    Hi Jim. Yes the SD40-2 was one of the best & most plentiful locomotives ever produced in the US... These are quite distinctive with those "porches" - never mind the handsome livery as you say!
    Thing is, unless absolute fidelity to a specific prototype is what brings you the most joy, I'd say keep it - MRR'ing is full of compromises, and using a little "modeler's license" in order to run something you enjoy is certainly an option!
    Cheers from across the pond,
    Charlie

      @openeyes-411 thanks Charlie! I think I'll hang onto it, for the time being at least. I do enjoy running it, and it'll look nice in a cabinet eventually. Unless I need the finance for something else, in which case I'll be in the same dilemma 😂

    That's a nice locomotive., You could paint it orange and Burdakin blue, apply a big GT noodle and be totally legit, although I can't say for sure if GTW used theirs to switch the paper spur. I think they may have used whatever power was available.

      @jimbarrett1975  29 дней назад +1

      @thomasdecker7631 hmm, tempting option, I'll think about that. I need to get a bit of practice with the airbrush first. Would the six axle loco have been too heavy for the Port Huron line, or do you think they would have used them? *Edit - I've just found a photo of an SD70 on the paper spur, so weight not an issue!

      @jimbarrett1975  29 дней назад

      @thomasdecker7631 The more I think about it, the more I like this idea - the GTW livery is great and whether they ran on the branch or not really doesn't matter.
