Wow I was raised vegan until I was 6 and then vegetarian after that and I’ve only eaten meat a couple times. My body has been breaking down for so long and I can’t believe I’m just now finding out that protein and vitamin deficiencies could be causing this
I couldn't sort out, dear, how to save from uric-acid and triglycerides problems and at the same time have a rich protein diet? I'm 62, a researcher by profession. Your help will definitely be supportive to others like me.
Protein is also found in vegetables, for instance broccoli. It's not just meat and eggs contain very little protein; you'd have to eat a LOT. Beans and nuts are also a good source of protein or quinoa and buckwheat.
UNLEASHING POTENTIAL - PSYCHOLOGY VIDEOS I have vertical ridges on my fingernails but I feel like I eat a lot of protein everyday but the ridges aren’t nearly as prominent as the ones in the thumbnail. Also my nails are pretty sturdy.
River Smithe, below is info on horizontal lines: Horizontal nail ridges running from side to side of the nail, known as Beau's lines, may be a sign of previous injury, underlying health conditions, or in rare cases, arsenic poisoning.
This is a very important video. Most people do not know this. Thank you for sharing this. I started eating more meat (beef especially) I'm finally starting to feel better. God bless you!
Deficiencies can also be due to poor assimilation. which can be linked to certain vitamin and mineral deficiencies. It can be complicated and isn't always simply because there is not enough protein rich foods in the diet.
Correct, it's not always black and white, while for example someone might eat more than the recommended amount of protein, but still get a protein deficient affects, could actually be down to your bodies processing plant being inefficient in providing you with the necessary protein, or a host of other reasons.
Guess that's still not enough proof for vegans that proteins AND even cholesterol are important for our bodies to work properly and stay healthy. Even eggs are enough to keep a good protein level. But proteins from animals (meat, lard) are the best you can get. The last year or so I ate less proteins than I needed. Not on porpose, I just ate less. When I noticed that my fatique, memory loss, sleep deprivation and dry skin are a result of having not enough proteins, I changed that. I started to eat more eggs (I usually had them maybe twice/month), more meat and beef, more fish (wich I had maybe once/month) and started to use lard in my cooking. And voilá: All the symptoms dissapeared and even my nails are superstrong now. My mood is better and I my brain works faster. Protein is essential for our bodies.
It would help if people actually disliked videos that didn't actually provide correct information. People see a lot of likes and assume the video information is correct. There is a choice but look at how many people actually dislike a video.
That's because your body becomes less efficient at processing the food as you get older, so the result is not enough protein causing the nail ridges, so to prevent this encourage a higher dose of protein intake, ie, if the body processes just 80% of the protein instead of the 100% it used to do, then increase your intake by 20% to make up the difference ! so while you are correct in saying old age is to blame. that doesn't mean to say you can't mitigate some of the effects !
You are right about it being age dependent. A high urea cream (40%) applied regularly to the fingertips can get rid of ridges - it is inconvenient to do, though.
@ As the minimum required amount of protein needed is quite low - 0.8 g / kg body weight (or 0.36 g per lb), very few people will actually have protein deficiency and eating animal products is not necessary to get that level of protein intake. More protein is needed for people who exercise (a lot) and older people also may require more. Consumption of too much protein is a driver of disease and aging - particularly overconsumption of the amino acids methionine and leucine, which activate the mTOR pathway. Exercise can mitigate the effects somewhat but most people do not exercise enough. OTOH as we age there appears to be increased need of glycine and possibly proline; collagen is mainly composed of glycine and proline. Excessive proline consumption, however, can increase risk of kidney stones.
Diagnosis through nails has been known to both Ayurveda and Oriental Medicine for at least 10,000 years. Ridges do not absolutely mean protein deficiency as there is a whole system behind nail diagnosis. The nails are also a direct reflection of the health of one’s liver.
