I feel like the scatpack pulls hard at lower speed because of its shorter gearing allowing for more torque at the wheels compared to the camaro. Dodge did a good job in that respect hiding the challenger's weight. Once at higher speeds, there's no hiding the weight and aero though.

The strength of the Scat Pack isn't roll racing; it is from a dig. Three factors point this out and they are as follows when it comes to the Scat Pack:
1.) It is heavy. 2.) It isn't aerodynamic. 3.) Because of the other 2 factors, the 6.4 liter Hemi is optimized for low end and midrange power.
I've raced quite a few Mustang GTs, Camaro SSs, and Scat Packs and I have observed the following:
1.) Of the 3, the Mustang is the laziest off the line. However, it is the best of the 3 in a roll race and will tend to trap higher in the quarter mile.
2.) The Scat Pack is the quickest off the line and more often quicker to the eighth mile than either the Camaro or the Mustang. On the big end the Mustang and Camaro have a chance to reel the Scat Pack in.
3.) The Camaro is quicker off the line than the Mustang. It isn't quite as quick off the line as the Scat Pack. The Camaro is better than the Scat Pack in a roll race. However, the Mustang will have the edge more often than not in a roll race.
When it comes to the 3 cars, it is a matter of what you prefer. If you like a car that has good low end and midrange power and has excellent throttle response, get the Scat Pack. If you like a car that winds out and produces high top end speeds, get the Mustang. The Camaro produces good low end, midrange, and top end power. However, it doesn't stand out in relation to the Mustang and Scat Pack any of the 3 aspects. The Mustang is the pony car. The Scat Pack is the muscle car. Although the Camaro is a very good car, it doesn't have a distinct identity. That's one reason why the Camaro sales trail both the Mustang and Scat Pack. However, if you're looking at the used car market, the Camaro is worth considering. It depreciates faster than the Scat Pack and Mustang. When it comes to a quarter mile race, more often than not it is a drivers' race. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3 cars.

My 2011 convertible ss kill scats you did mess 1 thing up though camaros are trailed for track use so in fact they’re great at high torque but shit at low end power UNLESS you go with an aftermarket torque converter to give yourself that RPM kick because they don’t reach good torque until 3k

Forgot to mention the camaros handling abilities. Its unmatched. Hit a corner to hard in a scat pak and u could very well kill yourself. Also that mustang is very light in the a$$. The Camaro is the better balanced and aerodynamic. And 455/455 is an even powerband specifically built to track. I drove all 3 of em. And thats what i noticed.

They're both nice cars (more when you get into the higher $$$ trim levels), but compared to how aggressive the Challenger looks at every trim level just makes me smile. The cameras and the mustangs look absolutely NOTHING like the classic muscle cars do. The challenger is the only car left that has retained that classic American Muscle look. Some people, like myself value that a lot because I love old school American Muscle. Like if you offered me a 1967 Shelby GT500 I would absolutely take that over any dodge. But if you offered me anything after like 1990 I would probably throw up in my mouth a little bit. I guess in short what I am trying to say is, these new camaros and mustangs are not camaros and mustangs. They have ZERO resemblance to the legendary cars they once were.

Good matchup and comparison between two N/A cars! I actually was real close to ordering a 6th gen ZL1....I like the way it drove, and it handles well and is a quick car! It also actually wasn’t hard to see out of like a lot of people complained about, but I think the windows made it “feel” claustrophobic. For me, it was hard to get in and out of, and the back seat and trunk opening sucked. Having owned 7 Camaros over the past 30 years, I really want to like it....but I just can’t quite get there. The 6th gen Camaro is like Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and the Challenger is like Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)...one you just want to look at, one you just want to touch...LOL. Both these cars really are closely matched in all around performance. I still own a 2nd and 4th gen Camaro as weekend/summer time toys, so I didn’t need another car that spends more time in the garage than driving it. IMO, the Challenger is more user friendly on a daily basis, and better looking. So it’s a win for the Challenger....

These results seem about right. I owned a scatpack and a gen 6 ss before my Hellcat. The camaro felt faster to me via the butt dyno, especially at higher speeds.
60-130 interests me much more than 0-60 these days. My 16’ auto Hellcat challenger with tune and pulley has done a best of 7.4 60-130 in decent air. Still not fast enough for me though 😬

Yes the idea with these tests is to be at full throttle well before you hit 60mph. I actually tried leaving at 60 in my initial testing of the draggy a while back .. everyone kept asking why my times were so slow. You can still do the test that way but you cant compare to others since typically everyone gets a full head of steam prior to hitting 60.

Dodge could extend the current Charger/Challenger platform a few more years by just replacing some of the body panels, and suspension/frame components with aluminum, and start making the engine blocks out of aluminum. They could easily shed 400-500lbs. It would improve mpg, and performance. Yes it would increase the cost per vehicle, but it would be a Hell of a lot cheaper than developing a whole new platform.
