- Marryanne Gray is living with the shame and guilt of accidentally killing someone. It happened in 1977 near Oxford, Ohio, when she was 22 years old. She was driving her dad’s car down a two-lane county road, going the speed limit of 45 miles per hour. All of a sudden, she says she saw a pale flash and felt a bump. She had hit and killed an 8-year-old boy named Brian, who ran out into the street while getting the mail. She says after 44 years, she still struggles to find joy in her life.
The fact that she didn’t have children of her own because she feels like she doesn’t deserve it breaks my heart ☹️

A good friend of mine hit a 8 year old boy on his bicycle, his parents had previously warned him to stop riding his bike from the top of their driveway which was on a hill down to the road below because he might not be able to stop fast enough… he didn’t listen and accidentally went into the road. The family didn’t blame her, they forgave her and invited her to his funeral. Even though they forgave her for what was an accident and not her fault, she could never forgive herself and suffers still all these years later. A warning to parents, if your child refuses to follow the rules for their safety, take away their bike/riding toys etc, because a tragedy only takes a moment to happen but the pain is forever.
This same thing happened to my grandmother, we were drive through the neighborhood when a little boy on a bike came shooting off his blind driveway which was a steep hill! My grandmother was going about 20mph but he was flying and it happened so fast that no one had the time to react! And this was back before bike helmets! The boy survived, but he was crippled for the rest of his life. I was young and in the front seat when it happened. I got glass in my eye and remember the paramedics taking care of me. My grandma is the type to cry if she hits a bird or squirrel, so it devastated her! The family was kind to her and she stayed in contact with the family for many years. We still talk about it to this day. My grandmother is very sickly now and can’t remember much, but she still recalls that with a clarity that makes me know it has always weighed heavily on her heart.

I'm sorry that happened to her :( We had kids riding up and down our driveway. We have a very long driveway and can't see who could be on it so we drive very slowly down. We have deliveries coming time to time and they back up fast down our driveway. I don't like being mean to them, but it kept them off the driveway.

@@grievingmom that is literally not the definition of survivors guilt. Survivors guilt is a psychological term used to describe when a person has feelings of guilt because they survived a life-threatening situation when others did not. In order for someone to have “survivors guilt” they too had to be in a life threatening situation. It’s a form of PTSD. You can’t take clinical terms and just make them match your definition. @@feelinguru-vywiththepaingu9808 That’s strange.
The little girl would want her to forgive herself and have peace. She is okay and free of pain.
I was run over by a minivan when I was 10 and in the ER I asked for people to pray for the woman who hit me to have peace.
It was a little boy.
that is honestly such a kind sweet thing of you to do. :) that honestly warms my heart for you to say that :)
i almost got hit by a car once, but i know the person would have never felt bad. it was in a parking lot. they saw me and they sped up.
they then parked in a handicapped spot and got in trouble. karma.
It was was boy.
God bless this woman I can only imagine the pain and guilt . My dearest friend lost her husband very early in life due to grieving himself to death because he ran over a child . At thirty years old his heart gave out he literally was no more good after that.
When I was four, I ran into the road when my aunt wasn’t looking and got ran over by a young couple. Luckily I was okay, since it was only the front part of the car that hit me and not the tires, but thinking about it years later makes me sad for what that couple had to go through after realising they could’ve killed a small child. If I was in that position, I don’t know what I would do. It’s such an awful thing to happen, and my heart goes out to everyone who was tragically effected in this story.
“Just like alec baldwin”
Leave the man alone 😂
I was just thinking that! 😂
Literally. How is this even relevant to what happened with him 😆
@@MsKJackson831 it’s relevant because they both killed someone unintentionally. Survivors guilt is real.
I was confused too 😂😂😂 now he’s the face of all type of accidental killings
She has a soul. Everyone knows Alec Baldwin is soulless. His verbal abuse is on par with Tom Cruise.
I ran over a kitten once and felt sad and guilty for months....I can't imagine how that lady feels...
The idea that Alec Baldwin is going to care for a prop person the same way this lady cared for the 8 year old child is laughable.
The “prop person” was still a human being with a family. Albeit not 8 years old, she was still very young and will be missed by many. I do think it’s a little disgusting how they connected the two stories… if they wanted to do an exposé on accidental killings they could have picked someone with a much more fitting story. A child dying and an elderly woman who never worked through her grief is not something I want to learn about.
"Just like Alec Baldwin." No, no it's not. Guess ol' Alec has a buddy there at Inside Edition.
"Just like Alec Baldwin" its disgusting how people continue using his name for clout
Alec Balwin pointed a gun at a WOMAN and killed her. He thought it was ok to do that. It's not. He Must pay for his consequences. Guns don't kill people. And this comes from a woman who doe not live in Evil America.

It's heartbreaking to see that she's still suffering. To deprive herself of having children because of an accident is really sad. I think that she may be suffering from PTSD. I hope that she gets some counseling so she knows it really wasn't her fault.
🙏🏻😌🤞🤍🇨🇦✌
It's so sad cause the memory never goes away but it's not actually her fault I just hope she can move on
God never intended that we should be our own judge, jury and executioner. Jesus died for our sins and it is through Him that we can ask and receive forgiveness for things both in and out of our control.

Totally different situation. Alec was negligent. A kid ran out in front of her, it was unavoidable
How was he negligent? There were practically two persons incharge who had to make sure the gun was safe before it was handed to him. Those two were hired to prevent exactly that type of accident.
@@kingthranduil8807 *Exactly* 💯
How was he negligent. There was an armory person. Every actor is supposed to be his own amory? He was told cold gun.
it was avoidable, the parents of the boy should have never let him go out and get the mail at night on a busy road. it's the parent's fault.
Facts, everyone keeps talking about the armorer. Fine, she's responsible too. But the person handling the firearm is most responsible. You don't ever take someone's word for it when it comes to firearms. If he wasn't trained, then shame on an industry that uses dangerous objects and doesn't train their employees.
I feel so bad for the lady. At least she truly feels bad for the accident. RIP to the 8 yr old boy 💙
she should be in prison
@@galacticguardian2783 No Because it was a Accident
@@galacticguardian2783 not necessarily, You could take legal action for accidental manslaughter but a lawyer could argue that it was an unlawful death which doesn't have prison time (for the most part) just a crapload of money

my dad accidentally ran over a homeless man wandering the highway when he was younger and he still cries about it 😢
Did he serve time? He should for killing someone
this is so sad, especially imagining how he would have been 52 this year. She’s an amazing person though, and you can truly tell she’s sorry
I could never imagine being alive knowing that I'm responsible for the death of someone so young.....I could be 90 years old and that guilt would still haunt me forever...
I can just imagine how she is feeling.😭💔❤️ and she hasn't forgotten about it.😭
The ones who need to feel guilt Don't feel any, the ones who have a good heart never get out of the trauma
My grandpa accidentally shot and killed his brother while they were cleaning their guns. Both of them were only teenagers. I can only imagine the guilt my grandpa lived with for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, I never got to meet this grandpa because he died a few years before I was born.
The sad thing is it wasn’t her fault even, he ran into the street. The street is meant for cars which is exactly what she was doing. She wasn’t even drunk and swerved into the sidewalk. And still she had to live with the guilt her whole life. It’s unfair all around and very sad. She doesn’t deserve that guilt
yes that is the difference between someone who has no remorse and someone who is just feeling sad because they got caught/have to face the conqiences of their actions.
I want to hug this woman it was not her fault it was an accident. And for her to not have children because she blames herself that breaks my heart 💔
My father about 44 years ago killed a little girl driving as well..never been the same.
She has apologized for the thing she did, that shows she is not a bad person...
@Trippen OnEm how was she being reckless the kid ran out in front of her car?? Where were the parents of the kid at
