Right. It honestly never entered my mjnd to put my address on a dog's collar. Like, if he went missing, would I put my address on the flyer? Nope, only my number. Would want to give some weirdo an excuse to pop up at my house.
I hope this doesn't stop anybody from putting ID on their dog. Too many dogs go missing every year. It's great to be able to call a phone number and get the dog home immediately. Not everybody thinks to check for a microchip. Sometimes shelters don't even check.
Pamela Bronson not everyone checks for a microchip. Not even the shelters because it really depends on how much the person who's doing intake cares. Just relying on a microchip also can get your dog spending time at the shelter instead of being returned home immediately. Not to mention the fines or boarding fees that you may get because your dog got out. Your dog is also exposed to any diseases that might be at the shelter at that time. It's extremely stressful for most dogs to be there. Definitely not an experience I would want my dog to have if I could avoid it.
@@pambronson4467 Your dog can come right home if there's info on their collar. If they end up in a shelter, even a good one, or perhaps especially a good one, it can take days, and they'll charge you for intake fees, boarding, vet exam, vaccines, fines, etc. They should have a chip too, of course.
My dogs microchip came with a tag that has a number you can put into their website in case you don’t have a scanner. No personal info. If I remember correctly it’s her vets info. Or they have you get ahold of the company and they then would get ahold of me. I think it was like $80. No monthly fees. It’s definitely worth it.
My city is all about $$. My husky got loose once and we couldn't find him, searching all through the neighborhood. A neighbor then told me they saw the dog catcher truck go by and being the weekend, we had to wait to go "rescue" him from doggy jail. Thing is, the shelter never called at all and my dog had an ID tag with my #. Had we not known, we may never knew he was in the pound. (Of course we would have checked, but still...) Luckily he was safe. Lived to be 15 yrs old. Also, I was fined for not having his rabies shot, which I most certainly did! That's a must. His vet tag was even on with the ID tag. So corrupt!
At least they didn't give up your dog for adoption to another family, and then claim they tried to contact you. This happened where I live. Saving grace was the dog tracker implant even though it still took over a year for the rightful owners to get the dog back.
Just get tamper evident warranty sticker off amazon and put it over your info. If someone finds your dog, they can remove it and clean it off but it would be difficult for some stranger to quickly take it off and get your info without you noticing.
I'm keeping my info on my dogs collar. I just don't let random people come up to my dog because he doesn't really like strangers. The news could've just said be wary of people taking pics of collars but your dog should be near you at all times.

I do the same trick of saying my dog is not friendly or will bite when people ask to pet him. He never barks or bites anyone before but he submits easily when his personal space is intruded. So he stays away from grabby kids, ignores other dogs, and easily walks around people.
Lol your dog may be a 90s baby introvert reincarnated 🤣🤣🤣🤣 because that’s how I be feeling around grabby kids, dogs (that aren’t mine or familiar with), and easily mind my business and ignore others when walking down the street 💯💯👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Sad people have to use this trick I used to love dogs then after getting ganged up on by some I got scared now when I see someone woth a dog I ask if I can pet it so I can get rid of my fear
When my dog was younger, he accidentally got out when my family was bringing in groceries and left the door open. We didn’t even notice he was gone because he loves to hide under beds for hours and likes his alone time. We had our phone number and address on his collar and luckily he was only a few houses down in the neighborhood. A kind mom and daughter brought him back to us and I was so scared that I could have lost him forever.
Got a phone call about my lost dog before I even realized he was missing (escaped through a hidden hole in the fence). That was 10 years ago. I am still thankful to that couple for bothering to get out of their car and pick him up on the side of the road and bringing him back to me (I was car-less).
Dogs have the 4th highest kill count of humans per year (after Mosquitos, Humans, and Snakes). I'd hardly call them ''the most innocent thing that exists''

@@TheFairyDickmother I read somewhere that that sticker actually has a purpose. In case they get into an accident, it's to let rescuers know to look for the baby and give it immediate attention.
Or the people with animal stickers... Now we know they have animals, so we could learn their routine, and bring more people to break in and kill the pets
I have returned people's lost dogs that they didn't even know had escaped the backyard, just because the dog had their address. I just knocked on the door and said "here is your doggo". It's moronic to not have proper contact info on the tag of your dog. The real take away is don't let weirdos play with YOUR dogs in public place. Creepers will find any way they can to harass you.
@@joshr24 Chips alone aren’t always enough. Many people wouldn’t bother loading a dog up and taking them in just to get scanned, but they might call a number on a tag because it would be much easier. They’d either ignore the dog, or maybe just keep the dog assuming it was stray if it had no tag.
My dog has a issue with his vocal cords or smth, so eventhough he's not a aggressive dog at all, he makes a sort of growling noise when he's happy and excited. He's not being aggressive, it's just that noise comes out because of his vocal cord issue. The good thing is people don't like to pet him or come close to him because of that, so I doubt this would happen to me.
I had this happen maybe a year or so ago but I found a lost dog after getting off my doctor's appointment and I checked his collar and there was a website where they gave a phone number only and not an address. I contacted the number and got a quick response and I was able to have another person watch the dog at their house and ultimately the dog was able to get reunited😊😊
If there's anything I learned from interacting with the internet is to never put ANY information on the internet that you don't want people to find out about. This lesson extends to real life. Though I understand that the dog collar having contact details is reasonable, I put some electrical tape on my doggo's tag on his collar. I understand that prying information/stalking is not cool, but please also understand that each person also needs to exercise due diligence to protect their information.
Evil might be appropriate. I'm sure rapists have used this in the past, but nobody ever figured it out. Lots of predators out there. We put our cell numbers and email address on our dogs, never an address.
I'm fine with the use of 'evil.' One day it might be complete idiots with no boundaries or decorum texting you out of the blue trying to hit on you, the next time it might be a psychopath with much more nefarious intentions. You never know.
What's even worse, is now I can't make friends with the dogs in my neighborhood without people thinking I'm a creep.... In fact, I just like their animals more than I like them.
Never heard of this being a problem, and I still don't think it's a big deal. Growing up with and around dogs, those numbers always come in handy when canines get loose. My own dog is part Jindo, a Korean breed known for being escape artists...and boy, he found interesting ways of escaping all the time. The number on his dog tag helped us find him on several occasions. BTW, you can block unwanted numbers and texts.

This is exactly why I just have "Microchipped" on mine. They just need to take him to a shelter to get it scanned and then the shelter or vet will call me.
Except a vast majority of people would find that errand far too inconvenient (ex: no time for such an errand, don't want dog hair in their car, it's at night time and won't take the dog home until vet/shelter opens in the morning, turned off by the audacity, or it's a kid or someone who doesn't even have a vet, etc) and will just let the dog loose again to go on about it's lost way. Many wouldn't have the resources to take your dog to a vet/shelter (no car, not enough gas, no money, homeless, a kid, disabled, can't keep the dog until the vet opens the next morning or Monday, etc). Frankly, I think your choice speaks to niche entitlement.
Yeah and do you think all shelters scan it? I have read stories here where the shelter didn’t even bother to scan, this one story said that the shelter got their dog euthanised before they could even know, just because they didn’t scan. Microchipping doesn’t sound like a good idea from all these stories here.
That's a horrible idea. If I find a dog it's collar has a phone number I always call or text. And if the address is close by I'll take the dog there. But if it just saids microchipped ill jt let the dog go. No point in going way too far out of my way for a owner who obviously dosent care about there dog enought to put a phone number on it
@@Beadledom2024 you don’t need to do all that. Just call animal control and they will scan the animal. They did that when I found a dog at the park and they contacted the owners themselves.
Just great. Even just putting the number down means that they can start texting or calling you. Amazing how a bunch of creeps can ruin any little thing.
Best idea would be to keep it in something that hides the info until it can be interacted with directly, kinda like how luggage tags work with the flap that hides personal info from plain sight but allows it to be easily accessible if interacted with.

@@mongoose1788 bruh it’s not like your house is invisible. People can see your house and rob it any day of the week lmao. This video is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.
Just so you know for future reference you don’t need a collar to still get the dog home. Had a giant mastiff at the top of my moms neighborhood, saw some high school kids trying to get the dog in the car. Made my mom stop so I could help, only I found out it wasn’t their dog and they didn’t even live in the neighborhood. So they literally were going to steal someone dogs. I made my mom go get a leash, and I walked him down the hill 20 minutes to my house. No tag. I called animal control and asked for them to send a unit out to try and scan to see if he had a chip. BUT I made it very clear that even if they didn’t find a chip I wouldn’t let them taken (you should always keep a lost pet in area you find them at). They came out and scanned him, he had a chip but no one was answering. They were super sweet and said we will drive around and see if anyone stops us. Ten minutes later they came back with a grown man crying. He had ran out right in front of them. He hugged all of us, and explained that he was from a high crime area, and for some reason the dog did not like police belts, so he basically told us we saved the dogs life. So please don’t give up you don’t see a tag.
@@lntg this is more about people getting a specific woman’s address because they want to date her or do something inappropriate or dangerous to her. It’s not about coming and stealing more than it is coming because they found you attractive or something.

I actually found a German Shepard on the street and luckily he had the home address on the tag because i was calling the number and no one was answering, I was on the clock so thankfully the address was close by and I just put the dog in the front yard. I came back later on when the owners were home to check on the dog
Lol, how about instead of telling people not to put thier address, tell them not to let people take pictures, especially close up, or pet our dogs. It's that simple.
Telling someone not to do something won't stop them. Also people can take videos and pictures even with their phone screen off. Or they can use hidden cameras to take pics and videos
But dog petting is such an awesome part of human society. It's a great conversation starter, a proven form of emotional support for both the dog and the petter, and overall I think it's something that makes us all a little more human. I think we can take other measures to stop these things from happening, but we shouldn't stop people from petting, that would be very sad.
Oof my gsd wouldn't even let someone she doesn't know pet her....it used to make me sad but after this I'm thankful. My GSD is very sensitive to danger and fear though. She does enough worrying for the two of us.

PSA to all: Its creepy for anyone, from anyone! Not normal behavior from the average person, I don't even like when people randomly pet my dog, let alone mess with the collar. My dog is super weenie hut Jr, and sometimes she even bites when the collar is grabbed and she feels threatened. I doubt anyone would get that close bc she's a good judge of character and barks/growls at people who come up and aren't sober or have weird vibes, but if they did, they'd have a whole other thing coming lol
Put your Veterinarian's office phone number on the tag. Make sure your dog has up to date microchip data at your vet, and listed online. Teach your dog to make snarly faces 😅 at strangers.
This is such good advice. My one day a one-eyed dog showed up on my back porch. My son called the number on the collar. It turned out the little dog belonged to the family across the street. Their boys came over and collected him. All that was on that tag was the dogs name and call this number if found. Which worked out well. I have seen people put there Vets name address and phone number on the tag. That seems like a good alternative. 👍
I remembered one summer in my teens. I saw this smooth coat collie came up to us. The dog was sweet and friendly to us kids. We looked at the tag for a phone number and it was hard to read it. I do liked dogs.
It’s sad that as pet owners we now need to watch what we put on our dog tags,it has never once crossed my mind that predators, robbers or potential sex traffickers could use this as a way to stalk people. What I also find disturbing is that people actually think it’s ok to get someone’s phone number without said person’s permission,to anyone trying to play the field or if you think someone is cute and you want to “shoot your shot” for the love of god as their permission to have their number instead of acting like a literal stalker, and if someone ask for your friends number, run it by your friend first,we need to stop handing numbers out like candy
I think the real truth is that anybody who is taking a picture of your dog's tag to get your address or phone number off of it is probably not really trying to do that to get a date and there's probably more disturbing motives intended for that.
Americans have a long standing stereotype of being really bad at seducing and relationships in general, but this is really pushing that stereotype to the limit lol
Just because of 1 instance because you let your dog be pet by strangers, doesn’t mean every person in the world has to take off the collar that might most passably save a dogs life. I think dog collars have saved 1 million mor dogs that actually harmed them
seriously im already suspicious of a person touching my dog ,them looking at my furbaby tag , I would confront them no questions asked gotta protect them too even tho my dog is shaped like a body builder lol
A couple of people had a bad experience, but it’s also very important to have your address on the collar just in case your furry friend gets lost and somebody returns them to you. That’s just a risk that you’re going to have to take
Exactly, there's more chance of your dog getting help when carrying a tag, some people just don't want to take responsibility without knowing if they have an owner to return them to
Exactly. It's a good warning, but people need to put some kind of contact info on the collar. Most people will not get your loose dog scanned. It's wayy more likely that the stranger will help if the info is easy. People will let loose dogs continue on their way if there's no info on the collar here. I see it all the time.
Also, when in public, you should always have your dog on leash where you have the option to give permission to touch your dog. Just don't let people take pics of the collar
People can get your address online just by searching your phone number. So many creepy sites have your full name, age, address, phone numbers, email addresses, social media, and even names of your family members. Should be illegal to post that kind of stuff online without permission.

Yea, it’s sucks how creeps and predators have made it to where it’s discouraged to help give away for people to bring your dog back to you
I had my dog chipped. No need for a collar tag.

So corrupt!
This is and was insane, ugh the stress involved.
Everyone is out to make a buck...
You should of denied your dog getting loose and accused them of stealing your dog out of your yard.
Gotta love big government.
At least they didn't give up your dog for adoption to another family, and then claim they tried to contact you. This happened where I live. Saving grace was the dog tracker implant even though it still took over a year for the rightful owners to get the dog back.
I’ve always thought putting your information on dog collar was risky
But thank god for those chip implants
Just get tamper evident warranty sticker off amazon and put it over your info. If someone finds your dog, they can remove it and clean it off but it would be difficult for some stranger to quickly take it off and get your info without you noticing.
I'm keeping my info on my dogs collar. I just don't let random people come up to my dog because he doesn't really like strangers. The news could've just said be wary of people taking pics of collars but your dog should be near you at all times.
I only put my dog name and my number on his collar. Never have my address
Havent got the chip yet, but my cats collar has just the street name/phone number/ vet practice. At the very least drop em off on my street, she’ll know where to go from there lol

I doubt anyone would get that close bc she's a good judge of character and barks/growls at people who come up and aren't sober or have weird vibes, but if they did, they'd have a whole other thing coming lol
@bang bang it is what?? Romantic?? Hell no lol
Put your Veterinarian's office phone number on the tag. Make sure your dog has up to date microchip data at your vet, and listed online. Teach your dog to make snarly faces 😅 at strangers.
What if your dog is actually lost and the vets office is closed?
My mother in law has a mastiff that "smiles" when he gets excited, if you don't know him it looks terrifying 🤣
predators they have no limit they have no boundaries
I remembered one summer in my teens. I saw this smooth coat collie came up to us. The dog was sweet and friendly to us kids. We looked at the tag for a phone number and it was hard to read it. I do liked dogs.
I always tell people my dog is aggressive so that they get scared and don't come too close to me. My dog does bark loud but she isn't dangerous lol.
A work colleague use to call girls that had “for sale” sign on there car window.
Dude was a creep for a number of reasons!
“My dog is not friendly. I have an aggressive dog. Just kinda keep your distance”.
What a good excuse.
Creepy guys using creepy methods and not realizing how obviously creepy it is?? I never would've guessed lol
For real, I was like oh great, yet another thing to worry about, what a great world, and another part of me was like, am I really surprised?
Luckily this never happened to me, because of the address I’ve gotten my dog back 5 times.
You must not want your dog
You don't deserve a dog
Do you keep your dog outside or something?
i think the dog doesnt want you, lol?
5 times dang, it’s more like your dog is trying to run away from you. 😭
From one German shepherd lover to another -that dog is gorgeous
Fortunately, in my neighborhood most of our neighbors know one another. If any stranger seems suspicious, just ignore them & walk away
First you gotta have a dog friendly enough w complete strangers to come close to them 🤣🤣🤣. My dog don’t play that
UH, DON'T LET PEOPLE SNAP PICTURES OF YOUR DOG'S COLLAR! Adresses and phone numbers on dog's dollars aren't bad unless you're stupid.
😄
What is wrong with you probably have no boyfriend either
@@stevenseth4502 who you talking to
@@thatdamncrow9197 you have life to learn
well women cant stop men from taking pics of the dogs collar adress if the dog is far away? lmao u need to think
"Don’t Put Your Address on Your Dog’s Collar" waaaay ahead of you. Phone number has to stay of course.
Congrats way ahead
Just be weary, don’t remove them, the only reason I got my Beagle back was because someone called that they found him.... 😂😂😂
Just put ur phone number not adress
Ye
Americans have a long standing stereotype of being really bad at seducing and relationships in general, but this is really pushing that stereotype to the limit lol
HHahahaahahahhaah
“She chased him down until he deleted the photo”
*me when my sister takes an ugly picture of me*
Just because of 1 instance because you let your dog be pet by strangers, doesn’t mean every person in the world has to take off the collar that might most passably save a dogs life. I think dog collars have saved 1 million mor dogs that actually harmed them
watch till the end, they just said not to put the address but phone number because thats less risky and will also save your dog in case its lost.
seriously im already suspicious of a person touching my dog ,them looking at my furbaby tag , I would confront them no questions asked gotta protect them too even tho my dog is shaped like a body builder lol
…isn’t she a bartender on tiktok? if she’s not, it looks/sounds just like her-
It is her
yeah she is
Yes
A couple of people had a bad experience, but it’s also very important to have your address on the collar just in case your furry friend gets lost and somebody returns them to you. That’s just a risk that you’re going to have to take
Exactly, there's more chance of your dog getting help when carrying a tag, some people just don't want to take responsibility without knowing if they have an owner to return them to
If you just put a phone number.
