to get smoked Racer X' hehehe
I would think a hellcat vs zl1 camaro 60-130 would be cool. I haven't recorded my hellcat because I never think of it but I can legit do 130 before I even hit the highway on the ramp lol.
Drag racing is boring. the Camaro is an all around better sports car not only can they do straight line but hit the corners too and look a hell of alot better doin it.
It may be the faster car but is it actually the better car? Can't see out of your pill box and parking it is guess work at best. The thing wont age well either and its a GM product... Same ppl who brought us the Avalanche so i'm sure its a real qaulity piece right?
I found the same type of results when I had my ‘13 Avenger R/T. I would run it against a Cobalt SS and I would be in front until I hit 5th gear. After that he start to pull on me. Makes me wonder if the Dodge transmissions need better tuning.
So I own both. And I have a love hate with both cars. I own the 2019 Dodge Challenger RT though not the scat pack. But yeah I have a few videos of both. I'll keep posting more. The Camaro is a 2SS and is a 2018.
Great reviews. Hope you get more views and subscribers. Respect both they are very fast and very good looking too. Long live American muscle. All brands....any brand is better than japanese cars. Like the yaris or Prius or smart car or tesla.🤮🤮🤮
The thing is that the variables you say this test takes out are basically what we all expericence in real life - that stop light charge or turn onto an on ramp is often where things matter in the real world. Rarely are you on a highway at 60 and feel the need or desire to push to 130. The lown down grunt is important but a car has to be able to effiectively and consistently put it down.
Is this run in the Scat the same car as the run in the Scat in the video with the R/T? Same mechanically? If so, is the only difference heat and time of day? 13.8 I think the Scat did in the older video is a bit different than shown here. Crazy how much difference the weather can make!
Just picked up a 2021 Charger Scat Pack in Frostbite. Still have yet to run it against my buddy’s 2016 Camaro 2SS with a 6 speed. That car is pretty ridiculous. It would be close.
Kinda makes me wonder about the different levels to compare, like maybe a Scatpack is a notch below the SS so it's not fair, but a Hellcat would be a notch above the SS so that wouldnt be fair either.
Dodge could extend the current Charger/Challenger platform a few more years by just replacing some of the body panels, and suspension/frame components with aluminum, and start making the engine blocks out of aluminum. They could easily shed 400-500lbs. It would improve mpg, and performance. Yes it would increase the cost per vehicle, but it would be a Hell of a lot cheaper than developing a whole new platform.
The best results were came from firmly rolling in at 25mph and having it all the way down at 50.. stabbing it in 2nd was slower.. leaving from a dig was slower.. RPM was not a big factor as long as you were at full throttle by 45mph. Manually shifting the cars also proved to be slower and less consistent
Good Vid! I own a 2020 Ss and I will tell you that on a roll she pulls best by putting the car in paddle shift mode and holding it paddle down and that puts the car in its most optimal gear then stabbing it then immediately throw her back in auto and she pulls like crazy.

I personally have an liking towards the way the Challenger feels, but that is entirely a opinion of mine and mine alone. All three of them are fantastic cars that are soo close to each other with performance that I can't ever say one is better then the others. I know that doesn't really help to answer your question, but it's a question that just has to be answered by oneself after having taken a trip in all three. I have a buddy of mine who will ONLY drive a mustang and swears that its the best. But then again, I have another buddy who will not give up their 1LE for anything. I am personally wanting a 6.4 Chally. If I can save up enough money, I'd get the Hellcat. But my heart truly wants a Demon but my wallet absolutely won't let it. At the end of the day, you have to decide which one you think is the best one.
ForNoRaisin you actually wrote a whole essay haha, you are actually very very correct it all comes down to what you like best 🤷♂️ and what like everyone says ”there is always someone faster than you” and I agree but I love all three tbh but I've always had challenger's in my heart 😈
Good to see you put so much effort for the content.. love your videos 👍🏽

Still slower
People like to compare mustangs n stuff with these monsters of cars like try putting a 392 into a stang I bet that thing will just spin rather than move dodge has the weight yea but u can’t compare to these engines
@@HiRy420 The 5.0 is also a beast on its own, it'll handle a lot more power adders. Personally, I see the mustang and maro as muscle-like sports car where the challenger lives up to the classic muscle criteria.

Absolutely 🤜🔥
Every time I watch your videos I'm in love with the Dodge Challenger Scat pack! My ultimate dream car! ☺ Thanks & God bless you!
Another great video! Thanks Racer X!
Thank you Jaye
Better looking? 😂🤢
I'd like to see one of these with the gen 1 2 and 3 coyotes against each other! just to see the improvement
Now I know. I traded in my 2016 challenger scat pack for a 2021 camaro ss lt1. BOTH cars are a blast to drive!
Ive always said. They retroed the Challenger so well. They damn near hit 1970 weight as well.
They are not light lol
@@RacerX9 hey fat kids need love too brother!!! lol
I think they went over 1970 weight
Google machine says 1970 R/T 426 hemi weighs 3800 lbs
@@samholcombe3129 it's pretty close. Especially when you compare it to the others. Granted Camaro and Mustang aren't Muscle Cars they were Pony cars in the 60s. I think the weight actually helps the Challenger/Charger with some amazing road manners. Especially on long road trips.
Great review Racer X! Even though that Camaro is a bit faster on the high end, my choice would still be the 392. Punchy low end and a old school iron block FTW! Not only that but IMO The Challenger just looks better!
Still love the way the scatpack drives on the street.. tons of fun
@@RacerX9 Let the 392 work it's voodoo!

Thank you my friend 👍
Look at the speed graph. You can clearly see where the scat shifts where as the camaro is smooth as butter. Also on the scats quickest run it was uphill. Both cars are very close. Definitely a drivers race.
it was probably in track mode, it calls for more aggressive shifts so i wouldnt expect it to be as smooth as the camaro
Great content as always, thanks RacerX!
You bet 🤜🔥
The Camaro is a beast! Its so sad to see the sales of this car drop so low. A true dying breed.
I’m 37 and work as parts manager at a Chevy dealership, I just bought a Challenger 392 wide body, why? While the camaro is a great car, it kills my back commuting to and from work. The challenger is more comfortable and has great performance with the manual.

I've always like the Charger and Challenger ,strong cars but too heavy..
If it's too slow make it faster.
@@LiuBeiVirtue those engines are maxed out already very very little gains without major internal work, in dodges case they need less weight.
@@piccolo398 little gains are still gains, I do agree though making them less heavy would help but the car can always be made faster with the money to do so.
@@LiuBeiVirtue about all your going to get is maybe a additional 15 hp. Those motors can’t be boosted without all new internals and running NOS on stock internals is pretty dangerous. Why lol i wanna kno
Hell of a car for the money. Its a no brainer for me.
Just imagine being a car salesmen and this guy walks in just to say, "Hey I wanted to make a video of some of your cars not trying to buy anything" lol
Or imagine that same guy walking in that told you he wants to use your cars to promote their dealership and its highly likely that more that 50,000 car people will see it in the first month alone.. which will actually reach more target audience than a commercial run on a local network that could cost anywhere from 15-20k .. then imagine he says he's going to do it for free! Hmmmm maybe there is a reason that more than a dozen of the local dealerships keep asking me to come review their cars.. go figure lol
@@RacerX9 badass response 👍🏻
Camaro ss owns scat packs in every performance category lets be real.
Just keep in mind that the camaro loses in all metrics 1/8th mile and less.. to include 60ft .. So it depends on what you like
@@RacerX9 not true, your Mopar bias blinds you. You try to come off as a car guy but when the chally and charger gets out done you try to downplay it and say something that doesn't matter like "the scat is faster before the 1/8" like thats a performance feat to brag about if that was true. Yeah it will then the scatpack grabs a second wind, well my charger does anyway, it seems to slow a bit 100 to 130 then goodbye.
@@Ecoboosttookadump Is this on a scat?
the thing that's throwing these numbers off is the location you're doing the pulls- you're going over an underpass so the ground isn't flat, and especially on your way down from the incline it's making the cars go way faster than they normally do
Love your vids man

They do take some getting used to
I have a hard time fitting in those. I'm 6'1 and 230lbs, much more comfortable in a Challenger coupe verses a camaro coupe...lol

@@techmaster777 more around 137-138 I’ve posted my runs on the draggy app just got a 6.36 last night 60-130 😁 world record holder for the V
the intake manifold runner control causes a huge dip in the hp and trq once the runner goes to the short runner mode at higher rpm. If you get a solid dyno tune to help smooth that transition then you dont notice the top end loosing some power.
I wonder if putting the car in cruise control at 60 then stomping the gas what difference would it make
Great content

Dodge got to work on that top end some
They can work on top end all day but their weight is whats killing them

Drag racing is boring. the Camaro is an all around better sports car not only can they do straight line but hit the corners too and look a hell of alot better doin it.
What would be a solid respectable 60-130 time? I know anything below a 4 second 0-60 is a fast car but don’t know what a sold 60-130 time would be.
Whatever these cars do. The V8 Mustang of your time period is always the benchmark for a “fast” car.
the challenger as well as most dodges are dangerously fast low end but their aero prevents them from doing too well up top

I found the same type of results when I had my ‘13 Avenger R/T. I would run it against a Cobalt SS and I would be in front until I hit 5th gear. After that he start to pull on me. Makes me wonder if the Dodge transmissions need better tuning.
Power to weight, gearing, and aero .. those are the factors
Dodge cars are geared for low-end acceleration as they are heavier. Honestly with this in mind, I'm very impressed with how well the 392 did.
do you guys still have red line editions nice
So I own both. And I have a love hate with both cars. I own the 2019 Dodge Challenger RT though not the scat pack. But yeah I have a few videos of both. I'll keep posting more. The Camaro is a 2SS and is a 2018.

How about 0-130?
Another great video keep it up
Much appreciated my friend
You really can't go wrong with either
The thing is that the variables you say this test takes out are basically what we all expericence in real life - that stop light charge or turn onto an on ramp is often where things matter in the real world. Rarely are you on a highway at 60 and feel the need or desire to push to 130. The lown down grunt is important but a car has to be able to effiectively and consistently put it down.
The camaro does not weight 4600 pounds
You are absolutely right.
Excellent video Great content!!
Thank you my friend
Ive always wonder are there mods to increase that top end and loose some torque in the scatpack i rather have top end
Kinda makes me wonder about the different levels to compare, like maybe a Scatpack is a notch below the SS so it's not fair, but a Hellcat would be a notch above the SS so that wouldnt be fair either.
Awesome content buddy 👍
Thank you Chad..
Would also make them wayyyy faster
Can you do a new mustang and we can see the difference between the 3? Thanks keep up the hard work!
I will see what I can do..
Controlling the RPMs with paddles/ would make a difference with both cars on how fast the times could come out
The best results were came from firmly rolling in at 25mph and having it all the way down at 50.. stabbing it in 2nd was slower.. leaving from a dig was slower..
Awesome vid!
